Hi All, I thought I'd start a new 2006 thread for the October 2004 Mummies and Babies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
biglips · 07/03/2006 14:33

i never let baba sleep pass 4pm so i can get in her bed at 7 - 8

maisiemog · 07/03/2006 14:33

So there you go 14 hours a day for BabyGeog. That's a big old 12 hours he does there. Grin

baba plays happily in her cot till i wake up as i never give in.

geogteach · 07/03/2006 20:02

I'm enjoying it while it lasts, both the older 2 stopped daytime naps before the age of 2 - thats when the hard work begins Wink

maisiemog · 07/03/2006 20:24

I've been reading about people who have 2.5 year olds who won't nap, but the mums think they should.
Today I have put Alf to bed at 8, so hopefully he will stay in bed tomorrow morning, until 7.
He napped from around 11:00am until just after 2:00pm, to make up for waking up so early. Grrrr!
I'm not a heavy sleeper, so I always wake up when Alfie's jumping around.
I took Alfie out to a big Asda for a shop today, and he was a bit of a handful. I kept giving him packets to chew and finally he got hold of a dried apricot and tried to swallow it, then projectile vomited all over himself - I thought he had gone a bit quiet. Blush
What a stink though! His coat is a stupid (but really cute) wool duffle coat, that is dry clean only - we'll see about that! Grin
Oh he is getting the hang of the potty. Two peeps today. And the most amazing thing was, I thought he might need a pee as he seemed a bit restless, so I said, 'Do you want the potty?' and he immediately sat on the potty, for about 2 minutes then got up, and there was a poop.
It's gross I know, but I was quite impressed.

KathH · 07/03/2006 20:59

See, am so not going to join in I've said it twice. Well done Alfie on the poopy front. Whatever happened to the young sophiscated thing that said she would never use words like poopy or dodo?

KathH · 07/03/2006 21:00

or winkie?

maisiemog · 07/03/2006 22:23

Oh go on Kath! Go on!
I don't remember saying winkie??Shock
I say peepee (dp says it and I think it's funny)
It's these babies, I said I would never talk about these things and then I met Alfie and Moley (well by reputation at least) and it all went out the window.
I expect you are tucked up in bed by now. Smile
There was something about dodo, what was that??

biglips · 08/03/2006 08:51

well done to maisies baba!!! (a big clap)

biglips · 08/03/2006 08:54

baba was at the day nursery yesterday and she painted for the first time - (everyone now say) AAAAAWWWWWWWWWWW!!!... she loves it and next week it will be glitter ans tissue paper drawings - AAAAAWWWWWWWW!!!.. (not sure how she will reacted as she goes all weird of anything is stuck on her hand eg chocolate, sand, snow.... hope she gets used to it

maisiemog · 08/03/2006 11:11

Babies painting, that's so cute. That's a memorable moment, I hope you have the lovely picture on the wall now, to show her when she is a teenager, or when she brings her first boyfriend home. Grin
I like the painting being at nursery rather than home, much less messy. Grin
It's quite messy this potty business as well though, you need a spray bottle and cloth to hand. Alfie was a bit reticent about peeping on the potty this morning and he did a bit on the floor first, then I sat him down, but boys can peep in the air too, so it kind of went half in the potty and half on the rug. Shock

OP posts:
KathH · 08/03/2006 19:09

dodo = dummy

maisiemog · 08/03/2006 20:36

Aah! I see!
Alfie doesn't do dummies. I tried to get him to take one when he was a few months old, because he was a miserable little critter, but he just spat it out. I had a dummy when I was little, so I was quite pro dummy, but he just wasn't sucky.
He's turned out to be very chewy though. Shock

cazzy - so sorry about you're news. hope the hen night goes well.

maisie - Isla loves books. Any book or magazine will do and she loves proudly telling anyone who can hear what things are called in the book. If she doesnt know she makes up a word and repeats it until she gets bored of hearing the sound

Took Isla to hv and was told it wasn't exczema - just really dry skin. Got through a couple pots of e45 cream which seems to be helping. I still think it looks like exczema. I get it on tops of my arms and looks identical

She sleeps 7:30pm to 6:30am (can sometimes get her to go back to sleep for another 30 mins but thats rare. She has one nap in the afternoon - usually 1-2pm after lunch

Isla's picked up boobies from somewhere Shock and points men and women's chest when she says it - even her own

I've got about 6 pics on the fridge that babs has painted or scribbled at nursery. she always points proudly and says "mine"!

IslaAndMomma · 08/03/2006 21:06

can you guys tell me if you think this seems early for lunch...

i asked at her nursery what time they do tea and was quite surprised to learn that they eat at 3pm. she only does one full day there (wednesdays) and it does explain why she is so unsettled in the evening. i always assumed they must feed her 4:30-5pm. I pick her up at 5:30pm so i dont really understand why they're fed so early. lunch time is 11:30-12:00, which again now explains why she often leaves a lot of her tea.

i dont really know what to do though. if i ask for her to be fed later i dont know how they'll react and she'll prolly miss out on the group activites. just seems a bit odd to me.

she had a weetabix when we got home tonight and a big cup of milk and went out like a light - maybe just need to work with it and make sure she has supper on a wednesday evening??

IslaAndMomma · 08/03/2006 21:07

"can you guys tell me if you think this seems early for lunch..."

oops i meant tea sorry

IslaAndMomma · 08/03/2006 21:20

i might rename the thread the "Isla's mum's verbal diarrhea thread"

just wanted to add that i've posted a couple of recent pics of babs

maisiemog · 08/03/2006 21:21

I think that's early. Alfie often has his lunch at 3. He is napping from 11 to 2 at the moment (today 10:30 to about 1:45, so he ends up eating quite late.
I think what you are doing is the best thing, offering her something to eat later, and if she is hungry she will take it. It's only one day, so I don't know if it's worth getting them to feed her earlier and then have her miss out on playing or whatever. If it were for more days, it might be worth saying something.
As long as she can have some toast or cereal later she should be ok.
She sounds very chatty. It reminds me of a story my mum told me. I didn't get taught to read at school until I was 6 because they thought I could already read: apparently I would sit with books and look as if I was reading the story, but I was actually making it up.Grin

maisiemog · 08/03/2006 21:23

Heehee! She is very cute, peeking through the bars.
Does she look like you?

OP posts:
maisiemog · 08/03/2006 21:25

I meant to say, Cazzy, are you feeling any better now???
Has the hennight passed yet?
Have you sorted out the bf thing yet - with the honeymoon? How lovely to get away somewhere warm, unless you are going to Iceland of course. Grin

OP posts:
IslaAndMomma · 09/03/2006 08:48

yeah she looks a lot like me (looks like daddy when she pulls grumpy/frowny faces!). some of my baby pics are identical to some we've taken of isla - and my mum's baby pics look very similar too! its quite nice to see Smile

i think you're right about the nursery. she's always really happy and very chatty when i pick her up. she's just a bit fretty in the evening - i used to think it was because she was getting overtired and was trying an earlier bedtime - but now i know its probably hunger we can make it easier. after her weetabix and milk last night, we didnt hear a peep until 8:30 this morning! which is a very long lie in for her!! was just a shame i had to get up to crack on with work.

maisiemog · 09/03/2006 10:42

Lucky you and Isla!! Smile Getting a lie-in, we're still on the old 6am rise and shine. Wah!
I'm working from 1 so Alfie has gone back to bed, whilst I do stuff in the house, working until 9pm so will be super-tired tonight. ZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
It must be nice to have a baby that looks like you. Since Alfie was born people always tell me how much he looks like his daddy. DP keeps reassuring me that he does look like me as well (in case I think he's someone else's baby Grin).
I think it's because he has fair hair and my hair's nearly black. It's not so bad now because people stop bothering about who babies resemble once they reach about 12 months, I suppose they start to look like themselves a lot more.
Alfie is such a little boy now, he's not really a baby anymore.
