scones really pleased nursery is going better and it is still early days.

We still have in storage from our move to the US, in the end loads of crap got packed as we run out of sorting time.

Yeah she's ill but only with a cold. Was up at 5am again and only did a one hour nap so was put to bed without dinner at 6pm. Glad the party was yesterday as think today would have been too much. I gave our left over cake to next door, they didn't make it as her mother was ill so they were looking after her. They came round and played for a bit this afternoon.

IC I hope DD continues to improve

lovely pictures beth

BG sorry to hear you were ill.

My headache is still lingering but stays at bay with ibuprofen, although it's not mixing well with my asthma.

bc The job closed three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything. Guess they were not happy to wait but I did expect to hear either way so was a bit disappointed to not get it confirmed. To be honest I didn't go in prepared as think a part of me didn't really to want to think about returning to work. Hope pg is well, not long now

PenguinArmy · 05/03/2012 22:26

I realised I came across a bit moany about the party but it was really great. I was just shattered when I wrote the post.

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 05/03/2012 22:39

Hi all.

Sorry to hear about the bug IC. All sounds very normal to me!!

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 05/03/2012 22:41

xp PA. Hope you carry on geting better-take care with the asthma too.

Bearcrumble · 05/03/2012 22:48

Happy birthday to PA's DD. Grr at the inlaws. Sorry you haven't heard either way about the job. Hope you and DD feel better soon.

IC Hope your DD is back to herself soon.

Scones Good to hear things are going better at nursery. Not surprised you are feeling knackered with the packing and everything.

I don't know how tall DS is, about average though as he's roughly the same height as his little friends of the same age. I weighed him myself and he's 11.7k - which puts him on about the 10th centile. He was on that last time I weighed him. He's not super thin, and is full of energy and does eat plenty so I am not concerned. None of us locally have been called up for the 2 year check. I'm not going to bother chasing it up.

DS still has nasty nappies and had a poo accident when running around naked this morning (upstairs where we have carpet - argh). I wasn't angry - just felt a bit sorry for him as he was clearly expecting to have just done a fart and was a bit taken aback at what happened.

Mum had him all day today - took him up to town where he saw the pelicans in St James' park and the Olympic countdown clock. I had a pregnancy massage this morning, it was lovely and went to the hospital with DH at 1pm. Waited over an hour for my appointment and hadn't had lunch so got some crisps from the vending machine and of course we were called just as I opened the bag. Scan was fine, baby a good size (about 2 and a half kilos) and I have my date for my caesarian - 5th April. I'll be 38w 6d. It would have been the Friday but it's Good Friday and they don't do electives on bank hols. So just one month to go.

Have been doing lots of tidying over the past few days (bought some of those big plastic boxes with the lids that you get from hardware/pound shops for DS toys and tidied them all away with the intention of rotating the boxes) and soaked some of his old little white vests and sleepsuits in stain remover and got them all good as new (extremely satisfying) and packed my hospital bag.

Bearcrumble · 05/03/2012 22:49

God, sorry for sounding so boring.

Lovely pics, Beth.

BigBadBear · 06/03/2012 09:39

Not boring at all BC! Nice to hear what you've been up to.

Survival glad the wedding went well, but sorry you've been unwell (and you PA and IC's DD). There's still a lot of bugs about.

scones packing is a nightmare! Glad nursery is going better.

BG loved your photo on FB. My DD2 does much the same in that she'll potter quite happily for hours, occasionally bringing me randon things that she needs help with or she wants to show me. It's lovely.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 06/03/2012 14:27

Bc boring, schmoring!!
Lovely to hear your scan was good - wow, a month..!! No wonder you're nesting!

Survival wedding sounds good, shame about the overnight shenanigans. And sorry to hear you're poorly again. Abdominal migraine...?? What fresh hell is this?!

I hope you're starting to feel better too, PA - headache and asthma, bah.

Scones good news on the improved nursery settling! Good luck with the packing, too.

DD is much better today. She was still rather pale when she woke up, but no more puking, thankfully. She nibbled a bit of breakfast and brightened up in front of my eyes. I still rang the doctor, though. I basically said, "My instinct is, this is a normal tummy bug and she's over the worst of it now, but thought I'd better check with you." After hearing the symptoms, the doctor agreed and told me the things to watch out for that would warrant a visit to the surgery (temperature closing on 40 that doesn't come down with paracetamol etc., blood in vomit or stools, signs of dehydration). And DD's continued to improve, she ate a bit more at lunchtime and is back to being argumentative again, so I KNOW she's getting better..!

DH has got his first job interview today, FX. Although it's not the end of the world if he doesn't get this one, there are other possibilities too. But if he does, I can feel my own nesting instincts starting to kick in - our rented place is lovely, but I'm now getting keen for somewhere with more space where we can finally unpack all our stuff that's been languishing in boxes in my PILs attic..... I'm finding it hard not to look at the property pages in the local rag..!

Bearcrumble · 06/03/2012 15:06

I have a tummy bug now Sad. Not terrible, at first I thought it was hormonal - felt like morning sickness so I went out anyway but it was a mistake. When I got to the soft play place I just wanted to lie down and had quite bad tummy pains/nausea. My friend got me fizzy water and breadsticks but it wasn't helping so I went home - not a pleasant walk chucking up on the pavement. Rang my mum and she arrived to look after DS soon after I got back so I could go to bed. Touch wood nothing bad at the other end and the sickness isn't that bad so I hope I am over it soon.

Bearcrumble · 06/03/2012 15:10

Good luck to your DH with the interview, IC.

Survival I'm sorry your DH was so thoughtless about waking DSs. He should have driven them home to make up for it a bit!

StoneBaby · 06/03/2012 18:39

bc not long now, I hope you manage to enjoy your last few weeks of pregnancy and can rest.

IC fx with your DH job's interview

scones great news about the better settling in nursery.

survival Angry about your DH behaviour but great that you enjoy the wedding and that you manage to have some couple time with your DH.

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 06/03/2012 22:18

Oh BC that sounds awful! Hope you are feeling much better in the morning. (and your scan news and baby preparation is really exciting, not at all dull).

IC Glad DD is feeling better. I started with some of my normal symptoms (feeling like my arms were disconnected from my body, tingly lips..) and then just felt horribly sick and lots of tummy ache. Still can't eat really and slept for 3 hours in the middle of the day today, even though the boys slept through last night. Who knows.. I guess we'll find out as the week goes on as someone else will catch it if it's a bug. What news of the job interview? We teachers usually find out the same day - there have to be some perks to the job!!

Hello SB and BBB. DH has been suitably repentant!! He bought me flowers last night. I took great pleasure telling his Dad that his son had been a naughty boy!!

How are you today PA?

Bearcrumble · 07/03/2012 09:39

I'm a lot better today thanks, survival - hope your symptoms are improving.

BabyGiraffes · 07/03/2012 12:15

I had a glimpse yesterday of what life might be like if both dh and I worked full time and long hours... Sad I had to attend a training day and dh couldn't easily take time off work, so I managed to get dd2 an extra day at nursery and booked dd1 into after-school care. Morning started too early to get everyone up and going, only to find dh had a flat tyre and the foot pump broke when he tried to inflate it. He decided to walk/ carry dd2 to nursery (15 minutes walk, and she is heavy!) and then catch a train to work. He told me later she was in floods of tears at drop off (she normally bounces in without saying goodbye) because she must have thought it was a special papa day and she was going into town/to the park with him.
When I stepped out of the house to take dd1 to school I realised my own tyre with a slow leak was very low. I could feel my blood pressure rising and just about managed not to swear in front of dd1 (I have high blood pressure but GP hasn't found an underlying cause so they just monitor it). I had no choice but to drive my car anyway (probably ruining the tyre) to drop dd1 at school breakfast club before 8 and drive slowly across town to meet colleagues for a lift to the training venue an hour's drive away. Halfway through the training day the tummy bug I had on Saturday came back with a vengeance (I'd stopped it with immodium at the weekend and carried on as normal because I had to while dh was away). Got back late afternoon to drive my flattish tyred car across town again, inflate the tryre as best I could, and collect both girls around 5ish. dd2 was very bouncy and smiley and had had a lovely day. dd1 was in tears when I collected her. She has a really heavy cold and the day was just too long for her. Once home there was barely time to get the girls a sandwich and yoghurt before bed time. dd2 turned bonkers and put a handful of yoghurt into her hair (after dd1 had already swept her long hair through her food...), so I had to throw them both into the bath and then blow dry their hair as well (dd1 has a lot of lovely hair which takes at least 20 minutes to blow dry!). By that point dd1 was so exhausted she was incapable of speech, so homework went out the window. I myself was doubled up with back and stomach ache and feeling pretty rough. dh didn't get home until about half past 7 and spent a little time with dd1 who was coughing again and in tears because she was so tired. dd2 went to sleep quickly but then woke in invervals of between 20 minutes to an hour and screamed for a few seconds/ minutes without being awake properly. I went in each time to reassure her and tuck her back in. She finally settled down to sleep peacefully about midnight. I skipped dinner and rolled myself into a ball in bed with several extra blankets....
I felt a bit ShockSad how difficult the day had been. I know that people get used to this kind of day if they have to do it all the time, but I am not sure I'd stay sane if I had to do this every day (bearing in mind also we have no family near).
I slept really badly because I felt very achy and also couldn't get warm despite two extra duvets. Just hoping whatever bug I have is going to leave me alone sooner rather than later.

BabyGiraffes · 07/03/2012 12:18

Sorry, what an essay Sad And the paragraphs I put in while typing didn't show up for some reason Sad

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 07/03/2012 12:29

Sorry to hear that BG and all the others sicky ones. Hopes you get better soon.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 07/03/2012 14:07

Oh, BG, poor you, that sounds absolutely rubbish. To be fair, I think you had a lot of bad luck and sickness on top of the usual stress of getting everyone out of the house for various deadlines. No wonder you feel so wiped. And sorry to hear the bug is still causing you pain. I hope you all feel better today Sad

Survival likewise I hope you feel brighter too.
But hang on, did you say both boys slept through?!!!

And Bc, glad you've rallied a bit. Being ill on top of being pregnant is no joke.

DD continues to improve. She still hasn't fully recovered her appetite, but she's eating a bit better and had lots more energy this morning. She did a heinous nappy, but I think that was more to do with the fact that she hasn't eaten many solids in the last couple of days than anything else. Took me back to her baby days..!

BabyGiraffes · 07/03/2012 17:22

Feel better already after a good whine Grin. But my girls like to share so dd2 has my tummy bug and I now have dd1's cough Sad. Not that it stops them mind. They are currently spluttering cuscous over the table inventing silly words and dd2 has just cried with laughter and nearly fell off her chair at something her sister said to her Grin

StoneBaby · 07/03/2012 18:31

BG it just shows you that oyu have made the right decision (plus you were unlucky with the tyres - could they have been deflated by someone? I wonder as it's seems to be quite a coincidence that both cars ended up with flat tyres Hmm) (can you guess I work with the Polcie? Grin)

Boo to all the sick mums and toddlers. Hope you all get well soon.

More night terror here but I keep on smiling and going to comfort him (I also wonder if the emergency dummy may be causing more problems?)

BabyGiraffes · 07/03/2012 18:36

SB I have wondered! I have the second flat tyre in about a month...Angry

PenguinArmy · 07/03/2012 20:14

BG as IC said, most of those problems weren't related specifically to the two of you working for the day. Hope you recover soon

BC that sounds like it was horrendous. Hope you are getting suitable TLC

Apart from the last hour of DD being up, I had a good day. Did playgroup, some shopping, playdough (two quid from wilko's) playing with DD, splashing and scootering for an hour, popped next door for a bit, made a meal (home made burgers, wedges with non home made broccoli, garlic and mushrooms). Stuffed 17!! nappies (how did we get through that in one day), folded up washing and put a load on. DD only napped for an hour but I manged to get DS down i.e. not attached to me twice today. The last fraught hour (which wasn't too bad, we were just both tired) was to stop me becoming smug mum of the day. Laid in bed with DS now waiting until he is sound enough for me to investigate the book that DH has brought me. I let him the sheet that DS managed to poo on over lunch. Grin

PenguinArmy · 07/03/2012 20:15

ps headache much better, it switched to a paracetamol headache yesterday but I think it has nearly gone. Normally takes two days for it to clear once it becomes a paracetamol one.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 07/03/2012 21:17

PA you stuffed 17 mushrooms while caring for a baby and toddler?

Glad your headache seems to be easing up.

DD had a relapse this afternoon. She was very clingy post-nap and it took ages plus a bit of gentle coaxing for her to eat anything at supper time. Then just after I'd bathed her and got her into her night things, the whole day's food came back up again.

She cheered up again after that. The doctor told me most viral tummy bugs last 5-7 days (up to two weeks if you're unlucky) so we're still within that time frame. Poor old DD. Her pot belly has all but disappeared now.

But GOOD NEWS DH got the job!!! He was the only PGCE student interviewed, the others were all experienced teachers, but they gave it to him. He's well chuffed, as am I!

PenguinArmy · 07/03/2012 21:21

mushrooms? Confused as think it reads right. No, it was nappies.

That's fantastic news IC Wish I could get a job on first go. Seriously though, that must be a massive relief for you and will help the nesting to go swimmingly.
I guess with DD it's predictable you'll take a step back once she upped her food again. Hope tomorrow is better

I just made myself a cup of tea but used a regular tea bag instead of a de-caf one

InmaculadaConcepcion · 07/03/2012 21:38

Ha ha ha ha!!! Sorry PA at getting the wrong end of the stick.

17 nappies is still pretty impressive Grin
