How was the party PA?

BigBadBear · 04/03/2012 19:43

It was great BG, though it was just a drinks thing at a friend's house for her DH's 40th. But DH and I managed to go for dinner beforehand, and ended up staying until gone 2am (so my concerns that I might turn into a pumpkin at midnight were unfounded). And this morning we had a lie in with the papers.

The good news is that I think I have had my last heavy work week, and from here on it should be a bit easier (unless I take on another massive project, which I have promised DH I won't for at least six weeks). But I am literally falling apart with exhaustion and bit of me keep breaking as a result (on Friday I cricked my neck so severely that I literally couldn't bear the weight of my head, which sounds ridiculous). My op is in two weeks, and I'm actually looking forward to it as an opportunity to catch up on some sleep Hmm

BG and mous your tales of your DD2s make me laugh. Mine is much the same :o

PA how was the birthday party?

SB and IC how are your LOs?

survival wedding tales please?!

It was good thanks.

The cake was more like a brownie but still good, if a bit rich. The food seemed just right, made garlic bread as well. Was all just nearly eaten. Was a few comments about choice of sandwiches (from ILs) who forgot it was a childrens party. Saying that, when I went to get one they were all gone. (were jam and peanut - separate not US style). Next door didn't turn up so numbers were just right, but couldn't get rid of the ILs at one point, they took the hint once we put DD to bed regardless. My family did all the clearing up for us.

BBB op? Hope you rest yourself in the meantime.

PenguinArmy · 04/03/2012 20:22

I've had to go bed for certain points over the past few days. Got a severe sudden headache on Friday that I had to get DH to come home for. Had less intense returns the past two days as well. Not sure what's going on there.

BabyGiraffes · 04/03/2012 22:08

PA migraine? Sad

StoneBaby · 05/03/2012 07:00

happy birthday to PA DD

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 05/03/2012 07:05

Happy birthday PA's DD!

BabyGiraffes · 05/03/2012 10:40

Dd2 has just completed her Monday morning routine inventory of dd2's roomGrin. I let her investigate because it gives me an hour to snoop on MN tidy up. Now I have to find a way to encourage her to put all books, games, puzzles etc back in the right boxes...
Happy birthday PA's dd Grin

BabyGiraffes · 05/03/2012 10:41

'dd1's room' Blush her own is apparently nowhere near as interesting.

BigBadBear · 05/03/2012 11:45

PA Happy Birthday to your DD. Sounds like you held a good party.

My op isn't anything serious, just an ovarian cyst that needs taking out before it gets too big to remove using keyhole surgery.

BG we have a reverse situation to yours in that DD1 finds DD2's room far more interesting than hers :o

BBB We have both... Wink dd1 likes to play in little sister's room, sitting at a toddler table to draw with crayons, while dd2 is in her big sister's room trying to read ORT books to herself Grin

IC How is your dd this morning?

BabyGiraffes · 05/03/2012 12:55

I'm hugely impressed today by dd2's ability to entertain herself for hours at a time. She's spent all morning playing and will occasionally find me to put an armband on me or offer me some sort of treasure she's found (she gave me a small piece of paper earlier with the request to 'hide it please' - it was scrap but obviously very important to her for some reason Grin) but other than that she's very happy to potter. dd1 won't be best pleased to see the state of her room this afternoon though Wink

PenguinArmy · 05/03/2012 12:55

It possibly needed a whole tub of coco powder Grin

PenguinArmy · 05/03/2012 12:59

DD nearly didn't make playgroup today as she falling asleep in her buggy before we left. However she is not ill enough to do naps so went for a short time. Also brought her some new shoes (is in between 3.5 and 4), picked up some clothes I had ordered, brought milk and bread. Not too shabby I feel.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 05/03/2012 14:04

Happy Birthday to PA's DD!
Hope you're okay, PA? Those headaches don't sound like much fun (if a headache can ever be described as fun)

DD's having her ups and downs with this bug. She ate some dried fruit and fromage frais for supper, but was was fidgety and wakeful overnight. I found this morning that she had been sick in her cot at some point in the night (I didn't notice earlier, even though I had been in a couple of times to resettle her... Blush) Luckily not TOO copious. DD seemed a bit pale and wanted lots of cuddles this morning, but did manage to eat a few bits of fruit and some breakfast cereal....
...which she threw up again about an hour later, all over both of us, hoorah. All she wanted to do after that was cuddle up to me. At one point when I managed to put her down so I could sort a few things out, I returned to her room to find she had fallen asleep in Muslim praying position while looking at one of her books. She's NEVER done anything like that before! Still, at least her temperature's remained down.
Anyway, she rallied around lunchtime and ate some apple rice-cakes, then demanded some toast with fruit spread. I'm hoping it all stays down this time... She's currently supposed to be having another nap, although I can hear her talking. Ulp. Bit worried about what I might find up there....

BabyGiraffes · 05/03/2012 14:27

Not wanting to spook you IC but if your dd does not get better by tomorrow I would see the GP just in case this illness is related to her unusual nappy contents a few days ago and she has some sort of blockage somewhere...

InmaculadaConcepcion · 05/03/2012 15:01

Not spooked, BG - I've already decided if she's not looking better by tomorrow morning I will indeed take her to the doctor.

Her unusual nappy contents was well over a week ago and she's filled her nappy in the usual way since, so I'd be surprised if that was it. The periodic loss of appetite/temperature ups and downs/tiredness on top of the upchucks makes me suspect it's a gastro of some sort. Having said that, I'm not an expert, so if she doesn't continue to improve through today and tonight, I'll get her looked at.

BabyGiraffes · 05/03/2012 16:38

Ah sorry IC got the timeline wrong - thought it was more recent than thatSmile. I am sure she is fine. There are loads of things going round - I has something myself at the weekend which put paid to all the lovely plans I had for me and the girlsSad

InmaculadaConcepcion · 05/03/2012 20:04

Aw, bad luck BG. Sad

I'm hoping I don't catch whatever it is. Fevery tummy upsets are NOT a good thing to have in my current condition.

Well, DD gradually brightened up again as the afternoon wore on. She hasn't totally got her colour back, but she definitely had more energy and got chattier again. She ate a single piece of plain pasta at supper, but that's okay. I've noticed she's been feeling worse after eating, so starving the bug out is probably a good policy. She's been taking fluids okay and what she ate at lunchtime stayed down, so FX.
We had an awful nappy this afternoon, though. Not surprisingly..!!

How is everyone else?

StoneBaby · 05/03/2012 21:06

Oh IC your poor DD

DS is teething a lot (molars) and if you was able to will put hus full hand in his mouth. That and the drooling... Is there a growth spur at 2 years?

DS shoes size is between 5 and 6. A friend has a DS who's 13 months and already on 6&1/2 Shock

His vocabulary has also increased over the last few weeks, no sentences yet but a good mix of French and English words.

Good night all

BabyGiraffes · 05/03/2012 21:15

Dd1 had her 2 year check today and seemed very proud that she has in fact grown and is now 85cm. Still a little chubby at 13kg but the health visitor was not concerned.

IC hope your dd is better in the morning and does not share her bug with youSmile

BabyGiraffes · 05/03/2012 21:16

Sorry should have read dd2 of course. Have to stop posting from phone!

StoneBaby · 05/03/2012 21:20

BG your DD2 is similar to my DS for height and weight. Glad your HV is not worried (it shows mine is useless Grin)

SconesForTea · 05/03/2012 22:19

Happy birthday to PA's DD. Did I read it right that she's not well? Sad Glad the party went well. Your ILs sound like mine, not taking any hint to go. We have been up, bathed DD1 and put her to bed, come back down and they're still sitting there. You can stand in the middle of the room holding their coats and they take no notice. I have gone to bed myself on many occasions leaving them to it (with poor DH).

How is DD IC? I'm sure it's just a bug but it's still worrying. When DD1 was sick every morning for a week I was at the Dr twice and I'm sure they thought I was a hysterical first time mother. Maybe I was. I hope she's better tomorrow. How are you feeling yourself?

DD1's third nursery session today went better, thank goodness. The tears dried up after 10 mins apparently and she had to squeeze some out when I picked her up, but seemed fine.

We are slowly packing everything in sight. It's difficult! Once you're past the easy stuff like books and CDs, even mugs and plates, you're left with loads of little odds and soda everywhere or I am anyway. I fully expect they will be chucked into a box or ten, in a panic, on Thursday evening.

I'm properly shattered. Night all.
