Thought this title was appropriate given that (hopefully) things will be looking up for everyone!

Evening, this quiz is very addictive but may not manage the proposed topics well. what about general knowledge or is that too boring!

Milward hope dd is recovering well

Jaamy - how's the prepartions for the baptism going. I think we're organised. Ended up with two godmothers as couldn't think of any suitable men for god father!!

beatie · 22/02/2006 20:41

I'd prefer more general topics too. Apart from Desperate Housewives I'd be crap at the rest.

beatie · 22/02/2006 20:48

Oh PC - the toy is called a Skwish. I got it for dd1 at 8 months old and she was never into it but Alice loves it. She holds it for ages and always manages to get a nobbly bit in her mouth.

beatie · 22/02/2006 20:49

BTW - I'm so touched by the lovely comments on DD's phots I don't know why I changed my id to post them. I suppose I worry someone I know might see the photos and then look up the archives of my username.

Silly really. I don't know anyone who spends time on any Internet forums.

pooka · 22/02/2006 21:43

They're lovely photos Beatie. Really must get around to getting mine on there.
I'll vote for general knowledge/trivia for the quiz as well as Rhumba and SR.
Had a good day today - minimal shouting. Have worked out that if I put on a russian accent and pretend to be Miss Lily from Angelina Ballerina, dd really cooperates. I may sound stupid in the supermarket, but at least we're all smiling!

wabbitintheheadlamps · 22/02/2006 22:51

sorry, sorry about the tasteless fishy invocation must have been the heightened state of nerves! (and I have to admit to a teeny weeny bit of fondness for her... not when she's flaming, but she can be funny)

Mummyhill - he was as good as his word (for once ) Aaargh! I was all resolute this weekend when my brother was so convincing!
I purposefully didn't talk about 'us' today as I've already set Sunday asside for that - today was a lovely suspension of disbelief, easier coping with my separation anxiety (I know, I know, Conrad's supposed to feel that!) I was probably being a wuss but the loss of trust was really playing on my mind... better for now anyway and today was a success

Sorry - I've opted out of the quiz for the moment, I'm so bad at them

Have a good night all xxx

mummyhill · 23/02/2006 09:05

RZ Quiz is Here

I possibly could of given David the pink milk but was concerned that it would upset his tummy. I know that if I had of been breast feeding I would probably not of noticed, it was only because it was all ebm that I noticed and though about it iyswim.

Pooka - LOL at Miss Lilly impressions. I see much stranger sights than that though whilst sat at the till at the local supermarket, I allways try to have a chat/entertain any bored children to give the parents a chance to pack in peace as I get into the zone and their shopping just whizzes down the shoot. Luckily for them I also pack if I see it building up a bit.

Wabbit - Glad it went well yesterday but please don't lose your resolve. You have to deliver the ultimatum and see what happens otherwise he may decide that he can walk all over you and I don't think you want or need that hun. I must confess that I too like she who must not be named when she is behaving and find her quite amusing.

I am shattered. Got in from work last night at 12. Managed to settle down and doze off when david woke up. DH hadn't changed his nappy before puting him down and the poor little mite was soaked. I changed him and put him in some nice clean clothes and gave him the milk he wanted but couldn't find the energy to chnge the crib so had him in bed with me. Just dozed off again when dd wets her bed. Finally got her changed, sorted out her bed and got her to settle. Went back to my bed and dozed off when the alarm clock went off arghhhhhhh I want some child free time so I can sleep!!!!!!

Simplyred · 23/02/2006 10:05

Hello!

Its been snowing for some hours here - but not settling as yet. Think I may go and get Rachel weighed later.

You must be exhusted Mummyhill - wish I could send you some sleep! But I am wishing you a better night tonight.

Glad you like the middle ages too RZ - I always like to talk about anything at dinner partys - that will stop people talking about politics!

mummyhill · 23/02/2006 10:18

Thanks simplyred. It wouldn't be so bad if it was a one off ut most nights follow this patern atm and as dd does half days it is difficult to catch up.

wabbitintheheadlamps · 23/02/2006 13:25

Hello!
Mummyhill - you must be shattered I wish your hubby was more inclined ot give you a hand - he's surly not incapable of getting up and changing Nats sheets and giving her a love before she settles again. He must know how tired you are Though I do understand that some men just don't 'do' domestic stuff

Pooka - yes I loved your entertaining ploy too! I bet it felt so much better than the 'face off' type battle that can ensue with a determined toddler! Are boys less prone to battles of will at all?

SR - it's just stopped snowing here, it didn't settle either but it was lovely to see it falling outside my window whilst feeding the little man in bed... dd was getting ready for school and popping in and out and I was all happy doing my favorite type of mild disapproval!!! (that woman on Radio 2 - don't know her name but she's just rather pants as a human)

RZ - I thought your comments on the cross-dressing thread were really sensitive It's the first time I've been active on a thread where the authenticity of a post has been doubted in that way...

Right - C is sleeping so I'm going to get on with some reading ... I'm actually enjoying preping for an essay for the first time in ages

Oh Mummyhill - Yes the resolve! I'm glad yesterday was left as a day all about C and not our 'issues' Sunday's the day for that and I'm steeling myself for the 'ultimatum' but one thing is for certain, this can't just be ignored and swept under the carpet - unless I tell him what I expect from him for us to continue as a couple, he will take advantage and I will be hurt... so please do keep on at me

wabbitintheheadlamps · 23/02/2006 13:28

PC - You've not asked for an 'extension' you know Where's your Barcelona Report? hmmm?? hmmm??

RedZuleika · 23/02/2006 15:06

Hello.

Wabbit: thank you. I was surprised at the ferocity with which the comments were dismissed. I think long time posters forget that it's possible people might be moved to come on here because they have a have a problem which is outside 'normal' parameters. I mean, potentially you could discuss weaning / nappies / pocket money etc with your friends, but you'll probably want anonymity for discussing cross-dressing.

This site reminds me sometimes of all the reasons why I hated a girls' school. Did you see that thread the other day about who the long time posters were?? How cliquey is that??

Incidentally, Wabbit, hope things go ok on Sunday. I only finished reading your other thread the other day so hadn't got around to contributing to it. I hadn't realised that there was such a proximity in time between your son's birth and the other alleged conception of the other one. Personally, I wouldn't think about your conversation as an 'ultimatum', just as a statement of fact: I cannot be your partner if you do x,y and z; I am prepared to do a), I'm not prepared to do b). What he chooses to do with this information is then his decision as an autonomous, supposedly responsible adult. You don't sound like a bullying kind of person at all, but I've just noticed some men seem to (childishly) bridle at the thought of being told what to do. Even when it's in their best interests . Good luck.

Mummyhill: I don't know how you manage. I get emotional and irrational without a reasonable amount of sleep.

Beatie: she looks like a little elf. Mine used to look like an elf too. Now she's more like a big pudding (a very cute pudding though...)

SimplyRed: I don't want to worry you, but I am very careful about accepting cheques for Ebay purchases. There was some controversy in the news a while ago about how cheques can be recalled even after they've cleared through your bank account. Can't remember the specifics, but I always take paypal for larger amounts, even with the fees.

Snowing here too. But big flakes, very soggy and not sticking.

MIL has taken the dog and baby out for a walk. Peace reigns. I might even be able to finish my book (if I stay off Mumsnet). And I'm going out for a couple of pints tonight (am a beardy real ale drinker and haven't had any for aaaaaaages). Practically a day of bliss...

beatie · 23/02/2006 15:25

"Beatie: she looks like a little elf." RZ ~ are you saying my baby has big ears?!

Just joking. Actually her ears do stick out a bit - I measured them with a protractor in the early days and went looking for infornation on what angle of protrusion constitutes abnormality She appears to be growing into her ears, if they were ever really stuck out abnormally, and the protractor is staying in the drawer.

Mmmmm, a night out drinking real ale? Yummy. Do you live near a nice pub? Enjoy yourself... as if you need to be told.

milward · 23/02/2006 15:27

hello all xxx

dd1 back from hospital & has 3 weeks off school to recover. She's been so brave. Yesterday was difficult with all kids but today dd2 at school so went easier as dd3 couldn't punch her!! I feel exhausted! We're using the xmas walkie talkies to keep in touch as I'm doing tasks & looking after other kids! Have to remember to say over & out! dh has spent 2 nights at the hospital, got ready there & gone to work! - so he'll be back as well. thank goodness!!

rz - hope you're evening is great!
wabbit - thoughts to you xxx good luck with the uni work.
mummyhill - hope you get some sleep. Wee at night is awful to deal with - just hope it goes better tonight. hope work is ok.
simplyred - a slimming world consulant sounds great - you must be doing well.
pooka - lol at the russian accent!

will write more but d3 shouting toilet downstairs!!!.....

mummyhill · 23/02/2006 17:04

I have opened the quiz up to the rest of mumsnet, there is a new thread dedicated to it rather than taking over the antenatal thread with it. it can be found here

mummyhill · 23/02/2006 17:05

Yipee the link worked!!!!! think I have the hng of them finally, have only been on the site 15 months before getting the hang of it all!!!

Simplyred · 23/02/2006 17:46

Thanks RZ - I got my cousin at the bank to confirm the cheque was cleared with no chance of claw back. However I did also read that Paypal payments can be clawed back upto 3 months after receipt of payment if the card is found to be a lost/stolen credit card. I am generally very wary of e-bay. Cross dressing sounds interesting - I never understand why its a problem how anyone wants to present themselves to the world - do have a problem with sandles and hairy legs though - male or female or whatever!

Milward - glad dd home to recover.

Beatie - you really measured dd's ears!!! - My dd has floppy ears at the top as the cartilidge is thin - I called her Elfie! must go measure them! She weighs 16.5 lbs!!!

milward · 24/02/2006 13:26

hello xxx - yesterday dd3 had diarhea (can't spell it!!)when I went downstairs to see what was happening & also this morning!! - ahhhhh!!!!

mummyhill - might ty the quiz although I'm rubbish at them!! I tried the moving block game the other day from one of the threads & did ok!

wabbitintheheadlamps · 24/02/2006 17:03

Hello all

Milward - your poor dd, diarrhoea (oh lord I'm actually going to look up the spelling now, I've come over all unsure now I see it in type) Yup diarrhoea! it tends to get from one to another like wild-fire, hope you don't end up having a horrendous weekend of it x

I think i forgot to say, our little man went to the Doctors on Weds, the doc wasn't worried about his awful sounding cough but very concerned about his weight With the cold he's had C's lost weight over the last week and is not 11lb 15oz which takes him below the percentile lines
Have to say the doc wasn't pushing me to stop bfing - but I have decided that as well as our baby-moon that I'm doing today (the rest of the world has just had to stop and I've only just got dressed! [totally unashamed emoticon] I'm going to start giving him a bottle of formula a day over this first week and upping this to 2 bottles next week... I feel a traitor to the cause but badly want C to start gaining, he's got another appt next week and if he's not back up into the percentiles he'll be referred to a paediatrician.

Sorry I do ramble don't I?

wabbitintheheadlamps · 24/02/2006 17:05

Urgh - 'is now 11lb 15oz'

Simplyred · 24/02/2006 18:23

Wabbitt - don't feel a traitor not to soley breast feed - he's getting all the goodness from you and little extra bulking from the formula - ds was a little baby upto 12 months - hard to believe that now! and pj's all day sounds good to me!

Sorry about dd3's diarrhoea Milward - hope its gone now! and not passed on. There are so many yucky bugs around. Soon be spring!

Must go and 'do' bed time!

milward · 24/02/2006 20:11

wabbit - hope the baby moon goes well. Bf as much as possible. If he's growing in length & head circumerence along the growth curves then this could be considered as good indicators of growth - despite the weight gain.

milward · 24/02/2006 20:16

thanks simplyred & wabbit - dd3 seems ok - but these things can come & go - just hope dds don't get it. dd1 can't laugh without her op hurting! - realised today just how much we laugh & joke at home!

good luck with bedtime - sr
thanks for checking the spelling!! - wabbit

best wishes xxx
