Polka i can't get up these days without doing that old person groan. Something between a wheeze and a yelp. I ache constantly!

Anyone want to think of a new name for me seeing as im not a newmum anymore and i have no imagination.

cinnamongreyhound · 11/10/2012 18:48

diddlybop I think if the positives of doing your show outwiegh the negatives of it then you should carry on! I know what you mean about rushing about between places but it's so nice for you to be able to take Toby and pick him up from school, don't forget that there are many mums who don't get to do that. It's one of the positives I always have to remember that I am there every day even if it's with 4 or 6 other children :)

My day is:
6.20 get up and walk dog (when foot not broken)
7.00 get kids up and dress
7.30 minded children arrive
7.45 get mine breakfast
8.15 leave for school- drop offs at 8.30, 8.40 and 8.50
9ish back home or straight to toddler group (Mon and Tues)
11.40 school pick up (mon, weds and fri)
12ish lunch and naps, when I then can do paperwork, ironing or a bit of internet relaxing.
2.30 one minded child goes home
3 leave for school for pick ups at 3.15 and 3.30
4ish get home, minded kids go home at 4, 4.45, 5.30 and 6
6pm cook dinner
8pm kids to bed
8.30 sit down
10ish bed

I think it's a pretty normal day for working parents unfortunately! Enjoy the time as much as you can and stay positive. Hope Toby is enjoying school!

I did PolkaDotMoonHasFangsYouKnow, he said the bones haven't moved since the previous x-ray so they won't move now. I've got rid of the boot and have to walk in flats until 8 week after the break and no high impact activity until then either. THis is when it should be fully healed and I can expect it to feel fully better. I can't drive for 3 weeks which is a bit of a bugger but my lovely mum has put me on her insurance for a month and she has an automatic (it's my left foot I broke) so I can drive myself to the rest of my course and bodyshop parties I have lined up. And no I don't ache every day, dh is always very stiff in the mornings and he reckons it's all downhill from 30 but so far at almost 32 I'm fairing pretty well. Perhaps it's the cold up north that's getting into your joint Wink

diddlybop · 11/10/2012 19:21

Well Cinnamon seeing as you mentioned it and this is MN so I'm allowed to sound a bit boastfull but Toby is doing brilliantly!!! He's doing so well with his reading. They get 5 words a week to learn and get tested on them. If they get them right they get the next set. After the 1st 20 words they get a book with words. So far he's got a new set each week and is on track for getting his book next friday! He's amazed me and my mum (who works in a primary school) because he's such a young one! I'm so proud of him!

I agree its a typical day for a working mum and it is my choice. I could make it slightly easier for myself if I didn't walk toby to school but that was the whole reason I changed my hours so that I could do that and be there for him. no disrespect to you at all cinnamon but I'd hate for him to be with a childminder before and after school. I would just like 30mins to sit and chill. Because I don't get a break at work I'm not eating properly. By the time I'd get chance to have lunch its 3.30 and nearly tea time so I'm skipping a meal!

PolkaDotMoonhasfangsyouknow(PDMHFYK) could you have picked a longer name????? I'm with you on the aching thing. I'm permanently tired and my back, legs, neck & head ache none stop!

Notsonewmum??????????

lumpypumpkinpie · 11/10/2012 19:28

Done it!!!! ha ha! Lumpypump!!! i like that better!

Anyway PDMHFYK I need to order some of your wonderful jewellery!

cinnamongreyhound · 11/10/2012 19:38

Oooh yes I love the braclet with initial and rose :)

You should get a 15 min break even though you're not entitled to a lunch break, make sure you eat at some point in the day or you will be more tired and make yourself ill!

lumpypumpkinpie · 11/10/2012 20:18

No, I have to work 6 hours before I'm entitled to a break!!! I grab a yoghurt and a piece of fruit on the go & I managed 3 sips of tea this morning! I had a complete meltdown at work yesterday & had a go a one of the nicest girls I work with because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Bless her, she sat and took it cos she knew It wasn't aimed at her then just said "right, shall we have a look at what you're doing today sort it out!" She was so lovely that she got a bottle of wine from me.It'll all be ok & I've got half term off to look forward to!

Where's Sassy and Saoirse got to??

PolkaDotMoonHasFangsYouKnow · 11/10/2012 21:02

How about this: NewMum'sAfterOneDBlood too long?? Grin

I think I've run myself into the ground and got pretty stressed recently so eat a bit like you lumps totally need to look after myself.
I've lost 4 stone (too much) since being pregnant but I was really big with Jack. My body definitely needs more padding in these arctic Yorkshire, winter months Wink
I have had two sickness bugs in 6 weeks and a cold......

Discounts of course for all fellow Sept threaders Grin

newmum001 · 11/10/2012 21:22

OneDBlood as in One Direction? I love it but dp has already commented on my Harry Styles obssesion and countless fb updates. I told him that Harry is on my "list" and if he ever requests short notice sex i will be taking him up on his offer and dp better get used to it lol. Seriously im becoming quite a couger, is anyone watching x factor? I fancy the young blonde one out of that District 3 as well!

Lumpy (yay you're lumpy again) im dorry you're having a shit time atm. Hopefully you'll get to relax a bit at half term!

Well we're off to a caravan in wales tomorrow for a few days and knowing my look it'll piss it down for the whole time. Should be nice to get away for a bit though. I might be absent for a few days depending on the wifi situation so hope everyone has a lovely weekend and ill catch up on monday!

lumpypumpkinpie · 11/10/2012 21:33

"Lumpy (yay you're lumpy again)" ha ha ha ha ha! only on here could you say that to someone and it be accepted as normal!

newmum001 · 11/10/2012 21:42

Hahaha just realised how offensive it sounds out of context!

Oh ive got news, im going to.be an auntie. Dp's brothers gf is pregnant. It didn't go down too well with mil cause his brother is the baby of the family and they haven't been together very long and they don't live together etc but im really excited. His gf is a lovely girl and bil is a lot more responsible than people give him credit for. They're being a bit precious about it and reading EVERYTHING so its going to be a long pregnancy but grace is finally going to have a little playmate. Yay!

lumpypumpkinpie · 11/10/2012 22:17

Oh newmum, I got all excited then, I skim read the 1st bit of your post and got "oh I have news, pregnant" I didn't see any other words!

cinnamongreyhound · 12/10/2012 09:49

I could see if you were doing 6 until 11 that you would need a break so much but you'd think your employers would be considerate enough to give you a small break to eat whether you're entitled to it or not just for your own well being. Could you take a sandwich and eat it on the way to pick Olly up as that wouldn't be too close to teatime?

I wrote on Sassy34264's wall when it was her birthday and she said she was on holiday somewhere abroad but I can't actually remember where spain or greece maybe, terrible memory!!

My friend told me yesterday she was pregnant, I'm so pleased for her as she stopped having her contraception injection in July last year so it's been a while coming. She had a horrendous time with her ds and it's taken her this long to be happy to consider giving birth again! I was very smiley but had a little cry when she left, so want another baby :(. I have finally bought ds1 a new bed so Luke will be going into ds1's car bed and I will be dismantling the cot and putting it up for sale, I think this will be an emotional weekend! My baby no longer a baby and my big boy getting bigger :( :( :(

cinnamongreyhound · 13/10/2012 21:49

Oh my goodness bedtime was sad, Luke cried for HIS bed :(. I told his this was his bed now because he's a big boy but he said 'no James bed'. Left his crying for a bit as he wasn't calming down, went back and he asked for a drink. Said thank you mummy when I bought it drank, gave me a kiss then laid in bed playing with woody for a bit then went to sleep. Could have been worse I suppose!! Felt like I'd taken something from him by taking his cot down though :(

Dixiebell · 14/10/2012 08:07

Ah, cinnamon. Hope he slept alright throughout the night. Arlo was okay when we put him in his new bed last week but we did have a few episodes of disturbed sleep during the week. But this morning he slept in till 7.45! I was slightly sad seeing the empty cot too but of course have the consolation it's going to be used again soon. Think about all the fun things you'll do as a family as the boys get older :)

sassy34264 · 15/10/2012 11:57

Hi everyone.

Been in Italy (close cinnamon Wink ) for 4 weeks. Did get back a week ago, but been busy with washing, tidying and twins starting nursery. (just 2 mornings a week. )

Hope you are all well.?

Sorry i missed quite a few little one,s birthdays. Hope they all had fun.

I'm a bit too knackered to post fully, as i only had 2 hours sleep on sat night due to Eva having croup. Will post more coherently and fully in a few days. x

newmum001 · 16/10/2012 08:18

Sassy i dont really know anything about croup but i saw your fb status. It must have been scary.

How do the twins like nursery?

cinnamongreyhound · 16/10/2012 14:54

Luke slept all night until 7.15 Dixiebell! He was happier going for his nap on Sunday and has been fine so far since then.

I'm rubbish at geography sassy34264!!! Hope Eva is feeling better now and you are getting more sleep :)

PolkaDotMoonHasFangsYouKnow · 16/10/2012 22:07

Anyone else's LO cutting naps? This is the third night in a tow Jack's still awake at 10pm!!!! Arggghhhhhhhhh he does 1.5 hrs nap from around 1.30-3pm.
Wide awake and singing "Granoo nat" Grand Old Duke Of York!
He goes down for naps so willingly and seems needy for them so just can't see him lasting all day without.... But 10pm Shock
Dh just taken him out in the car

cinnamongreyhound · 17/10/2012 06:44

Luke went through a spell of being awake until late so I just made his nap shorter. He still very much needs one and often asks to go but if he's not awake by 3 he's a nightmare. I suggest either reducing the time he sleeps or moving it to a bit earlier in the day. Ds1 had naps until he was 4 and even then I stopped them because he was at preschool in the afternoon but I have friends who's children stopped napping before they were two!

newmum001 · 17/10/2012 08:31

Grace had a week when she wouldn't have a nap in the day. It was horrible and she was so cranky. I moved it a bit later but i make sure she' awake by 2 otherwise she'd never go to bed. On the odd occasion she has a really late nap i only let her have half an hour. If i were you i'd move his nap earlier and maybe only let him have 45 minutes and see if that helps. I know he's a pretty active child so if he's happy to go for a nap he obviously still needs one but 10pm would drive me nuts!

PolkaDotMoonHasFangsYouKnow · 17/10/2012 12:48

Earlier napping is a total no no. We've tried everything and he just isn't tired enough. I've just put him to bed but he's ready earlier than usual after his late night. I won't let him have more than an hour and see how we go tonight.
Hate waking him up tho.... I really don't want to cut his nap as he definitely seems to need one so fingers crossed its just a phase.
Clocks change soon....... Wonder what joys that will bring!? Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 17/10/2012 13:18

I hate waking kids, I've had several parents who wanted me to cut naps with their children when from what I saw the child needed a nap. I did what was asked but some days they just fell asleep and you can't do much but wake them up after a short time. Luke is really good at being woken but ds1 is like the spawn of satan when woken without enough sleep!

newmum001 · 17/10/2012 13:23

Grace isn't keen on being woken either but im a mean mummy and if she isn't awake by 2 she gets woken. Hope tonight goes better for you!

lumpypumpkinpie · 17/10/2012 17:52

Ollys had to change his nap pattern because of school. If we're at home he has an hour, an hour and a half straight after dinner, about 12.30. but I have to give him milk otherwise he won't go. He won't go at nursery now but seems to have started falling asleep in the pushchair on the way to get Toby. He falls asleep at exactly the same spot each day and wakes up at exactly the same spot on the way home. He has about 20 mins!

sassy34264 · 18/10/2012 09:57

I try not to give mine a nap at all. They were tired at first, but they have mostly got used to it now. They will still sleep if i go out in the car though and they do at least once or twice a week fall asleep when im not looking.

Eva is still ahving 2 naps, but i think she is ready for 1, cos she is sometimes still awake in her cot, even when the other 2 are fast asleep. She is in their room now- got dp to put her in when we got back from italy. I was dreading it, for me, and also cos i thought the twins would be climbing all over her, but luckily the no nap routine means they are too tired. Grin

Eva is walking! She has been able to take steps since august (before we went away) but she would fall over after 2. Then on holiday, the floor was too hard and she didn't really try and we didn't practice with her. we've not been back 2 weeks yet and she can stay up all the time now.

I miss my baby! Sad

She is 1 tomorrow.
