Hi Flisspaps how are things going there. I could come and do the paintwork for youWink. If I didn't know any better I would day I was nesting Confused Grin. xx

Pitmountainpony · 28/05/2012 14:15

Hello folks. Been I'll for two weeks so out of the loop.Good to hear how you are all getting on.knackered most days this end.poor baby gets so little attention as my ds demands most of it!
Just wondering if anyone has considered contraception yet?
Trying to decide between the Mirena or the copper coil....terrified of having it in but my ob convinced me your cervix is more flexible in the few months post birth so a good time to have it inserted.
My dh would like a third baby but I am not so sure so need to prevent the decision being taken out of my hands.
Anyone with any insight on either pease do share.....due at doc tomorrow for it!!
Somebody gave us a co sleeping cot which is now at the edge of the bed.....it is brilliant and I am getting better sleep.
A birthday party to go to tis morning and a leaving do BBQ thus afternoon.....so busy day ahead!!

spannermary · 28/05/2012 14:23

Fliss that's impressive! 3-6 months already! It's true, Bill was on the 25th percentile at 3 weeks. He's quite dinky. But to me he looks massive now.

And yes, yummy, far too quickly. I flick from wanting him to grow because I can't wait for him to fit into some of the lovely outfits people have bought (particularly a rather fine rock star babygro!) to feeling like my little boy is going to be a young man far too soon...

And with regard to the nesting instinct: careful, girlie, you don't want to get yourself another bump quite yet!! GrinWink

Right, we are off to Yorkshire Sculpture Park for the afternoon, because apparently the weather isn't going to last many more days...

Thaleia · 28/05/2012 14:25

Time, glorious time ... Raphael is 4 weeks old tomorrow. Amazing!

Don't want to bore you with things in the past but had the most horrendous 10 days with hysterical crying, non-stop feeding, expressing, top-ups, not sleeping and self hatred - and all for nothing.

Stopped all that nonsense and at the next weight check, DS was at the 75% line for weight and I've got it confirmed, in my little red book, that I now have a happy, healthy, chubby (not really - he's sooo long) little darling boy.

Are you on some sort of a routine? Is it possible to actually have one already? We only figured out in the last 2 days - after waking Raphael for every feed - that he actually is a 4hrs little person. So he's super ready at that time and I'm ensured, that's still normal and we go with it. Works so much better for us, especially at night. Although,we need to work on the settling bit as this can take up to 45 mins. How quickly do you managed and are there any tricks or hints?

Tried to have sex on Saturday, did not work. I had a c-section but was so tight and it just would not give. We had to stop. Also, I'm still bleeding and after our stunt, I'm actually bleeding a bit more. I hope it'll sort itself out soon.

About feeling broody ... I'm thinking about the next one but have been told by one MW that one should wake 18months after a section to let it heal completely. So not sure about no 2.

Enjoy the sunshine, it'll only last for a few more days!!!

Flisspaps · 28/05/2012 15:47

Thaleia I am glad that things are working out for you Grin

No routine here other than we get up at the same time (when DH gets up), get dressed and fed and then DD and I have lunch at some point between 12 and 2, DD goes to bed at 6.30pm ish and DS goes to bed (ie I feed him, put him in the moses basket, he wakes up so I feed him again, put him back in the moses basket and hope he stays asleep in there for four hours) whenever DH and I go to bed.

Any pattern you figure out now is highly likely to be thwarted next week when Raphael completely changes his mind about when he wants to eat/sleep on a whim (and so on for the next few months)

Around 4 months is probably when you can start to build a proper routine or make it worth starting to set a bedtime, especially if your BF.

LaTristesse · 28/05/2012 16:01

Pit, I'm also considering a coil. For me I think thd copper one will work better although I've heard if can make your period heavier. Thd Mireba seems to give some folks weight gain, mood swings, acne etc, which I could do without, and as i'm planning on bf-ing as long as possible the copper one sounds like it would suit me. There is lots of discussion over on the family planning board...

Looks like the weather is about to break here: storm brewing!

newmummyvicky · 28/05/2012 16:51

hi girls,

I cant believe little Lyra is 8 wks now. Ive had her crying loads today, i think the heat is getting to her. she not able to sleep much today, ive now put a fan in our front room and stripped her down to her nappy she seem alot happier!
she is feeding a bit strange today did a 15min feed at 10am, then a 5 min at 11 and at 12, and managed to get her to do 15mins at 230 this afternoon. Now asleep on hubby!

Ive had a bit of bleeding the last few days, might be my period but does seem alot lighter? dont even need a pad, just a panny liner.
I stopped my bleeding after the birth after about 3/4 weeks, but did have a day of bleeding on 6 week check. Doctor didnt check me down below, they dont seem to now!
Im back on my normal pill now and had sex this wk end. Before that tried it at around week 4-5 and wasnt too good. I feel im nearly back to normal now :)

Breast feeding is going better, right nipple isnt so painfull , still slapping on the nip cream and feeding in the rugby ball. I think there is still abit damage for getting wrong latch on from before!
If anyone would like a recomendation of a good breast pump- i really love the electric meldela one, brought it off my friend and is it amazing. I can now pump up 180ml from both boobs! really is worth the money, hated hand expressing- takes too long and my hand avent pump is painfull.

kat1885 · 28/05/2012 16:55

Aaron is also outgrowing his newborn clothes. He is 4 weeks today but will be a month old in 2 days. Will be having him weighed next week and he will Deffo be over 10lbs.

Got out for a lovely walk today as although its still warm its cooled to 20 here which is much better for a baby.

Yummymummyyobe1 · 28/05/2012 17:15

spannermary No chance of another bump just yet, I might be a domestic godess (LOL) but Hanky Panky is off the cards. Too tired. Wink it is frightening how quickly they grow.

Thaleia Sounds like things are going better for you.

kat1885 Aaron sounds to be doing really well. Harry is now 9lbs 6oz (as of last Friday and seems to put on around 3oz a week.

HV this end gave us the heads up to feed Harry oranage juice (fresh with boiled water) he loved it. xx

PnewmummyvickyMulti Mam Instant Moisturising Nipple Balm 30ml

Thaleia · 28/05/2012 18:20

newmummyvicky try Multi Mam Instant Moisturising Nipple Balm 30ml or Multi-Mam Instant relief compress 12 pack. It did wonders for me!

For good or bad, we are now using a dummy and I have to say it works, we have a sucker and it really helps to calm him down. Not whilst I'm typing this as there is now screaming in the background but in general, I think it helps.

VintageNancy · 28/05/2012 20:47

Thaleia we use a dummy too - helps calm her when I can't use a nipple ie we're in the car or I'm trying to eat dinner in 5 minutes flat!

Bananna1 · 28/05/2012 20:57

Gosh, don't know what we'd have done without a dummy - Mathias screams quite a lot as it is, and the dummy really soothes him!

We bought condoms Saturday in readiness for some action that night. We were both so exhausted though, nothing happened. Not sure when we'll get round to it again as the girls are up and about later than us in the week. DH has an appointment at the doctors next week for the snip - 4 dc are enough for me!!

But Matti is 4 weeks old tomorrow and I do hate it going by so quickly. He is still really small though and in his newborn clothes, so I feel like I,m getting to enjoy my last one for longer :)

JambalayaCodfishPie · 28/05/2012 21:23

Everyone's having sex except me. Sad

kat1885 · 28/05/2012 21:34

Jambalaya - I'm not having sex just contemplating it.

We use a dummy too or try to. Aaron hasn't got the hang of it but always wants to suck. He wants his finger but doesn't have the coordination (he accidentally got it up his nose earlier, I laughed).

Nordicmom · 28/05/2012 21:40

Hi everyone! We are finally back in the UK! I'm so glad to be back in my own house!!! 5 1/2 w in hotels with two small kids was more than enough. DH will stay home this week to help us get settled then thankfully it's DS half term next week so can try to get into a sensible routine with both DC . Need to for the school runs etc. DD is well . 5 weeks today. I'll write a longer post another time.

Nordicmom · 28/05/2012 21:42

... Using a dummy too . Didn't with DS but it's been a lifesaver with DD!she has her moments:)

Flisspaps · 28/05/2012 22:27

Welcome home Nordicmom Grin

Cutelittlecatlover · 28/05/2012 23:00

Hi everyone, its been ages since I posted on here. Dd is 6 weeks today! She's dropped from the 50th percentile down to the 25th which is a slight concern but as shes feeding well and lots of wet and pooey nappies hv is just going to keep an eye on things. I was thinking she must have gained loads as there never seems to be a minute she's not attached to me so was really shocked when the hv told me her weight. Ds went from the 9th line straight up to the 91st within a few weeks (ebf) so this is all new to me. She seems happy and alert and the hvs not overly worried so I think she's just going to be dainty.

Has anyone taken their toddler with them for their 6 week check? We've got ours tomorrow and theres no one to look after 2yo ds so he will have to come with us. I'm still having some pain where the stitches were and the scar feels raised and hard so I really want him to check it but I'm worried he'll refuse with ds there, is that likely or am I being paranoid?

Glad to hear everyones doing well. Jambalaya you're not the only one not having sex, there are not enough hours in the day!

VintageNancy · 28/05/2012 23:36

I'm not having sex either Jambalaya Wink At night all I want to do is sleep and Emily stays in bed with us after her
5am feed so not much opportunity!

VintageNancy · 28/05/2012 23:57

Glad you're home Nordic - hope the jet lag isn't too bad.

justhayley · 29/05/2012 00:09

I have my 6 week appointment tomorrow - I though I would be getting my stitches checked but by the sound of things I won't be. I was mainly going to ask about the possible piles although that seems to gave totally gone on it's own so dont really fancy having a bottom check for no reason!

Wow I'm getting excited that Noahs just starting to fit into newborn stuff lol. He's 6 weeks but was only 5lbs when born so has been in prem clothes. Had him weighed last week and he was 7lbs 8 so getting there. HV was pleased with his gain. He seems massive to me but I guess is still teeny for 6 weeks.

We are also are going to a postnatal class tomorrow. Not sure what to expect - I'm mainly going to meet new people. I'm new to my area and with my DP at Sandhurst & family not too local I'm in need of adult company.

I need to think about contraception. (let's face DP finished on me rather than in the other day). Not sure what my options are whilst breast feeding so will ask lots of questions tomorrow. I have PCOS and was told it was a miracle I got pregnant so not too stressed about it. Would love more children so feel abit strange about trying to stop it when I don't no if it could happen for me again later down the line.

Anyway just realised the time have no clue why I'm awake!

Night all sleep well - yeah right lol xxx

justhayley · 29/05/2012 00:11

Arrrr I meant let's say not let's face - that incident had nothing to do with my face lol

Pitmountainpony · 29/05/2012 05:03

Vintage.....green poo has gone to no poo now......the green stuff was odd.

Tris...thanks will check out that area of the board.....veering towards the copper one too, just to avoid the hormones.
Jambalaya......no, no , just gearing up for not getting pregnant when that area of life is active again.
Thalia......just wanted to say that what you are describing is very normal ESP after c section.....my ob said women don,t talk about it but it's more common than you realize......I just assumed the opposite was the problem after having a baby, instead of it being like trying to get a camel through the eye of a needle......which was my experience last time for the best part if a year......which was very unsettling at the time....as it was impossible. Thank god in that area my dh is very patient and understanding but I am Hoping it will not be so impossible this time.....yet to try.
On a more prosaic note has anyone,s baby not pooed for a few days.
Bo has only passed wee for 3 days now and she cries like she is in pain from 5 every evening....very hard to settle....so now I am thinking she could be more blocked up.
Anyway both kids fast asleep by 9 pm. My mum left yesterday after 5 weeks which is kind of a relief as we can now relax and get into a routine.
Ginger ale and choc cookies on the rocks on the bed whilst we watch Drive on Netflix.....that is as good as it gets really in my book.

kat1885 · 29/05/2012 05:13

Pit - Aaron gets backed up if we don't give him water as he's ff but if your lo is bf its not recommended.
