LadyThompson · 06/11/2011 13:23

Now, come on ladies - don't kill the thread for me Smile

Your kind words, thoughts and prayers mean more to me than I can say. I am still finding it very hard, I think it's the shock, but I keep trying to focus on his comparative lack of suffering which is, let's face it, a massive plus.

So please do chat on. It's not disrespectful. And I hope you are all ok.

Kayzr · 06/11/2011 14:08

LadyT I am so so sorry. Sad

EffiePerine · 06/11/2011 17:01

I smiled when I read your message L: so characteristic of you Smile.

In the interest of general chatter, I have been trekking into town via the dreaded rail replacement buses as we had a flood at work which got into one of our storage areas. Thankfully not too much damage, but have been plodding around in wellies shifting boxes and film cases all day. Shall be glad to get home to a cooked dinner and a hot bath.

DH took advantage of being sole parent to take the boys to Macdonalds.

sybilfaulty · 06/11/2011 18:32

DH has spent most of today faffing in the new kitchen. What is it with men and their recipes? My chilli con carne - £5 and about half an hour. Dh's (a la Heston sodding Blumenthal) - £40 and all day. Is it appreciably nicer? No, not at all.

McDonald's sounds fun. Mine haven't been yet but am sure we will as DD1 is dying to!

Am very tired and frumpy today, must buck self up.

sybilfaulty · 06/11/2011 18:33

Those of you who have met me might well agree that I am frumpy, but I am actually GRUMPY today as well, sorry Smile

AAAvegetable · 06/11/2011 20:13

LadyT, as I said on my text, I am so sorry that you have lost your dad. You are right that it is a blessing he did not suffer for long at all, and you had time to see him, but that is not going to stop you feeling his loss. I hope you will be surrounded with loved ones tomorrow as I know it's also the anniversary of your DH's death. I will be thinking about you often.

I am growing old ladies. It's Sunday night and I am vaguely watching Antiques Roadshow while browsing the papers (& Internet) and wearing slippers. I have turned into my grandmother (my mother would never have behaved in such a dull and decrepit way).

JollyBear · 06/11/2011 20:30

AAA I am sat with my slippers on with a bag of toffee (treacle) waiting for Downton Abbey to start. My grandma would have been proud!

LadyT I admire your generosity and strength of spirit. Much love for you.

Effie Hope you had a lovely bath when you got home.

Syb How much?! Did you tell him it tasted the same as yours?!

AAAvegetable · 06/11/2011 20:37

I couldn't carry on like that Jolly. I have switched over to XFactor Results and removed my slippers to paint my nails.

I bet SiCo is regretting booking a woman who can actually sing. Florence and The Machine just really highlighted how hideously badly this year's contestants sing. I heart Florence.

sybilfaulty · 06/11/2011 20:43

I haven't totted it up Jolly, but with Tesco finest this and Taste the Difference that, it is all bound to be gold plated.

I love my slippers - they save my tights from snagging, they are warm and our floors are often dirty so everyone is happy. Esp as our washing machine is currently out of action.

Have just had an email from my manager apologising for not doing something. Good to apologise but a bit bloody late love.

I fear the lovely Kitty will be kept in. I caught a bit of it last night and I think Misha B and Marcus are the only ones who have any sort of a voice. THe rest are bad karaoke. I can't imagine seeing any of them in concert though. Perhaps I am just too old

VagolaJahooli · 06/11/2011 20:45

Fair nuff m'Lady, we've said our bit, now we'll leave you be. Much love and all that. Your status today gave me a nice warm feeling. How is DP, must be hard for him to see you suddenly bereaved like this, and at this time of year. Hope you get sometime together. Will you see you FIL this week?

Sybs you made me giggle with the Frumpy/grumpy mix up. I was getting ready to extoll your non Frumpy virtues, but you corrected yourself. I must admit, while I find it hard to imagine you grumpy, I'm not willing to commit to vouching for you usual demeanor publicly :o

Very hung over today, was out at a friends house warming and clearly warmed hee house a little more than was necessary. Spent half the day moaning, and the other half laying slab pavers with DH. Have to say we quite enjoyed working together and are now looking at starting to paint the house. Is it ok to paint in winter in a warmed house. I'm thinking of going for a quite plain white paint for the livingroom, it can be quite dark in here when the light outside is dull so I'm thinking if I go for a bright white it might lighten the room. Any thoughts or ideas from those in the know?

VagolaJahooli · 06/11/2011 20:46

Oh & AAA I'm watching AR, that poor man with his Francis Bacon knock off.
