Here we go, was going to write something lovely and meaningful, but I'm not very good at it so I'll leave that to someone else.....

Evening all.

REALLY, REALLY bad Mummy moment today. Had to do a trip to the naughty step with Tessa (for trying to stroke her brother's head with her feet!!), dumped Ash on the sofa and came back to find him face down on the floor
Still not sure how he rolled off as I thought I had put him right at the back. Luckily he was fine, only a little cry not the really big 'something HURTS' one but I was distraught. Thankfully DH was working at home and picked us all up and hugged us better
BAM - 10 years older you say, I'm not even going to think about going there but there are a few more grey hairs after today!!!

BoB - that is too cute!

Anyone else getting the little shadow of baby hair on the sheet in the morning? He's got lots anyway but it looks as though it will be divided in two the way we are going- top half and bottom half with a baldy line all the way round

Right, better go and get some sleep as have to get up for 2nd day at pre-school. Someone is VERY excited, I'm just daunted at the prospect of getting us out of the house in time!!
Night night

Karmamother · 19/01/2006 00:17

OMG! Far too many posts to catch up on. I've skimmed through as many as I can & here goes....

Welcome to mummypinny. We love reading about twins & the extra joy they bring.
Good to hear from Beartime again. Glad all is well.

Enthusia, really pleased Sam is well & you feel better about the feeding. It's funny but, at my postnatal group we have a mixed bag. 2 are BFers, 2 are bottle feeders & 1 is mixed feeding her twins. There doesn't seem to be any issue about feeding at all. Maybe we're all lucky. You are doing the right thing & sod anyone who thinks otherwise. Feeding is only one aspect of parenting, not the be all & end all. Your parenting skills are right on the money, IMO.

Tessasmum, poor Ash!! They are fairly resilient, thank God. As for the expressing, I'm only sporadically expressing in the mornings only. Evenings are a waste of time. I keep meaning to start a thread asking Tiktok for some info on why this happens. I had to express in the middle of the night last night as I had one huge breast & one absolutely f*ing enormous one, from the extra demands of the expressing. She has been waking regularly for a feed at 3 so I've started waking up then. I woke up at 3 with a soaking wet bed, nightie & bra. She showed no signs of waking so I nipped down & expressed 2oz off. She fed 30 mins later & it was bliss. Will give expressing a rest as I don't want to overstimulate my supply.

BoB, Oskar is absolutely gorgeous. But you knew that already.

Chacha, glad Z's weight is on the up. You must be sooo relieved. And his sleeping sounds marvellous too. I'm a bit !!!

Londoner, good to hear the op went fine. I assume she had a general anaesthetic? Were you ok when she went to sleep? Always the hardest part.

Nova, good to read the childminder went well. It's a turning point when you do this & just think of all the things you can do now without taking that bugaboo with you.

Hi to everyone else that I've not mentioned. Oh, & good to hear from Kristina too.

Ella gets her first jabs on Friday so wish us well. Got the Calpol ready in anticipation....
Off to bed now. Had a lovely nap with her this afternoon so I have had a bit of energy for MN!

Karma & Ella, 8wks.

babyonboard · 19/01/2006 09:30

nova- im looking into childminders too, even if only for a chance to go to the cinema or do some desperatly needed clothes shopping, bet its odd the first time though

Diege · 19/01/2006 09:40

Morning everyone! Had quite a good one last night, with Libbs going from 11 to 5.45, so feeling refreshed and raring to attack the ironing pile (though sadly not the fitness dvd!). I fed her at 6, thinking, my god she must be starving , but she just played with teat, moving it around with her tongue, and then gave me a big gappy smile as if to say, 'ha, got ya..'. Think she's actually ready to drop the night feed if she wakes again though will reduce it gradually rather than cutting it out altogether! (read somewhere that once they reach 121bs they are physiologically ready to go through the night, though some do before, some not till 6 months, but apparently 'going through' is classed as a 5 hour stretch! Not my idea of a full night's sleep! .
Mummypinny (can I shorten to pinny? - 'mummy' seems really strange! ) - I love your twins' names, esp Fern which is so pretty. Feel for you with one waking the other, must be a nightmare. Have the same thing from time to time with dd2 who is 3 waking the baby and vice versa; luckily, dd1 sleeps through it all, though says in the morning that she heard it all! Can feel like hell's hell at 3 in the middle of the night though. Do they share a cot at the moment?
BOB: Oskar is adorable - I love his bow tie; even DH went 'ahhh' when I showed him .
Tessasmum: the falling off sofas/beds etc creeps up on you doesn't it; not had this yet with Libby, but remember the horrible 'thud', then brief silence before scream with dds 1 and 2, then terrible gut-wrenching guilt, and vows that it would never happen again (it always did ).
Karma: night-time expressing must be exhausting!. I am a bit of a lazy so and so by nature, and remember when I BF with dd1 rushing to bathroom sink and squeezing it out manually ; sounds like you have a good supply going on! Good luck for Friday .
TWINKLE: we are meeting in Lowry retail outlet, in food hall, on Friday at 11ish - Enthusia has both your numbers now, in case you don't have PC access, so she will ring you (in which case, you won't be reading this anyway - durrr!!).
Kristina/Chacha: have set up hotmail e-mail account, so will be able to get that darn post removed! Thanks for you concern; one of my many faults is that I am too trusting, and impulsive
and forget anyone has access.
Well, must attack that ironing before she wakes!
Diege and Liberty .

Diege · 19/01/2006 09:43

BOB - yes, I'd definitely get to the GPs (not to alarm you) but that pad-changing doesn't sound right. Good luck, and let us know how you get on!

novadandypowder · 19/01/2006 09:48

BoB - i had a retained placenta too. I'm surprised you're still bleeding (or did it stop and start again?), and def. think you should get a second opinion about steak!!
The only reason I feel completely happy with our childminder is that she's worked with DH's business partner for years. I'd be a wreck if I had to leave her with someone I didn't know.
You may have missed it, but if you scroll down to the beginning of the month I've posted a link to pics of Natalie.

Karma - feel I must make a point of saying I do NOT have a Bugaboo

Diege - don't have sleep envy, Natalie isn't 'sleeping through' either. Saying that, I did make sure she slept in her cot all night last night after all the news reports about cot death increase in sofa sleepers. Made me very scared about co-sleeping which I do sometimes in the morning. It actually worked quite well last night, so she can stay in the cot in future.

Tessasmum - don't worry. I left Nat laying on the bed on a pillow once and when I came back in she had rolled off and was face down on the bed. Another time I left her with a muslin cloth under her head and when I came back she'd pulled it over her face . Maybe i shouldn't be admitting to these things...

Londoner · 19/01/2006 10:20

Morning everybody,

Thanks again to everyone so much for your support. This has been really tough and feel pretty limp, tired but happy. DD1 is so thrilled that her ear tag is gone, she says she keeps forgetting and trying to hide her ear and then is really excited when she remembers it's gone and tucks her hair proudly behind her ear. She seems so much more confident it's wonderful.
Karma - thanks for asking, yes she did have to have a general and it was really worrying, very tough. I waited until she really wanted it off as I figured the older she was the better as regards safety, but it is a risk especially for a cosmetic procedure like this, but it wasn't just that, it was affecting her confidence enormously, she was always fretting about covering it up and had been teased about it. Lots of dd1 tears preceeded this decision. Leaving her in the operating theatre was very very hard as you say. Good luck with the jabs tomorrow!
Good to see BoB and Kristina back, hi guys! Bob, Oskar is gorgous! And lovely to see pics of you and dh too, a lovely looking family.
Mummypinny - wow sounds like your house is a whirlwind of activity, it must be a real challenge juggling 2 dogs as well as two babies. Does it help in a way as it means you have to get out of the house for some fresh air etc at least once a day to walk the dogs?
Tessa - have been to Glasto last 3 years, dh goes every year that it's on as he works on music mags and it's a perk of the job. Did you go last year? Was v.hard slipping through all the slurry while 5 months pg. Also, on the main drags dd1 needed to be carried as water/mud came over the top of her boots! Was worth it though.
Busy - thanks for the invite. Agree with others, could you just be honest? Say you're broke and really worried about whether or not you'll cope with the journey, two young children etc. Maybe you could invite them and a few other key members of family to lunch nearer the time in way of a congratulatory celebration or something?
Diege & Rodeo - lol at your feet in mouths re: my pics, and for the compliments...... flattery most welcome.
nova - glad to hear about your childminder working out that's great, sorry to hear you've only got the dentist to look forward to so far though...ug ..routine check up only I hope. Am now looking forward to hearing all about you having glorious relaxing afternoons in restaurant/at home with dh, or being pampered in some sort of spa, or at show biz launch etc... watch this space eh..
brownie - so glad to hear Thomas' skin is improving with creams, my dd1 had eczema until she was @ 5/6 and has now grown out of it... which is v. common if they have it as babies, so hopefully Thomas will grow out of his too. Found using raw aloe plant (chop off a stem and rub gel directly onto eczema) really helpful when it flared up.hth. How is he today after his jabs?
BEKs and JenJam - glad you enjoyed your lunch, and thanks for your messages. BEKs thanks for offers of lifts to other meets etc.
Sorry if I've left anyone out... still feeling weird and disjointed.. ds2 still sick, he was up last night being sick at 1am, he'll get better eventually though.

ChaCha · 19/01/2006 10:26

Tessasmum - Glad all is okay, you must have had a fright though. DH's working from home can have their advantages although mine would have gone nuts. He is v.protective towards his little boy. Forgot to mention my LOL @ your DH's and DS's 'making gooey eyes at each other'

Mummypinny - How lovely to hear about another set of twins, awwwww! When I read yours and Golden's posts I don't feel I have any cause to complain. You both sound pretty calm too![Admiration Emoticon]

Golden - How are the boys? Is Ezra's reflux getting any better?

Nova - I forgot to mention Nat's pics. They are really gorgeous. I am quite forgetful these days and find myself re-scanning posts for what I've missed.

Diege - So?!? How much of your workout have you done today then? ;) He hee!

Well DS is smiling, chuckling and really finding his voice. He also follows me across the room (with eyes of course) and replies to my cooos. Very proud mummy moment - thank you!!!

goldenoldie · 19/01/2006 10:37

Mummypinny - funny, my boys have only just become disturbed by each others cries too. Previously one could sleep peacefully through when the other one cried.

Tessa - OMG, that is my nightmare, gald little Ash is OK. Is big sister a bit jelous of all the attention the baby is getting? I know my 10 year old is NOT impressed that all my time is taken up with the new arrivals.

Not so long ago I left Nat propped up in my bed while I went to the loo. When I came back I found him with a pillow over his head, which must have fallen down from the pile behind him!

browniechick · 19/01/2006 11:59

Morning All! HAve just droped Thomas off at his Grandads, for a few hours of Grandad time! Works quite well, as then I get to come back home and catch up on all of the jobs I have let slide throughout the week, and go and do the food shop - which is a real treat!!
Londoner - T seems much better now, took the plasters off today, and there is hardly a mark there - what a brave boy! Thanks too for eczema tip - the Aveeno cream is working a treat at the mo, so hopefully it will disappear, which is what the HV and Dr have both said. Can't believe though that when we went to Drs last week (where we saw a nurse practioner) that they said it was milk spots and prescribed the greasy ointment which made him look like a slug the HV took one look and said don't use that on him, its sebo-whatsit ezcema, which is v common, try Aveeno - it should clear up in a few weeks. LoL - no wonder people don't know what to believe when it's there first baby!!!
Anyway, better go and do some of the jobs that need doing!!!
Brownie

mummypinny · 19/01/2006 12:05

Ir t is going to take me a while to take on these nicknames - sorry. I have just gone to reply to all your comments and cant remember who asked what now. I am sure I will pick it up soon!

It is good in a way with the dogs you are right. You have to walk the dogs and so you have to go out. Also you always feel better when you have been ut - it would be easy not to as it takes soo long to get out of the house!

I am glad you like their names !

Good luck at the doctors - for your own piece of mind you need to insist on investigations.

I am sure I meant to respond to other things but cannot remember and the dogs need to go out in the garden!!

I will try and remember names next time - sorry

Busyalexsmummy · 19/01/2006 12:11

tessasmum-Hmm, i remember dp putting alex on the sofa when he was about 6 wks old, and he must having shuffled off, even though we thought he wasnt mobile at all. nevermind, these things happen, alex doesnt seem adversly affected by it and he also fell off our bed onto bare floorboards
How olds tessa again? do you have good success with naughty step? im wondering when to start it with alex......

mummypinny-Hi, sorry it may look like i had forgot you on previous posts, but its just ive had a lot of catching up to do as havent been on for a week-this lot chat for england!!-so, hello and welcome!!twins eh!? its a wonder you and goldenoldie find time to get online what with 2x washing/feeding/ changing etc! well done to you!

babyonboard-good idea about asking for a scan, that doesnt sound right, and even if it is normal, its better to find out and put your mind at rest!

Rodeo · 19/01/2006 14:51

Afternoon all,

Have crying baby upstairs, been trying to comfort her but she's getting frustrated with me (and me with her!)

Welcome aboard Mummypinny, another set of twins, how lovely, one of my friends has just found out she's got a girl nd boy set of twins and is going to call them Abigail and Kyle, not as nice as Fern and Connor Did bite my tongue though and manage a 'that's nice'!

BOB, welcome back! Lovely piccies Hope all goes well at the docs!

Aw, Londoner, How sweet! Told my dd she might be able to wear contacts when she's older instead of her glasses and she's over the moon! She had a eye appt at the hospital and they say her squint has practically gone - yay!

Tessamum, I always used to find Joe face down as he rolled off a pillow or cushion, and remember the heart-stopping thud of him rolling off the bed or sofa, I don't know how he managed to do it so much! Jess has avoided it so far....

Nova, how lovely to have a great childminder, but dentist?? Someone gave me some money the other day to give to dp (an enrolment fee for his Karate club) and said it's a cheque. And I said "oh, no trips to the co-op for me then ha ha" The co-op?!!! How sad am I?! She looked at me as if to say 'you poor sad woman'

Welcome back, Busy and Bowniechick Where have you been?!

Right, let's see if she's calmed down...and hopefully not too tear-stained

OP posts:
browniechick · 19/01/2006 15:05

Nowhere exciting Rodeo - just haven't been at home to access the pc. Having builders working in utility room fitting a cloakroom - so it is awkward with a little one - as all his bottles are in the fridge which is where they are working. Hence have taken T and gone up to my parents house each day. They haven't been here today though, as they has been a mix up with the toilet! so am waiting for them to come back and finish the job!
Well, better go and pick little man up - have to go via Tescos (as if doing the shop at Morrisons wasn't enough!) cos Morrisons had no SAM Gold!! THis seems to be a regular problem at the moment!
Speak later, have a nice afternoon ladies!
Brownie

browniechick · 19/01/2006 15:05

Oops - meant SMA Gold!!

novadandypowder · 19/01/2006 19:21

well DH is out working tonight, DD is in bed, the cats are fed and sleeping...hmmm might have to be bath night tonight (obv. getting out in time for CBB!)

Swimming went well again, and the other mums seem a bit friendlier this week.

Not that much else to report I'm afraid, hoping for another night like last night (how many times has everyone said that on here!)

BEKsmum · 19/01/2006 19:27

Evening ladies,

Londoner glad to hear that dd's op went well, well done you for being so brave leaving her in the operating theatre - I'd have fallen apart.

BOB I can do a meet up most mondays and Wednesdays as ds1 is in school, we did say we'd have another go at meeting up soon. I did CAT & mail you about the previous meet up, hope it was passed on! Loved the photo's of Oskar he's gorgeous

Rodeo great news about dd's squint you must both be thrilled.

Busy I agree with everyone else about the wedding, honesty is probably best even if it doesn't make you very popular, and as someone said she might even offer to pay and then you really will need to come up with a good excuse

Glad to hear I'm not the only mummy to have dropped their baby, thought I was a bit of a disaster area when I admitted that dh had dropped Thomas at 6 weeks, now you're all coming out of the woodwork

Brownie glad that Thomas's skin is improving and it makes a change to hear a HV get it right (no offence to any HV's)

Diege Sorry to hear you're in the same boat re night wakings ours aren't helped by trying to get Ben dry at night at the moment, he will be 4 in March so should be able to so this but he was late to potty too. He's also having a lot of night terrors at the moment, screaming the house down with his eyes wide open and shaking all over, it only lasts about 10 minutes but it really rattles me, he doesn't remember it in the morning and we can only link it to growth spurts and those occasions when he has really been told off lots during anyone day.

Hello to everyone else, sorry if I've missed anything but best be off to get Ben ready for bed, have a great meet up tomorrow girls. BEKs

novadandypowder · 19/01/2006 20:40

well sadly I haven't made it to the bath, I'm STILL here at the computer - lol! I've managed to add a few more pics to the yahoo group after much swearing at the slowness, and managing to delete the first album I made!!!

tessasmum · 19/01/2006 22:51

Nice pictures Nova

Rodeo · 19/01/2006 23:49

Ah they are good Nova, Natalie's starting to look really cheeky! You inspired me to put some more on too, but the new one's I've put up aren't very good quality so I apologise! Will have to borrow my dad's camera soon

Right off to bed, Night x

god im knackered, and ive got a driving lesson at 10.30am tommorrow-o dear!

goldenoldie · 20/01/2006 08:17

A few new photos added.

Londoner · 20/01/2006 09:38

Good morning

Phew, ds2 and dd1 back at school today... feeling rather shell shocked though.... it's very quiet here now, with just the whirr of the washing machine/tumble drier/dishwasher (not exactly a pagan but I do love my appliances..), it's very strange....
Rodeo, that's great news about your dd squint almost gone. My ds1 wears contacts, started age 11, and they've completely changed his life..... he is so much more confident and really balks at wearing his glasses for the one day a week he must break from the lenses. When can your dd try them?
BEKS, thanks for pat on back after dd op.
RE: dropped babies.. my dh was dropped on his head onto concrete by his 10 year old brother as a baby and he is fine, bet they will all love these stories when they are older.
Right, off to look at these new pics girls... and getting ready to go to cinema to see Steve Coogan film, Cock & Bull Story or something.......see you later, y'all have a nice day now!
