Fizz Great present !! I got my DP Spurs tickets for his last Birthday. Hope Dr's has some positive suggestions for you.

Chilli yay, for bum up, we only have head up and lots of hip wriggles.

Cycle Have a good first day back !

Arch Treehouse sounds amazing, the view looked pretty incredible from FB pic

Joew Enjoy France, eats lots of cheese & drink lots of wine !

Ali WOW 19lbs !!! I love little chubby baby arms & legs, DI has scrawny skinny arms & legs, she looks a bit like E.T !!

Sassy Yay for rolling, it so exiting when they doing something new !

Well cot is built and im waiting for my glider chair to arrive and then my DI is going into her own room, i bought a Tomy startlight (Thanks for the idea, cant remember whom mentioned it) and i got my BT150 monitor which i use all the time, good to get to her before a major meltdown and then im sure im not going to have an excuse to not DTD (which i still havent done, is that really bad ??) But if im gonna make another one of these babys i guess i better start practising, well thats what my DP tells me anyway (smile)

Christmas is my favourite time of year, after my birthday and im afraid i wont be able to help but go crazy and buy loads of unnecessary presents for DI, i go crazy every year buying for everyone, i just get so swept up with it, i LOVE Christmas, opening presents, giving presents, decorating, eating !! Im sure DP will try to stop me, seeing as i only getting the basic maternity pay !

On a good note, im sending back my Medela Symphony so thats a saving of £45 a month and going back to my swing, i dont think it made a huge difference to how much i produce anyway, just means pumping each breast separately.

So what highchair does everyone have, there are so many to choose from i cant decide !!

Hope everyone is having good sleeping night babys.

Oh, also i got a fisherprice Jumperoo after seeing everyones pictures, DI loves it, needs a box underneath but she looks so cute in it !!!

I swear i buy almost everything that gets posted by you ladies on these threads, im always telling DP, oohhh look, one of my Mumsnet lady has these, shall we get one ?? You must have good taste as he always likes the stuff i show him !

GlaikitFizzog · 09/09/2011 17:28

Ha Aussie my pump is going back too! Medela will be a whole £90 a month down!! Hope they don't go bust!!

I just got a high chair from Ikea, the Antilop one, £15, your DP can't argue with that!! I've seen loads of recommendations on here for it, especially if you are doing BLW because there are no cracks or seams for food to hide and B seems to like it! I imagine I'll be sticking ours out the back and hosing it down!

kittycatcat · 09/09/2011 17:54

Glad u got to see the doc fizz

We have the stokke trip trapp but I bought it from a friend.

Advice pls ladies... Tomorrow we are due to go to Nottingham until Wednesday. My dh is running the Robin hood marathon. However s is still a bit Ill. He was sick last night but then fine til a feed this afternoon and has been sick again. So twice today. But not as much and he's much happier in himself. I don't know what to do. Well I want to go. But should we?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 09/09/2011 18:34

Kitty, are you staying with friends/family? If so I would say go. I personally wouldn't go if I was staying in a hotel as I need my home comforts around me when looking after a poorly child. My decision would be based on how I would cope away from home. S will still be at the tail end of a bug whether you stay at home or go away. Does that make sense?

We've got two stoke Tripp trapp's. I see them as investment pieces that will last for years!

I held a party for ds today, am bloody knackered. Quite why I thought I could do it on my own with a four month baby as well I don't know. Everyone seemed to enjoy it though and my party bags were retrotastic! They will take some beating

JKSLtd · 09/09/2011 18:56

ILike - what was in the bags? or was it the bags themselves?

Fizz - :)

Kitty - agree, depends on where/how you're staying but would mostly say go :)

Highchairs - everyone has different requirements/budgets, but i would say don't get a Svan. I spent lots on a 2nd hand one and got some money back selling it on ebay but it was a right PITA to clean, lots of allen key size holes that faced upwards....surely designed by someone who never fed a child.

We have 2 atm, one is an Ikea one pre-antilop i think, basic shape + no tray, sits up to table. DH got it from a skip Blush Grin
And a Chicco blue one that a bit comfier and had a tray. we were given that one when DS2 went through a major throwing stage and the tray is quite big so it caught stuff/saved it from the floor. But it is also a bit of a pain to clean but the cushion bit goes in the washing machine so not too bad.

right tv programme finished, bedtime :)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 09/09/2011 19:14

Oh Lordy. I forgot to say, phew Fizz. Am so glad it's nothing serious Smile

Oh well JKS, as you asked ........ (any chance to show off!)

The bags were small White paper bags (not unlike take away food bags!) and I put in them:

A small packet of choc buttons
A sweet watch (do you remember the sweetie ones that were on elastic, there were also necklaces like it)
An eraser that looked like a crayon and smelt.
A fortune telling fish (little flat red plastic fish that curl up on your palm)
Birthday cake, chocolate of course!

I'm not sure the kids were too fussed, but the parents loved them!

I'm having an early night tonight, I am totally pooped.

BuckminsterFullerene · 09/09/2011 19:16

hello!

week one of work is DONE! Longest week ever, I'm sure.

F's doing better on the bottles today but not good enough. New breastflow ones should arrive tomorrow.

Happy weekend, folks!

architien · 09/09/2011 19:37

Uggh! Tyre blown whilst driving today with the children luckily I was going slowly. Have since filled old one with foam to get to place of safety, changed to spare and booked to get a new one to put spare back into the boot on Monday. Just one in the long list of things that I don't like having to buy :(
And the Dr's secretary had a go at me for being 5 mins late "The Dr has better things to do"...apparently I had to rebook! I pointed out that they had rescheduled this appointment 3 times on me so my daughter was having her 6 week check at 18 weeks....and I wanted to speak to the Dr in person about this today and yes..I'll wait just here :) Dr came out within minutes and R was seen promptly. Cheeky bessom at the desk!
It's our wedding anniversary today. I woke up to a poem on my desktop :)

GsyGacheFiend · 09/09/2011 21:09

Fizz Glad all's well with B. Smile

Way to go with the Receptionist Arch Grin and happy anniversary. It's ours in 11 days, don't think we'll bother doing gifts but might see if my mum will babysit so we can go out for a decent meal and some Wine.

Took the 2 DC to the park this afternoon, making small talk with the granny on the bench next to me and she was saying how cute/small DD was when DS shouted over for me to watch him swinging on the swings. The Granny said "Oh your DS has a small head too, they're like a pair of little elves" . Is that a complimentConfused, I just mumbled that they looked like their Dad Grin

Sassy20 · 09/09/2011 21:30

Aussie another ikea antilop here. Lots of people recommended it and for £15 you can't go wrong.

Happy Anniversary Arch. It's ours in 16 days.

ecuse · 09/09/2011 21:39

Make that £135 off Medela's income - I took mine back last week too! To be honest, I could never tell that pumping was making much of a difference to my supply, and I got crappy little amounts out. Joanna's now up to about 75% breast 25% bottle. I suspect my supply isn't going to go up much more, but I'm past caring now. I've done my level best, so I'm no longer letting myself feel bad about it. And since she has some formula every anyway there doesn't seem much point in expressing breast milk for the odd occasion I'm away from her.

I'm soooo behind in posting. I've been lurking but usually read on my phone whilst feeding and I lose the will to live trying to type on there.

Anyway, I'm going to try to keep up now!

Just a few things I wanted to say

caramello, aussie and I managed to meet up a couple of weeks ago in real life and it was lovely. And their babies are beeeotiful. It was nice to meet some Aprilites in real life, made me wish I could meet the rest of you too.

DTD - I've done it three times (count them). To be honest, I am so not arsed about it at the moment.

Fizz - night feeds. To avoid meltdown you need to be either prepping the bottles in advance then microwaving them for a few seconds (it's really no big deal, as long as you give them a good shake before you feed to make sure there's no hotspots) or keeping a carton of formula, pair of scissors and a bottle in your room/the nursery. Until they're opened they're fine at room temperature, and Joanna is happy to drink room temp formula without it being warmed, so worth a try with Blair too?

Bucky - I still have the little green frog song in my head!

ecuse · 09/09/2011 21:42

Oh yeah, highchairs. I wanted an IKEA Antilop for all the reasons outlined, but we need to buy a folding one as we're in a one-bed flat at the moment until we can move (sodding slow housing market...) and we simply don't have the space to keep it up all the time. So far as I can tell there's no getting away from padded seats on folding/not expensive ones, so we went withthis one - £30 from kiddicare. Just arrived today. She's a bit small for it yet - will prob need a cushion or something behind her back to get her close enough to the tray, but it's another 6 weeks or so before we're going to wean (she's 19 weeks now)

Sassy20 · 09/09/2011 22:19

Like the highchair Ecuse Smile

gingerbubs · 09/09/2011 23:03

Oh I am another app user, keep meaning to post but it is such a pain. Have been following the thread and will try to post properly soon!

kittycatcat · 10/09/2011 07:43

I can't share this in rl so am telling u lovely ladies. My friend has just found out she is pregnant. They had been trying for almost 3 years and have just had their 2nd ivf. does a little dance

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 10/09/2011 07:52

On my phone so sorry for not name-checking properly!

Kitty - yay for your friend, what lovely news! And yes I would go away.

Arch - happy anniversary Smile

Wedding today. I have found some surgical tape at my parents, so I'm going to try taping myself up in lieu of a bra. Roll on 4.30pm when I can get changed and put one on!!!

No wake ups from DS1 last night despite the fact that we're away from home. T woke when we went to bed, and then once more so pretty good.

fraktious · 10/09/2011 08:26

Fizz glad you got seen and sorted. Much better safe than sorry.

Yay for surviving that first week buck

arch bugger about the tyre but Wink good for you telling off the receptionist! Hope you had a lovely anniversary.

ILTME I want one of those party bags.

I can?t believe how expensive pump hire is Shock I?m glad I bought my Ameda now. We had a, by our standards, good night, last night. Down by 8.30, awake and fussy but settled by me and then DH without feeding, feed at midnight (and complete change of nappy and sleepsuit because he managed to wiggle it down over his bum Hmm), feed at 4.30, feed just before 7 and then he went back to sleep so I did as well! Rugby day today. I?m not going to mention the amount of TV M will be exposed to this month to the paed. She had a proper go at us last month because M wouldn?t take his eyes off her screensaver. Honestly, light + movement = fascinating for a baby and she seems to think his fixation with screens, which we try to limit his exposure to, means he?s a little square eyes Angry I need to persuade DH to go shopping for a trip-trapp (or similar) and some foam tiles to put on the floor as M has discovered headbanging but all our floors are tiled!

kitty congrats to your friend

Ali good luck with the dress

Watching the rugby now! I was most confused by the TV announcing ?et c?est le japonnais, James Aldridge!? France aren?t holding up too well ? 25-21 with nearly 20 mins to go. Can?t wait for England-Argentina later, I have popcorn ready, DH has beer, M, unfortunately, doesn?t have a little England supporter t-shirt or body. Anyone got any idea where it might be possible to get one in the UK?

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe80nappies · 10/09/2011 08:59

Frak enjoy the match! T will be watching the whole world cup also Grin
He has got a little England shirt which my brother bought for DS1. You can order them from the RFU shop on the Twickenham website. Size up though, the shirt we have is 12-18 and fits T now!

Natzer · 10/09/2011 10:06

Ali can I just say thanks for the tip on the baby rugby stuff, its DHs birthday this week and I bought him a new rugby shirt, I thought that I had scoured the site and not found any baby stuff, just looked a little harder and bought a white England rugby baby grow!! how cute! Grin

fraktious · 10/09/2011 10:23

Babygro? Where?!

OP posts:
fraktious · 10/09/2011 10:32

Oooh found. Along with a cute set of home/change bodies.

Need to get them for France now I suppose...

OP posts:
DairyBeetle · 10/09/2011 12:22

Rugby household here as well! The baby rugby stuff may now be S's Christmas present. DH is currently trying to decide whether he'd like a shirt for himself, he's basically sat going "shirt...IPad? Shirt...IPad?" Grin

ILTMIMI Can you do party bags for my birthday?!

Frak S has a bit of a screen fixation, though I've noticed that he looks more at certain things: The Simpsons, Stargate, the opening credits to BBC News, and Pointless. I'm assuming it's the colours or the music that he likes. Also he currently likes Photobooth on the Mac, that funny looking baby from the mirror is there!

Buck Yay for week one down!

Cycle Hope your first day back goes well (that's this morning isn't?)

Arch Go you for telling the receptionist! (And I love the phrase 'Cheeky Bessom') I'm glad you're all ok after the tyre fiasco.

Waves at Ecuse nice to see you! And you too Gingerbubs

Highchairs we have the Ikea Antilop too. I really like it, plus it matches our red sofa (open plan downstairs so not as bonkers as it sounds to match highchair and sofa!)

Right, best go sort out rescue DH's washing, I've never known someone struggle so much with simple sorting of colours!

GlaikitFizzog · 10/09/2011 12:36

Bugger forgot about the rugby! Still even if I did remember wild horses couldn't have dragged me from my pit this morning. F1 on now.

Dh has just asked for the scotland rugby shirt for his birthday. How am I going to get out of that one?????Confused

Cyclebump · 10/09/2011 21:15

Hurray! Rugby chat, H went out with DP in his rugby top to join the team for a rugby breakfast at the club.

Happy anniversary Arch, hope you got spoiled.

Love the party bags ILTMIMI Smile

Music school went ok and H was a very good baby all morning for DP and the rest of the team. My boobs were killing me though! A new parent with an attitude was rude to me and complained about me to my boss but he backed me all the way and said that if she withdrew her child it would be a good thing. Not what I needed on day one but hey ho.

Starshaped · 10/09/2011 23:27

It's unbelievably hot and stuffy in our house tonight, can't get DD's room below 25 degrees. She woke an hour ago (before her dreamfeed) and won't resettle now, even after a big feed. I'm sure it's the heat.

Arch, I sense a long night ahead! I knew the recent run of good nights wouldn't last...
