She's better but not well yet Sad

The temperature has gone but she has the most awful chesty cough and runny nose which are stopping her from sleeping so she's groggy and tearful for much of the day.

It's making her already fussy diet ever tougher too.

Fab news about the potty. I've been to an hours worth of induction meeting for Catherine's pre school this morning and was asked if she's dry yet. Once she's well, I really need to get back on with training.

MrsHerculePoirot · 11/05/2012 19:19

Hope she feels better soon Blathers.

Imogen seems to have got the potty thing completely - as she withheld wees for 7 hours I know she has good bladder control, so I just decided to get on with things as normal today. We went on the bus to my parents house, went out to a garden centre and to a friends house to play. She has done 8 wees today - all in the potty and is very proud of herself. She seems able to say when she needs to go and is quite happy to walk to the nearest toilet or somewhere without running at the speed of light. I am not sure how she will cope however with the first accident now but we shall see...

HOORAY for sun! We have been out in the garden at my parents and friends houses so mucn nicer than all this rain. I hope it stays for a little while. I hope everyone has nice weekends planned!

Ethel - did you have a good holiday?

Hello! Still here! Just marking my place! All ok here, holiday was fab. Got hectic weekend, but will write more v soon. Xxx

Blatherskite · 13/05/2012 08:14

Finally! We've had a full nights sleep and Catherine isn't so chesty.

If a full nights sleep didn't involve being woken at 6.40am on a Sunday morning, I'd be jumping for joy :)

MrsHerculePoirot · 13/05/2012 09:20

Hurray! Glad she is on the mend - hope the weather holds now I reckon that always helps!

Day 4 of potty training here no accidents yet and immy had a three hour nap yesterday in knickers (her idea I might add DH and I were all for the nappy option!) and stayed dry. She is so excited with her new found skills!!!

Blatherskite · 17/05/2012 21:52

She's better but I have it now.

Birthday night out cancelled as I just can't bear the thought :(

We seem to be getting the lurgy one by one. C is fine, I've still got the cough and DH has the stinking headache and shivers. Only A holding out but he's so grumpy I won't be surprised if he gets it soon.

This may make DH and I's planned birthday night out tomorrow less fun that it should be Sad

MrsHerculePoirot · 19/05/2012 14:49

Oh no Blathers that is rubbish. Hope you all recover super fast.

Potty training done I think! No accidents at all when awake - two small ones when asleep at cm. We were out shopping all morning and she was fine - said when she needed to go, we went and found nearest loo and off she went! Best bit was DH had the poo visit!!!

Bless Andrew being so excited - are your PiLs good at playing with him?

AF arrived this week again. Boo. But if not TMI this one seems much more 'normal' than last two which were ridiculously heavy so I am telling myself back to normal now!!!

WhispersOfWickedness · 21/05/2012 21:26

Hello again!

Sorry, been rubbish again, no excuse this time, other than a cat/human live birth thread totally diverting my attention for the last week Blush

Brilliant news about the potty training, Hercule! :) Lee - I'm going to have a go with your method once we get started (beg. of June), am quaking in my boots! How do you know that it's not worked and that it's best to leave it again for a bit? I think my main worry is that it's going to be a PITA with Rosa as well, as I'll either have to lug her upstairs as well, or leave her to wail in the living room. I'm also a bit worried that Noah will jump on it as a perfect attention seeking opportunity and will use it to drag me away from Rosa at every opportunity :(
Gah, someone wake me up in several a few months time when it's all over!

Hope everyone is well (and that you're all recovering, Blathers) :)

Hello! I think about the potty training, that if they are getting really upset with it, it isn't working and to let it go for a bit. That happened the first few twice we tried it - she withheld her wees for hours and then got hysterical so we just stopped. Second time it was only 5 days later she decided it was all fine. If they aren't getting upset by it then maybe just keep going with it... that is only based on me discussing this with friends of course, not on any actual knowledge you understand!!!

Lee - glad you had a lovely time with PiL. It is nice when other people play loads with them and you get to watch rather than get bossed about I always think.

Blathers, hope you are feeling much better now and that the sunshine is helping.

Whispers to start with we had the potty in the front room downstairs and actually going up to empty it afterwards I think will be fine. Most of the messing about with it I think will come from them saying they want to go, then not going, then two minutes later repeating this... you can watch that sitting downstairs holding Rosa and then once done going upstairs should be the easy part I reckon!

Hope everyone is having lovely weather too!

Blatherskite · 27/05/2012 20:37

It's been wonderful weather here all weekend. Had a lovely birthday. Hope you did too Ethel.

Blatherskite · 30/05/2012 13:14

Bumping. It's almost half term. What's everyone up to?

WhispersOfWickedness · 05/06/2012 21:21

Hi All!

Sorry for going quiet for a bit, usual excuse of not liking to type mammoth posts on my ipod!

So, we have started potty training. It is not going well. He is physically ready, in that he can hold it and then do a pee when on the toilet/potty, but he won't ask and doesn't seem at all bothered by having accidents, which he always has if we don't put him on the toilet/potty. He doesn't take himself to the toilet/potty, does not tell us if he needs/has done a wee and always says no if we ask him if he needs it. So, give up? Is it too soon? We haven't even got to the poos stage, he has only pooed in his night nappy so far! I don't think he's holding it though, as it's not unusual for us to have to change his night nappy.
Argh! I know that I need to not stress about it, but for some reason it all seems to really hit a nerve (I don't show him that though!). I have been super relaxed about so many changes in the past 2.6 years (feeding, weaning, moving to a bed, giving up dummy, etc etc) and they have always gone really well, so I do feel a little bit like the trouble is linked to me feeling stressed about it :(

Anyway, hope you've all had a really good weekend and everything is fine for you all :)

MrsHerculePoirot · 06/06/2012 09:51

I don't think it is your fault at all! I think they are all completely different and do it how they want. I felt like I had no idea what to do for the best with potty training for the first time in a long time - like I used to feel about sorting out her sleep and weaning I guess. My friend's daughter sounds exactly the same - didn't seem bothered about being wet, but she wanted to wear knickers so friend stuck with it and he was fine after about 3/4 weeks. She uses sticker charts and chocolate buttons as rewards and just bought loads if knickers!!! Her childminder also suggested leaving her in her wet things for a bit longer as sometimes they need to realise it isn't nice, but friends DD really didn't care tbh. As to carrying on I don't know - maybe if you carry on it will be fine, but maybe if you stop he'll decide to do it himself? Who knows with them this age?!?!

We had a lovely weekend, party here on Monday which Immy loved! I made my own bunting and union flag cake! Immy wore her crown and it was nice to catch up with friends. What did everyone else do?

Hi!

We had a great time for the jubilee, there was a party in the village, we took the kids to the kids tea party, was really nice and really well attended :) Then we had a beacon in our village and fireworks which Noah loved and Rosa not so much Confused

As for the potty training.... we tried for 5 days and then gave up as there wasn't really any change. So had a break of a few days and then I asked him if he wanted to wear pants last night as it was close to bed time and I didn't want to 'waste' a nappy Blush Then when he got up this morning, he wanted pants on again and refused nappies all day! He's been waiting about 1.5 hours between going and only had one accident this afternoon, and even stayed dry during a two hour nap! He's still not really asking, but not objecting to the toilet (still objecting to the potty) and if I push it a little bit, he says he wants to go :o so I think we will carry on now :) Still not sure what will happen with poos, he does try to do them on the toilet, but hasn't got the patience to wait, so hops off too soon. Might have to get him some wipe clean books to read while he's there :o

Anyway, hope everyone else is ok :)

MrsHerculePoirot · 16/06/2012 11:44

Lost you all so just bumping

MrsHerculePoirot · 29/06/2012 15:44

Hi everyone! Blathers, how is Catherine today? Hope she is feeling better now.

Lee - how was your scout camp?

Whispers - did you go back to potty training, or leaving it for a bit longer?

Hope you are all well anyway...

Blatherskite · 29/06/2012 15:52

She's much better. Most of the bruising is gone now, just a few bits left where the worst of the rash was and she has a little bruise on the back of her hand where the cannula went in. She still has a bit of a temperature too but we're keeping it down with Calpol and Nurofen.

She'll be back to normal in no time.

Still catching back up with my sleep though!

MrsHerculePoirot · 29/06/2012 16:27

Glad to hear it, poor thing. Hope you gets lots of sleep at the weekend.
