LMF Hope Octoboy lets you get some decent sleep and that you feel much better tomorrow

Figgygal · 16/05/2012 21:03

Good work rash Dh and I guessed lo would be rolling today he hasn't but he has puked up twice which is quite unusual for him.

We had spaghetti Bol for tea dh had made a huge batch last week honestly just having to cook the pasta was so much easier than from scratch.

I really hate cooking am feeling completely out of my depth with weaning I have 2 books now and still don't know what I'm doing. He's been having tastes now for weeks when do they become meals and reduce the milk? I had to fight him off a tomato today when I was out for breakfast this am, he salivates at food like a dog and he's obsessed with cups he honestly launches himself at them.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 16/05/2012 21:09

Figgy Don't reduce his milk till he is older, as it is still his main source of nutrients. so can give some sort of good advice based on his age, due to being in the same boat Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 16/05/2012 21:14

It's surprising isn't it MissRee, I know I was amazed at how they'd got nearly 200 calories in the damn things! So have three of those even without the filling and it's 1/3-1/4 of your daily intake Confused.

My boys tided up DS's bedroom, put up one blackout curtain (just so it's darker, as opposed to pitch black) and went to the park. DS also wrestled with Jerry the Giraffe, his new favourite.

I'm touching wood, watching for black cats and sacrificing a few chickens, but DS appears to have decided that sleeping through is now cool. For most nights in the past fortnight, he's gone down at half 7; had dreamfeed, and then gone through til between half 5 and half 6 (and if it's the earlier can be persuaded that another half hour or so is gooooood).

Oh, and my DP got told off by the post-natal woman for the dreamfeeding, as apparently it's a choking risk?! As they're asleep they can choke, apparently. My BS antennae are wobbling everywhere, but I'll stand corrected if not.

Hope you made it through the day OK Gee, that sounds pretty grim.

It is bloody difficult, I know what you mean Oi. And being back at work means there's yet another thing to take up brain space, make you knackered, etc. Frankly, this weekend I'm going to pin DP down and have my wicked way with him whatever happens! We still curl up every night on the sofa, and I get my calves rubbed and then sexily pass out on his shoulder as I'm so tired.

Hurrah for the 9th centile hawthers, it's a good place to be!

And a whoop for Asa Rashka! Fart power still counts Grin. And yes, the joint oh-Bob-it's-gone-everywhere-it's-just-easier-if-we-shower-together-URGH shower has been taken a few times here too...

Hope you both feel better tomorrow mopsy (and minim) and LMF; and I'm not surprised you're worried re pox, that's the last thing the wee octopus needs.

Right, time for sexy zzzzzzzzzzzzzz's on DP's shoulder!

Kitty5824 · 16/05/2012 22:33

Irritable baby with rosy red cheeks, screaming for food then stops sucking after a few minutes, constantly sucking fingers...this is teething right?

Seb might be getting his first taste of Calpol if he doesn't calm down poor mite.

plutocrap · 16/05/2012 22:58

Get-wll vibes for mopsy, minimopsy, the littlest of the aethelspawn, GeeandTee, Kate's temper, numerous love-lives....

DD's not napping in her bed, either, just in her pram (when she's not screaming in it). Today she made a boy three times her age cry. She is going to be a Maria Callas or a sergeant major.

Well done to baby hawthers: commando crawling up the centiles or what?! Smile

AWCH, that cinema trip sounds like a good idea! DH once had a day off hen DS was in nursery, and we went to see the Robert Downey Jr Sherlock film when it came out, at the O2. Hope you are more romantic (and have better taste) than us! Wink
...and don't you and DH fll short on the romance, either, OiMissus!

seven, I think you did mention it at some point, sorry.

OiMissus, it's brilliant to hear your enthusiasm! FWIW, I was reading an interiors mag in the bath this evening (pulp fiction, I know), and not one of the bastards was actually excited about his/her house. They are just smug. I found myself wanting someone to say, "Oh, we need am airy kitchen due to the flatulence from our strict vegetarian/macrobiotic/whatever diet."

plutocrap · 16/05/2012 23:06

Oh bugger, should have refreshed before posting. Sorry to miss a whole lot of replies, but it's time to close the window and get to bed. DD seems a bit restless, but I have Doctor Who on standby to get me through a feed (I did spot your comment about dreamfeeding in passing, NorthernChinchilla: I do try to doa good burp after a 10pm-ish feed, sitting up with upper body hanging over my arm, if that's a helpful idea?), as I fell asleep with her (again) last night, and woke at about 5, my bosom uncovered apart from a little mouth.

BeeMyBaby · 16/05/2012 23:16

missree it has taken far too long fr me to work out how to get a free gift off the facebook nuby page! But I believe a spoon is on its way to me now... and while I was there I had to try to ender DD2 in their baby of the month competition, I really do get sucked into these things.

BlushDD2 ended up having a bit of our pizza (DSM I believe it was me who gave you your inspiration for dinner Wink), she just sucked it and spat most of it out, although I think she might have eaten about a mm2 of it as she did this really weird thing, like trying to clear her throat so I think that was her first solids going down the hatch, will probably give her a carrot stick in a day or two so that we wean in the more traditional manner.

Went to sleep at 9.30 so already had 5 hours. Now just got to hope I can get a couple more between now and 7am!

CherryBlossom27 · 17/05/2012 07:14

Morning all!

I seem to have missed lots of posts, haven't checked the thread for a while!

Well I was so fed up yesterday, I accidentally bumped into a woman with the pushchair as I was rushing to get to my friends house and thought I was running late (the lady did suddenly stop too in my defence) and she just starting effing and blinding at me :( I just crumpled and started crying as it was the last straw for me and then she completely changed her tune, gave me a hug and invited me to her house for tea! I declined the tea as I was already on my way elsewhere.....On the plus side she might think twice before shouting her head off at a mum with a baby (aka hormonal wreck!)....

DH has been a pain in the bum, not sure why but he seems to have got the idea from somewhere that he can have a lie in on Saturdays and Sunday's...apparently I don't need sleep? I woke him up on Sunday and told him he was doing the next feed and I was going to sleep. Idiot! We have now agreed that he can lie in one day, and I will lie on the other day at weekends.

Anyway DH was out last night (his first night out since DS has been born!), I was so fed up as he got back home at almost 7pm and then was out by 7.30pm, so I decided I needed some time for myself no matter what so I put DS to sleep in his cot and he was asleep at 8pm (took 3 lots of 5 minute crying), and I have no idea how but DS slept through until 6am! :o Will definitely be trying that again tonight!

BeeMyBaby · 17/05/2012 07:46

cherry I always think crying is the best line of defence to these kind of people!

Also you are super lucky with the lie-ins! Everyday is my turn to get up (DD2 doesn't get up early but DD1 wakes at about 7-8) and DH actually sleeps in the spare room for reasons including so we don't wake him up in the morning -I remember a couple of weeks ago DD1 had slept on a bit so DD2 and I continued to sleep, only for DH to get up, loudly come into the room waking DD2 up and then he starting smiling at her (which makes her wake up all bright eyed with no chance of further sleep) - AND THEN go into DD1s room to check she was 'breathing' (thus waking her up AND THEN he decided he was tired so went back to bed leaving me with two awake children. I was so annoyed... and have been keeping that pent up for weeks, heh.

And kitty it does sound like teething - do you have one of those teethers that you can out in the fridge to chill for your DS?

OiMissus · 17/05/2012 08:18

Oh great wisdom of the thread, i come to you in search of knowledge.
OK, so we saw the wonderful, amazing, fabulous, family friendly house yesterday at 11, with the sun all over the garden and balcony and patios. And then I went back at 7 with DH, and the sun was nowhere to be seen in the garden/balcony/patios. The garden must be South east facing. so i reckon there'll be sun from early morning, til maybe 5. Is that a deal-breaker?
Weekends will be fabulous, but there'll be less chance of an evening glass of vino in the sun.
But sunny evenings are few and far between in the NW, eh? And when it gets dark, everyone's happy with firepits and lanterns and suchlike, aren't they?
and even if it is sunny between 5 and 8, we'll be too busy anyway. Although it'd be nice to eat dinner outside.
I thought about this all last night. DH loved the house, and openly said to me afterwards that he'd never thought he'd ever live in such a house, it was like someone else's very posh holiday villa. Grin
The other thing that kept me awake was BOi's cold. He had a really rattley chest and blocked nose last night. He wouldn't settle, and got upset feeding as he was struggling to breathe. I had karvol dripped on tissues, saline spray (he really hates that) and even got a dose of Calpol in him. Poor mite. I slept with him by me, holding him on his side to aid his breathing.
He's at my mum's again today. I hope he'll be OK. He'll probably sleep for hours.
So great wisdom of the thread. We should go for the house, shouldn't we? And is there anything else I can do for BOi? (I need to find some saline drops, they are less aggressive than the spray.)
cherry i ran a tesco trolley into a lady and she was so lovely about it, I was in tears apologising! (baby hormones!)
Hawthers happy to hear that your LO is climbing the percentiles. Well done!
Plu your LO must pack a decent punch if she's terrorising small boys. :)
Bee good work on the weaning. I can't raise your pizza, but BOi has so far tried orange ice lolly, sugarfree ribena (just a tiny drop), and egg mayo. I have to wrestle with him to stop him getting my food and drink, and he's stronger than me.
I'm doing baby-led weaning, because I am lazy. Do you think that people have liquidised Big Macs in the past?

Rashkakeller · 17/05/2012 08:54

Morning!

Oi if both you and dh loved the house straightaway then you should go for it! Everyone raves about south facing gardens and it has that. There's always some sort of compromise unless you're a zillionaire and can have a house built to order, but sounds like this one ticks most of the boxes?

Cherry I'm forever clipping people's ankles with the pushchair but in my defence, they do tend to get in the way!

Bee I applaud you for not slapping your dh upside the head! If mine woke the kids up then went back to bed, I'd be hard pushed not to break something like his legs

Northern sounds like bs to me re dreamfeeding - unless you're dreamfeeding him sausage sandwiches! Can't dreamfeeding ds because he won't latch on half asleep but others I know swear by it.

Ds did near enough 12 hours last night, all that rolling and pooing tired him out :)

LittleMissFlustered · 17/05/2012 09:10

There are badger's arses out there that are feeling less rough than me.

This has been a public service announcement, normal programming will be resumes shortly.

Morning all, still feeling pants and MrM has now caught the virus too, so the 3 of us are in the bed together. Managed to wash, sterilise and make up the bottles so can now collapse again, thought was going to conk out half way through. After projectile vomiting all over the house yesterday (3 loads of vomit covered washing!) minim has taken a feed and so far kept it down, fingers crossed cos I don't think either of us feel up to cleaning up sick but hey, it's surprising what you can do when you have to.

Sorry not replying to anyone, just need to conk, will do later! Except for Oi, buy the house! And all sick ppl/mini ppl, feel better soon!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 17/05/2012 09:53

Cherry I think we have all done it Smile

Bee Pizza was yummy Grin

Oi That's one thing DP & I love is sitting on the patio in the evening with the chimnea going and glass of Wine so I'd still purchase said house as we don't get much sun in the evening out the back.

Mopsy Hope you MiniM & MrM all feel better soon.

I've had Sky weighed this morning and she weighs a nice 13lbs 10oz. HV asked if I had started her on solids yet as she is now 21weeks do I said yes. She already knew I had a 7yr old and said well you were told to start earlier back then so she's not worried Smile I love my HV she is so down to earth and not stupid!

OiMissus · 17/05/2012 10:09

Stop feeling badgers' arses! No wonder you're poorly!
Am dreaming about dreamfeeding myself sausage sandwiches. Nom nom! And I'm sure BOi wouldn't turn one down either!
Hope all that are unwell are feeling better soon - lmf, mopsy et al.
OK, have put in an offer on the house. Was going to go in at 10% less, but I thought that was too cheeky, and I want them to want to sell us the house. So I went in at 6% less. Am I too soft?

Figgygal · 17/05/2012 10:12

I need to catch up since last night but as lo was up at 2 and then 4.45 im hanging. I did get him back down without food at 4.45 for the first time ever (hooray) then he woke 6.30 which is usually around his wake up time he then fell asleep on bottle for 15 mins, woke up finished it stayed awake maybe 20 mins then went back to bed until 8.30. Hes just all over the place and has been grumpy since he woke up. Im tired today for the first time in a long time.

Lo is also obsessed with the skunk i can see an accident coming which involves teeth. He grabs at her tail while she wanders past if he gets hold of her and wont let go she will nip him. Dh says it'll happen eventually and i guess if she was a cat she would swipe at him in the same situation but worries me a lot.

Right off to catch up and eat breakfast.......or considering the time is it now brunch?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 17/05/2012 10:15

Oi I think that is a sensible thing. Fingers crossed for you.

CherryBlossom27 · 17/05/2012 10:37

DSM I wish I had your HV! Mine just repeats "milk only until 6 months" and told me not to come back for a month to get DS weighed/get advice...I will have to pretend he's on milk only still when I go back at the end of the month! I think there is a review on the weaning guidelines happening at the moment.

So glad I'm not the only one bumping into people with my pram! I think now the woman shouting at me feels more embarrassed for shouting at me than I feel for crying!

LMF and Mopsy hope you're both feeling better soon! It's more rubbish than just the normal being I'll when you've got to look after a LO as well :(

Oi I read somewhere that you've offered too much if the seller accepts your first offer! I think 6% off is fine, I think it's a case of finding out how long the house has been on the market, what similar houses in the same area have sold for etc when putting in an offer. Fingers crossed for you!

Figgy have we swopped? I'm feeling awake and alive for the first time in a few weeks! Hope your LO is back to normal soon!

On purées I have tried the following (all very well received by DS!):
Pear
Apple
Banana
Mango
Sweet potato
Parsnip
Swede
Carrot

I have got broccoli & cauliflower puréed and mixed together to try out. I want to try papaya, avocado and normal potato next. Has anyone got any other ideas?

jigglebum · 17/05/2012 10:38

Morning - oi - very exciting about the house - hope your offer is accepted and all goes through ok. can we see a pic - I am so nosy when it comes to houses!

No real plans here today - housework and pureeing. Have to wait in for a christening present to be delivered for our nephew's christening this weekend. We are planning Freya's christening at the moment - it is just before we are off on holiday in June. Anyone else planning to get their LO christened or has already done it? Looking for a nice poem for my sister to read if anyone has any inspiration?

Can't believe some are crawling, talking etc. We dont even have rolling yet! I looked in DS s baby book the other day - he rolled at 13 weeks and sat up alone at 6 months but did not say anything until 14 months ish!

glad to see sleep is improving for some. We are very lucky with F I know.

LittleMissFlustered · 17/05/2012 10:44

I have had coffee so am slightly more functional. Hope all other plague-ridden folk are feeling better soon:)

OP posts:
jigglebum · 17/05/2012 10:45

Re purees - I have just pureed a very ripe melon, am about to do pear and blueberries (mostly pear with just a few blueberries), have also done squash, green beans and courgette in addition to your ones cherry. I tend to give a carbohydrate like sweet potato mixed with another veg like beans. All have gone down well so far. Tried a well cooked carrot stick but she wasn't very interested.

LittleMissFlustered · 17/05/2012 10:46

Also, I am so jealous of your skunk figgy :o
