kitty are you looking at "Emile et Rose" outfits?! (evol spend fairy says "go on, go on, do it!") I bought an adorable outfit in the last day of the sale, £57 reduced to £39. Still quite ridiculous. But totally unavoidable. A wedding completely justifies this spending. Tis as important as your outfit. You will want to look fab to say "look, see how I've lost my baby weight", but no one will look at you I'm afraid, they'll be too busy cooing over Seb. Therefore he must also look completely fabulous.
(convinced yet??! Spend spend spend!)
(note to all on thread: never ask if tis a good idea to go shoppi if you think I may be lurking. oi always advocates a good sesh involving pinnumbers and good quality paper shopping bags Grin)
Kristy baby cinema sounds either brilliant or totally horrific. I must try it. Don't know what's on at the 'pictures', but I may see you there in a couple of weeks.
Alistair has been mostly awake since 2:30pm - 10pm, so I'm hoping for a good sleep now... Goodnight all! X

Mmmmcheese · 23/01/2012 23:24

DS had a tantrum about going to bed from 7 - 10.30pm! No idea what set it off, he's usually so tired he throws himself into bed. Am exhausted now and was planning an early night! Really hope he doesn't make it a habit. Think this could be the start of the terrible twos...

We usually get DS's clothes from Asda, Sainsburys or Tescos. I think Asda is the best as the clothes are really soft and hard-wearing, as well as cheap! Less guilt about buying cute outfits you don't really need!

air what is an attachment assessment?

I ate half a packet of chocolate biscuits all to myself today. Baby weighgt is staying put for now in this house! Oops.

mopsytop · 24/01/2012 00:35

Hi everyone! The night shift begins. Was fast asleep when husband came up to bed, found it veerrry hard to get up! Minimopsy is up to her usual feeding shenanigans! At the moment this involves taking the bottle and sucking ravenously for a few minutes, falling asleep and choking a little on bottle/coughing but staying asleep, then a cpl of minutes later waking up and screeching in outrage for her bottle and when I put it near her frantically trying to get it in her mouth as though she was literally starving. Crazy baby!!!

aethelfleda · 24/01/2012 03:44

Morning nightshifters!

OiMissus · 24/01/2012 04:20

yawn. I tried for an early night, but LO only went down at about 10:30pm, but then he slept til 03:40. If he can now get thru til 8...

Most of LOs clothes come from Tesco now. He started in the finery of mamas n papas, but now his "at home" stuff is tescos, and his visiting/going out stuff comes mainly from Tesco or M&P, plus anything that other people have bought.
His box of outgrown stuff is bursting. Snowsuit, car seat newborn insert, loads of clothes, and in a few weeks a Moses basket I reckon. It's a good job he sleeps with his legs bent, if he stretched out I think he'd cover the full length of the mattress.
G'night.

bennybenbear · 24/01/2012 04:21

Morning! Don't you love it when you drag yourself out of bed to feed and it's just sicked up by the little greedy guts!

hawthers · 24/01/2012 05:26

Here we are again - fancy meeting you all here.

Had a good chat with h earlier to clear the air. Feel slightly less in need of the year's supply of haddock that I've got on standby.

Ds2 seems to find it nearly impossible to go to sleep in his Moses basket at 11 for h after the last feed when I'm tucked up in bed but seems fairly ok about it when I put him back in after his feeds at 2 and 5. Don't know what the answer is short of me doing the 11pm put down but that is the only time I'm guaranteed to be able to hop straight back into bed. H is up for until near enough the 2 an feed trying to get him to sleep. Oh the joys of not knowing what the fuck you are doing.

I'm starving.

OiMissus · 24/01/2012 05:48

Happy to hear that fewer haddock are required.
LO woke himself by coughing and petulantly demanded a feed only to fall asleep 5 mins in. He's back in his basket now, and has started coughing again, I ain't falling for that ole trick! No sirree! Wink

mopsytop · 24/01/2012 06:23

Hello again! Minimopsy went nearly five hrs after last feed woohoo! Unfortunately was grizzling a lot because of having farty pants issues so I kept waking up thinking she wanted feeding. But still good! Hope you all got some decent sleep!

Figgygal · 24/01/2012 06:38

Morning all

LO woke me up at 4.30 for his first feed of night and by time had chance to go to loo he's gone back to sleep. I assumed he'd be up again imminently so couldn't get back to sleep he finally stirred again at 5.45 I should have just got him up shouldnt I!! I never thought he would go that long might start putting him to bed a bit earlier if that's the case.

I also now have a pile of outgrown newborn clothes but he's still a bit small for 0-3 things. Colleague at work is having a boy in June so she will be benefitting greatly.

Yesterday I confirmed with the childminder we want her 3 days a week from 25th June, DH having him 1 day a week and I'm going to have to negotiate with work the same. I really want a Friday or Monday but not sure it'll go down well due to other pt workers going to be brave and call my boss by the end of the week. My pay down to SMP from 02 march too so need to book some keep in touch days between march and going back to work as we get paid a full day even if we only do a few hours and it'll make a big difference. I had budgeted to go back start of June so taking an extra 3 weeks but I don't know how people manage to stay off a year with only SMP. How long are you ladies planning to be off for?

mopsytop · 24/01/2012 06:45

I am putting minimopsy into nursery two days a week from beginning of April. Agh! Dreading it! She will only be 3 and a bit months. I am dreading it! But I have to finish my PhD!

DarcieandSkysmum · 24/01/2012 07:44

Morning ladies.

Sky went 7-11, 11-2, 2-5, 5-7:30 last night. So got a good 6hrs sleep. She sleeps in her Moses basket upto 2am then wants to come in with me - which tbh I enjoy but really need to settle her in her basket. So any tips I would be grateful.

Oi I'm going bridesmaid dress shopping today Grin DP has left me the credit card hehe
Also going for my first wedding dress fitting at 2pm looking forward to see how much better I look without being 7mths pregnant Smile

OiMissus · 24/01/2012 08:43

Morning ladies!
Oh darcies enjoy it! I remember doing that last year - we tried Karen Millen (they weren't impressed), Coast, Monsoon (almost thought we'd cracked it) then Debenhams ( the girls were elated and my bank account breathed a sigh of relief!). Debs was good for dresses, shoes and headgear.
And then we went for a nice lunch where we thought about getting salads. Grin
Wedding dress fitting!!!!! Lovely lovely lovely! Ah i want to do it all again! Have fun!
I'm now on SMP. I had 6wks at90%, now into 12 wks of SMP, then will have 3wks holiday. Back to work 23rd April. Doing 10 days (the max allowed) of KIT days - will end up doing more. I've done 2days worth of work already.
I'm going to have to start looking for a nursery/childminder. Mum's going to have him on Weds and Thurs, I'm going to try to do longer hours mon-thurs so I can stay at home Friday and just do a couple of hours.
I need to speak to the mortgage advisor to see how much they'd give me without DH's salary, then he could be a SAHD instead. Right, better get showered and ready. Yawn.

DarcieandSkysmum · 24/01/2012 09:23

Oi unfortunately there isn't a debenhams in Chichester :(

Decided I need to put Sky onto easy digestible cow & gate as shes def struggling when pooing - not constipated as is passing a movement but struggles when does so.

itsybitsy08 · 24/01/2012 09:42

Hiya everyone! Just checking in :)
I'd like to thankyou all for keeping me be these last few weeks over the nightshift! Gives me something to read and feel less alone - my do is still sleeping on the couch and we are 7 weeks in now. I go to bed with ds around 9pm and he is fed and in basket by 10 latest but dp likes to stay up later so he just sleeps on sofa so not to disturb us. Last few weeks ds has being going to between 2 & 3 ish which is Brill, and back down between 6& 7. So I think we will keep him (I had kept the reciept just in case!)
I am breastfeeding and all seems to be going well, but I am bloody sick of having to wear a bra all the time, it only comes off when im in bath. I leak too much. My hats off to those of you having had troubles though, you are amazing preserving with the feed pump top up routines for so long. What lucky babies in this thread to have such lovely mums :)
Wet going back to work I am super lucky to not be going back to august - 6 months full pay and then 3 at smp. Feels like ages away, but it will fly.
Hawthers glad you and dh had a good chat - myself and dp have had a few clashes too, its a stressful time, especially when you have other dc too.
as now straving so im off, but I am going to try and join in the chat abit more if you don't mind :)

aethelfleda · 24/01/2012 10:37

itsy bitsy, chat away, the more the merrier!
Sounds like your LO is very happy, good job madam :)

We're having a snuggle morning and filling in child benefit form (which I lost in the huge pile of cr*p inthe front room, la la la...)
Also :( ringing the police as some 'orrible scrote has nicked my DD2's scooter from the front garden. It won't be covered on insurance as it wasn't locked up, we usually keep it inside but she's only 4 and forgot to bring it in on Friday, think was oportunist theft. Grrrrr.

sevenswansaswimming · 24/01/2012 10:47

Morning, it was my night off, Eva has been awake from 2am according to DH. I don't think he was too impressed that I got up and dressed Eva, gave her some juice and got her settled in her basket asleep. I may end up doing tonight and tomorrow night as she has her immunisations tomorrow. DS was awful after his first ones, he woke at 11pm and screamed inconsolably until he wore himself out and fell asleep. I'll be giving her calpol before she has them though which I didn't with DS's first ones.

I ordered Eva a load of 3-6month clothes from asda direct last night. I love next for kids clothes but we're thinking of getting a new car on Motability before our 10yo one gives up so we'll be £200 a month worse off. I've ordered long and short sleeved bodysuits, 2 pairs leggings, 2 tops, 3 sets of dresses with leggings and a box of nappies for under £50!

kristy you don't sound paranoid, I'm no healthcare expert but he sounds exactly like Eva was before I changed her milk (minus the rash). Comfort milk you can buy from the shelf, you could always try it for a couple of days to see if it helps before taking him to the dr?

YBR · 24/01/2012 10:49

So this weeks aims are going OK already.

  1. Will process started, discussed with solicitor and waiting to see what comes out.
  2. Real nappies - tried a few but the washing machine leaked when we washed them - it doesn't like small loads atm. I prefer velcro to poppers already! Add objective 4: Either (a) Visit some Day Nurseries, in case DH finds a job OR (b) make a firm decision for him to be a SAHD.

Work wise I'm limiting myself to 6 months since I don't want Brain Atrophy, plus with unemployed DH I doubt we can afford more. We're still waiting for DH's redundancy payments so it's a bit vague really.

DarcieandSkysmum · 24/01/2012 10:53

Seven when you put Eva on the comfort milk did she settle a lot better and not seem to be in pain with wind/constipation? as Sky is really suffering :(

sevenswansaswimming · 24/01/2012 11:13

darcies comfort milk stopped her constipation but she was still screaming when she wasn't being held, HV then suggested we try the lactose-free milk which has made a massive difference. I'd certainly give it a try though then maybe call your HV if it doesn't help. Have you tried giving her juice if she constipated? 5ml of fresh orange juice (not the concentrate stuff) in 60ml of water. Eva has it twice a day and the LF makes her constipated. As much as I love the newborn stage I'm looking forward to weaning, I think she'll be much better when she can have pear and apple purée!

DarcieandSkysmum · 24/01/2012 11:22

Seven Never heard of giving OJ before. I don't really listen to the HV as they don't really help & give bad advice generally!

sevenswansaswimming · 24/01/2012 11:40

I think I'm very lucky that my HV is brilliant, it's a shame that some of them are so bad we're having to give each other advice.

DarcieandSkysmum · 24/01/2012 11:58

am waiting on a callback from my GP - I trust him more.

AnAirOfHope · 24/01/2012 15:43

Hi

Hope has just had her first injection and Air cried as he kissed her but she still cried Grin He sang to her and rubbed her back to make her feel bette but got upset as none of it stoped her crying or made her better. I love my son Grin

Attachment Assessment is a polit programme run in this area by STEPS to assess children whom mothers had PND to see what the affect is on the children and mothers relationship/bond.
Its call wait watch and wounder. The child plays and then you assess what is going on in the childs head! I had PND for 16 months before i had a breakdown and got help. The HV is concerned as she did not pick up on it at all. I did not hurt or neglet my son just myself but the HP do not seem to believe this to be the case and if you have PND then you "must" have hurt your child - its just not true in my case but they dont believe me Sad
