Ladies with little girl's - I am going to have a sort out of DD's clothes this weekend - was going to put on eBay but thought I'd check if anyone here might be interested - I can post pics on FB if anyone is interested (or email or something if you're not on FB) Grin

alicat10 · 21/01/2012 10:13

Sorry - interested in making me an offer on any of it - I'm afraid I do need to raise a bit a cash Blush

Caliphora · 21/01/2012 13:41

hadak You may want to have his dosage reviewed - have you seen a paediatrician or your GP?

alicat Argh, I wish I hadn't spent nearly £100 on clothes for Abi now!!!

In the end, we shopped, spent an hour "getting ready" at the hotel Wink had lovely outrageously expensive dinner, watched Sherlock Holmes 2 (brilliant film with brilliant Stephen Fry as Mycroft), walked back to the hotel and enjoyed a baby free bedroom... Then I couldn't fall asleep - but finally got 6hrs coma sleep. Woke up and had REAL BREAKFAST, then went into town again, had a haircut, spot of lunch, and now we're heading back.

Lush! But I can't wait to cuddle Abi, been pining at prams all morning!

hadak · 21/01/2012 14:32

Cali Sounds like you had a great time. I am a little envious though!! There is no way we would be able to go out together as nobody to babysit although I have managed lunch out and am going out this week for a meal with a friend so that will be fun.
Re dose change- yes I will go back to see GP the hosptal said there was nothing else they could do but to ask to be referred back if there were further problems or it continued past 4 months.(Of course doesn't help when you have sleepy lovely baby during hospital appointments grrrr) I need to ask GP for more ranitide anyway as the bottle I have says to discard after 28 days of opening and we are almost there. I am hopeful it is just his jabs that have knocked him a bit and we will get back to how he was.
Alicat good luck with the clothes selling. I have got masses here too and tbh he just lives in sleepsuits most of the time, my brother due a baby boy in a few weeks so at least I will be able to pass it on to a good home.
Hope everyody has a good afternoon and evening,

Caliphora · 22/01/2012 00:05

hadak It's apparently (all anecdotal, of course) quite common for babies with reflux to get a bit worse after jabs.

Grandma magic works - Abi has been feeding and settling brilliantly while my mother has been here. Finally, hopefully, we've got some progress.

sasamunde · 22/01/2012 12:34

Phew what a week. DH away, DS jabs on Tues, DD projectile vomiting all Tues night so not at childminder's Wed/Thur and sick AGAIN Thur night, then I get ill on Fri! Thank goodness it's the weekend.
On the plus side DS is definitely becoming more cute. Less killer and more ladykiller as DH says :) we get lots of smiles and "ah-goo"s. Reading this thread has kept me sane with breast feeding, am experiencing all the same issues. Sadly no advice, but solidarity ladies!

I can't see any events or anything on at the Trafford Centre to help set a date for a meet up. Shall we just pick a Tuesday in Feb? Don't think my attention span would get me through a film these days though Blush

Staceroo · 22/01/2012 15:26

Thanks for the info about babies in there own rooms - i think we will look at doing it in the next couple of weeks - however the last few nights Tillys only been sleeping 4 hours at a time :-( from previously doing 6 or 7.

MrsA I do OK taking the nappies in my change bag - i just take some normal nappy sacks to put the dirty nappies in to take home - i figure they're not any bigger once they are dirty and can just scrunch them up and cram them back in once they're tied up in a nappy sack. I did pick up a little plastic pot for wipes from Wilkos the other day though to save some space - it had some huggies wipes in but replaced with the nice ones i use now and just means you don't need to carry a whole pack of wipes all the time.

Well done those saving for LOs already - we've started with good intentions and hope we can keep it up! As we get £80 pw family allowance we top that up by another £20 and have a SO of £100 amonth into Tillys savings account. Tbh we didn't shop around much at the min as no interest to be earnt anywhere so just opened santanders child savings acc.

gold if bf have you tried swapping sides when she starts messing around? That seems to work for us.

We've a holiday booked! Only a 4 hour flight so shouldn't be that bad - and I'm thinking easier with a bf newborn than a toddler???!!! (I hope!)

TreacleSoda · 22/01/2012 16:05

MrsA when I used washable nappies with DD, I got a waterproof drawstring bag for going out and about, and for taking to childminder etc, which worked well. Something a bit like this.
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Washable-Reusable-Wet-Cloth-Nappy-Carry-Travel-Bag-/320671928240?pt=UK_Baby_Baby_Changing_Nappy_Sacks_Bins_and_Stackers_LE&var=&hash=item76c00abf4e
The drawstring pulled really tight, so I never had any leaks and it even managed to contain offensive odours reasonably well! I have resorted to disposables this time round, as DS just peed right through the washables, and I ended up changing his clothes with every nappy change. It annoyed me, as I love the washables, I like the fact that they are chemical free, and I think there is nothing cuter than a big fluffy nappy on a cute wee baby bum!

Caliphora · 22/01/2012 21:32

Treacle - have you seen the Nature Baby (Naty) brand? Swedish, cornstarch based disposables! We buy them from mothercare, I love them, and they're easier on the conscience. I've also found that they're very nice at keeping nappy rash at bay - Abi has had a beautiful bottom since birth!

Somersaults · 22/01/2012 22:24

Well I thought we might have cracked sleeping last night. We were out at friends until 11pm so Caitlin fell asleep in the car on the way home, I fed her when we got in and put get down at about midnight. I went to bed not long after that and she didn't wake us until 7.30am! Amazing! I'm sure it was because she didn't sleep at all while we were out (too nosey!) so I decided I'd keep her up tonight too and see if it worked again... She fell asleep this afternoon at 4.30 and has been asleep ever since! She didn't even wake up when I changed her nappy. That's never happened before! So, I think our long sleep tonight has probably gone out of the window now!

LiamsMummyJaz · 23/01/2012 00:31

Hi all! I had my DS on the 6th of Nov. am I in the right place? Lol. ( Sorry I'm new to this!!)

X

goldmaple · 23/01/2012 03:32

staceroo I do change sides when bf and it helps. But she rarely goes back so I worry about her not getting the 'hind milk'. Do you think Tilly is going through a growth spurt?

Welcome liamsmum you are in the right place, except quite a few babies decided to come early so we have a lot of Oct babies too:)

Emily slept from 11-7 yesterday!! It was amazing! I woke up at 6am with very hard and sore breast waiting for her. But it was great FX it happens again

cookie9 · 23/01/2012 08:13

Welcome to the Novemeber club liamsmummyjaz.

Little man waking up at 4 so tired mummy here but pma going to hospital today and hope to finally be discharged as Brest abscess much better. Dh has man flu so spent weekend in bed apart from recovering enough to be able to go to a party on Saturday night.

Can cope with lack of sleep as on mat leave but is anyone else worried about how they will cope when they go back to work?

TreacleSoda · 23/01/2012 09:25

Cali I will have to check those nappies out, thanks for the recommendation. Are they horribly expensive though?

Liamsmummyjaz welcome, you are indeed in the right place!

Cookie the going back to work thing worried me first time round, but the night waking had really settled down by then and we were getting decent stretches of sleep. I went back when DD was about five months old.

This time round, I am giving serious consideration to being a SAHM, because I only work four hours a day but have to pay for a full day's childcare, once I take commuting time into it. When I factor in full time childcare, plus travelling costs, it doesn't seem worthwhile. I have an 'ok' job - its not minimum wage, I have a fair bit of responsibility and I enjoy it ok, but its far from a high flying career, so I wouldn't be sacrificing all that much if I gave it up. The only thing that would concern me would be how difficult it would be to get back into work in a few years time if I take a break now.

PerishStorm · 23/01/2012 09:30

I think we might have cracked sleeping through the night... DS is going from 10.30ish to 6-7am. His wind has really eased off now he is bigger and we have stopped gripe water. The horrors pass.

DS is in his own room in his cot and he seems much more settled. Still won't sleep in there during the day though.

I have a GP appointment as still no period, despite not expressing for last 7 weeks. Also a little concerned about my moods and at this stage PND might be a real possibility.

I hope you are all well and enjoying your LOs.

LiamsMummyJaz · 23/01/2012 09:49

Thank you! Smile Hope everyone is enjoying there LO's! Mine is a little beauty at the moment! He is amazingly contented. The only problem is I think (well know) he's got reflux. The health visitor at the clinic says that it's more of a pain for me and that because he's putting so much weight on to see how he goes!!?? Does anybody have any advice to help ease it? It really doesn't seem to bother him, he doesn't have wind and he sleeps round the clock without waking at night, but it can't be nice for him to be being sick all the time Sad
x

kate393 · 23/01/2012 10:56

Morning all! Hope everyone's had a great weekend.
Welcome liams...E is the same with reflux. When they're putting on weight dr wont give anything and to be honest I wouldn't want anything for E as it doesn't particularly bother her and her weight is really good. But I know what you mean it's a pain getting sick everywhere and I feel bad for her. I find keeping upright for ar least 20 mins after bottle and keeping calm for an hour with her after plus breaks and burping throughout bottle helps keep it down initially. I prop her head up a bit on a towel and she has books under one side of Moses basket on night. All fairly basic and I'm sure you're doing all this already. Just one of those things I suppose they'll grow out of it.
New crib arriving today as E has outgrown Moses basket and she has a cot bed in her own room which is too big to go in ours so that should tide us over next few months til I move her in to own room.

LiamsMummyJaz · 23/01/2012 11:15

Yea I have tried everything lol. It is a pain for the little man... He was in his cot at about 2 and a half weeks old as he kept hitting the sides of his Moses basket and waking himself up! The only thing that I have felt work at night, as this used to be the worse time for his sickness, is putting 2 folded bath towels underneath his mattress to elevate him a tiny bit. This has worked wonders. How are you feeding your little one? x

kate393 · 23/01/2012 13:53

liams E has never been bad at night with it but we do the towel trick too. She is ff...6.5ml every 3 hours except night when she'll sleep 10:30-7 approx. dr browns bottles...level 2 teat since a couple of days ago as the newborn teat was frustrating her so she's much better on level 2 (shes 3 months today and level 2 are 3 months +) she drinks really fast though now as a result so I try and slow her down as much as poss but her wind and sickness is no worse on it. Are you using a dummy at all as that can help straight after a feed with keeping it down?

Caliphora · 23/01/2012 18:58

Treacle Not eye watering, we're on low incomes and afford them - about 6.88 for a pack of 36. Not cheaper than Pampers, but to me it's worth it. I'm starting our reusables ASAP, but at the moment Abi isn't settled enough to have headspace and time to do all the laundry.

hadak · 23/01/2012 19:34

Evening ladies and welcome Liamsmummy
Perish you have lifted my spirits by telling me your little ones wind has now eased- hopefully same for us soon please. Sorry to hear you are feeling low hope your Gp is able to help.
Crap time here we are both on our knees with tiredness baby only slept 1am-5am (in fits and starts) and lay against me or OH last night and that was from yesterday lunchtime so of course he has been grotty all day yesterday today. we were supposed to go out as a family this afternoon as my okder son had a medical appointment in a large town about 10 miles away so we decided we would go and shop and eat out but as baby was so unsettled I went on my own with older son. I am really considering giving up BF as although I enjoy feeding and Little one is putting weight on ok he is in so much pain from wind I think it must be somethiong he is eating and I can't figure what.
Anyway enough moanning from me - it seems all I ever do these days sorry.
Cookie glad to hear the abscess has cleared up you must be very relieved.
Cali was it lovely to get back to Abi yesterday?
Have a good evening everyone- better rescue OH from the crying machine!!

LiamsMummyJaz · 23/01/2012 20:32

Kate - yes he has a dummy. He doesn't really have it though unless we are out and about. He never needs it at night and spits it out as soon as he's asleep. I've heard that could help settle his tummy. And he does sometimes have it after his bottle ad it does seem to work Smile
He's on 8oz now every 3-4 hours. But he does sleep through now which is ace! He'll be 3 months on sunday so we were going to change his teats to 3+ but he drinks waaay to quick and I'm scared he'd bring the whole bottle back up. I just can't wait give him some proper food!

Tjuice · 24/01/2012 13:24

Hello ladies, been a while.
Glad to hear that some of you are having more sleep. Well, actually rather jealous. We are being woken up umpteen times in the night for the dummy, food or with a dirty nappy. I have to change the way we are using the dummy, because its already becoming a sleep association and this was a nightmare with DD1. Now I just use it to settle her a bit, then whip it out before she falls asleep.

But she is 5.5 kilos today and 61cm, so really growing!

Has anyone else's baby got cradle cap? I have tried so many remedies but nothing is working... I hate scraping it off after oiling it. Health visitor has recommended some shampoo from the apotek here so will give it a try but the english version, Dentinox didn't work at all.

I had my first night out on Friday - wine bar, sushi then a cocktail bar with my friend. Was really weird to be out at night after so long :) Actually wore heels and a very forgiving new dress from COS.

Hope you are having good days. Its freezing but really sunny here but I am in being domestic and taking it easy after a checkup from the doctor revealed that my annoying cough is actually a virus and I still have very low iron levels. Its the same thing every winter here, low immunity and feeling crap. Bring on summer!

Caliphora · 24/01/2012 13:47

Tjuice I don't miss Scandinavian winters!

reflux I'm not one to take reflux lightly, considering Abi's nightmare, but I have to play devil's advocate here. 8oz every 3 hours sounds very hefty for a 3 month old. Abi, at 13.2lbs on her 3 month day, should eat between 5-7oz every 4 hours (currently under-performing miserably at 3-4oz every 3-4 hours).
It could be that lo's are overeating because of acid in the reflux, and could benefit from an antacid such as ranitidine. I'f they're over eating, the reflux could "simply" be them vomiting up the food their system can't handle?
I'd go see a GP.
I know it sounds dismissing, but over-eating can be just as indicative of a problem as under-eating.

LiamsMummyJaz · 24/01/2012 14:30

We tried reducing his bottles but he just screams bloody murder which also made him sick. He has never really sicked his milk back up. It's normally about 40 mins after his bottle he starts spitting out bile Sad but on the bright side he has really improved over the last 48 hours! We have been propping him up almost constantly all day. So I think this is working. (fingers crossed)
