Did anyone see the article in the Sunday Times (and probably elsewhere) about demand feeding v routine? They found that demand-fed babies have a significantly higher IQ than babies fed on a schedule. Results were the same whether bf or ff. The article did say pity the mums of demand-fed babies though as I think it said they reported more feelings of depression etc

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 21/03/2012 13:18

Jiggle I did think about a watch actually. Not sure which one tho!

KateM77 · 21/03/2012 13:34

jiggle I ordered the neuro trac this morning so will have to let you know how it goes! I'm entered for a triathlon in Sept but still haven't done any exercise yet Blush so have no idea what effect, if any, the prolapse will have when running. Really must get my arse in gear.

Mmmm your comment has made me realise that when we go away self-catering at the end of May I'll likely be switching DS to formula and weaning too....hope the car will fit everything we need! Hope you have a lovely time next week.

There are two types of urinary incontinence, mopsy, urge incontinence when you "gotta go right NOW!" (and may leak if you don't hurry), and stress incontinence which is when you cough/sneeze/jump/bounce/run and the pressure makes you leak to varying degrees. Both can occur after childbirth and depend on if things were damaged during birth (and how they were to start with: ladies with no kids can get them too).

Sorry if that was TMI, but sometimes all the pelvic floors in the world don't sort things out!

Today it was all going so well until I saw Trial of a Timelord in CEX >_

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 21/03/2012 15:23

My Darcie has a migraine :( good thing I got to the school early...they were about to call me when I arrived to collect Darcie. She's already vommited twice since i've got her out of class - once on the grass at school and she pegged it up the stairs to the loo when we got home. Now in bed fast asleep.

hawthers · 21/03/2012 15:29

F was much better yesterday evening and this morning but has become grisly, very shouty and rather hot.

Weight gain still not as good as it needs to be. Sigh

DH working very late so I've got full double boy action all day....

hawthers · 21/03/2012 16:16

Hmm do I give calpol?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 21/03/2012 16:19

Give calpol if F has a temp - I would :)

mopsytop · 21/03/2012 16:20

Oh no, poor Darcie, migraines suck. I've suffered from them since a small child of six or so. I was allergic to chocolate. But sometimes ate some. Result vomiting and pain so bad I could barely see. It's horrible. My very cool and cOllected mother (6 kids from 6 down, including baby triplets) who I have never seen lose her cool or overreact told me lately that on some occasions, she was worried I had a brain tumor. So stressful for the mother too, clearly. Unfortunately, as you all know from this thread, I still suffer badly. Hope Darcie grows out of them!!

mopsytop · 21/03/2012 16:23

And Shock re: pelvic floor aethel! urrgh! Hope mine keeps up its good work!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 21/03/2012 16:25

Mopsy Thanks. Darcie looks so poorly when she has a migraine. I'm so proud of her as she is so mature about it, especially when she vomits. She's been suffering with them since the age of 5 :( and there is no medication I can give her until she is a bit older so she has calpol fast melts which seems to work well.

mopsytop · 21/03/2012 17:45

article on bilingualism

re: our discussion yesterday

Mmmmcheese · 21/03/2012 17:46

Had a depressing 20 mins this afternoon trying and failing to fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans :( maybe it will give me a kick up the bum though as have been quite bad about eating biscuits and chocolate recently. But means there is only 1 pair of jeans that fit me at the moment. I guess I won't need to pack much for my holiday!

NorthernChinchilla · 21/03/2012 18:00

Oooh, you vandal you aethel! Still, least it's a sophisticated colour Grin.

We did the same mmmm- hall/stairs in an off white, and dining room and kitchen in bright, pale lemon. We don't actually have a window in the dining room (long story) but it's the room that everyone ends up in, and the bright colour really helps.

Poor Darcie; it's bad enough for adults when you know, and can sort of rationalise migranes, and have the drugs, but for LOs it must be grim.

Have you given F Calpol hawthers? Hope its helped.

Not exactly the most thrilling day (trip to the chemist to get the thrush treatment, woo hoo) but I have ordered a buddleia 'Sungold' for the garden. The border is shrubs and trees (bar some ground cover, a few herbs, and some poppies) and they all flower orange, blue or white, so delighted with the orange/cream buddleja.
Plus, I like to have a bee/butterfly friendly garden, and so it'll help with that. I've got lots of lavender, roses, lilac, etc, so a buddleja will be a great addition- can't wait!

MissRee · 21/03/2012 18:02

mmm I bought one pair of jeans a size bigger than I was pre-preg just so I have a pair to wear comfortably! I can get in my old jeans but I'm not a fan of the "muffintop" look Grin

mopsytop · 21/03/2012 18:17

I have two pairs a size bigger than ore-preg (size 14 ) both from m&s, cheap but surprisingly flattering and nice. Wd never have even crossed my mind to look for jeans there but I really didn't want to spend much as hope to be back to 12s soon(ish).

mopsytop · 21/03/2012 18:21

You can have the drugs Northern, unless you are up the duff. The first 4 months of pregnancy with minimopsy I had migraines more or less constantly and all I cd take was paracetamol. It was a nightmare. looking back, I have no idea how I coped. I suppose I just did because I had no choice. But it was truly dreadful. I really really want minimopsy to have a sibling but I am just not sure I can go through that again :(

LittleMissFlustered · 21/03/2012 19:14

Losing the plot slightly. Might need tea.

aethelfleda · 21/03/2012 19:46

those of you with need for cheap jeans, I recolmend New look: their regular jeans come in several fits snd are only £12 -£20 a pair. I'm in their size-18s at the moment and that will be the case til I finish BFing and can get back on the exetcise wagon...

LittleMissFlustered · 21/03/2012 20:35

I find new look is one of the few places where you can buy a pair of jeans that isn't boot cut or skinny.

I have lost my gas card, this makes me grumpy. Have turfed the universe out looking for it. Might head for bed now, no use winding myself up further >_

OiMissus · 21/03/2012 20:52

Here, lmf Biscuit dunk away.
Sorry to hear about migraines, I knew you suffered mopsy, but I had no idea they could start so young. Poor Darcie.
I will be going a bit crazy with colour in the new house. (thanks for all the nice comments!) I've already planned my office: vibrant green and White wallpaper (very modern and funky), white furniture, with red accent colour -guess who's been reading this month's edition of House and Home, The Colour Edition?! -I was thinking bright orange as an accent colour, or yellow, but Ikea has a great White desk with red shelves as legs. It'll be fab. Grin
I need to calm down, we've got to buy the place first!

Figgygal · 21/03/2012 20:52

I've just had a wispa first chocolate for a week boy it was good!!

I'm now 6lbs up on pre preg weight considering I put on 3 stone I'm bloody impressed with even if LO weighed 9lb. Am back in my normal clothes too Grin

OiMissus · 21/03/2012 20:53

Why does this phone give White a capital letter???!
