Evening ladies

Giddy - post a pic where??

Cratchit - dd also loves thick cucumber fingers and apple quarters from fridge especially when teething is troubling her - great finger foods to try sometime...and ds lived on corn on the cob (although he was prob nearer 9 months) but these are fab as they don't choke because they can't bite off big bits and is great if teething because it massages all of the gum area - well it does if they have a big mouth like ds - like mother like son Hmmm evening job - not looking forward to prospect so replied to home working advert tonight, bit sceptical, but excited too and nothing ventured nothing gained - beats being an accountant stacking shelves in Tesco's!

Chocolateshoes (Choc for short if that's ok?) welcome to our mad world . Toys.....anything ds has and she doesn't and paper - never mind the peck of dirt they'll eat dd is well on her way to a peck of envelopes - I can't open the post without her managing to secure at least one envelope in her sweaty little clutches

Right had better get ready for work tomorrow, so will catch up with you later, x

sfxmum · 16/01/2006 23:21

hello all
welcome chocolates!toys - dd likes a box of bricks which chimes when brick goes in, but mostly she just wacks it with the stacking cups another of her favourite toys. not to mention paper and anything within reach which she can try and fit in her gob.

no time to catch up badly need bed after trying day and sleepless night. take care all

giddy - to post pic you must sign in, i think right top, password babies the rest think clear, hope it helps

good night all

catch up in morning

Skyler · 17/01/2006 06:07

Hello and welcome to Art (sorry I didn't say it earlier ) and chocolate shoes. My Junie dd2 was born on the 22nd and I think there were at least two others on that day .
Giddy - Sounds heavy going with your brother. Hope you are OK
Tea - Hope the working from home things works out. Better than having to work evenings away from your family if you can help it.
Well dd2 was up every 2 hours last night. Teething AGAIN! Poor her and poor me. I was complaining to dh and he said that at least she doesn't have reflux or colic and isn't a totally clingy baby. She is very easy during the day and very good natured with her big sister so I can't really complain. I should say he was sympathetic to my sleeplessness first so didn't get whacked .
Favourite toys here are a crinkly cloth book and dd1's building blocks. She does also like the Jungle roll around thing I bought her because it was on special offer but I actually think dd1 gets more from it at the moment. We don't have much in the house at the moment as we are in the middle of moving back to the UK from Cyprus. She also LOVES paper of any description (usually eating it if I don't get to her in time) and loves her teether too.
Right dd1 has finished breakfast so I am off to supervise.
Have good days. Bye for now.
P.S. Cratchit - Good on you getting all those prescriptions!!! Hope it helps.

Skyler · 17/01/2006 06:10

Oh and I have to give dd2 something to play with at every nappy time too or her hands are everywhere as she tries to roll off the mat.

chocolateshoes · 17/01/2006 08:52

Mornin'! ds has stated crawling backwards!!! he looks astonished cos he can't understand why he's moving further away from his toys!!! His favourites are a small football, any bits of paper he can grab, and his Dad's hair!

Baby clinic weigh-in this morning...he's been dropping on graph so fingers crossed!

tribpot · 17/01/2006 09:00

welcome Art and chocolateshoes! Another 22nd Junie, so is my ds and Charley's as well as Sky - and mandymac too I think?

Sky - you poor thing, every two hours. Groan.

Cratchit - poor your little ds. I don't know what the doctor suggested but I would cut out dairy rather than wheat. However, if you do cut out wheat, don't give him oats or you will be invalidating your experiment, if you know what I mean. Re: cornflakes, personally I would give organic cornflakes as I would imagine they are lower in salt and things than the Kellogs, although I think Kellogs have been going on recently about how they're cutting down on the additives in their breakie cereal. Hope all your new fab prescriptions help.

My ds had his first taste of bread yesterday - gluten free and cooked by daddy! He thought that was nice to chew on. Tea, I assume the idea with the cucumber and apple is the bits are too large for them to attempt to shove into their mouth so they can gnaw on them instead? After the 'bread' experiment yesterday I am ready to attempt something in the way of finger food.

Fave toys - definitely TV remote, plastic bits which are meant to hold a proper toy on to the side of the cot, wooden train (has figured out how to pull on the string to bring the train towards him!), anything with a teething ring, and anything with a mirror in. And paper!

No teeth, we have sitting, and rolling - annoyingly involving rolling over in the night and then waking up demanding to be turned over despite knowing full well how to do it himself.

Today's new game, a variation on the old favourite "pull Mummy's glasses off". We have had a spate of "pull Mummy's glasses off and hit her round the head with them" but now we favour "pull Mummy's glasses off and throw them away, rendering her virtually blind and unable to move". Had to put him down (carefully) and then feel round the room looking for the bloody things.

2happy - love the idea of you flapping about. We manage 'milk' mainly (due to ds' absence of weaning action) and sing a few songs, like Old McDonald and Three Little Ducks. Look for the little girl doing aeroplane, that's my friend's dd!

giddy - poor you, another week and yet more, as you say, rubbishy grey weather. Winter sucks!

tea - second part-time job? Good god, woman. You will surely be exhausted! Is there no way of doing some accountancy stuff from home? Tax season will shortly be upon us and if I had a tax return to do this year I would willingly give you the bottle of wine I normally need in order to get mine done

Jonah - yay for great bosses, yours sounds fab. My work colleagues are also ultra-sensitive about when they call me, because I work part-time they virtually never want to call in case I am "not working". For heaven's sake, I can take a phone call, and if I can't due to nappy changing/screeching child/whatever, I will not answer the phone. But they all want to make sure they are not intruding on all my fabulous "spare time" I guess!

katz - v interested in your buggy hunt. I would love rearward facing one as I am sure ds doesn't really enjoy being out at the mo, he always sits so quietly and doesn't look around, most unlike his usual self. I would much rather be talking to him. But the Lolla doesn't seem that lightweight to me (I need a lighter one for going on the bus, the Jané is a two-man job) and I wouldn't want to have such an expensive lightweight one cos then I would need another lightweight one for plane travel as I'd worry about that one getting damaged in transit. Ds simply cannot have a different buggy for every mode of transport, it isn't decent Let me know how you get on though.

Have a good day all!

teabelly · 17/01/2006 09:26

Morning ladies

He he he I feel like a naughty schoolgirl...the girlie I'm covering for isn't in yet, nor is anyone else so I'm sneaking on here for a quick chat...

Trib - oh tax returns don't go there - I have enough trouble with my own Actually I wouldn't mind so much but I'm qualified by 20 years experience not paper so I'm not sure people would be happy to pay for that?? I also need to offload the kids to be able to concentrate so would still have childcare costs as mil is fab but not sure she'd take both for a couple of days - heck even dh hasn't had both by himself for more than the odd evening and that's when they're both asleep!!!! The work from home thing sounds interesting. It's basically a pyramid selling and recruiting thing, but hey so's Avon and that's not done so bad. Actually so's betterwear and all that kind of thing too. But this has the potential to cover my monthly shortfall by only doing 1-2hours a day - may all be too good to be true, but what the heck you have to play to win right?

Yup the chunks have to be large enough to hold and not shove in entirety into their mouths - so massive chunks for dd, he he he!

LOL at the 'pulling mummy's glasses off' game, ours do that to daddy - he now has to by the memory frames otherwise he'd be doing a Jack Duckworth and sticking them together all the time

Sky - poor you and dd with the teething and sleeplessness, we have the most awful nappy rash coming again so I guess tooth number three is on it's way!

Choc - he he he at ds's crawling backwards, dd does this too - mind you as we have a wooden floor it may be some time before she manages to go anywhere but backwards

Uh oh car pulling up - I'll be back

katzg · 17/01/2006 10:47

'ello

trib - my buggy search has lead me to the hauck i'coo inifinity - which looks quite cool, although i've not been and played with it yet, Toysrus sell it but i'm hoping to get a mucher cheaper one from Ebay!

a very sleepy and tired good morning to you all

skyler am in the same boat but wiht no teeth to show for it yetstill i count my blessings in my more awake moments

jonah - good result on prescriptions, hope you get it sorted out.

chocolates - good going on crawling! soon be forward no doubt, its pretty funny anyway.

tea - really hope you find a job that suits you, evening sounds tough going really.

trib - my dd is also very adept and grabbing our glasses and throwing them, perhaps as an early revolt on her almost inevitable fate as a specs wearer.

2happy - glad you had a nice weekend, i miss proper walking and most of all running, my plan was to do it early in the morning but frankly not with as little sleep as i have been getting lately.

katz - that buggy sounds good, i am looking for a lightweight stroller that folds easily.
at the moment dd is not enjoying her buggy, i think she feels cut out from us and gets bored in shops.

giddy - the situation with your brother sounds difficult. i think when something big happens in childhood and you go through it together, it is almost inevitable that you go back together to work it out. problem is people work through their problems at different stages. i imagine its hard when you are trying to move on and keep being pulled back because he is having a difficult time. please take care of yourself.

Skyler · 17/01/2006 12:03

We have a Maclaren Quest which is great for the car and fairly lightweight. At the moment I am having to use my Maclaren double buggy and I am missing my Silver cross so much as I can't hear what dd1 is saying to me and I can't see dd2. I hate it. I want to see my babies. I miss them.

katzg · 17/01/2006 12:13

this is what i would like, but i need to check on the size of it. it needs to not be bigger than my mamas and papas 2 in 1 or else DH won't let me buy it

OP posts:
sfxmum · 17/01/2006 12:22

was looking at price new and cant justify it. i like the idea of rear facing pushchair so i can keep talking to dd. these days we end most of our outings with dd crying and me carrying her.
i like my M&P great as pram. maybe better when weather better and cover not needed

mandymac · 17/01/2006 12:56

Hello Junies

I'm on my day off from work, so trying to find the time for a catch-up. Honestly, being at home with dd is much harder work than 'work' if you know what I mean! I feel like I need to rush around doing washing, cooking etc instead of just enjoying having a day with her.

Welcome to Art and Chocolateshoes. DD was a 22nd Junie too!

Giddy hope things are going OK with DH working away.

2happy - I really want to try the baby signing, but no classes are local to me on my day off. However DH is mentoring a deaf girl at work, so is looking at learning British Sign Language (i think), so if he does, I will get him to teach dd. At the moment he only knows signs for things like 'franking machine' and 'scanner', which I can't see being much use to me .

Cratchit - Hope all the lotions and potions help with the excema.

Tea - Good luck with looking for extra work. We have the same problem as you with the post. What is it with babies and paper? DD and I both love books but for very different reasons! .

Skyler - Whens the move? Must be difficult surviving with half your stuff gone.

Trib - I haven't had my glasses knicked yet, but my earings are a differnt matter - not quite as vital as glasses though.

Katz - posted on your buggy hunt thread, as I have the loola. It isn't light, I can go on the bus with it, but its a bus you can wheel buggies onto. No chance if you needed to fold and carry it. I need 2 hands to get it in the boot. I'm kind of glad we bought it though, and I do agree about having them facing you - I would really miss dd on our trips if I couldn't chat to her.

SFX - Still no teeth here either, which I am counting as a blessing (especially as I am still breastfeeding). I didn't get any till I was about one apparently.

Well I am very impressed with everyones mobile babies. DD is just about sitting (with the occasional wobble), but still gets the hump if we leave her too long on her front, so I don't know how she is going to learn to crawl.

Hi EYM - hope your birthday was good!

Have good weeks Juniesxxx

Oh giddy - you've made me cry and at my new job too - good job they've all buggered off for the evening!

Can't imagine what you went through as a child, but you are the strongest person on here I know sweetheart.

  1. vent vent vent away
  2. you were a child, she was as wicked as him to turn a blind eye and I wouldn't want to see her either - I couldn't turn a blind eye if that happened to my children - once is once too often, I'd be outa there after I killed the bastard
  3. you are a brilliant mum, and don't you dare go thinking otherwise
  4. and you're amazing to not have had a crafty fag - I know I'd have had one with that stress so well done you

Right I'm off to find a tissue before my nose runs all over the keyboard you go and have some chocolate - if I had any I'd have some in your honour xxx

tribpot · 17/01/2006 17:35

Ohh, giddy, tea has said everything I was going to, well done tea! You are doing a fantastic job and no-one worthy of the title mother would do what your mother did and allowed to happen. You are absolutely right to want her out of your life completely and your brother must understand and respect that.

I've got some Giant Chocolate Buttons in the living room, I shall have one in your honour in just a moment.

You feel free to post on here about stuff like this, it's a place for all kind of chat. xxx

sfxmum · 17/01/2006 18:04

oh giddy family!
really the thing is giving birth does not make a person a mother. toxic people should be excluded from your life. you need to take good care of your heart.
and you are a proper mum worthy of the name, banish the poison from your life and make no apologies for it.
sream shout and have some chocolate and be sure you are stronger and better than all of this.
take care

JonahB · 17/01/2006 18:58

Everyone has said all the things i could possibly say Giddy, but in your honour, as i've got no choc in the house (desparately trying to lose the flab) I'll have a big can of beer. Cos that doesn't have any calories cos its a liquid.

Vent away whenever you need to....
