Hello all. Couldn't see a new thread so thought I'd do the honours. Sorry for rubbish title, I'm no good at witty! :)

I'm still here all, lurking. Sounds exciting all this talk of Olympics. Have been watching the big stuff but mainly very busy. DS being christened on Sunday and DD has tonnes of parties to go to as lots of her friends have August birthdays (downside is they're all buggering off to school in Sept and she has a another year to go).
DP is in Glasgow all week, so muggins here has to clean house and buy and prep food for christening.
DS sleeping well, occasional 5.30am wakening but we can cope. I think I'll not get his tie snipped but he has his 8month check on Monday so I'll just get a final opinion.

I go back to work on 2 Oct and my boss has still not given me a decision on my request to work 4 days a week which i made back in MARCH!!! I'd rather a yes or no, at least I had certainty but not even that. I've made a complaint to HR and a director is following it up and this is just ridiculous - nursery need to know which days we need, especially as 4 days a week for 2 is £1,000 a month and 5 days a week for 2 is nearer £1,400 a month. Grrrrrrrrr.

I also have something going on that I can't share atm but it's as serious as it gets and I may need to share later as I'm bottling it all up. But I need some non-judgemental, sympathetic ears. I'm going to name change and post for help elsewhere (you guys are a bit too close to my life atm - sorry if that sounds too cryptic, just putting these sentences down is the start of a journey I don't want to go on but I must)

Hope you're ok MrsA. You know where we are if you need us.

Meglet · 08/08/2012 19:03

((hugs)) for MrsA.

Your bloody boss Angry. GGrrr.

debi & digi (and anyone else I may have forgotten) we need to try and have a very quick meet up at the paralympics if we're going to be at the park on the same day! We have park on the 1st and stadium on the morning of the 8th. Maybe I should suggest it in the London2012 topic, we could have a quick mass MN meet and turn up with Fruitshoots and naice ham sandwiches, the MN version of a rose Hmm.

Badvoc · 10/08/2012 12:02

Mrsa
Have seen your other thread.
Please pm me if you need to.
I have some experience of this.

Meglet · 10/08/2012 21:54

I am sitting her ignoring DD who went to bed almost 3 hours ago but has been up and downstairs and dashing across the living room ever since Angry. She's such a bloody terror, I'm not getting involved anymore this evening. I was holding her door for ages but she just kept screaming and I didn't want her to wake DS again so I had to let her come out, at least she's quiet.

Now she's picked up a book and taken it upstairs . She was bobbing around looking in the mirror and grinning just now.

I hope her behaviour / sleep gets better when she starts school next year.

digitalgirl · 12/08/2012 12:10

Our Paralympic stadium tickets are for Sunday 2nd. Anyone going then?

Have gp appointment tomorrow, AF cycles have been less than 2 weeks. Not quite what I was expecting when exclusively breastfeeding and pre-pg I was having 40-50 day cycles. Perhaps ovaries are trying to tell me something!

Oops, didn't mean for first post to happen.

Hi there, I'm back from a lovely week away with our family and my parents. We didn't leave Yorkshire but managed day trips entirely to places we've never been to before, so it felt like we were the other end of the country even though we kept passing signs that it was only 39miles to our home city!

Have had the sad realisation that after going back to work today, bar the bank holiday, DH won't take time off again til Christmas But Grin I can officially start counting down to Christmas Grin When does Strictly start?!!!

MrsA whatever it is you know that we're your friends and we've held each other's hands a lot through thick and thin over nearly 5 years now. We don't do judgey, this is not AIBU, this is tea and biscuits and sympathy and a lot of Wine

Badvoc · 13/08/2012 20:31

Usually the 1st week in October carrie!
but they have altered the running order haven't they? Last epyearnthere was a one off intro programme and then the series started 3 weeks later.
10 years this year!
(watches too much strictly)
We went to north yorks last month and it was great. Boys had a lovely time on the beach and at the sea life centre etc...
I love yorkshire...sigh :)

CappuccinoCarrie · 14/08/2012 14:21

Eeek, strictly! Oooh the 10th anniversary year, makes me feel so old, but hoping they do something even more special to celebrate.
Talking of celebrations, tomorrow is our 9th wedding anniversary :) Mr Tesco is treating us to a night out, we're so rock n roll!

Badvoc · 14/08/2012 14:36

Happy anniversary carrie! X
I will be doing up the church halls tonight for a holiday club one day event tomorrow at church (gulp)
That's reminds me...must get in with doing the badges!!

Meglet · 15/08/2012 21:45

badvoc how is your church group going? Was it Sunday school you were organising?

Badvoc · 15/08/2012 22:00

Hi meg
It was a one off fun day today for primary aged kids....had 38 of them running around :) it was ace.
We did an Olympic theme and did opening ceremonies, flags, medals, the works!
I am now in the Sunday school rota for oct and dec...I am pretty worried about this for several reasons :) I am not sure I am the best role model for young Christians!! :)
We are planning something really cool for Xmas though...we are very lucky in that our church is a beautiful medieval building and we are planning to make banners for the columns...huge ones in advent purple and gold letters!!
Hope it comes off....it will be a food community outreach project...guides/brownies/beavers/scouts/Sunday school etc
How are you finding the summer hols?
I am flagging now!....

DebiTheScot · 16/08/2012 07:57

Bookmarking. Nothing exciting to report...

CappuccinoCarrie · 16/08/2012 13:31

Sounds great badvoc!

I'm really glad we had our holiday at the start of summer, coz being at home feels like a novelty now and I'm not too sick of the sight of it! Give it another 2 1/2 weeks though ;)

My maternity exemption runs out tomorrow Shock Crikey that's been a quick year. Birthday not til the 28th though, pesky late baby! He's just started properly playing rather than just bashing stuff, which is a relief and lots of fun.

MrsA how are you doing? Loved the pics of your baking on fb :)

ninja · 18/08/2012 10:53

Bookmarking - sorry I've been AWOL - June and July were just so incredibly busy at work, I was organising events every day which since I was presenting on a lot of them too meant I was having to do the shopping, preparations, signs, lists etc in the evenings. They all went rteally well though and had great feedback so I'm happy :)

Saying that, I must have been exhausted as I've been ill ALL of the summer holidays - 4 1/2 weeks so far. Started with a sore throat to a cold and sinusitus and now a horrible cough for 2.5 weeks. I haven't been able to smell or taste anything for 3 weeks and am generally knackered and headachy :( I keep think it's starting to get better and then the next phase starts. Might have to brave the doctor on Monday

Saying that - I've been to Womad with friends (great even if under the weather), done a 4 night PGL activity holiday with DD1 (which she claimed the best holiday ever, despite being a pain quite a lot of the time) and just come back from 4 nights in Wales with the girls which was fab - so I've not done too badly. Think what I need to do is rest now!

Also enjoying what I managed to see of the Olympics, (a lot more than the closing ceremony!).

Maebh is still lovely and cheerful most of the time, but can be a little monkey and very stubborn. She's asked a few times recently why me and her Dad don't live together :( She is starting to ask to go to his when she's been with me for a few days now though, which I guess I should be glad about (although secretly it breaks my heart).

Carrie I've been following your holidays, they sound fab! My sister went to my parents' house in Harrogate for a week this summer, and I might do that next year. I couln't stay at home as 1) it's just me and 2) I coun't get past all the things I need to do, but a location could be good.

MrsA hope you're OK x

Badvoc the activities sound fab!

Badvoc · 18/08/2012 13:59

Hi ninja!
Hope you are ok Mrsa?

notcitrus · 19/08/2012 22:11

Hello Ninja!
Had very busy couple weeks - Olympic athletics were fab, though the boys found it too loud (dd loved all the flashing lights and all), and then sorted ourselves out to go up north. Wonderful time now that A and cousin are old enough to play together and young cousin also mostly joining in, and spent one day simply lounging around while the kids played with the paddling pool. Dd was teething horribly but seems better now. Unfortunately I've got tendonitis in my ankles and can't walk much at the moment, let alone finally run and get fit now dd is 6 months...

Best wishes to you MrsA.

CappuccinoCarrie · 20/08/2012 19:34

Today I heard of two pregnancy announcements, and a friend went in to be induced...no news yet...! Plus three friends had babies last week!

Badvoc · 20/08/2012 19:54

Blimey....how fecund your friends are!! :)
No one I know is having a baby.
I do have a 9 month old neice I can snuggle when I get the urge :)

ninja · 20/08/2012 21:54

wow - no babies here either, except same as you Badvoc a 6 month old niece!

CappuccinoCarrie · 21/08/2012 13:41

Its weird, there's a total baby boom this month. Plus there's been another flurry of announcements of Jan/Feb babies.
One of the babies born last week was a month early, but thankfully fine. Still waiting on news of the induction...
Another very good friend is due on the 24th. She's like me last year, where her eldest is starting school a few days later so she's desperate to have the baby on time!
One week today til DS2's birthday

ninja · 22/08/2012 07:49

You know those funny things that kids say - well the DDs ahve their 7 year old cousin for a sleep over. They had been saving sweets and planning a 'secret' midnight feast (big whispers etc!).

Well M was over tired so I put her to bed first and when I put her in her bed she asked me for all the things she'd been saving for her 'Goodnight Feast'! I thought that was so sweet (and easily done and dusted). She ate them, cleaned her teeth again and went to sleep happy!
