Scheherezade · 04/06/2012 21:40

Thanks bb3 that's reassuring!

PenguinArmy · 04/06/2012 22:04

sch people were giving advice based on people's worried regarding not enough solid intake. Point A, all milk Point B large proportion of solids. Babies will get there in an infinite amount of ways, both ends of the spectrum being normal. People were trying to explain one end was normal but I think all agree that if it baby led and not trying to force more way than another then it is right. (hope that makes sense)

DS ate loads at lunchtime (for him). two slices of watermelon, a few pieces of butternut squash, sandwich and a biscuit.

pp you now need to go into survival mode and get through anyway you can. I know DH needs to be alert for driving but I''m sure can take over for the early parts of the evening on a regular basis etc. or he does all/most of housework bar say cooking or summit.

PenguinArmy · 04/06/2012 22:05

the skin on DS's head has come up all bobbly and red which is a change to his normal pattern of getting sore. he has two bald patched due to scratching that make him look like he has a receeding hairline.

Penelope1980 · 04/06/2012 22:26

Wow you have been chatty!

fuzzy so sorry about your job.

Also glad to read am not alone with having bad nights, A has been really really upset at night time, waking a few times and taking ages to settle again. He hasn't been hard to settle since he was about a month old, so it's a bit of a shock to the system. He's really changed in the last couple of weeks as well, less inclined to play by himself and crawling after me, so it feels like I have much less free time as am interacting with him much more. He is very cute though Grin

Don't be daft mama i didn't mean that at you! was addressed to no one in particular (well, maybe my HV). "Anyone" as in the world, iyswim.

MamaMaiasaura · 04/06/2012 23:02

Phew scheh Grin I was worried. Had a pretty crappy weekend so super sensitive paranoid Blush

TallyBear · 04/06/2012 23:08

PA Aw, is it an allergy or eczema?

Sch love your poem, hope you don't mind but posted it on.

Mama I'm Envy of all those meeting up too, but I'm too far away from anyone. And back at work now too Sad.

BB3 what did Edie think of Haribo?

ipswichwitch · 04/06/2012 23:27

Hi everyone, hope the sleep situation is improving pink,I've been there too. After a spell of cosleeping (worked at first, but then were back to hourly waking) we moved N into his room which went pretty well. Having a bit of a blip on the sleep front now though :( poor boy still having trouble pooping (nothing since thurs and been on lactulose) and he's getting distressed with it again.
After thurs, we had 2 great days where he ate loads of solids and was his usual self, now he barely touches anything, just bf, and he's now in bed with me as he was inconsolable when I tried settling him in his cot. Will he back to the drs weds, but not looking forward to the whole attitude of "you're being pfb" that I got last time when dr said "well he looks ok". See that's the amazing thing about kids, their ability to look like they're at deaths door one min, then bouncing off the walls the next.
Love the poem scheh :)

ipswichwitch · 04/06/2012 23:35

Almost forgot, mrsH, we got a tommee tippee cup that's bulb shaped, with handles (that look like little arms sticking out!) and has a soft silicon spout , so it's a bit of a cross between bottle and lidded cup. DMIL had N for couple of hours today (we went to pics, I ate too much popcorn) and she said he guzzled his milk out of it. Seems to be better for him as all he has to do is clamp gums on the spout which opens it up and milk comes out. I think with bottles he gets confused at the different sucking action, then frustrated and v screamy

Scheherezade · 04/06/2012 23:39

ips I have that bottle too, its brilliant :)

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 05/06/2012 00:15

I have that TT cup too an M loves it Smile
BB3 I think it would have been either princess square or merchant square you were in last. Glasgow would probably be best or me so I can leave C with my mum as if I were to bring him I wouldn't get a chance to speak to any of you between taking him to the toilet every 10mins or stopping him running away/hitting other kids etc etc. --plus I fancy a walk round frasers in peace Grin the Wednesday would also be better as I now work Thursday and Fridays Sad

BB3 · 05/06/2012 02:46

Pa, poor lamb, is it worth a trip back to the dr do you think?

Mama - I'm in Southampton every week at some point visiting my sister and dn so we can meet up anytime - I still have lots of baby weight to lose so don't be panicking about things like that! Wink

Princess street - that was it. Wednesday in Glasgow it is. What time roughly?

Sch - ips, what is this magical bottle you speak off, I want one. Might help the girls take some water!

Ips - my dcs can be at a point where I'm considering taking them straight to hospital then by the time we are into drs they're basically as good as new (until we are home again!) it's so frustrating and you feel like you're making it up when explaining the symptoms to the dr! Hope n is more comfortable soon. Could you take a video of him distressed to the drs on your phone and explain that this is what he is like when he needs to poo but can't. I've done it with Ds before as he has a fear of drs so is often to inconsolable to be checked over personally.

BB3 · 05/06/2012 02:49

Tally - she loved it! Kept crawling back for more, poor ds couldn't understand why I made him move so much - that's the problem with crawling babies Grin

Pink - I'm joining you in the bad sleep club! All three of mine have been awake since 2am (off and on before)! Gah!!!!

BB3 · 05/06/2012 02:51

Sorry ed (not sche) it was you who had the cup too!

Scheh, I love that poem xx

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 05/06/2012 03:18

I think it's a tommee tipee first cup says 4month+ on wrapper and is a non spill one, mine is quite small clear but with pinky tinge cup with white top and handles with peach rubber spout and clear lid.
I'll see if I can find online and link
cup

BB3 · 05/06/2012 04:24

Thanks Ed, I'll pick one up tomorrow.

I've given up trying to fit 5 in a bed with ds clambering everywhere and am now downstairs with him whilst dh is asleep with the girls. He's devoured two pieces of toast already so think hunger was half his problem. There should be a mothers channel on sky for all of us up at this godly hour with the kids (for various reasons) that has good programmes on rather than drivvle!

Oh ed was meant to say earlier, I've just finished watching a new series called scandal about a u.s. Presidential advisor turned problem solver and if you like homeland, I'm pretty sure you'll love this. No idea when it's on in the uk but you can watch them online! So good!

Penelope1980 · 05/06/2012 05:35

Homeland was awesome! bb3 what's that other show called? We are watching Game of Thrones at the moment. So good. I am struggling with violence on TV a lot more now I've had a baby, is anyone else finding that?

I am off work for a couple of days while DH has surgery. It's quite nice spending longer with A, but even after 4 weeks had forgotten how much time is spent feeding and changing compared to playing and doing the fun stuff. I think that my focussed "play" time with him is probably not the different than when I am at work!

OP posts:
Scheherezade · 05/06/2012 06:41

bb3 you can get it from Sainsburys for about a fiver. C wouldn't drink from an ordunary beaker but he will from this.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 05/06/2012 07:20

A whole 4 hours of broken sleep here last night . Why can't these babies understand that sleep is good!!!

LittlePebble · 05/06/2012 08:38

Morning what has happened to all these babies? E has been up since half four and at six DP brought him in with us so obviously E is now fast asleep as is DP and I'm squished on the edge of the bed!

I've got that cup Ed and E struggles to get anything out of it so have just bought blue tt free pouring one and he loves it so much I have to hide it from him until he's eaten as otherwise he just pours water all over himself/ the table etc and won't eat.

BB3 I'll look that series up I loved Homeland. Grin at haribo!

Scheh love the poem.

Mama Sad you had a bad weekend hope you have a nice day today (pouring with rain here yuck)

I want to have a meet up ! Can you all come to Devon it's really pretty here by the sea.... Grin

Engelsmeisje · 05/06/2012 08:51

Sorry to hear about your job Fuzzzy fx that something else comes up for you.

Mrs H I don?t have any words of wisdom to offer on feeding when you?re at work/bf, sorry. I hope that by the time you?re back in August she?s decided to co-operate!
Mince curry? Does indeed sound rather grim Grin

pink sorry to hear you?re having such a shit time. Sleep deprivation is an absolute bitch. Take the help your DH offers you, you can?t do it all on your own. It will pass.

country am so excited for you! Glad that you have a good support system around you. Making me broody now Grin Am heading to GP next week to discuss contraception (maybe it?ll fail too Wink )

Cheshire LMAO at ?looking like a bag of spanners? as that is exactly how I feel right now (and look! )

mama hope you manage to get some peace in the forest with DCs

Love that poem scheh

Engelsmeisje · 05/06/2012 09:17

And btw PA M had 2 similar sounding patches on his head just at the hairline a few months ago, just before he got his helmet. They went really red and scabby, and after he'd scratched them they wept and then scabbed over (yellowy). Eventually it healed itself but was a pain trying to stop him scratching himself (I think when he got it his helmet it actually helped as he couldn't scratch them).

CheshireDing · 05/06/2012 10:00

Aww poor guy Penguin that sounds sore :( One of P's baby friends has really bad excema and her skin is always so red and sore, you can see the poor little thing scratching her skin whilst she is playing :( Engels P's remaining cradle cap is yellowy and I always have to think about when I am putting the cream on it because it makes her hair look greasy (so have to try and do it when we are not going out).

Engels don't know what to suggest about M's puffy face, I suppose it goes down though once he is up for the day?

I am joing in yawning, we are lucky if we manage 4 hours of sleep at the moment (and still look like a bag of spanners).

We were thinking of going back to Lewtrenchard Manor later this year Pebble so will give you a shout if we do :)

I want a holiday :( :(

Engelsmeisje · 05/06/2012 10:16

just wondering if there's anything i can do to stop him sleeping face down, though maybe it's just a phase. Every since (last weekend) he worked out how to get up on his knees in a crawling position he seems to want to sleep like that (with his bum up in the air and his arms down by his side). he looks really funny and face does go down after 20/30 mins in the morning, but not sure if it's good for him.

apologies for "woe is me" post above. PMT is making me really weepy and emotional. Am giving up getting anything done today and instead crawling up in the sofa with M who's just thrown up on me .

Penelope1980 · 05/06/2012 10:31

Am interested in the sleeping face down thing as well - A doesn't get a puffy face, but did go through a stage of getting puffy feet. No idea if it is related at all. I think it's probably worth checking out just in case engels. And no worries about a PMT post!

I have been watching the Jubilee stuff on TV really wanting to go to London. DH and I talked about it tonight, but looked up flights and don't think we will be able to make it happen. Money aside, the flight is probably far too long for A.
