Hi All, I thought I'd start a new 2006 thread for the October 2004 Mummies and Babies.

OP posts:

biglips · 10/02/2006 17:37

plenty of kissies to baba 2nite and her big sister is coming 2nite too so at least she be ok

maisiemog · 10/02/2006 23:14

Poor baba, I hope her squashed face is feeling better soon. Maybe some more mud?
Alfie keeps telling me about his teeth, has a big red face and a sore bum.
Today I had to chase him up and down the hall, he thought it was hilarious.

Oh, and we got two memory foam pillows with the new mattress, which are normally £40 each. Last night when I was at work DP said Alfie was wailing and not settling at all, so he went in to investigate.
Alfie was mid chomp on my pillow!! He had ripped lots of bits of foam out of the pillow end with his teeth. Grrr! I keep finding bits of foam on the carpet, each one worth 10p, wait till he is old enough for a paper round, I'll be demanding new pillows.

Hi Rickman, I'm laughing at your ds's antics, they sounds strangely familiar.
It's amazing how much damage they can do in just a couple of minutes isn't it?
This morning I thought Ied th would have a shot at the potty with Alfie, because I knew he always pooped after brek. Harhar, he did a peep in the potty, but that was all, eventually he did a poo on the kitchen floor. So held him over the loo and he did another poop, so I'm thinking that's it.
NO! He ran into the sitting room, I followed him and then he ran back into the bathroom, one minute later followed by me. He had chucked his toy, the loo roll and flannel down the loo and done another poo on the floor.
I'm well impressed by the self-feeding, I'm a cowardly custard and I just give Alfie the spoon when I've put the food on - to minimise the damage.
I'm sorry to hear you're still having trouble with your ex. What happened about the visitation rights? I remember you saying you were going to have to hand over your ds at the end of last year.
We are co-sleeping as well and bfing. It seems to fluctuate for us, he has bad times which can last over a week, then he goes back to normal, just when I can't take any more. We've just bought a bigger bed, so I guess that we've made a commitment now to co-sleeping. When Alfie's teething or not well he insists on bfing all the time, until I just turn my back and let him wail for 5 minutes, he normally gives up eventually and falls asleep, unless there is something wrong.
I saw a site where they talked about night-weaning, but I don't feel badly enough to actually do that yet.Maybe later on?

Hello, ds has his mmr on monday as well as the second jab of his peumonia. Hope he is not going to suffer too much. He normally cries for a minute then stops which is good, dp is coming with me too for the first time out of all his jabs!!!

maisiemog · 11/02/2006 23:13

Ah poor Tobes, getting jabbed!
Who's going to hold him?
When DP and I went for the 3 session jabs we took it in turns. I think it's better to be the one who puts the baby on their knee, so you don't have to look them in the eye when the nasty lady stabs them. WAH!
It made me feel like crying too.
I hope that jab helps to ward off some of the chest infections. Did he get a flu jab, or is he too little?
Get the Medised ready!

Rickman - Great to hear from you again, but sorry to hear your ex-dp is being such a git.
I think I´d be going insane if ds was keeping me up for 3 hours in the night. I don´t really know what to suggest. Do you want to carry on co-sleeping? Does he sleep in his cot for naps? I had a friend in a similar situation and she decided to move the cot into her bedroom and although her dd still woke up and fed it was then easier to ignore her when she was back in her cot rather than climbing all over my friend. It took a while, but the sleeping did improve eventually.
My ds loves his food aswell. Unfortunately at the moment he seems to think everything is finger food including ready brek, yoghurt etc. Hopefully it´s just a phase.

maisiemog - sounds like fun (not). Ds loves flushing the toilet, but hasn´t yet realised he can throw things down it, although I´m sure it´s only a matter of time.

jbadgirl · 13/02/2006 12:31

all went really well with the jabs, he barely even whimpered!!! ds has had the flu jab and now the 2nd half of pneumonia one. Didnt stop him from getting it a few weeks ago though! oh well. have one of the snowdrop trut nurses coming round today to talk about if/what they can help us with at home for ds.

jbadgirl · 13/02/2006 12:32

*trust (spelling is awful!)

hotmama · 13/02/2006 15:12

Haven't read all the posts since last time I posted - been a bit busy!

Done a birth announcement - but crap at doing links.

Evie Harriet was eventually born at 10.06 a.m. on Friday 10th Feb and weighed 9lb (sshhh she is sleeping) xx

jbadgirl · 13/02/2006 15:24

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS HOTMAMA!!!!

Well done, 9lb thats a great size.

Riebee · 13/02/2006 15:55

Hotmama....Fantastic news . The chimpster was going to be named Evangeline if a girlie.

Rickman...your nights sound like mine. Chimpster does sleep but wakes up every couple of hours for a b/f. The best he does is four hours when he first goes to bed. I am at the point when I know I've got to get tough for sanity sake but I'm sooooo v v tired and the willpower is just not there in the cold wee hours!

The mmr seemed to go ok just a bit of crying but soon perked up.

huppa · 13/02/2006 17:13

Congratulations
Have just read you´re birth announcment and can´t believe you´re home so quickly. It sounds like a nightmare, but hope you´re feeling o.k. now.
Lovely name by the way.

KathH · 13/02/2006 17:15

Congrats!

biglips · 13/02/2006 17:56

CONGRATS XXXXXX

ive done it for you Hotmama - xx

maisiemog · 13/02/2006 19:45

CONGRATULATIONS HOTMAMA AND EVIE!!!!
I feel like crying, that's so lovely you have another little girl.
I read the delivery details, these things don't ever seem to go to plan. I'm sorry to hear you lost all that blood, do you need to take iron to get your haemaglobing levels up again?
Poor boobs, ouch! Those babies are little so and sos.
I know you can do it, you have all the information this time.
Don't let her stay on if it hurts (beyond the initial let-down), just take her off and start again. It's not worth the pain at the next feed. (I've been there)
Did your milk come in yet?
Take it easy, you deserve it! (if you can )

IslaAndMomma · 13/02/2006 19:51

"Hemoglobin or haemoglobin (frequently abbreviated as Hb) is the iron-containing oxygen-transport metalloprotein in the red cells of the blood in mammals and other animals. Hemoglobin transports oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body, such as to the muscles, where it releases the oxygen load.

The name hemoglobin is the concatenation of heme and globin, reflecting the fact that each subunit of hemoglobin is a globular protein with an embedded heme (or haem) group; each heme group contains an iron atom, and this is responsible for the binding of oxygen. The most common types of hemoglobin contains four such subunits.

Mutations in the gene for the haemoglobin protein result in a group of hereditary diseases termed the hemoglobinopathies, the most common members of which are sickle-cell disease and thalassemia."

IslaAndMomma · 13/02/2006 20:01

dd has started getting very possessive of me just lately - particularly where dp is involved. we were hugging the other day and her reaction really startled both of us. she slapped dp on the face, shouted "no!" and tried to scratch him.

i was a bit unsure what to do. so i dont know if this was right but i put her down on the floor and told her "no!". after about 30 mins when she had settled down and was playing nicely, i picked her up and gave her a hug. then dp gave her a hug and then we had a group hug ...

i've added a thread hoping someone has some advice!?

maisiemog · 13/02/2006 20:33

Yes Alfie is a bit 'my mummy' although he can't actually say 'my mummy' just mumum. But he wails when I leave the room even if he is sitting on dp's lap.
Thanks for the detailed description of haemaglobin, I kind of meant that I had spelt it wrong. But it never hurts to have a bit of extra info.
That reminds me of denghi (dengue?) fever, someone helped me with that as well. Who was that?

OP posts:
maisiemog · 13/02/2006 20:34

He hasn't actually scratched him though. It's a bit tricky, I think you did the right thing by putting her down.
