Just checking in to say get well soon poorly people, sleep well soon waking babies, and survive well those going through various issues like mils and dhs going away!

I have now had three nights of waking baby, lo is very snotty and grumpy. DH tried to take him to give me some rest this morning but lo was screaming so much I had to get out of bed and feed him. I was in tears, DH was angry that I had butted in when he was dressing lo, baby was blowing bogie bubbles Sad. Not a good start to the day. I've got the morning at home which I'm not looking forward to, but am going to surestart centre later so will at least get out of the house.

As for moving babies, my lo just sits or lies there looking at me! He did roll from back to front the other day. Think he's just got used to mummy waiting on him hand and foot!

Have a good day!

Ps. Sebs whereabouts are you? Stone cottage sounds idyllic!

feralgirl · 02/02/2012 11:52

Can I just say brrrrr! And I'm very nearly as far south as you can get I have finally relented and put the heating on in the evenings but I am determined to get through today with lots of layers on me and DD and no radiators until the rest of the family are home as well. I am not fancying my run later Sad

We went to DS's usual toddler group thing this morning and the church hall was so cold that you could see your breath; DS clearly wasn't bothered as he instantly stripped off his shoes, coat and jumper. Toddlers are weird little animals aren't they?!

DD is straight away up on her hands and knees when you put her down and is able to put her head on the floor and kick her feet up (like when little kids try to do headstands) which is very funny but she's rubbish at going forwards, only sideways or backwards which gets her very cross and then she starts making this new outraged squealing noise like a piglet being butchered.

I really hope that all the snuffly snotty babies get better soon; DS has got conjunctivitis and I am paranoid that he's going to give it to DD. Has anyone got any tips for getting eye drops into a strapping great big 3yo?

tiddleypompom · 02/02/2012 12:12

:o I did laugh at outrageous piglet noises -and at snot bubbles- !

tiddleypompom · 02/02/2012 13:17

Sorry for laughing at snot bubbles by the way - it wasn't in a mean way I promise! I feel dreadful now! Sending get well wishes...

ssmile · 02/02/2012 13:37

feralgirl can u put drops in when he asleep? My SIS had to do this with her boys ear drops as he SO strong.

Brrr -4c on school walk this morn had to defrost my thighs this morn when we got back :) poor baby had long sleeve vest, sleep suit all in one, long sleeve top, snow suit &blanket on and still her hands were cold when we got home. Another snot bubble.blower ere too! She just had 2.5hr nap wow! Her longest yet making up for coughing half the night and hopefully fighting off her cold. My DH working this wend and been out hse 7am-8pm most days this wk so have felt like a solo parent too this wk so my sympathies minkyj

Oooohbig poo just been done by Lo will comeback later

sebs71 · 02/02/2012 16:46

Grin at squealing piglet noises!!!

And, yes, hope all poorly ones get getter, and get rid of those snot bubbles.

Geekmum - we live in a small hamlet in the Clwydian hills in north Wales - it's an old stone cottage, which yes sounds idyllic (and yes, it is lovely and in a lovely spot) but in winter is pretty cold! Stone = cold house!! Actually, in Summer it's cold too!! When we had a hot spell in August (yes, there must have been one?) and I was around 8 to 9 months pregnant everyone was asking how I was coping with the weather - my answer was to put another layer on!!

Went clothes shopping today and ended up getting a couple more leggings and tops for LO instead!!!!!!!!! Haven't been shopping for ages, and have to say wasn't impressed by what's in the shops at the moment. But, was more depressed when I tried on a dress and looked so fat in it :( I must diet better... as OH and step kids are Sunday to Wednesday, I'm going to use it to get back into my diet routine that worked when I was a single lass and lost 3 stone! Then hopefully I can carry on... I so can't be this size when I get married, I'll be hiding from all photos!

Right, thing LO is fed up with playmat... best go amuse her! Keep warm and well everyone (and everyone's LOs and families too :) )

QueenRunningGeekMum · 02/02/2012 20:37

TP - no offence taken, once I stopped being in such a strop I found it funny too!

I keep saying we should move to Wales - could afford sooo much more land and property than here in the SE. It's so hard house hunting to a budget Sad

Just managed to run 20 minutes straight out in subzero temperatures! (-1, not that bad Wink)

Better go, need to get to bed early in preparation for another disrupted night. Sad

100years · 03/02/2012 00:35

Sorry gals. Busy busy busy. Can't reply to individuals.

LO got cold, so having lying flat problems do she's sleeping on me at the moment. Not great for me sleeping even if cuddles are lovely.

Think she's also teething. Quite high demands at the moment from her. Bless her.

AF has returned. SadAngryFFS was a cycle of 16 days Sad and it's heavy as anything. (yep still ebf too) Angry

Car broke down at services this eve, not an error on our part, the battery died during a 5 min stop so had to wait for rac to sort us out.

Looked at Sophie the dog toy in John Lewis yesterday, hmm I'm going to pass just yet, think the squeaking would be too much, babies shouldn't make noise Wink

Right I'm going to attempt putting LO in her cot. This might not go very well.

tiddleypompom · 03/02/2012 08:05

Brrr at little cold hands on formally warm mummy's tummy whilst b/feeding at 5am...

DH cycling into work at moment (sold second car in saving ££ drive to allow me not to go back to work) I felt really sorry for him this morning when he left in freeeeezing temps and I was cuddling scrummy little boy in bed! Oh well tis Friday and he gets cuddles galore over the weekend :)

DS trying to do poo - making v funny noises. Better get him to his changing mat before it all goes off!

Dreaming of stone cottages in the mountains...

QueenRunningGeekMum · 03/02/2012 08:45

100 hope things improve today/tonight.

TP wish we could warm those hands, they're so cold! But mittens get sucked on and end up soaking and still cold.

Gotta go lo has wakened...

sebs71 · 03/02/2012 10:47

YAY...! Grin had good night last night. After LO went down, and woke 15 minutes later, and found OH cuddling her again to sleep, putting her down in the cot and her waking almost straight away, OH was about to pick her up again, when I cracked and so no, we can't keep doing this. Can't keep rocking her to sleep constantly. So, I sat with her for about 45 minutes, just watching her wiggle about in her cot, finally dropping off, waking up, crying, me rubbing her tummy, putting dummy back etc etc... then she finally dropped off herself, and slept from 9ish to 12.15! YAY! Fed, then straight down (YAY) fussed about 3, rubbed tummy, fussed 4.45, rubbed tummy, fussed about 5.45 - put in bouncy chair and slept till 7.30!! YAYAYAY (is that a word?) God knows if we can keep doing this, but going to stick with the getting her to drop off in the crib herself, even if it means sitting with her for hours...

As I have her on my own next week and no fear of waking anyone else up in the house I can really give this a try - I'm not giong to do the controlled crying thing (I couldn't bear listening to her cry and not doing anything) but I will let her fuss and just keep tummy stroking... fingers crossed I get somewhere in a few days.

Right, think I can smell something suspect... best go check!

sebs71 · 03/02/2012 10:49

100 - hope LO feels better...

TP - ooh to freezing colds hands on tummy! And, yes Geekmum, my LO just soaks her mittens too and ends up freezing hands anyway!

tiddleypompom · 03/02/2012 12:45

Yayayay!

Well done sebs - hoping it's the start of things to come!

Back to sitting on the radiator...

feralgirl · 03/02/2012 14:54

Grin at the cold hands. DH was Shock when I described DD's as being "like horrid cold little froggy hands, all clammy and clawy" after she'd pawed my chest during a night feed.

Well done with the self-settling Sebs, you are clearly much more patient than me!

DD was a bit rubbish last night, she woke for three feeds so I coerced her into having a lie in this morning and not getting up until DH had taken DS to nursery.

Sebs my best mate lives in Pantymwyn which I think overlooks the Clwydian Hills. It is the second most beautiful place I've ever been (after Cornwall Wink Grin)

sebs71 · 03/02/2012 15:11

Grin at sitting on the radiator...! That's a good idea...

Put her down for a nap in her cot (aim to gt her used to it for when she goes in there to sleep at around 6 months)... she managed all of 15 minutes nap! Oh well, will keep trying - one nap a day I'll aim to get her sleeping in her cot...

feral - that's about 6 miles from here and you can even get there via one road!!! Grin Small world! Yes, it is a beautiful place. Want to visit Cornwall for a holiday soon - haven't been since I was about 8 years old! (Although used to go out with someone from Woolacombe in N. Devon when I was in Uni, so spent a summer there - was so lovely to live by the seaside!) But Cornwall seems so lovely :)

100years · 03/02/2012 17:27

Wow sebs you're close to one of my best friends too, she's in Mold. When I go see her next perhaps we could co-ordinate a drink/cake somewhere nearby if you'd like. Smile I'm also trying for the putting LO down in the cot in the day, she sleeps in it at night just not generally in the day.

I too get the cold hands on skin, and if I've been bad with cutting nail/filing I also get scratched and frozen. Sad

My oh also cycles to work (when he doesn't wfh) and has loads of cold weather gear.

Well LO managed 1 hr in her cot last night, that's all. Yet when she was on me she seemed to sleep fine. I don't know if I gave up too easy by just having her in bed with me, but it was half 1 and I was shattered and didn't want to hear her crying, I'll be less soft when we're home and she's less snotty. I managed about 5 hrs very light sleep/snoozing last night. Yet I feel quite upbeat and ok about it all. Must be running on adrenaline, weeks of frequent night wakenings and now v v disturbed sleep hasn't yet caught up on me, hoping I can last longer still.

feralgirl · 03/02/2012 20:40

I love Mold. Not only does my best mate live nearby, my mum and dad's best friends live in Runcorn so when we've been to visit we've gone to the theatre and the pub there that does amazing puddings Grin

And I grew up in North Devon, not far from Woolacombe (wouldn't it be weird if I had gone to school with your ex Sebs?!)

Def come on hols to Cornwall, wouldn't it be great for us all to meet in person?

DD kips in our cot at home, I said I was going to try to get her used to sleeping in the living room in her swing chair but she'll usually sleep for a couple of hours in the cot as opposed to 30 mins max with DS running around shouting in the living room. And it makes life so very much easier when they do a lovely long sleep once a day.

sebs71 · 03/02/2012 21:57

Wow mold is my closest town ... And I know which pub you're talking about Grin you'll both have to visit your friends then we can meet up! And then on holiday in cornwall !!

The ex went to ilfracombe school 1983 to 1990... Any good?

It can be such a small world...

Didn't go out tonight in the end... Far too cold... Brrr

Night all... I'm struggling to sleep... Hope it comes soon - she'll be waking for a feed soon...

tiddleypompom · 04/02/2012 07:20

We're going on hols in Cornwall in march to stay in my sil's mums holiday cottage in gorran haven. Why dont you all come too?! :o

Well we were expecting a shocking night, as DS was so off his milk yesterday - took only about half his normal amount and was v fussy and upset. Then threw up an entire 6oz before bed. We put him down expecting him to wake within the hour (previous feed at 2.45pm) and he didn't wake till DH woke him for his dream feed. Then again at 5.50am when I b/f (frog hands). He woke again at 6.45 and here we are downstairs together squawking (new noise). Bizarre. Given he also have increased dribbling, red cheek and hard gums I wonder if a tooth is imminent?

It took 3 days to crack the cot transition by the way - from Moses basket. He is fine now and looks very sweet tucked up in his cot!

Hoping the weather doesn't create too much hassle for any of you and that we may even enjoy our babies first snow!

Happy weekends :)

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 04/02/2012 09:21

A flying visit .... Ds slept 9-7:30 and only woke once Grin

QueenRunningGeekMum · 04/02/2012 09:57

Glad you guys have had better nights, I'm not Envy at all! Wink

Had a bit of a breakdown at 3am, in sobs of tears having a go at lo, DH and the world in general Sad Was just so tired after 5 nights of punctuated sleep. Irony being that ds did sleep better last night apart from the 1:30 and 3am wake ups and if I hadn't been crying I would have caught up on more sleep!

Just think I need a break...

sebs71 · 04/02/2012 10:19

TP and Loves... well done to LO on a good night's sleep!

Geekmum - hugs hugs hugs... I think we're all getting to that stage of needing a break... I'm guessing we don't actually get one till around the time when they go off to Uni...??? Shock Really hope you get some better sleep - a good cry is probably needed to let it all out first...

Why is it one good night (for me, Thursday) is not followed by a second good night?? Mind you, she woke up at 11pm (I was still NOT asleep) after throwing up and her sleepbag was cold and damp, she was really crying her little heart out. Then she decided she was hungry, so had an early feed (for her). Then decided she didn't want the crib at all, so slept with us again. But, on nights when it's -10 outside, I don't blame her or mind... it was nice to have her with us and know that she was snuggly warm. She wanted another feed at 5am - which is very early for her (she's FF) so I am thinking... maybe it's time for the weaning... will try some baby rice tomorrow (we're out today so not a good day to start).

Am, also thinking that as it's just me and LO from tomorrow till Wednesday night, this might be a good time to start weaning anyway.

Well, there's actually NO frost this morning? Although the meteorclock says it's -1. But there's foreboding clouds so I reckon snow this afternoon... we're going out to town/supermarket so it'll be in the landrover to make sure we get back ok! This will be LO's 2nd or 3rd bout of snow I think... the last lot I got stuck in at midnight on my way back from my girly Christmas night out and OH had to rescue me (luckily his parents were staying with us at the time, so LO could stay at home)

TP- we're off to a Haven in Easter - the one in Pwllheli... it'll be me, OH, LO, DSD, DSS and the dog (and the mouse) in one caravan... Joy!! The mouse always travels with us... it's actually 2 years and 1 month old (and they are only supposed to live one year so it's Super Mouse!!!)

But, yes, the thought of all us of holidaying in Cornwall is a nice one!!!

feralgirl · 04/02/2012 11:00

Shock at the OAP mouse; I'm not surprised it goes with you. I wonder if it's a record breaker!

YESYESYES (another one for the dictionary) to needing a break. DD spent half of last night doing this horrid squawky squeaky noise and NOT sleeping Angry She seems to have discovered the upper register for her voice and is taking great delight in emitting constant ear-piercing screams for no apparent reason. I lost the plot and called her all the names under the sun; am I really bad for finding it quite cathartic to swear horribly at my baby? I do it in a lovely sing-song voice so she has no idea what I'm saying to her (I hope).

I so desperately want a night off Sad It is reassuring to know that we're all doing the same things at the same time though. If only I'd realised, Geekmum that you were also weeping at 3am I would have felt a bit of solidarity with you and that would have made me feel better!

Sebs I went to Bideford school a little bit later so wouldn't have crossed paths with your ex unfortunately. That pub does the most amazing sticky toffee pud if I remember correctly.

TP give me a shout if you want to meet up at Easter, Truro is probably about the middle for both of us Smile

ssmile · 04/02/2012 18:15

Maybe Fri was meltdown day. I sat on bed at 6pm cried for 90secs whilst baby screamed in her bouncy chair&4yr old was in the baby singing. Just felt exhausted done every bedtime this week on my own as DH working late and baby wouldnt stop feeding. She had 3tsp of baby rice and both boobs at 5pm! I was rewarded in the end with a better night babe only woke 11pm, 1, 4-5 up 7.30am. This arvo she has had 2big tsp rice, both boobs then hour later 5pm had 3cm bit of banana mashed up with milk, plus both boobs again! One vhungry 23wk baby. Glad I starter weaning she really wolfed down the banana I only stopped as I didn't want to overload her.

Hope we all have more restful Sundays. Fingers Xed my DH won't have to work again tom as none of us have seen him all week :(
