Well after yesterday of LO being awake all day apart from a couple of naps he's been asleep for about a whole hour today think this will cause problems tonight Sad.

AnAirOfHope · 25/01/2012 17:08

Floor 8 potty 2

I'm going potty now.

Hope has been awake alot today with feeding and crying and just being awake, i'm so hoping she will sleep tonight.

I need choclate and coffee Sad

plutocrap · 25/01/2012 17:30

hawthers, we thoiught abiut the scales, too. Sounds sensible - could you also leaveit longer between MW/hv weighings?

I hope Hope and the Figroll do sleep!

OiMissus · 25/01/2012 17:50

When I filled in the form to register Alistair with the doctors, there was a bit to tick for organ donation, - so Alistair is a donor. :)
But isn't it ridiculous that I had to specifically register him with the doctors? I thought that as I was registered, and went through the whole pregnancy/ midwife/green book/purple bit/red book through them, it would automatically happen. Nope, they didn't know he existed...
Did 3 hours at work today. Everyone says that Alistair looks 3 mths old - and not 6 weeks, and they all fell in love with him - as is entirely natural! Grin
Good luck with potty training Air!
Haddocks for silly HVs and MWs.
DH is home - pompoms!
And the cleaner has been and done my ironing and washing up. Bloody, big, massive HURRAH with extra pompoms.

msbuggywinkle · 25/01/2012 18:03

plu ring 0300123 2323 takes 2 minutes.

oi it has always struck me as a bit mad too...surely there should be an easy way of streamlining it so babies get registered at their mother's surgery.

hawthers · 25/01/2012 18:37

Ds just back from nursery shouting no likey mummy - just brilliant

Feel like I'm totally failing at everything

LittleMissFlustered · 25/01/2012 18:48

I registered the older two through the online register years ago, did octopus boy when registering at doctors. When they get old enough to understand better I will talk to them about it and let them make their own decisions:)

NorthernChinchilla · 25/01/2012 19:21

I'm on the register, as is OH, but I'd never thought about DS, thanks.

We're on the other bit of the cycle figgy and air- LO was awake all of yesterday, today he's kindly had lots of naps. Sigh.... I know I'd like him to be in a little routine naturally, just, y'know, a morning and afternoon nap sort of thing, not Gina Ford. I think we need to accept that it's not going to happen yet given they're so little if ever.

They get automatically registered here Oi, got the letter just today, so it can be done.

Right, dinner then footie- tonight I get to eat two handed as LO is napping. I'll see whether this evening nap prevents histronics tonight... Wish me luck!

NorthernChinchilla · 25/01/2012 19:22

And hawthers that must sound awful- even though you know it's not true, and he doesn't mean it, it must really hurt.

You're not failing at all, and he does likey mummy really.

DarcieandSkysmum · 25/01/2012 19:42

Sky had a poo explosion tonight - it was everywhere! up her back down her legs but she so needed it - happy mummy Grin

Had a consultation with Forever Wedding Rings tonight - DP & I managed to pick matching rings! haven't gone ahead yet - needs thinking about first.

HoneyLovesChristmasCake · 25/01/2012 20:35

Evening all :)

Took DS to the GP's yesterday & as they had a student see us b4 the Dr it took an hour to be told that yes, he does indeed have a snotty nose & no there's nothing else we can do. My lovely Dr called it post-viral mucus to make me feel less silly perhaps Hmm DP wasn't too happy as he'd taken the day off to do his taxes but I'm glad I took him in as they checked his chest & heart & generally reassured me.

In other news, both DP & I have much higher tax bills than expected so we are well & truly skint for the foreseeable future; must be the hormones but it's not stressing me out...weird Hmm Does motherhood make you more chilled? About non-DC related stuff obviously Grin

hawthers you're not failing & I'm sure we'll all hear something like that from our LO's at some stage...not too soon though I hope >_<

Had an aha moment this week when I accepted that if I want Rocco to nap for longer than 10mins during the day I have to lie him on his front in spite of all advice to the contrary...don't suppose it matters much since I check on him every 5mins Blush

sevenswansaswimming · 25/01/2012 21:18

darcies glad sky is better now.

air you might like to know that although he was good with wees in the potty (though I think he was older than air) DS pooed in his pants almost every day for 4 months after we started potty training. You will get there.

mopsy you've done a bloody brilliant job. I was exactly like you are, I stopped at six weeks as with feeding for an hour every three hours and expressing I just didn't have any time at all for DS. FWiW when Eva was tiny and everyone here was still pregnant I briefly went to the November post-natal thread, they were almost all exclusively FFing.

Eva had her first jabs today, other than half waking for feeds she's been asleep since. I think I'm in for a bad night. Tomorrows plan is to buy some fish and an outfit to wear when we go out Saturday night, then maybe take Eva to be weighed in the afternoon.

aethelfleda · 25/01/2012 21:46

(((((hug))))) for you hawthers

I too did not obey when told to express every feed as, like you, I just couldn't work out how to find time to do it. I decided frequent boob offering was more praxtical and my nice local BF counsellor recommended trying breast compression (gentle strategis squeeze to increase letdown) plus nursing on empty boobs so they get higher fat intake. I'll link to the videos she pointed to: they were v helpful and gave me something positive to do. I bet next time LO is weighed it's all come on more as BF babies gain in fits and starts anyway!
Good idea w the scales too: it all feels so unscientific when they obsess about grams and then use diff machines...

aethelfleda · 25/01/2012 21:49

Dr Jack Newman breast Compression web info

DarcieandSkysmum · 25/01/2012 21:56

Honey Sky sleeps on her front at night and she's fine. Darcie slept on her front as a baby and still does Smile

plutocrap · 25/01/2012 22:03

hawthers, was it "don't like mummy" or "don't like nursery, Mummy?" Even if it's the first, I'm sure it's likely to become more common as the years go by, as they learn how to use words to hurt, without meaning them (very unkind, but then, children seem to be little buggers!).

That poo of Sky's sounds great! Grin I often wish DD could just get on with hers: she gets so distressed when she's trying to make one come! Meanwhile, DS is trying to hold his in and failing sometimes - rather disgusting TMI alert - poking his finger at his bottom, like a filthy version of the little Dutch boy and the dike (told you it was disgusting, and the Dutch boy was a d----d sight more successful too!)

Where is the happy medium 'twixt these extremes?

So sorry about the morbid scatological humour: what else is there to laugh at, sometimes?!

aethelfleda · 25/01/2012 22:09

MUuuust Go tooo beddddd... See you on the nightshift, ladies!

OiMissus · 25/01/2012 22:18

"What is there to laugh at?" how about seven turning into a pescey Lady Gaga: "Tomorrows plan is to find some fish and an outfit to wear when we go out"
(sorry!)
Talking about pescey things (as in pescetarian//fishy -spelt incorrectly-things), Ali and I have our first swimming lesson tomorrow. Grin
Oh, and we are now both waiting for ultrasound appts, I found a little lump in his testicle -probably something innocent from his op but I want it checked out, and I still haven't heard from the hospital after my visit last week.
Fingers crossed for a good night's sleep everyone. Otherwise lmf, aethel and mopsy, we'll catch up later! Smile
(no! Will sleep!!!!!!!!!)

hawthers · 25/01/2012 22:54

As ever aethelfleda ta for kind words and helpful info. Operation thunder thighs (for farley) is go. I too have been offering boob since mw left so he had been constantly feeding since about 2pm. Will see how it pans out. Will also check out the video tom. Am also going to get hold of an actual bf advisor to come around in person. For the record I don't think there is anything wrong with ff, I just have massive residual issues from ds1 with bf and weight gain.

ply unfortunately it was def no likey mummy. Aiming to grow a v thick skin over night. I know he doesn't mean it but I still feel like shit.

LittleMissFlustered · 25/01/2012 23:28

Evening

Think my headache is weather related, pressure's dropped:/

Mmmmcheese · 25/01/2012 23:34

hawthers DS just woke up crying and went into a massive tantrum and said hug daddy hug daddy and didn't want to hug mummy :(

Having been so worried about DD being asleep all the time she was awake all morning :) but been asleep ever since other than for feeds! I am hoping this means she is going to be a fantastic feeder one day.

Meant to say yesterday thank you for whoever posted that link to the website about attachment, think it was air. Really interesting and I agree with it too. I'm definitely an attachment parent!

mopsytop · 26/01/2012 00:39

hi everyone, thanks so much for the support about bf/ff, it really helps with my guilt issues. The night shift has commenced and I am already exhausted. Think it'll be a long one :(

mopsytop · 26/01/2012 01:19

Guess everyone is asleep!!! Minimopsy is up to her usual falling-asleep-on-the-boob/bottle antics.

mopsytop · 26/01/2012 02:47

Agh! After half an hr of trying to bf, starting giving her a bottle at 1am. It is now 2:45 and she still hasn't finished it. She drinks a bit and falls asleep. I try winding her (sometimes successfully, sometimes not), then put her down. Within a minute she wakes up crying and the process is repeated. How do I get her to just drink the f-ing bottle? Aaarrrgghh!!

OiMissus · 26/01/2012 03:02

Morning mopsy. hope minimopsy is trying harder. ((hugs))
LO went down at 10, just woke for feed at 02:46, and just for 12 mins.
Z z z z z...
