She got a bit of a rash that I thought might be Chicken Pox on Monday. By Tuesday, it had spread and merged and was obviously not CP so I took her to the doctors who said it was a viral rash and prescribed antihistamines. By bath time that night, it had spread even more and her knees had swollen up and were red and hard too so I took her to the walk in centre. We were seen very fast as obviously the nurses were worried too. They wanted to do a blood test but had to send us over to A&E as they needed a Paediatric doctor to do it and A&E sent us to the Paediatric ward. All the time we were there she was getting worse and worse and worse and by the time she'd been seen they decided that they were going to admit her! We spent overnight and the whole of the next day in hospital. The rash got worse, then faded and then turned to bruises!!

The blood tests showed nothing sinister so we're still not sure what caused it. Best guess is some sort of viral rash. It was a very scary 28 hours!

She's much better now thankfully.

She's fine now, the rash has all gone. She's still not feeling totally right though I don't think as she goes very cuddly very quickly if we try to go out and was quite hot this morning. Poor baby.

Is anyone else getting a bit disenchanted with MN? It seems to be really changing. There was a thread a few nights ago where people were outing other MNers using their real life names and comments they'd made on FB groups! It just doesn't feel safe here any more.

I'm taking a Mumsnet break. It's just awful at the moment.

MrsHerculePoirot · 08/07/2012 10:44

Hi everyone - glad Catherine is feeling better Blathers and sorry that you're taking a break from MN.

I haven't seen any of the threads you are talking about. I do know that some people say things on MN that aren't true, or are exaggerations of what has actually happened. People seem to forget that the internet is a public place - and anything you write could possibly put you in a vulnerable position. I think if those people then mix FB and MN friends they can put themselves in a difficult position. Tbh I wouldn't mind if anyone knew me on here and on FB and in real life as I know that I am only write things on here that I would be happy to tell anyone in RL if that makes sense. In the same way that there are always people out to cause trouble in real life (work places/school etc...) you will have the same on any internet forum hence the need to remember it is a public place. Anyway, I hope you come back soon!!!

MrsHerculePoirot · 08/07/2012 10:45

Oh god, that sounded VERY preachy and not how I meant it to come across at all. Basically I was trying to say ignore the idiots and just to to us, the nice people!!!!

I've popped back for a bit of party planning so thought I'd say hi. Anyone still around?

Hurrah! You are all here! I just saw blathers on another thread and thought I'd check and see. How is everyone?

Blatherskite · 28/08/2012 19:04

Yes, I was lured back by needing advice on the party planning thread and have been resisting the urge to post but that one beat me.

I can't say I missed the rest of it though.

Oh yeah! I went and looked around the hall this afternoon and already have the bouncy castles booked.

Can't be messing around with these December birthdays!

C has requested "a bouncy castle and a cake....with an elephant on". I have my orders Grin

I've got a friend who runs a bouncy castle company so we're basically getting 2 for 1 too. A castle for the 3 year olds to bounce on and an inflatable slide for DS and his mates to go on to stop them squishing the little ones. The hall I looked at yesterday is big enough to get both in. I'm guessing that they won't want to do anything but bounce so I won't need to do any more activities except maybe a pass the parcel and I can only get the hall mid-afternoon so I won't need any food other than snacks and cake.

C starts pre school in September too. She's already got plenty of friends with all of DS's little siblings though so I hope she doesn't insist on inviting too many more!

MrsHerculePoirot · 29/08/2012 12:20

Impressive! How big is the hall Blathers? and how many do you think you'll invite? Have started to think about it a little bit here as Immy has now been to quite a lot of other parties over the last year so I think we will need to do something this year for her. She has been adament since about February that she wants a Peppa Pig cake (she had Iggle Piggle last year)!!!

She doesn't start nursery school until January here. I am really panicking at the moment though about what we will do about childcare on the days that she goes. They get either mornings or afternoons so either start at 830 am or finish at 330 pm. That is the exact start and end of my school and there is no before or after school clubs for them until reception. I have no idea if my childminder will be able to drop and collect for me as most of the other children go to schools in a slightly different place. She'll be there for 5 terms in total I think before reception, although I might have got that wrong? I was hoping to get pregnant again and be on mat leave, but that plan isn't going very well atm!!!

MrsHerculePoirot · 29/08/2012 12:20

Sparkly how are you?!?

Blatherskite · 29/08/2012 21:49

The hall is huge! The inflatables can take about 14 kids all at once so I'll try to stick close to that I think. I don't want anyone hurt or to be having to be making them take turns.

I would have quite liked to have waiting until C was 3 to start pre school but the one we signed her up for is so over-subscribed that you basically have to take slots when they are offered otherwise they're gone and they have more available slots (although only 20-odd for 70-odd children) starting in September. The chances of getting in in December are much lower. I think she'll be fine though. She's already got a couple of friends who will be there and it's only 2 mornings a week at first. It's going to be very strange having no children at home though!

Sorry TTC is not going very well Hercule Sad

We might be able to get extra sessions for C in January as she'll be 3 and entitled to her free sessions. I'm in no hurry though, she's going to be there for 2 years before she starts reception and I'd rather spend the time with her while I can.

Anything to put off having to get a job Wink

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/08/2012 20:58

Immy is getting her 15 hours in Jan hence starting then. Our borough only allows starting (at a school nursery) the beginning of the term after a child's third birthday. Then some school nurseries have children start in sept, jan an Easter but it depends on the school and demand on places. Our local school has two form nursery basically and they har a sept and jan intake so we are lucky - if we lived nearer Wimbledon thy only have sept entry as too many applicants for places! Also we don't officially know yet if she has morning or afternoon place!
