Hello all. Couldn't see a new thread so thought I'd do the honours. Sorry for rubbish title, I'm no good at witty! :)

bookmarkign again!

Lunch went OK, but Mum a bit snobbish about the food :( kids tired and whiney some of the time, just a normal day really!!

Had a lovely day with Maebh swimming (she started swimming without armbands over the summer and is really proud of herself) and legoland discovery centre. She was crying when her dad picked her up :(

Off to one of those fashion shows tonight with cheap clothes, so hoping for a bargain. Should really come home open handed as my card was refused last month as I was over my overdraft limit Blush I've got some extra work in the evenings this year so hoping all will balance out.

Better go and make myself acceptable for an evening out. Have a good weekend :)

Badvoc · 14/09/2012 19:10

Have a good time ninja.
Hall, stairs and landing is almost finished and ....well...it's a bit....yellow...
Actually it's very yellow!
Oh dear.
Anyone know is Mrsa is doing?
(trying not to sound stalker ish)

Meglet · 14/09/2012 20:44

badvoc I was wondering too. mrsA hope you're ok.

First proper week of term seems to have gone well. DS's teacher seems nice, for a start she seems to hand out team points a little more evenly - the boys are getting points this term Hmm.

Badvoc · 14/09/2012 20:48

Ds1 is star writer of the week this week :)
This time last year he didn't even use vowels in his writing!
Hope you are ok Mrsa....thinking of you x

ninja · 15/09/2012 00:30

seen MrsA on facebook preparing for Charlotte's party. I'd forgotten that last time I was here she seemed upset, she sounds fine but I know she puts on a brave face for FB

So MrsA come and talk to us if you need to.

Got a fab dress btw :)

Meglet · 15/09/2012 18:33

I think most people put on a brave face on FB. Mine are currently feral and throwing water over each other in the garden, I have just yelled as they were trying to water the sodding garden chair cushions. I may have been googling Pistorius photos and am not doing anymore tidying today. Got e-baying to do though .

notcitrus · 15/09/2012 23:31

Ug. Dd has had lousy cold for last week so keeps waking up, just as A has been sleeping through after a couple token requests, like 'my toenail needs clipping'!
It's his party tomorrow and he's really excited. There's 7 kids his age, dd and an older and younger sibling, so should be ok I hope. Have mostly done goody bags, found present and paper and stickers to do pass the parcel, cake is baked, and most vital, the Octonauts icing cake topper has arrived. There will be frantic shifting clutter upstairs tomorrow! And finding suitable music so don't end up doing musical bumps to Sisters of Mercy...
They managed a 2 hour party at nursery with just a bit of food and lots of hitting each other with balloons, so it'll be ok, right? Just that my parents are still traumatised by my 4th birthday party and remind me of the horror regularly. Which is why I didn't invite 30 kids, don't have a white carpet, and am not even dreaming of trying to get them to sit still and play pencil and paper games. Involving writing.

Badvoc · 16/09/2012 08:54

NC :)
Hope all goes well.
Toby is abig octonauts fan too :)

notcitrus · 16/09/2012 23:55

Party was fab. :-)
10 kids in all, beautifully behaved or corralled by parents - A really does have a lovely bunch of friends. Putting sheets of stickers in pass the parcel was genius - they spent ages sticking them on each other.
Wine for the parents went down well too. :-)

StarlightMcKenzie · 17/09/2012 00:32

Yay for star writer Bad

Given our crazy moving thing, dd has no friends here really, so we had a family picnic, redid dd's room as much as we coukd given it's rented (stickers on our furniture rather than change walls) and took a sibling of Ds' classmates to buildabear.

StarlightMcKenzie · 17/09/2012 00:33

Sounds fun NC

Badvoc · 17/09/2012 08:21

We are having a family tea party on sunday for Toby.
Toby's d bay isn't til a week tomorrow but dh is off to the us on a business trip the day after :(
For 8 days.
Been ok about it til now...but now Toby is poorly (cold/cough) and I have been up all night with a stomach bug.
:(
Feeling a bit sorry for myself this morning...
Sounds fun NC!
I have got a piñata and pin the tail on the gruffalo game...got a gruffalo cake from sainsbos too:)
Hope we all feel better by then!

CappuccinoCarrie · 17/09/2012 10:00

badvoc you have my fullest sympathies. DH dropped into conversation last night that he went to Hard Rock cafe in Times Square on his trip last week Shock Envy. We've just about caught up on sleep (jet leg for him, exhaustion from looking after 3 kids single handedly for 9 days for me) with two epic early nights and a lot of tag-team naps in the day. I've asked him to ask his boss for waaaaaaay more notice of the next trip, so we can arrange for my mum to come and help.
All these parties sound fab! We've invited four families round next Monday, going to eat hot dogs and play pass the parcel. We've ordered DS1's present of the playmobil aeroplane, can't wait to see his little face when he opens it!

Meglet · 17/09/2012 10:18

bookmarking....

enjoying a late breakfast as it's my day off. DS is at school and DD is watching cbeebies. Need to get my backside in gear shortly.

badvoc really hope Toby feels better later.

Badvoc · 17/09/2012 10:58

Thanks meg.
Just hope we don't end up in hospital with him like we did last time.....
Carrie - that's my beef really...we get very little notice and then the length of the trip gets longer and longer as it draws nearer...
:(
This trip was supposed to be 5 days, now its up to 8.
What makes it harder is that I know,dh really likes travelling and staying in nice hotels and generally getting a break from home life...:(

CappuccinoCarrie · 17/09/2012 14:10

badvoc that's really hard :( DH's boss really likes going away too, he leaves early for the airport to have a nice leisurely dinner and make the most of the hotel, whereas DH puts the kids to bed, spends the evening with me and gets the last possible train and only spends about 5hrs in the airport hotel! He finds it hard the tension between making the most of it, and yet not having too much fun as that would make it infinitely worse for me! Work are pains for increasing trips aren't they? DH was only going to have to do 2, and its been at least 8 now :( But at least he has a job...
Really hope your tummy bug gets better soon Thanks

MrsA if you're reading this, your DCs look super cute in the birthday photos, hope you're all having fun!!

Badvoc · 17/09/2012 15:13

Carrie..lens boss is a drunken cheating child hating arse difficult.
He has no kids of his own, doesn't want any (fine) but consequently does not think it remotely out of order to ask dh to go to china for a week on ds1s birthday :(
Sigh.
I am trying to be supportive. I really am. Dh wanted to move roles, he was under a lot of stress in his old role and at least this new role will give him more experience...but.
It means - in real terms - that I can't go back to work any time soon. Toby doesn't start school til next sept and our parents are getting more frail and I seem to be the go to person for both sets (despite me having 2 siblings and dh having 1)
Mum is going in for angioplasty soon :( and my fil was 70 last week...I have been subtly trying to point out to dh and sil that pil are not as able as they once were but ATM its falling on deaf ears....
Am dreading it tbh...and we are missing out in a wedding reception and church function that I really wanted to go to as well :(
Sorry....feeling a bit sorry for myself today....

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 17/09/2012 21:23

I'm still here and lots and lots to share but not now.

Tomorrow I face my independent mw in court, suing her for our money back after walking out on me during labour.

Aside from my children and DP (and close family and friends and I include you all in this), this year has been the worst of my life since my dad died.

I will be back soon and will probably tell all as I find comfort in venting.

I am touched by your concern and good call over 'facebook face'. I'd knock em dead at poker if I played!

OP posts:
digitalgirl · 17/09/2012 21:35

badvoc Sad I'd be pissed off too if I were in your shoes.

nc glad party went well. I reckon there are far less E numbers floating round at children's parties nowadays and perhaps they're not as mental as they used to be!

Ds2 finally read the handover notes on sleeping that ds1 left him and is regularly waking every 2 hours through the night. And...what's that I hear? Oh it's the familiar teeth jarring whine from ds1 as he wakes up to find dh is not next to him. Im currently feeding ds2 after he woke up annoyed only 90 minutes after going to sleep. [yawns, drops iPhone]

digitalgirl · 17/09/2012 21:38

X posted MrsA good luck tomorrow, hope you win and really hope things start looking up for you. Xxx

ninja · 17/09/2012 22:14

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow MrsA I'm sorry you have to relive it all again. You're kids look great though and you get up to so much with them it's really lovely.

Sorry you're having a hard time {{{hugs}}}

NC well done on the party going well and not being complete chaos!

We're having a play place party as ExH booked it and I guess it is neutral ground and easy. He's told M she can't have much of a present as she's having an expensive party which is kind of fair enough - it's not like it was her choice though.

I have got her an easel as she always plays with them at other people's houses and loves painting and drawing so I hope it gets lots of use.

Badvoc sounds like you're having a tough time. It seems to be common (but clearly not fair) that once you're seen as a carer you get even more dumped on you.

Badvoc · 18/09/2012 07:44

Thanks everyone :) feel quite pathetic really, ESP as some of you are lps and do his every day! (blush)
Mrsa...so glad to hear from you. Am thinking of you today and sending love x
Remember....we are here. No judgement, just support x

DebiTheScot · 18/09/2012 10:33

Thinking of you today MrsA and hope you win and it's not too painful.
Your dd looked gorgeous and so grown up in the photos of her party.

Boo to husbands going away with work. I'm very lucky that mine hasn't been anywhere since he moved jobs 18 months ago (and before that he just had a couple of nights here and there). Although it would be nice to have him home before 6.45pm occasionally.

Star will your dd start pre-school (and so make some friends) where you've moved to? Are you settling in and making friends? How's ds getting on at school now?

StarlightMcKenzie · 18/09/2012 10:40

Good luck MrsA. Hope this is the beginning of the end and you're able to move on. I understand what it is like, having been through two tribunal processes in the last 3 years. It takes over your life and the anger you live with on a day to day basis is staggering. Hope you can get your life back together after today.

StarlightMcKenzie · 18/09/2012 10:42

Debi DD started nursery yesterday. She absolutely loves it and we already attended a small ballet class with a couple from her class in the afternoon, which was in a studio overlooked by the cafe so I got to get to know a couple of the mums too.

I'm getting there, but tbh making friends and getting settled in yet ANOTHER place is kind of hard. It's like doing freshers week for the third time. Once in a lifetime is really quite enough.
