ds's eat what we eat - but sometimes we whoosh it up for them This is mainly because ds1 has got an aversion to lumps - although he's getting better, which is a relief!

soooooo proud of ds2 who's settled into his new nursery class really well and they're all astounded at his vocab!! He's STILL falling off the bed though!

oh dear dot , bless him ds gets what we eat , but only tends to chat about it , rather than eat it , he eats toast and chips but feedibg him has always been a bit tricky as he decided v early on that it was going to be his thing to argue about and am trying not to be drawn into it trying to encourage exploring and familiarity . leaving it around until he just picks it up and eats on his own while no one is looking so to speak

Hi everyone! Ds has started eating with a spoon - I think he could do it for ages but was just lazy! Does everyone else's lo's sleep in the afternoon still? Ds is starting to fight his afternoon nap now I'm in MIL hell this weekend which isn;t helping "he probably doesn't need to sleep now" and other choice comments are driving me mad - I think I know him better than she does somehow (sorry, rant over!)

ds does need his 2 hour nap - but only if he has had an active morning. He just lazed about on Sat morning watching dvd's so just chatted and sang in his cot for an hour and didn't go to sleep at 1. But he went swimming yesterday and had a 2 hour nap as normal.
If I leave ds to eat on his own - he tends to get distracted by toys and things. I need to keep offering him.

ds2 still has an afternoon nap - and very much needs it! he can get away with having about 1.5 hours on a Monday - Friday, but on Saturdays and Sundays he often has longer as he's so tired from nursery - it's not unusual for him to have 3 hours and then we wake him up..! He'll still sleep his standard 12 hours a night - or 11 usually - although this morning they both slept in so I was late for work (of course this would never happen on a Saturday morning...)

Thank God my MIL is the other side of the world!!

It's amazing how different a second baby can be to your first

Dd still naps most of the time, some days she won't other days she could sleep for 3 hours. I let her do what she wants because she'll always go to bed at 7-7.30pm.

Have you sold your house yet Fennel?

Mrs D glad to hear you are deliriously happy Smile
house not sold yet no, lots of viewings but they all think it is too scruffy. houses not selling fast round here but am not too worried I think things pick up in the spring.

we have got new life sorted though. got house to rent and are moving in 2 weeks. also got new nursery for dd3, and new school for dd1 and dd2. all nice and close together so have already sold my car in anticipation of new cycle-friendly life.

am being very bad mother and currently training dd3 to watch cbeebies. she's never watched tv but she's off nusery sick this week, first time ever, and i am preoccupied wiht moving stuff and keep plonking her back in front of tv in a little chair whenever she budges. am sure this is not good parenting.

she still naps after lunch most days but not all. or this week, in the mornings, like now, as she's ill.

Mrs D, am already veteran of childrens tv from the other dds. just dd3 not yet keen. none of mine watched really before about 2.5 even when exposed via siblings. dd3 is downstairs now, the others are glued to the screen but she won't stay put.

dd3 has also learnt to switch my computer off if she thinks i am on it too long! at first i thought it was chance, now am convinced it's deliberate. she doesn't like the competition for my attention.

ds just loooves the tv. Its on from 6am till breakfast time - which gives me time to get ready for work. And then on from 4pm till bed time. I don't mind the babies programmes - its the older childrens stuff that does my head in - really loud and flashy lights. But its education. Yesterday ds was trying to get the wrapper off Nemo DVD and he gave it to me and kept saying Abrey - which is Spanish for open!! Got it from Dora.

Dottydot · 03/03/2006 14:24

ds2 is a complete CBeebies addict - asks for it as soon as he's finished breakfast, so we lie and say it's not on yet, but usually crumble at about 9am..! We're into the battles now between ds1 who always wants a video on and ds2 who's obsessed with CBeebies (ds1 being 4 has already outgrown that, obviously...).

Report
fennel · 03/03/2006 16:17

my 4 yo still likes cbeebies. but 5 year old finds it babyish. dd3 still not converted to any of it despite a week's intensive tv training.

Mr Mopple MrsD? Surely not?! Shock Grin

Have just been catching up on the thread. Your ds' non-operation sounds like a farce dolbear - getting close to it being done twice and then the surgeon saying he didn't need it after all!

Re food, I read somethying in the paper the other week where someone was saying that their toddler only ate bread, milk, fruit, cheese and ham - this is pretty much all dd eats too, although she does like pasta as well.

She naps most days, but it varies when.

ds is starting to go through a bit of a naughty patch... mainly physical stuff like banging his head against someone else on purpose and slapping (not really hitting - not that hard!) - he says "bash, bash, bash!" when he's doing it. So we're trying to take a hard line of zero tolerance but he just thinks it's a joke... Hmmmm - because he's so happy and laughs his way through each day he doesn't seem to get that this is naughty behaviour. He understands and hates the naughty stair, but even threats of that doesn't stop him.

Let's hope it's a toddler thing??!

Report
dolbear48 · 03/03/2006 22:34

yeah prob a toddler thing ds also had a thing of slapping also took 0 tolerance !

personally I think cbeebies chris i.e Mr Mopple , but don't ell the kids but they must notice is Sue's 'special friend ' not sure but pretty certain

m sure that ds is now convinced that kids nurses are strange ladies who have obbsession with puting magic cream on him and send him home again !

am v please with self as to date we are a Barney free zone !

hi HD.

someone is asking on another thread about anyone who goes to Woodcraft folk. are you still going?
am going to book dd1 in when we get to Exeter it sounds more fun than Brownies.

dd3 either is being very stroppy and demanding this week cos she's been ill or (horrid thought) we now have a toddler on our hands. she's really enjoying doing things we tell her not to to see what happens.

DS is 2 today!!

Where has the 2 years gone?? It's flown past.

After me saying he still takes his naps - he is now fighting them. I can hear him in his cot chatting and banging about for about an hour after I put him down.

Happy birthday tracyk's ds :)

Fennel - ds tried Woodcraft Folk (because I was interested in it) and Beavers - he was allowed to choose which one he wanted to carry on going to and he chose Beavers (mainly, I think, because he already knew more kids there - also, apparently, because the hall Beavers is held in is bigger!). He cried on his last evening at Woodcraft Folk, though. Think we were quite hard on him, making him make the decision.

Happy Birthday TracyK's ds!!! I'm in denial about my ds almost being 2 - he's still my baby... Mind you, he's practically living on the naughty stair at the moment - starting to bite when he gets really excited - grrrrr....
