Hee hee - I have had 11 weeks of bad hair days so far, haven't managed to get to a hairdresser since pre birth so my roots are 12 weeks long!

Somersaults · 06/02/2012 16:40

I would love to come but we're at baby swim where I've arranged to meet a friend and go for lunch after so will have to join in the next meet up.

I just did my first level one 30 Day Shred workout- modified of course- and had to have a mid-shred bf because Cairlin has been having tiny feeds constantly for the last couple of days. I'm going with it though because she slept from 9.30 last night until 6am this morning! Yay! Anyway, back to the Shred... It's official, I have no abs. I've gone from being a fairly in shape competitive trampolinist to having no abs whatsoever. I cannot do one single sit up. Not good. Hopefully the Shred will help, even if I'm modifying the already modified version!

MooseyMoo · 07/02/2012 06:54

somersaults i've started the shred as well. Aiming fir every other day as body is knackered! Did it with husband on Sunday and he found one ab exercise really painful. I couldn't feel anything as those muscles are nonexistent really weak. Got the 6 pack in 6 weeks DVD as well as that is the area that needs most work.

Pilates is helping to connect with those weak muscles as well. Really enjoying it.

2nd round of jabs today. Ds is full of smiles and giggles at moment. DD gave him a kiss and cuddle yesterday. So cute.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 07/02/2012 11:43

Bugger. Poo. Bum. Likely I can't now make Thursday at TC. Putting DS's coat on, bent over sofa yesterday, my back went. It is complete agony. Poor DP needs to be out earning but instead is having to stay at home doing everything as all I can manage is to feed DS on sofa. I can't even pick him up or do a nappy change. To say I'm frustrated is an understatement. Just as I was getting over the section, this happens. I am in so much pain. If in the unlikely event I am better, I'll be there but otherwise will have to leave it till after half term. Bugger. Poor DS must be so bored lying next to me. :(

sasamunde · 07/02/2012 13:12

So sorry MrsA! Mine nearly went the other day and that pain was bad enough. I really sympathise, it sucks. Hope it improves and if not make sure you get it seen to in case it's something nasty involving discs.

I will be there on Thur, I am tall with hair like a haystack unless I've been at it with the straighteners in which case it looks like a strawstack. I'll have a crying baby Grin and a toddler that looks too cute to be mine.

Blake just did another monster poo. Who designs babygros?? How are you supposed to get them off without spreading said monster poo all over baby?

sasamunde · 07/02/2012 13:20

Oh and hello Krissie! Probably a good thing to hang on till the day after Halloween, that way you get 2 parties instead of one. Clever baby.

kate393 · 07/02/2012 19:16

Hi krissie...I did have a Halloween baby...years now of spending her birthday dressed as a pumpkin/witch/ghost!!!
mrsA bad news about back...guess all you can do is take it easy...hope you have a speedy recovery.
sasamunde someone told be the other day about babygros that have cross over bits at shoulders are designed like that so you can pull them down and off that way!!! Why the hell did I not know this? I've spent 3.5 months trying to get pooey babygros over E's head without smearing poo in her hair/face etc like something out of krypton factor!!!! And all her bodysuits have these shoulder bits!!! Shock

MooseyMoo · 07/02/2012 19:35

Oh good god Kate never thought of that. It's called an envelope neck on bodysuits. Though don't have that many explosive poos with formula.

Just got new Fleece all in one for ds from little Trekkers. Good half price sale www.littletrekkers.co.uk/shop/index.php/flypage/14495/5f4d92a09be7d2d1cfd31f77526f26cb

Also got good deal on puddle suit for DD from muddy puddles. £12 reduced from £40. www.muddypuddles.com/baby/all-in-ones/puddleflez_super_warm-in-one.htm

busyboysmum · 07/02/2012 20:17

OMG amazing - my back went last night as well. I've been in agony, been to the doctor for painkillers then the osteopath who manipulated it and it feels a tiny bit better but not much. Apparently when you are bf your ligaments are still soft so you are more likely to do things like this - I think I did it lifting ds as well.

Like you say it has been so hard to change nappies etc Luckily for me dh is a landscape gardener who can;t do anything when the ground is frozen so he's been at home today so I've had help. But its so frustrating and annoying not to mention the fact that Luke has just started doing 7 hour stints at night, and I got no benefit from it last night as I was in agony most of the night.

DH has been laughing at me and saying I am obviously too old for this baby lark - he is 6 months younger so still 41 at the mo!

I will still be going to TC as I need to be out and about to make me feel better, I spent today walking around our local town in the freezing cold just to keep myself from stiffening up.

Somersaults · 07/02/2012 20:18

I never thought about pulling them down either! I just thought it was because baby's have big heads!

MrsA sorry to hear about your back. I've had back probs so I know how you're feeling. Just take it easy and I wish you a very speedy recovery.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 07/02/2012 20:35

Thanks for the kind messages ladies. busyboysmum I know what you mean - DS slept 7.30pm till 5.30am and i slept rigid in one position. It is frustrating as I had so many plkans for this week and poor DP was supposed to be in stratford upon avon today - he's self employed so if he's not out and about, he's not earning!
But, took DS to doctors for my 8 week check and his jabs (he did brilliantly, hardly cried and fell asleep by 7pm) and the doc said they don't routinely prescribe anything but paracetamol.
So got voltarol and paramol from Boots and now feeling slightly better. My back aches but it's from using other muscles that I don't normally use to support myself.
Tbh, I do fancy the TC as i could do with getting out and I adore sushi and Yo Sushi do takeaway... just not sure I can lift the bloody iCandy out of the boot. I'll see what happens tomorrow.

DS was also weighed today - 12.5lbs (5.7kg) at 9 weeks old!

And it took me a while with DD to realise that you remove pooey babygros downwards :)
Hoping to see some of you on Thursday in Starbucks - no make up is OK, baby sick clothes are ok and no comment on drink/muffin combo! I don't get out much so I am not holding back!!

Somersaults · 07/02/2012 20:45

And Busy sorry to hear about your back too!

Shame I won't see you on Thursday but really would like to come to the next one. I'm getting jealous about Starbucks and Krispy Kremes on the way home!

Caliphora · 08/02/2012 16:19

Well, I was just going to post to see who was coming - I'm getting excited, I don't get out much!

Abi has had a miraculous transformation... She now has 4-5 bottles between 5-7 oz every day, and sleeps 8-9 hours solid at night... First night it happened DP and I woke up before her and DP panicked because she hadn't woken up yet...

We had her weighed to day. She's put on 600gms since the 17th of Jan, and is now just above the 75th centile... (little dance of joy and excitement!)

Caliphora · 08/02/2012 16:38

Also, can we make it 11am instead? 10.15 is a bit... early ;)

busyboysmum · 08/02/2012 18:04

11 is fine for me, I only live 5 mins away so am there often. In fact was there with my mum this morning walking around to try to sort out the old back and stop stiffening up. Seems a lot better today - early intervention being the key I think.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 08/02/2012 20:00

11 is fine for me too. I'm not 100% sure I'm coming as my back is still quite bad. I can't stand for more than about 10mins so I'll say I'll try my best and if you see a short, fat lady in a caramel coat and iCandy pram hovering nervously around starbucks, please come say hello!

sasamunde · 08/02/2012 21:49

OMG thanks Kate! yup all my babygros have the crossed shoulders Blush

See you tomorrow hopefully ladies, I'm Sarah by the way.

Somersaults · 09/02/2012 08:14

Have fun today those of you meeting up!

Caliphora · 09/02/2012 09:41

On my way out - getting excited!

I'm Ella, by the way :)

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 09/02/2012 10:24

enjoy everyone, I won't be there today. DP is away next week so i can't risk my back being anything other than 100% and it's still not right today. :(

I've been stuck indoors all bloody week too.

How about another meet in 2 weeks time? (avoids half term next week) Or for those feeling brave, TC newbies is showing the Woman in Black with Daniel Radcliffe on Tuesday at 11.30am? It's supposed to be quite a scary film though but is only for parents and babies under 18m - ie won't be full of children off school.

TreacleSoda · 09/02/2012 12:37

Sorry to hear about all these bad backs, that must be agony.

I had DS weighed yesterday, he is nearly 16 lbs at 15 weeks. I thought he was enormous, but its the 75th centile and perfectly in proportion to his length and ties in with his birth weight etc so all good here.

Interestingly, my HV started to talk to me about weaning (as this is the last visit until he is a year old) and I said 'sure thats not for ages yet?' and she started to hmm and ahh and said 'actually, we are now being advised that 6 months is really a bit late for most babies, and the latest research is indicating that a bit earlier is better after all. Confused. After banging on for the past few years that 'research shows that 6 months is best' etc. Is it any wonder that people just switch off to healthcare advice? As it happens, my HV is lovely, and always says 'well, the book says X, but you are his mum so you have to take the advice on board but follow your instinct too, he is your baby', but I have met other HVs in the past who were much less helpful.

hadak · 09/02/2012 15:00

Hi Ladies.
Hope you all have a lovely time at the TC meet. Mrs A sorry to hear you are unable to make it- hope your back gets better soon. I knoew what agony it is I was off work from 30 wks preg as my back had given up. Still not right now ut nowhere near as bad as it was.
Treacle we too had weigh in yesterday 12 8 at 12 weeks. HV is visiting next week for her 3 month check/visit. Don't really know what that entails.
2nd lot of jabs due next week- ooh the joy!!
Hope all other mummies and babies are ok?
We are still struggling with sleep due to wind/reflux or whatever is causing his tummy pain. We have started loggin his sleep to see if there is any real pattern and the average he sleeps in 24 hrs is 7 hours- which seems very little over a full day and night so he is permantly tired and of course very "ratty" with it. Hopefully it will pass but I do hope it passess soon we are all knackered at the Hadak house!! It is a good job he has a lovely smile which makes up for his screaming times.
Keep warm everyone and TC meet mummies letus all know how it went.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 09/02/2012 15:18

Ah hope the meet went well - please can we meet again soon - I'm going stir crazy inside!!

Hadak that does seem very little sleep. DS now sleeps 7.30-6.30 (yes, Ii know we're very lucky!) and then has 2 long naps in the morning and is quite awake in the afternoon...hmm just like his big sister really, a morning napper. Overall, he probably gets about 16 hrs sleep in every 24.
At 9 weeks yesterday, he weighed 12.5lbs. Quite a chunkster but he is bang on the 50th percentile. Had he remained at his birth weight (9lbs 3oz) he would have been on the 92st percentile, so I think his birth weight was exaggerated by the section drugs as once he put weight back on, he went onto the 50th and has stayed there. his sister went onto ther 25th percentile and has stayed there ever since, so makes sense.

Treacle the 'guidelines may me cross sometimes as they are just that guidelines and each baby will differ.
I'm quite sure DS will want to wean before 6 months given his appetitie and I am also sure that DD would have happily gone to 7 months+ as she never had an appetite (still doesn't as is teeny weeny petite at 3 yrs). tbh, i gave her a banana at 26 weeks cos i thought i probably should. she didn't really eat much till 30 weeks.
I always look at the BLW guide - is baby able to sit up without assistance? Is he/she able to hold chunks of food on their own and do they seem interested in food (my neice 'self blw' as she grabbed her brother's toast at 22 weeks and stuffed it into her mouth and chewed!)

i think 6 months is an ideal but earlier weaning due to knowing baby is also fine. At the docs, there was a box to tick on his sheet that I saw nosied saying 'baby is weaned at 6 weeks'!!!!!!!!

Caliphora · 09/02/2012 15:24

TC meet was lovely - good to see you girls!
Yes please for another one soon - I need to see the real world and real people!

7 hours is very little - has your GP said anything?

We're slowly slowly getting ready for weaning here, Abi seems to practice hand-mouth coordination and hand-hand coordination, so there may be soft carrot batons in a month's time or so!
She's 16 weeks tomorrow, so no rush, I'm just enjoying her love for the bottle right now!

busyboysmum · 09/02/2012 17:08

I enjoyed today - lovely to meet you ladies.

Am up for a meet after half term, quite happy to sit and chat in Starbucks like today - all the babies (and toddler) were amazingly well behaved, what very good mummies we must be to have such well behaved babies eh?

Weaning - when I had ds1 I was forced to wean him at 3 months when he just wasn't ready for it, ds2 I was supposed to wait for 6 months - this is all in the space of 3 years! I am just going to go with my instincts this time around.
