Thought I'd steal the honours of setting up a new thread

I'm off on Thursday to get Evie weighed, haven't had it done since 26th Jan. I tried to go once a month, and then around the 6th of the month so that I can write down the correct weight in her baby record book

YF- sorry you have had such a bad time recently, and sorry to hear about your Granddad.

God, i haven't had Joey officially weighed by the HV since he was 4 weeks old! He's 21 weeks old today. Perhaps i should take him...

My shoulder is still bad, have to go back to the GP tomorrow to see what else can be done. I should be going back to work in 2 weeks , but thankfully, DP and i have decided i will extend my mat leave to the end of June, which is lovely.

Other than that, Joey is still growing well, eating well, and for the most part, sleeping well (bar last night again, although i think he's going through another growth spurt!). He's currently on 2 pureed meals a day, and being breastfed for the rest. Good to hear everyone else is ok, and so sorry to hear your news Yokefleet. Big Hug, NM x

mawbroon, ruby has eczema (sorry if it's spelt wrong!) and her skin is very red and itchy. I've tried loads of different things but the only thing i've found that really works is called Aveeno. You can get the cream and also the bath additive as bathing in plain water is very drying. You can get both on prescription, alternatively another wonder for the bath is to get an old pop sock/stocking and put porridge oats inside and tie it up. Pop it in the bath and it gives a lovely milky bath. Very cheap and works a treat. It's something to do with the oatmeal (which is the main ingrediant in Aveeno cream) it's really good for their skin. Our only problem is ruby's sister isn't too keen on having a bath with her now

JustBonnie · 20/02/2006 16:00

Yokefleet, i've just read your post and am so sorry about the horrible time you've had. Really hope things pick up for you soonx

mawbroon · 20/02/2006 16:39

That's a good tip about the oatmeal Bonnie. Now, being a good Scottish lassie I have both oatmeal and porridge oats in the cupboard just now! Wonder which would be best to use. DH will think that I have lost my marbles!!

I am going to try things one at a time though so that I can say if it is definitely the change of washing liquid, or the EBM or whatever that has helped.

Aveeno was also on my "must try" list. My SIL used it on my DN who had a pretty horrid time with her skin.

Here - just struggling with time to post. Baby started baby rice 2-3 times a day -VERY hungry and wines all evening with either wind or wanting food - she is more difficult now than at any time before - think its the starting solid stage !! Going back to work 9eek!) soon - 3 days - split childcare between granny and a nursery. It is hell leaving house in morning with 2 - one just started school. Love smiles and having baby again though - big brother adores her ! Feeling broody but trying to be sensible !!!!!!!!!

modsaluk · 21/02/2006 14:03

New to this thread, was wondering if anyone had advise re early waking baby (4 1/2 months), who only naps for half an hour at a time during the day, and still wakes for a feed during the night. I am going back to work in two weeks only two and a half days a week, but if DS is still waking at 5am it will send me to an early grave im sure.

modsaluk · 21/02/2006 14:05

Also can i ask where to post the pictures and how to view them?

Elf1981 · 21/02/2006 20:34

phew, it's quiet here at the moment!
modsaluk - welcome! Youd need to look in member profiles to post your pictures.

Elf - that is so sweet. Johnny hasn't fallen asleep on me for a long time now, but he does nod off in the sling when we are out and about. He goes very quiet and then his head starts to wobble a bit as he drops off and then he rests it against my chest. I love the contact that we have with each other when he is in the sling . I haven't used the pram once since he was around 7 weeks.

mummygow · 22/02/2006 15:52

Elf she looks so cosy there. Thats where Cameron used to go to sleep all the time too though like you MB he hasnt fallen asleep on me for a long time.

How are you all doing - it has been very quiet om here for a while, either everyone is so run off their feet or their babes are that great now that no advice needed just now - do hope it's the latter.

Anyway hope all are doing great!!!

JustBonnie · 22/02/2006 20:17

Elf, that picture is really lovely and great to get a glimpse of you as well!! Ruby's improving at nights now, at last. I've put her on Aptamil extra and that seems to have really helped. We're off to stay with bil and sil tomorrow for a long weekend. We're all really looking forward to the break but not the 4 hour journey with Ruby and a 2 year old. We're preparing ourselves for frequent stops!

Ruby is getting a great personality now and her sister is taking much more of an interest in her which is really nice. I've got a little glimpse of what it will be like when they're playing together and I can't wait. I'm really looking forward to the next stages with Ruby ie crawling, walking etc but am really trying not to rush things as I did with dd1 as they are little for such a short time.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Looking forward to reading loads of posts when I get back on Monday.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

mummygow · 22/02/2006 20:19

JB hope you have a fab time and get loads of help during your weekend!!

ButtonMoon · 22/02/2006 20:41

Funny about taking them to be weighed. DS is starting to head back towards the centile at birth after a record 1lb a week for 11 weeks so I am not going for a couple of weeks otherwise I'll be getting the weaning pressure from the HV!! I did DD at 15 weeks but I can't really be bothered at the mo for DS, it's too easy just taking my boob!! Can't believe that he is 20 weeks tm...where does the time go. They are fab though aren't they..the smiles and coos just make it all worthwhile.

Elf1981 · 22/02/2006 21:17

BM - avoiding being thick but was your ds born on the 6th? I've probably asked before, but forgotten, or just not realised that he was born the same day as my DD!

Hi all, blimey it's difficult getting time to come on and catch up these days.

lol at all your smiley babies first thing in the morning. Ds is just the same, greets us with a big cheeky grin as if to say 'it's about time you woke up you lazy lump hehe". He's also trying to roll over, he so close but just can't make it all the way. Bless him he tries so hard too

Not sleeping through yet but only wakes once for a feed at 3.30am. Don't mind really cos if he doesn't feed i'll only get woken up by exploding boobs anyway .

Is anyone elses hair falling out too? I know its normal and it's just the hair that didn't fall out during pregnancy but blimey! I'm finding hair everywhere and it's a nightmare trying to keep it off ds and out of his mouth.

Been to baby massage and baby yoga this week. Ds really enjoyed himself and (smug mummy moment) was the best behaved there.

Considering 3years ago I thought I'd never want children, I have to say being a mummy is the best thing in the whole world and my only regret is that we weren't ready sooner.

oops sorry

Elf1981 · 23/02/2006 22:15

Piggiesmum - oh, with you on the hair falling out bit. I swear I'm going to go bald!!

OP posts:
mummygow · 24/02/2006 10:49

mine is coming out in clumps - forgot that this happens. Cameron has got to be a lazy sod, I keep rolling him about the floor and rolling round it myself like a big idiot but no - just waves his arms and legs about and giggles.

What does your babies like doing just now - we play uuuuuuuuup, dooowwwwn (pulling him up to sit and lie back down) and 1,2,3 (pulling him up to standing) he loves these.

Still detest lying on stomache.

How are your lo's at holding toys and being interested in them, Cameron so unphazed by this.

He just loves being naked and me kissing his tummy and kneck!!

IS THIS WHY MEN ARE LIKE THEY ARE - IS IT JUST HOW THEY ARE BORN (lazy, mum you just play with those toys and I'll watch, and mummy shower me with love and kisses and I'll just lie back and soak it all up)

mawbroon · 24/02/2006 13:08

My hair must be falling out too but I can't say that I have noticed it. My hair is normally pretty thin so every morning, it is quite greasy and usually standing on end (lovely sight first thing!) but towards the end of my pregnancy, my hair was exactly the same in the morning as it was when I went to bed!! Sadly, it is now reverting back to the "bed head" look as the extra disappears. Hey, maybe that's why Johnny laughs so much at me in the morning!

Re your question about toys Mummygow. Johnny has one of those play arch things that clips on the pram/carseat/bouncy chair etc. He used to play with it non stop, but is now more interested in grabbing the toys and putting them in his mouth.
I find that he is more fascinated by everday items than with his toys. He spends a lot of time just sitting in his bouncy seat watching me (and also the washing machine) in the kitchen. He loves my watch and will giggle at it when he sees it (handy at nappy chaning time to keep him amused). Johnny and his Daddy were sitting watching me using he sewing machine the other day and Johnny was laughing like a madman every time I started to sew. His Daddy says that he was laughing because machines are soooo exciting. I reckon he was laughing at my lack of needlework skills!!

mummygow · 24/02/2006 13:17

lol mb

when he is under his playgym he goes mad and hits the toy and grabs them and pulls them off but when I hold something in front of him he just stares like "so what" also seems to be losing that staring into my eyes look because everything else in the room seems to be so interesting (I want him to stare at me adoringly forever)

The only things that go in his mouth are fists, bib, bottle and spoon - I mean how can he put anything else in if he wont even take it off me!!

I only had a baby 3 and a half years ago but please tell me what to do again - I feel that I did so much more with Jess when she was a baby, all I seem to do with Cameron is sit him on my knee telling him I love him and he's handsome or roll on floor kissing him.

mummygow · 24/02/2006 14:27

hooray - maybe stop panicking now my usborne parents guide for entertaining and educating babies and toddlers just came in post - had one with Jess but gave it to my friend - so book of usefull ideas now at my fingertips!!

ButtonMoon · 24/02/2006 20:05
