Have a fab day wss! Sorry things are bleurgh with dh though :(

lol - we're 6 years in cake so he's forgotten about his previous lifestyle I think! He always jokes that I'm a 'feeder' so I might give him a stark reminder one of these days by reminding him of how he used to live Wink

If he ever turned round and said 'make me a cup of tea' he would soon regret it but the reality is I get up with E at 7am(ish) and come down and sort him out (take off pull ups/give him fruit/a drink if he wants one) and I always need a cup of tea when I get up. I make two cups and leave his downstairs for when he's out the shower and ready for work (I like a hot cup of tea but he is happy to drink it cool - yuk) And since I am pottering in the kitchen for the boys I slice some bread for him and stick it in the toaster then when I hear him coming down the stairs I put the toaster on. I feel like sound like a bit of a mug but it's really not much effort.

However on a weekend it wouldn't kill him to make his own toast

Chulita · 18/11/2011 21:36

mlisc I'm the same re tea/brekkie, if I'm up before him I'll make him a brew at the same time as mine (I take his upstairs though and leave it in the bathroom) and if I'm making porridge I'll make double, no extra effort really.
I was going to ask you last week if E was still in pull-ups, you just answered my question :)

I'd love to get a dishwasher, I should get working on DH really. His mum is one of those cook/serve/wash-up people so nothing ever sits around in their house. On the flip side, she cooks ready meals/chicken tonight type stuff so there's not that much prep mess whereas I cook everything fresh so there's quite a bit more. I do all the cooking but also most of the washing up so really I should have a say in whether we have a dishwasher but every time I bring it up he says "it doesn't take that long to bash the dishes out and dishwashers make people lazy" hmm...well, he doesn't 'bash the dishes out' as often as he thinks, and I'm already lazy so arguments down the plughole really. I should've spent the fortune on a washer instead of a KitchenAid I suppose.
Funny though cos I'd quite happily never use the tumble dryer but he wants all his clothes tumbled...

Chulita · 18/11/2011 21:39

Aaaaahhhhh!!! You won't believe this, I just logged into facebook and my sil's status is: "Dishwashers are just the best invention ever"
Fate? I rather think so...mentioned it to DH and he said "we're not getting one, they're just lazy" says he playing Battlefield 3 with his feet up.

viksam · 18/11/2011 21:48

Cheeky MF chu id batter him if he was mine! They really are not that expensive and they are NOT for lazy people they are for people that have better things to do with their time than to stand at the bloody kitchen sink, we only have one coz it was in the house when we brought it but it broke so we replaced it within 24 hrs!!! Need it man!!! also need my tumble dryer, sad but true!!
Bed time for me, big long day tomorrow and an early start for a horrid 3hr journey to brum, hope D copes as he will be awake all the way and is usually fast asleep as we go in the evening.
Catch you all after the weekend, have a good one everybody!
xx

Chulita · 18/11/2011 22:06

Goodnight viks, fingers crossed D sleeps for you!

Come and help on my dishwasher thread.

I'm off to bed, S has already woken once so let's hope that was it [delusional]

Chulita · 18/11/2011 22:06

Happy birthday for tomorrow dylthan!

DesperateHousewife21 · 19/11/2011 07:53

I second (or is that fifth!) a dishwasher. Mine is narrower than standard because it was built for a 2 bed flat not a family of 3/4.

Do you think we'd get on with each others dh/p after the amount of bad habits and snide remarks we all know about?

D still has a bad cough which is waking him up, coughs just seem to go on and on forever!

Chulita · 19/11/2011 08:35

I was wondering that dh although it's easy to only post on here when you're irritated. No one's going to come on here and wax lyrical about how fantastic their H is and how much they're in love etc. On the dishwasher thread people were commenting on my DH's laziness but really he's not lazy at all, he's just got a thing against dishwashers. It's true when I say I do more than half of the washing up but he does most of the laundry inc folding which I find soooo boring!

Great night here, didn't get out of bed til 7.30 and that was because L wouldn't shut up wittering away in my ear. DH is having his lie-in this morning so looking good for a chilled out Sunday for me!

Dylthan · 19/11/2011 09:09

Rough age: 15.5 months

Plays with ball yes

Uses three words regularly (not three words in a sentence!) yes

Use six words regularly she can say shoes, mamma, daddy, Dylan, Lola, grandad, doggy, chicken, juice, no. She just seems to be absorbing words daily at the moment.

Speaks clearly some words are clearer than others. Me, dh, Dylan and my mum and granny know what she's saying but I doubt she'd be understood very well by anyone that doesn't see her very often.

Scribbles with a crayon yes

Walks yes

Walks backward yes

Runs oh yes.

Adopts "no" as his favorite word no is becoming more frequent but shoes is her favourite word

"Helps" around the house yes she loves sweeping up with the big brush and gets angry if I take it off her.

Puts his fingers to his mouth and says "shhh" no

Turns the pages of a book give her a book and she'll sit for ages turning the pages and looking at each page you would honestly think she was actually reading it.

Has temper tantrums when frustrated all the time.

Becomes attached to a soft toy or other object yes at the moment it's keno (named by D) a black lab soft toy.

Discovers the joy of climbing she does climb but not anything like her brother did/does which is good because I don't think I could handle two climbers.

Stacks three blocks not really I think she takes more delight in knocking down the carefully stacked creations that D makes.

Uses spoon or fork yes

Learns the correct way to use common objects (e.g., the telephone) yes

Takes off one piece of clothing by himself yes and she even tries to dress herself now she can get her shoes and trousers on by herself but not her tops although she gives it a good go. I caught her trying to dress D yesterday morning he was not impressed :o

Only has one nap (what time and how long?) she still had 2 for me but I think that's because I have to wake her from her morning one to pick up D from nursery. For me she naps from about 10:00 till 11:00 and then about 2:30 until 4:00 but for the grannys she sales about 10:00 until 12:30

Enjoys pretend games yes

Likes riding toys yes she's finally able to reach the floor when she's on her wheely bug and she loves whizzing around.

Feeds doll she dosn't have a doll of her own yet (that's what Santa's bringing Wink ) but when she does have a doll she dosn't try and feed it but she will put it over her shoulder and pat its back while saying aaah it's very sweet.

Throws a ball underhand yes

Dances to music she loves music and will dance to it quite happily.

Sorts toys by color, shape, or size no

Kicks ball forward only accidentally if she's running to get a ball and her foot touches it before she can grab it. Other wise she dosn't intentionally kick a ball.

Dylthan · 19/11/2011 09:10

Thanks chuilita :o

CakeandRoses · 19/11/2011 09:27

happy birthday dylthan!! hope you end up doing something fun (not mcdonalds!)

yy, i wonder that too dh!

chul the 'lazy' comments were inevitable given your dh had suggested they make people lazy and most people have a dishwasher and don't consider themselves lazy Smile

and that's proper aibu by stealth introducing the laundry clause now Grin

dh just taken F out for brekkie, leaving A here for a change as she's a bit emotional with her teeth at the mo. best get downstairs for our breakfast - croissants - yay!

oh which reminds me - i'm def a proper lazy arse compared to chul and mlic, far be it from me being downstairs making everyone breakfast and tea at 7am - i barely leave my bed til 9am on non-work days Grin

DesperateHousewife21 · 19/11/2011 10:17

Maybe we should all say what's great about our dh/p's then! I'm still a newlywed so I'm totally and utterly in love Grin even though D can be a bit of a passion killer lol.

CakeandRoses · 19/11/2011 10:53

aw, you old softie dh [finger down throat emoticon] Wink

no, seriously, it is nice to hear - we do rather focus on the negatives about our DHs on here!

we've been together for 5 years now (married for 2) and if anything, i'm more in love with him now than in the early, sexed-up honeymoon phase.

As if to prove why - he's just come back from taking F for breakfast, walked in looking v sexy, holding my regular Saturday flowers and a little book each for F & A

DesperateHousewife21 · 19/11/2011 10:59

Aw that is nice cake husbands are great- most of the time! Grin

Chulita · 19/11/2011 12:37

I don't reckon it is drip feeding, I never said he was lazy and didn't help around the house, I was just referring to the washing up Grin

Tbh DH and I are pretty much joined at the hip, we don't do much without the other one and if we do we usually spend a bit of the time thinking how much more fun it would be if the other was there too. I think the tiny little 'argh!' moments you get that you don't really register get posted on anyway just for something to say and that's the only picture you get of someone else's DP/H.

The thing I fell in love with DH for was his chuckle, he's a proper loon and can be very silly. I'm pretty demanding and he indulges me, he makes me feel sexy and loved, he enjoys my cooking :) and I wouldn't change anything about him.

CakeandRoses · 19/11/2011 13:06

yy to the demanding thing chul - for me i mean, not you!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 19/11/2011 14:38

Happy birthday dylth :)

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 19/11/2011 15:20

We've been together for 6 years, married for 5 (next Saturday) and he is my rock. Yeah ok he isn't as hands on with the kids as I would have hoped pre-kids, but he makes me (and the boys no doubt) feel very safe and loved. I aleays joke that he's my own personal super-hero that has let himself go a bit as I always feel safe and looked after.

Chulita · 19/11/2011 16:45

Grin your own Mr Incredible mlisc

Mind you cake, I think I'm demanding and then I see some of my friends and think "man alive, DH has it eeeeasy!"

I just found out that DH has never heard of Hamleys. Bearing in mind we used to live in St Albans, that is a sad, sad fact. His parents weren't big on toys/playing at all whereas my dad still buys us toys for Christmas - but then I loved my childhood and he really didn't Sad I find that so sad.

Aaaaand, I went for a nap and came back to find dishwasher reviews up on my laptop Grin Trouble is DH doesn't do, "ok we'll just get one and see" he's more the "if it's worth getting one it's worth getting the best" type of person.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 19/11/2011 17:41

Hey don't knock it chul, I assume that means he's agreed to it? Yaaaaaay!

WhatSheSaid · 19/11/2011 18:35

Ooh, I've read Miele and Asko and Bosch are the best dishwasher brands in a consumer review thing chul Wink. They cost a bit more but last really well apparently.

My head hurts, I have had 5 hours sleep, went to see a band in a pub last night, it was great! Tired but worth it.

CakeandRoses · 19/11/2011 19:01

no - i'm the one that dh's mates use as the example of high maintenance/demanding vik so i think i must be Grin

yay chul!! i second bosch and miele - we went for the former as they're a reasonable price and will last for years, miele are ridiculous money but will last 20 years+ but is that really necessary?

Chulita · 19/11/2011 19:18

He's looking at Miele, I just don't want him thinking they're so expensive and not getting one but yea, he's come round to the idea without sexual favours as someone suggested

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 19/11/2011 19:18

Yeah I have Hotpoint everything and it's certainly not what I'd buy again given a second chance.

I'm on my 2nd glass of wine before I even go out [living dangerously emoticon] I'm on a mission to find a bit of 'me' again - out tonight with old work friends, next Saturday with dh for a romantic anniversary meal and drinks with our friends haha and the Thursday after that with a friend for a curry. Then the week after that we're on holiday and the day after we get back we're off to see a local band in town!

Who do I think I am hey Grin

DesperateHousewife21 · 19/11/2011 19:49

Wow mlisc what a busy schedule! The more time out being 'you' again though the better I think.

D went down with no fuss at all, only had to sshh him, no stroking at all! He's still got the blasted cough and only realised today that calcough is a mild laxative. Great.
