I'm in no way medically trained so obv I can't say for sure but generally 'let' isn't a word us Vbac-ers (or Hbac in my case) like to use or hear :)

Frak I think most of my friends here have ended up co-sleeping and there are no squashed babies :) We don't want to co-sleep as we'd need a bigger bed and M sleeps reasonably well in her cot generally. But when she's ill I can't blame her for not wanting to be moved when she's settled to sleep between the two people who love her most and it was the best way for us all to get a bit of rest.
Kitty no, it's unlikely my mum would be looking after M as she's 2 and a half hours away.

Finally we have a nap :) so I'm having a rew and trying to sort out my return to work stuff :(

I have an Amazonas sling and I love it. It's one that's just a length of fabric. I find it dead easy to tie and when H was tiny he loved it as he was all snuggled into me [misty eyed at recollection of tiny snuggled baby]...

A good friend had a really positive VBAC after a traumatic EMCS but remember Kitty, it's your birth and your choice!

H has only had one hake hour nap since 7.15am. It's now 4.15pm Hmm

Defo get another cot Kitty. The last thing you want when you're up with the baby are nocturnal visits from S.

If you're anything like me, just ignore anything your mum says about raising your children. I nod and make the right noises, but most of the time I am just internally thinking 'yeah, whatever', I sound like a teenager don't I?!

DS 2&3 were VBAC's at home in water after a EMCS with ds1. So of course I thoroughly recommend VBAC's!, so if you ever want to ask anything, ask away Smile I found my VBAC's very healing (emotionally and mentally) after the section.

I don't believe 18 months between pregnancies should be a problem wrt your scar. Your pelvic floor on the other hand .............. Grin

Whoever asked about HV's, no I have never come across a male HV. There are some male MW's about though.

Why did you end up with a CS kitty? They should let you try unless there was a reason why they planned an ELCS or unless you don't go into labour naturally (as inducing a VBAC isn't generally a good idea). If it's something you want to do then go for it!

I'm home! Got to leave early as they have no laptop, desk or security badge for me! You would think that I just pitched up this morning unannounced!!

MumtoTiny Are you an Owl!! Such Fun!! Re male HVs, we don;t have and male HV, but the childrens nurse at our practice is a man and runs the clinics and classes just like the HVs. I was a bit surprised when I turned up to the BF clinic when B was weeks old and he was a man as he has a name that could be a lady.

Kitty my GP told me to not even TTC within a year because of my CS, but that could be more because of the issues I've had.

Can't remember if I updated on my scar. GP has taken a swab to see whats going on. It isn't the scar thats the problem but the skin around it. She wasn't that concerned TBH. I got a bit of a lecture about losing some weight, which I know is a factor because the scar is in the the oh so attractive fat fold. So really no further on with the problem. I've just got to try to keep it dry.

I've been getting updates from CM all day and it sounds like B has had a ball! He wasn't keen on my Brocolli and Cauliflower cheese for lunch. Ungrateful little nyaff :o ! Need to rethink for tomorrow, as I batch cooked last night thinking it would do today and tomorrow. CM hasnpt done BLW before so she was a bit Hmm and Shock about it. Maybe I'll just do little sandwiches for him tomorrow. Anyone got simple BLW ideas for packed lunches?

So him being an awkward little sod Wink which means they don't really have any reason why you shouldn't assuming everything healed well.

Poor show on work's part fizz. Hope they get their act together! What about cucumber sticks, cherry tomatoes and a sandwich? M loves fresh goats cheese as a sandwich or just spread on bread. Some kind of tart? Pizza strips? Cheese and lentil wedges? Meatballs? What do you have in the fridge?

Have to say I am lucky with my pelvic floor, even with 3 in just under 5 years I'm fine, I am good about the exercises when pg though - less good when not, I just don't think of it.

DD was a water birth at home too - totally 'not allowed' post c-s Hmm
I was told to wait 2 years to TTC after DS2's c-s and now I'm glad I did as it meant we got through all his epilepsy & brain surgery without a baby/pg to worry about.
But when pg with DD I did lots of research into VBAC/HBAC and realised that was a load of tosh. It worked out in the end for me though as I love the gap I've got now :)
See if you can track down a copy of Silent Knife, very informative book - hard to get hold of. I bought a copy and posted it onto the next person who wanted it on the Yahoo group - on the understanding it would get passed on, so it should be floating about somewhere.
Maybe even get hold of copies of your notes (you have to pay but not too much normally) to have a debrief about the c-s and why things happened?
I found - back later MIL on skype :)

I have cheese, tomatoes, carrots, faithless, peppers, fresh pasta, gnocchi, ham in fridge. store cupboard breadsticks rice cakes malt loaf apricots dried and fresh bananas pears grapes. I have ingredients for scones but don't think I have the inclination.action to make them tonight! I could just give her a selection. would you think badly of someone giving their baby rice cakes and dairylea. for lunch? I'd compensate with fruit.

Fizz Rubbish about work, but great that B had a good time with the childminder. And Dairylea on rice cakes is fine. Cheese, rice cakes and cherry toms is one of S's favorites.

MtoT Thanks for gunky eye info, and Kitty for the squirt of BM trip. I've done the BM in the eye yesterday and today, trouble is he starts leaning backwards to get it in his mouth! Anyway, if his eyes are still bad tomorrow it'll be time for a trip to the doctors.

No male HVs here either.

Right, S is ASLEEP (ok so in our bed but at least he's asleep which after last night feels like a miracle!) I'm having a glass of Wine Grin

Yes, I am back from baby clinic. Was there 2hrs 10mins before being seen, tho. Nightmare waiting room full of bored children!

kitty 8-10 month development review is what it's called. Not much to it - they do weight and height, ask ifI think the baby can see and hear, ask how it's going with sitting standing weaning crawling etc then give you a toothbrush and a DVD about how to talk to your child (!). Dare say it differs from area to area. I got a letter telling me to bring her into baby clinic for it.

Dairy- express onto a teaspoon then tip it into his eye?

Ooh Fizz, I'm not doing BLW per se but give H a lot of finger foods. Today I tried a recipe I nicked from a huge BLW fan and slightly modified. It was totally delicious!

Cheesy lentil wedges:

8oz cooked red lentils
1 large onion chopped and fried til soft
1oz breadcrumbs
3.5oz grated cheese
1 egg
Ground black pepper
1tsp mixed herbs (I used cumin and smoked paprika instead as I love them!)

Mix all together, press into 9in cake tin and bake at 180C for 20-30mins til cooked.

It's like a savoury cake with the consistency of mash. H went nuts for it.

T basically gets sandwiches for lunch because that is what I make for myself, and for DS1's lunchbox so I cannot be arsed with starting again Grin
Today he had roast beef sandwiches for lunch, and then sausage and mash for tea. He takes his sandwiches apart to pick out the filling, so funny Grin
I give him cheese, hummus, cold meat of whatever kind is floating in the fridge, tuna mayo, salmon flaked up. Anything really.

Seem to be lacking much time for posting at the moment, god knows what I'm going to be like when I get back to work!!! (which will be the 2nd of February :()

Kitty Congratulations!!! I am Envy, Shock and Grin all at once!! But maybe mostly Envy hehe. Can't believe we're going to be discussing EDDs etc again so soon! I know what you mean about VBAC not being "allowed" I believe it's the same in my area under a year after CS. Hope you get to do whatever it is you want to though :)

Sympathies for those of you still not getting much sleep, Chilli you spring to mind particularly. Hope things improve soon. Maybe you could speak to my SIL she is moaning (A LOT) about 2 wake ups a night and her LO is only 4 weeks old! But she's a whole other story and I'm not going to get started or I might not stop!

Think R has more teeth on the way, am guessing at bottom incisors, she's been a right grumpy so and so the last few days. Still sleeping well at night but only having 2 x 25 minute cat naps during the day - ugh!! It makes for a very unhappy baby most of the day. Sure it'll pass soon. She's sounding quite chesy tonight too so hope she's not coming down with something more sinister and it's all just teething related.

Re: food, I'm interested to know what you do feed M JKS!?
We're doing a mixture of finger food and mashed stuff which seems to be working out ok. Until the nursery told me R had sandwiches and CRISPS(!!!!!) for lunch last week. I mean sandwiches are fine but crisps?? Really? I'm guessing they won't have been the organic, no salt, no additive variety that I sometimes give her??? Is that a bit PFB?
Yesterday we tested out egg mayo sarnies and they went down a storm and dairylea on toast is a favourite too. Basically she'll try anything but still think I need to be pushing more finger foods so might try the lentil things you mentioned Cycle :)
She's been refusing her morning bottle the last few days so am going over board on yogurt, cheese etc to make up for it. It's a bit young at almost 9mo to drop down to 2 bottles isn't it? DP's ex informed me last week hat DSS dropped all milk feeds at 9mo, I was a little bit Shock

Anyway I'm just wittering a bit here so off to bed, will catch up again tomorrow.

Um, well bear in mind she has 2 older brothers & sees what they're having (+ we're pretty relaxed about food compared to some of the other parents we know)....

If i say the things she's tasted that are not really in 'Annabel Karmel's book', lol (not necessarily very often, or that she likes), you'll probably freak but here goes:

  • choc spread sandwiches
  • crisps (all sorts)
  • white choc buttons
  • biscuits (all sorts)
  • cheerios (lots every morning)
  • Thai food
  • fish fingers
  • potato waffles/oven chips

Better stuff that she loves:
  • broccoli (won't eat anything else if she can see some on the table, weirdo kid)
  • petit filous (ditto above)
  • any kind of bread product (breadsticks, toast, etc.)
  • melba toast she loves!
  • organix crisps & biscuits (at least they are baby friendly!)
  • plums (cannot get enough but I've found out they stain terribly so watch out. she manages to suck all the plum off the skin and then spit the skin out)
  • sausages

She's currently eating the Argos catalogue Hmm Grin so I best go!

I am indeed an owl Fizz - Barn Owl (although they call me Barny or Miss, which pisses me off!). I've been doing Brownies forever, so am used to organising/bossing people about - hence why I need to take a step back from playgroup or I'll end up far too involved!

Re. Food, T's very favourite thing is probably prawn crackers (he's only had them twice, but he's like a nutter with them!), followed closely by fruit of all kinds. He's also rather partial to mini cheddars and twiglets, and has had several sucks on wasabi peas - he does a very amusing face and head-shake to get over the taste! He's currently loving Daddy's homemade banana loaf. We're BLWing, but he doesn't get much off a spoon at the mo - must try harder (it's just easier to clean up when there isn't yoghurt everywhere!).
