ooh yeah! could be a winner! Anyone else fancy an early summer Friday afternoon in York?! Alternatively blathers and me will go it alone! :)

Blatherskite · 20/04/2012 07:51

Not quite alone - I'll have Alex, Catherine and DH in tow! Wink

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 20/04/2012 09:52

We still need to organise a crafty drink when I'm at that wedding reception Lee.

You guys just sit back, I'll come to you Wink

WhispersOfWickedness · 23/04/2012 16:51

Hello!
I know, I am so rubbish, abandoning you all for so long! Not much excuse except that time seems to be flying by at the moment, months are galloping past, I cannot believe it's nearly May!! Confused
Anyway, this is a rare moment in the Whispers household as both children are asleep, at the same time! Shock
So thought I would take the opportunity to come on here while I'm on my laptop and write a big long post, as I normally come onto mn on my ipod, but writing long messages is a bit of a PITA.
Things are ok here, but very very hectic, I don't feel like I have a second to myself, especially since Rosa learnt to crawl and pull herself up. It's driving me crazy at the moment as she can get up but her method of getting down is just to let go and hope for the best as she goes crashing to the floor Hmm
Noah is great, although is a master at attention seeking behaviour, he is often found throwing things or something else which we have asked him not to do, it's very tiring! Also, when we ask him to do something that he doesn't want to do, he says 'No thanks!' as if saying it in a polite way will get him off the hook Hmm :o I guess I should be grateful that he doesn't have tantrums though!

I think I could possibly manage an afternoon in York! I think it's about 2 hours from me which is just about doable :)

Hope everyone's ok, glad to hear about your dad, Ethelred and sorry to hear about the pesky AFs, I have really got my fingers crossed for you both for this month!

Will hopefully drop into this thread more now that it is back on my threads I'm on list!

Rosa's just turned 8 months, scary stuff!

Can I talk to you all about potty training? Seriously, how tf do you do it?! I have taken everything in my stride so far and just gone with instincts but I'm really scared of getting this one wrong and causing problems...

Hoorah! I've found you. This dropped off my active threads Blush

WhispersOfWickedness · 30/04/2012 21:50

Sorry Lee, I meant to come back and say that it's hard to go back on my iPod but will do it when I'm on the laptop but didn't get round to it!
I've decided we're going to start in June when Noah will be 2.6 and also the beginning of summer so not so many clothes required. And hope to make some headway by September when we have decided he will start doing one session a week in pre-school Grin Am slightly scared about that as it will be the first time he has been looked after by non family but I know he will love it Smile

I'm still here too!

We had a bit of potty training at the weekend, Immy asked to wear her knickers seemed happy to poo in the potty but would not wee for love nor money (or chocolate!). She went 7 hours without weeing and then of course had an accident. Tried everything to get her to drink lots too, but to no avail! She went back in nappies on Sunday as we were going out for lunch and driving some way and by then she wanted them back on and was getting upset.

I am going to properly do it this weekend - I have Friday to Monday with basically no plans so that will be good. My childminder is happy to continue on Tuesday and Wednesday with her and on those days there are other, slightly older children who she loves and who are already toilet trained so I think that will help her too. We have talked about it and she is looking forward to weeing on the potty apparently at the weekend and next weekend as she is now a big girl like the others. Hmmmmm we shall see.

I think I probably freaked her out a bit by keep asking her if she wanted a wee so am going to take the saying nothing tact instead this time round and just try and encourage lots of drinking. I think I might buy some 'exciting' drinks for her (like cartons of apple juice and fruit shoots and all the things that we never usually have at home and therefore she loves to drink when out and about!) to get her to drink more.

Anyway, shall stop rambling now...

MrsHerculePoirot · 04/05/2012 21:30

Potty training complete disaster. Rubbish day!

Hope everyone has nice long weekends!

WhispersOfWickedness · 04/05/2012 21:39

Oh no! I am still having a major wobble about it, planning to start at the beginning of June. Going to buy hundreds of pairs of pants tomorrow in Tesco and need to buy some vests as well as we still use the poppered vests but don't think they'd be very practical with pants!! Argh, so much to think about and we haven't even started yet!!

Blatherskite · 04/05/2012 21:42

Oh no Sad Catherine's potty training is back on hold while I sort her sleeping out again. She will not nap at all any more but it's leaving her over tired most days. This week she's either been up really early (4.50am once morning) or really late (7.45am) and today she fell asleep at 10am and had a 3 and a half hour nap! She always used to nap around 1.30pm so I can only assume she was tired out from waking me up at 5.50 this morning.

I'm not awake enough to deal with potties too at the moment.

MrsHerculePoirot · 05/05/2012 09:05

Thank you both I think I felt I was a failure yesterday but have looked up lots and feel better now. I have never seen immy so distressed which was horrid. Anyway just going to leave it for a bit and am happy with that. DH at big scout camp weekend so going down there today in the rain to play!

Naps annoying here too - some days we have none, other days we have a short nap in the car and other days we sleep in bed anywhere from 45 mins up to 3.5 hours in bed!

It seems Catherine's random sleeping has been because she was coming down with something.

She had a long sleep on Friday afternoon too and then woke up early on Saturday with a raging temperature and looking very poorly. She fell asleep on the kitchen floor just before lunch and woke up looking even worse Sad She ended up in with us last night so everyone had a broken night's sleep, although it was probably better than if she'd been in her own bed as all she did to comfort herself was twiddle my hair a bit so it saves lots of getting up and down.

She's got a very red cheek too so I'm wondering whether she's got a bug and teething too. She won't let us see so it's hard to tell. Teeth would explain the red cheek, maybe the temperature and the runs too but not the horrid cough and the fact that DH and I both seem to have caught it.

She seems better this morning but only in comparison to yesterday. Nice quiet day in for all today I think.

Not sure. She definitely only got 1 red cheek and didn't seem poorly until the cheek got red. The NHS website says she should have been poorly for 3-5 days before both cheeks got red. She's really chesty too which isn't mentioned.

The fever broke yesterday afternoon and she cheered up a lot. We moved dinner forward by an hour to catch her at her best in the hope of getting some food down her but she would only eat a couple of slices of garlic bread. Better than nothing I guess.

She was OK then until bedtime and I thought we'd cracked it but laying down at bedtime made her chesty-ness even worse and she was sick about 9pm. After lots of cuddles and an hour and a bit of sleeping upright on me, we got her back to bed and she went through until almost 6am this morning.

She's warm again this morning but not burning up any more, still chesty but she asked for a drink as soon as she got up which is an improvement too as she was just too poorly to do much other than cry yesterday.

DH and I are knackered but at least we've got another day with him at home to rest. MIL has invited us for dinner today but we'll have to see how Catherine is. I don't want to make her cousins poorly too. Alex has so far sailed through it but he has his Daddy's immune system and is very, very rarely ill.

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/05/2012 20:31

How is Catherine now blathers? Hope all recovered!

I won't write it all out again but can I share this I am VERY proud can you tell!?
