Oh Lordy, talk about our LOs being sick, have Made you all queasy with my softness?
Haha! But I know you all feel exactly the same about your LOs. (our babies are lucky to have such devoted mums)

mopsytop · 25/01/2012 03:54

Hi all. Well minimopsy slept for over two hours after sick incident and seems fine and is now up to her usual antics, falling asleep on my boob!

T.I.R.E.D. !!!

plu, thanks for words of support re: ff. If only my irrational side wd listen to my rational side. I too was ff and am healthy and never had any problems, same for two of my siblings. In fact, half of us were bf and half ff and there is no way you could tell who was which as no discernible differences between us. Yet I still feel guilty that minimopsy is mainly on formula. Well, I bf for half an hr at every feed I give her (but husband does one or two a day) and she gets at least 120ml ebm a day. But I can't keep it up. It takes too much time. I said I'd persevere for six weeks, thinking I would see some improvement and that we'd have more success at bf but unfortunately that hasn't happened :( think am going to have to more or less stop next week at six weeks :( will try to keep up a morning and evening bf but she always needs a bottle top up. But just for the emotional closeness more than anything. My supply mighn't keep up but can only try. Certainly can't keep up the bf/top up w bottle/express routine and have any sort of life so the decision is sort of being made for me, which will help with the guilt. I was sure if we kept trying things wd improve. Everyone says they will and I've worked so hard. But it isn't true. It doesn't work for everyone even if you try your best. At least we live in an era of clean water and formula-in an earlier era I wd just have had a very hungry baby who might not have survived!

mopsytop · 25/01/2012 03:59

P.s.Oi, I am as besotted as you. Am a complete fool over minimopsy! Spent most of my time yest when not feeding taking pics of her on my phone andcsending them to my sister!!!

aethelfleda · 25/01/2012 04:28

Haven't got birds singing this end, just DH farting in an attempt at germ warfare.

DS has decided tonight he's bored of the two course meal approach and prefers tapas. Als nipple cheeing seems to be in vogue :(

mopsytop · 25/01/2012 04:35

Hi aethel, no birds here either. Just a sleepybaby who is taking ages to feed!

Question: earlier when I put her soother in, that's when she started coughing, choking and sicking up. I noticed that happen once before. Could the soother cause a gag reflex or something?

LittleMissFlustered · 25/01/2012 05:05

Head is thumping and one of the older two has spirited my bottle of water away so I can't take painkillers yet >_

mopsytop · 25/01/2012 05:16

Oh dear lmf, you poor thing. Nothing worse than a pounding head and no means of relieving the pain.

LittleMissFlustered · 25/01/2012 05:30

I made a dash for my other son's room and recaptured my drink. Ibuprofen ahoy:)

mopsytop · 25/01/2012 05:32

Nice one :) my husband just came downstairs to get some painkillers and scared the bejeezus out of me!!

LittleMissFlustered · 25/01/2012 05:32

Soother thing, if the teat on it is long enough to interfere with the back of her mouth it could certainly cause gagging. Sometimes though they just don't like then and use all the weaponry in their arsenal to defeat the invader >_

LittleMissFlustered · 25/01/2012 05:34

Must be a day for feeling pants. I'm sat in bed wondering dawn has a pause button as I am exhausted and not at all ready to start gearing up for the school battles:/

mopsytop · 25/01/2012 05:35

Hmmm not a v long teat. Maybe if she is already sicky it just aggravates things. Only use a soother now and again at night as s'times if she is grizzling it calms her down to sleep. Usually it's ok.

mopsytop · 25/01/2012 05:53

Ugh this bf/top up/express session will have taken almost three hours by the time I'm done. Ridiculous. She is such a slow feeder anyway, even on the bottle, which doesn't help! Longing for my pillow ...

mopsytop · 25/01/2012 06:05

Oh dear, she just projectile posseted and it all landed back on her face. The poor little thing! Not too much this time thank goodness and I just managed to get her to do a fine big burp so I hope that's it for the moment!

Figgygal · 25/01/2012 06:17

Morning all

I'm going to start bringing bedtime forward as so far LO has been put down between 10 and 11 depending on when he can wait for his last feed and the last 3 nights he's slept until 5ish in fact this morning I've had to get him up. Obviously Not knocking it DH just gave him his bottle and is now off to watch the England test.

On the weight loss I put on 3 stone and have lost over 2, want to lose another 1 and am recommencingg zumba start of February at 6 weeks, hopefully my pelvic floor will have recovered enough by then to support my leaping about.

Mopsy I think you've done fab and am still in same boat I'm also thinking of dropping the day feeds and expressing. I've given up on my expensive pump and just hand express though still nit even able to get an ounce out with either. He's now on 150ml top ups of formula though I try to put him on me at every feed sometimes he will indulge for an hour sometimes only a few minutes (like this morning hence why DH did the ff). Think the more he rejects the breast the worse it's making the supply issue so the decision might get made for me anyway which may be easier.

BeeMyBaby · 25/01/2012 06:43

lots of night time posting!

DH went off to DD1's room for the second morning in a row to finish his sleep as he can't stand the noise for DD2's 6am extra noisy/slurpy feed. So another H who doesn't seem to understand that whats worse than listening to a feed is actually having to stay up to give a feed.

honey DD2 has a really blocked nose since she was about a week old and had a cough for a couple of weeks, and I took her to the dr who just checked her chest sounds were clear - still don't regret taking her as better safe than sorry.

missree sounds like Freya is doing really well! DD2 has only been managing lifting her head during tummy time since she was about 6 weeks so it sounds like she is very strong. Have you started to do tummy time already?

DarcieandSkysmum · 25/01/2012 07:25

Just a quick one: The change in milk has def helped Sky. She went 8pm to 2am, 2am to 5am 5am to now. Winded well and not screamed in pain at all Grin so my intuition so far is right Smile

DarcieandSkysmum · 25/01/2012 07:44

Just heard mumsnet cursed on BBC breakfast re olympics & breastfeeding!

aethelfleda · 25/01/2012 07:46

Aarg, it's 7.40 and ds has only just started feeding due to an extra night feed delaying wakeup. School run timing going to be interesting...

mopsy you've done brilliantly with expressing, so make your plan an enjoy your increased freedom!! Seriously, I am in awe of how well you've done, but you need a life too, and a few mins to relax and enjoy minimopsy...

OiMissus · 25/01/2012 08:29

Absolutely agree with aethel: mopsy and figgy you have to get your lives back. You've sacrificed enough.
darcies glad your instincts were right and that sky is doing better.
We're going into work today - I took him in when he was about a week old, so I wonder what they'll make of my little giant now. I suppose I'd better get up...

mopsytop · 25/01/2012 08:39

Thanks all! Poor husband in bed with splitting headache. Didn't get too much sleep last night but wd rather be tired than migrainey. Hope he is better soon as it is horrid when your head is so bad you have to stay in bed. On that note, LMF hope the ibuprofen works and head is better. aethel hope you manage the school rub ok. Oi hope you enjoy the Alistairvadoratiob at work! Figgy like me, if the decision ismaking itself, the guilt is a bit less, isn't it?

msbuggywinkle · 25/01/2012 08:39

Morning! We have Miri's six week check today, DDs are not enthusiastic so getting them out of the house is going to be interesting. I'm not looking forward to justifying charting for contraception, HCPs seem to think it is nonsense but it has worked for me for seven years so far! Anyway, DP is having the snip (he is terrified, but considers it right that he gets sterilised as I did the giving birth!) as soon as possible.

Sounds like lots of you had a very disturbed night...if I could send you some of Miri's sleeping ability I would!

darcies great that Sky is more comfortable!

mopsy joining in in thinking you are amazing, I remember how it felt when I was doing it with DD1. Don't feel like you are failing, you'll look back on it and wonder how you managed to do it for so long! Keeping going for six weeks with the feed-top up-express routine is something to be proud of.

mopsytop · 25/01/2012 08:40

Gah bloody autocorrect! Alistair adoration I meant!!!!

Figgygal · 25/01/2012 08:47

Oh bloody hell I think my periods have started either that or the lochia is back. I'm trying to bf so thought that would hold them off. LO is 5 wks old tomorrow and had tummy pains when did the night feed so thinking it is the dreaded monthly visitor gah!!!

AnAirOfHope · 25/01/2012 09:14

Arrrrrr

Aaron has pushed the potty training issues again. He spotted the new potty and so we have started today and so far we had one wee and one poo on the floor and one poo in the potty.

Hope was cluster feeding from 4pm yeastewrday till 10pm and was up two times last night. Aaron got up at 7am.

I'm tired, i need to watch Aaron like a hawk and i have to do the washing and clean the kitchen before the FSW comes round at 3pm!

Could i call her and tell her not to come? But what reason could i give?

off to get another coffee Sad
