All back from holiday and it seems I was on the same holiday park as Cinnamon. Wish I had known as we could of had a mini meet up and invited Dixie

We had a great time, even though mobile signal was horrendous so we missed out on seeing more of the family. Weather was good, apart from the day we went to Isle of Wight. On the whole though a great time. Lucy went in the borrowed sling a few times, I so wish I had had one last year, very comfy. DD2 was a tantrumming monster but we kept hwer going and I know she was tired. DS was brilliant and very well behaved, sea air chills him out and dd1 had a great time and managed the train journeys really well.

Comix don't get too hung up on weight gain this early on, he will grow as he wants to grow not by some chart. If you can, stop the ff top ups. I know he has one then sleeps and you feel he is full from the ff but really he is struggling to digest it which is why he sleeps. Your milk is plenty good enough for him. I tandem fed with dd2 and Lucy and it took a few days/weeks of cluster feeding for her to gain weight. I believed in my milk and knew it was the best thing for her and kept going and look at her now she is huge and healthy.

Offer him the breast as often as you want and let him dictate to you if he wants a full feed. Sleep is hard come by in this early stage and remember going from 1 to 2 is really hard in the early days but worth it in the end.

It was a shame Debs75, I said to dh of we'd realised sooner than the night before you left we could have had a cuppa and a chat :)

Happy birthday Aphra, hope you all have a lovely day!

comixminx · 02/09/2012 21:20

Thanks all! The ikea kitchen went down a storm, but has been eclipsed by the really amazingly impressive rocking horse that DP's dad made - there's a site on the internet where you can buy the plans for making it and they will also supply the accessories (bridle, saddle, mane, tail). It looks awesome!

patito · 03/09/2012 14:24

Hi girls

Sorry it´s been so long since Ive been on.

First a big Happy Birthday to jacob and isobel, Lucy,
Ollyand Olly! Hope I didn´t miss anyone. I hope you all had a absolutly fab 2nd birthday. we had soo much fun on Maia´s birthday (sat 1st). We spent the day at the beach and then came home at tea time for cake and pressies. I made her a carousel cake as she loves horses and she went mad (which made me v. happy).

She so lovely, she runs everywhere, shouts and screams and loves her babies and horses. She calls me "silly mummy" in a very serious voice if I try to put her shoes on for her (something similar). Ds was so lovely on her Birthday, he made her a bed for her dollies from a old box which he painted. he than made her map and hid her present. so cute!

Can I aske for a update from everyone, as Im never gonna be able to do a catch up.

Oh and we´´ve nearly almost bought a house. Offer been accepted, so just paper work to sort out. Very excited, Ive always rented and can´t wait to have ALL my own furniture!!! I cant wait to go shopping Wink

patito · 03/09/2012 14:27

Sorry this is late patito

Hi all

Quick update:

Maia Grace was born this morning at 11am, had a beautiful home birth. Woke at 5:30 am with full contractions, called the MW round. Things slowed down at 7 ish when DS woke up, I got in the bath and DS went out with playground friend at 9:30. Out the bath at 10am and Amaia arrived at 11am!!

Happy birthday Maia!

Commix

Hi all, I haven't yet caught up with the thread - though I did see patito's post about Maia Grace, lovely stuff! Our little girl Aphra was born at 00:50 on 2nd Sept - we transferred to hospital for the last bit of labour due to an alert on my blood pressure, though actually all was fine and we suspect it was just because the latent stage had gone on long enough that I was in quite a lot of discomfort overall

Happy Birthday Aphra!

Not much to report here Patito, We've had a hectic few weeks with both boys birthdays and me having some time off work. But its all going to end now cos Toby starts school on wednesday and I'm back at work next Tuesday. I've had a bit of crappy news about work, the structure is all changing so I may be moved to a different area with different people. That doesn't bother me too much, what bothers me is that its my boss who has agreed to me changing my working hours to fit round the school run. Its purely a verbal agreement and isn't contracted. If my new boss isn't as understanding I may be in trouble!!!!!
I've also made an appointment with the solicitor to sort our wills out. We've had to have a serious talk about what we want to happen to the boys. Horrible horrible thoughts but its sorted and everyone agrees so although I can't bear to think about it, its a strange kind of weight lifted!!!!!

Anyway, back to happy thoughts,

13th August - jacob and isobel - sassy
14th August - Lucy - debs
31st August - Olly - diddly
1st September - Maia - Patito
2nd September - Aphra - comixminx
13th September - Luke - cinnamongreyhound
14th September - Grace - newmum001
4th October - Arlo - dixiebell

Dixiebell · 04/09/2012 18:12

Just booked a night in a hotel for DH and I. Our first away from Arlo. Thought it was about time!

cinnamongreyhound · 06/09/2012 07:24

Sounds great Dixiebell! I'm rubbish, dh gets annoyed at me because as soon as I'm awake in the morning I want to go and get them! They sleep at my mums about once a month, usually because I get fed up of ds1 asking if he can have a sleepover at nanny's!!!

patito · 10/09/2012 18:38

Hi

Thank you Diddly! I hadn´t realised you´d been putting up the birth posts. What a lovely reminder. I hope your new boss is reasonable with your hours.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. We had a BBQ with friends and DS had 3 stiches put in for running into a wall Sad. He´s fine now, it took me longer to get over it.

Tomorrow Im off to local library to pick out a room for starting a parent/child group, yohoo! only 4 yrs planning it Shock.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/09/2012 21:35

Sounds exciting patito!!! We went to the new group for childminders today, there were only three of us but was nice :)

Wondered today how Luke can be so cute and infuriating at the same time!!! I have been asking him who's birthday is soon he was saying 'MEEEEEEEE!' now he says 'Tractor Birthday'. Looks like ds1 has been teaching him, luckily my John Deere Party stuff arrived today and I've got him a John Deere tractor cake topper too. Plus a tractor balloon and an actual tractor toy :) I'm very excited about his birthday! Dh and I have the day off (although I still have my before and after school kids :()

comixminx · 11/09/2012 11:17

Good stuff on starting a new parent/child group, patito! I'd love to go to or even start a Latin American group here, because I know there are loads of Brazilians and other spanish-speaking Latin Americans here, but no baby groups, which is a shame - it would be something great to take Aphra along to, and later on Bruno of course. Don't feel I have time or energy to start one up myself right now mind you, but who knows, maybe later... Also, sorry to hear about your DS's stitches - hope you've recovered too! Smile

cinnamon, sounds like a cool theme for a party! Hope you have a lovely day...

dixie, enjoy the night away! Don't think we've had one either actually.

diddly, good luck with your new boss - fingers crossed...

Well, Bruno is doing quite well: he's finally putting on weight (phew) and starting to get more of a defined sleep / awake routine, and the nights are getting a bit easier. Next thing is to put together his baby hammock, but we need to buy a new mattress first. Aphra is still being lovely with him, though she is being pretty insistent about wanting more breastfeeding - she's being more fussy with solid food which is a pain but then that is the sort of phase that they go through, I know.

"hello" beadit here. Disappearing again now to do a huge catch up and steal birthday cake ideas for Jack! Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 12/09/2012 23:13

Feeling very emotional at the moment! Excited for tomorrow, sad that he's growing up too quick and gutted that all my plans for the weekend have been ruined and worried because they're ruined because my stepdad isn't well. Will focus on the excitement and try to forget the rest! Off to bed now :)

comixminx · 13/09/2012 01:50

Happy birthday Luke! Saw the FB pic, looks like it will be an awesome day. (Sorry to hear that the weekend will be difficult & that your stepdad is ill though... :-( )

Happy birthday Luke. Hope you enjoy the day cinnamon.

PolkaDotMoon · 13/09/2012 23:50

Happy Birthday Luke! Just got there in time Grin
Also to all the birthday boys and girls that I've missed... Happy Birthday!

newmum001 · 14/09/2012 12:58

Happy birthday to luke for yesterday, lost the group but i wrote on your wall yesterday cinnamon.

Grace is 2 today!!!! We went a bit over the top present wise but i dont care she loved everything and took her time opening and playing with everything in turn. Hung a postnan pat birthday banner on her bedroom door for when she woke up and she was so excited. She opened one present in our bedroom then came downstairs to open the rest. She was so giddy theres the cutest video of her on facebook. The first thing she said was thank you and she kept saying it over and over. My family have been over this morning and completely spoilt her and dp's family are coming round this afternoon for round 2. She's asleep now so having a much needed break. Im bloody exhausted but really happy and emotional. Roll on christmas :)

Dixiebell · 14/09/2012 13:39

Happy birthday Grace!

cinnamongreyhound · 15/09/2012 16:14

Saw your post thanks newmum001! Glad you all had a good day, birthdays are so emotional!!

Lucy and Charlotte where 2 on Thursday too.

We had a lovely day, pressie, school run, playing with pressies, few errands for mummy, McDonald's and park, another school run, tea and a visit from Nanny and grandad. We're going to my mums tomorrow as sw insisted but my stepdad isn't well and I've made her promise I can help. Not sure how useful I can be as I managed to faint this morning in the shower room and have done something to my foot! It's pretty swollen and I can't put any weight on it. Managed to hop and crawl about so far. I'm so annoyed at myself I have low blood pressure so get light headed a lot and sit down when I do but I thought I'd be fine carried on and next thing I was on the floor with dh next to me witha very sore foot. Can't do anything today and who knows if I'll be able to work Monday. Still got to ice Luke's cake for tomorrow so will be doing a good impression of a flamingo! Stupid, stupid, stupid! Plus I can't run and I haven't been out since Sunday due to circumstances so I'm very frustrated!!!

comixminx · 18/09/2012 11:22

cinnamon, I've seen your FB updates: ouch!

Quick moment of panic: it's Talk Like A Pirate day tomorrow and Aphra's nursery say we should send her in dressed in something suitable. But what? How do I dress a two year old like a pirate? Put stubble on her using makeup, perhaps!?

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 18/09/2012 11:26

I would buy a costume comixminx but it's a bit short notice!! Stubble, eye patch, hat, parrot on shoulder. Google some images to give you an idea of clothes, maybe a belt too or somehow make it look like she has a peg leg?
