Od luck with work GGF.

I've done the rant and delete Buck. I missed the original post so unassuming it was a moment of 'I want to scream, aaaaaaargh!' frustration.

H slept til 5.30am, hurray! He then decided to wake up for the day, boooooooo!

fraktious · 10/10/2011 06:22

Good luck today GGF

We had a lovely weekend, really busy, and weaning is going so well, and then DH spoilt it all last night. He just doesn't think about anyone except himself sometimes and he can be so insensitive Angry I didn't have time to express because we were so busy so was feeling stressed and pressured last night, add that to a nonsettling DS that he huffed about having to get up to cuddle back to sleep as I was pumping (unsettled because he was teething! Give calpol, hush back to sleep, happy baby), a messy salon and kitchen because we had someone to dinner and general tiredness from consecutive 6.15 starts and I was in a proper stress sulk. And not about to apologise.

But we did beach BBQ, had anglophone friends to stay Saturday night so roast beef with Yorkshires and then did a hike with a newly arrived expat on Sunday (with DS in sling firstly front wrapped then double hammocked- so comfy and secure!) and new chap stayed for dinner so it was a fab, busy weekend.

buck hope you're okay

JKS ditto and if you link to thread I'll add my thoughts.

cycle owwwwww - get better soon!

Sorry everyone else, rubbish memory! Have hugs or Grin as appropriate.

Today is going to be a long day, I've lost my temper with one class already and we're only on number 2...

Good luck today GGF!

Crap night here. Oh I was so hoping T would be a sleeper after DS1!

DairyBeetle · 10/10/2011 09:25

Good luck GGF I'll be in your shoes tomorrow so know just how you feel!

I'm now bricking it about going back to work tomorrow. S didn't settle well at the nursery when I left him for the morning on Friday. (I could here him crying as I left, and all the way up the street thanks to open windows and wind direction. I was sobbing myself by that point! S also wasn't happy when I picked him up at lunch and had been very clingy with the staff all morning). I knew it would be hard leaving him but I met some friends after I picked him up and I apparently looked very shaken (S was fine by this point, I was wobbly for the rest of the day!).

My worries have been made worse as S picked up a cold while at the nursery and has been very up and down all weekend culminating in a lot of throwing up, screaming and high temp last night. Cue two changes of clothes for me and S, one for DH, sofa covers in wash, duvet covers from my bed, lots of cuddles and eventually he fell asleep on me. Where I was stuck, sat up right all night. I'm a bit of a zombie today to say the least, though apart from snotty, having trouble feeding and tired S seem back to his usually smiley self and when not conked out on me he's happily rolling/sitting/generally throwing himself around. If I could I'd keep him cuddled up at home but have a doctors apt this afternoon so am going to have to go out.

Cycle Ouch! I had a similar tea meets boobs incident when I was a teenager, I was wearing my first padded bra for the first time which just soaked up all the tea to carry on scalding me...I don't wear padded bras anymore!

JKS I've seen your other thread but couldn't add more to what had been said (apart from some choice words about the teacher!)

Buck I'm another 'post' and delete person, do it with emails too (though less now after I once sent the email instead if deleting..)

Arch Air balloon ride sounds amazing! I wish I were brave enough to go on one.

Frakk I'm glad you had a nice weekend (despite the rugby Sad ) and hopefully DH will make it up to you this evening.

Sorry if I missed people but if I have I hope you and yours all well!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/10/2011 12:19

Good luck today Ggy ! My mum passed me one of her old books and it's a novel about Guernsey during the occupation and there is a great description of gache in it. It sounds divine.

Cycle, hope the scolds are better today, it sounds awful. Blisters? Ouch.

Glad to hear S is feeling better Beetle. It still amazes me how well babies and children deal with illnesses.

The sale went well yesterday and I'm knackered today! I didn't sell all of my stuff, but I also didn't buy that much, so overall I reckon I made money. I got some fab retro duplo blocks. Ds is very pleased. He now has a duplo toilet, windmill, caravan, 3 piece suite, kitchen and animals. Quite an eclectic mix, but he's well chuffed. The duplo made a bloody racket going round the washing machine though!

It's going to be a quiet day here today I think, due to my knackeredness. Ds2 has already been feral running around the garden in just a tshirt. He must like the wind around his bits as it is very windy here today.

chillikat · 10/10/2011 15:58

Crap night here too :( Fine up to 11 after we'd just got to sleep then every hour and a half. She was clearly tired as she kept dropping off on our shoulders but would wake and cry when put in her cot. Tried lots of feeding, calpol, bonjela and finally sat in bed with her for a bit around 4 then she finally went back down to 8ish. Now I'm knackered and irritable and have already snapped at her few times this afternoon. I'm not surprised she's hard to get to nap she's probably scared of snappy mummy :(

Hope everyone has better nights tonight.

Cyclebump · 10/10/2011 17:07

Oh dear Chilli and Beetle, hope the nights improve.

I forgot to say Arch, I too am Envy at the balloon ride.

Much better night for H last night but the scald marks remain. Luckily there was no padded bra! Also, my first aid training kicked in and I threw the hot water bottle into the sink, stripped naked, jumped in the shower and put it on very cold. I then held cold flannels against it, changing them regularly. I've got a livid red streak on the left boob, a couple of purply red marks on the right, plus a purply blister an inch long and half an inch wide on the right too Sad I also have a streak couple of inches above my right wrist.

The blisters flattening out and I've been religiously sudocremming after DP remembered it's good for burns and scalds.

I'm the one who broke a wrist playing rounders last year too, I'm just super clumsy. Sigh.

chillikat · 10/10/2011 17:11

Ooh cycle that sounds really painful. Hope it gets better soon. I'm grateful my clumsiness just means I've always got a bruise somewhere - shins at the moment from trying to lift the pram in over the step gently while M is asleep.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 10/10/2011 17:28

Cycle that sounds really painful :( If it starts to get red around it, or any pus comes then you should probably go to the GP incase it is infected. Ouch ouch.

chilli - don't be too hard on yourself, it is so hard when you've had a really rough night.

Beetle - good luck for tomorrow! Sounds like a horrid couple of days with all that vomiting. Fingers crossed S has got over the worst of his bug.

T has at least had a decent nap today, so perhaps he will then settle a bit better at bedtime. DH and I are knackered! We are going on holiday on Saturday and while I hope it is lovely there is part of me thinking 'argh' about being away from home and having disturbed nights.
Poor boy has got about 4 teeth cutting all at once. He has got 4 through already - he's going to have all 8 front ones within the next week or so I reckon.

Is it possible to employ someone to come to your house for about an hour and a half starting at around 4.30pm (aka The Witching Hour), to keep a grumpy toddler and screamy baby amused and quiet while I have a cuppa and get the dinner ready? I would be prepared to pay quite a lot for this to happen!! Grin [worn out emoticon]

Starshaped · 10/10/2011 17:35

Owh again Cycle. That sounds so painful. Good job you knew what to do and didn't panic. Hopefully that'll help it heal quicker.

Fingers crossed that those in need have improved sleep tonight. We didn't have a great night either, largely because the lurgy is spreading round the house and DH is now suffering (and not particularly quietly (hmm) ) I'm worried about P catching it. We've both felt awful with it, so am worried about how nasty it would be for her Sad.

Hope that the first day back at work wasn't too painful GGY

Starshaped · 10/10/2011 17:39

Oh yes, good luck tomorrow Dairy.

X post Ali - maybe we could hire somebody on a job share basis! The witching hour is underway here. P's only slept for an hour since 7am this morning so is in a right nark...

BuckminsterFullerene · 10/10/2011 18:22

cycle that sounds awful. Do get it looked at, especially since it's blistered.

Chilli that's tough, and remarkably similar to what we've had for a while. Last night was better in that he finally went to sleep at 10, then woke every 2 hrs till we got up at 6. But he at least went back to sleep without a fuss.

Colleagues are suggesting we try a bottle of formula about 10pm. I think getting him to take a bottle instead of boob at bedtime especially is doomed to failure. But we might get to that point.

I'm getting a coil tonight! Grin

BuckminsterFullerene · 10/10/2011 18:23

Oh, and good luck Beetle, and hope today went well GGF

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/10/2011 19:24

Lol at the smiley about getting a coil fitted!

Gawd Ali, I know what you mean about the witching hour. Ds2 starts being a leetle bit naughty (hungry and tired), ds3 kicks off (hungry and tired and wants to be attached to me). Dinner needs to be cooked and served.

I would sell my body of an evening to pay for someone to come in from 4-6. Mind you, i'mnot sure I'd make enough to cover the wages Grin

I also know what you mean about going on holiday. We decided not to go this year, but next April instead. Just remember the first night is the worst. The kids are hyper and a little unsure of being in a new place and then you and dh are knackered - a combination made in hell. But, it gets better from then on!

I think tiredness is making us clumsy. I dropped a four pack of baked beans on my toe. Feck, it hurts like a bastard.

Cyclebump · 10/10/2011 19:44

Have a GP appointment booked this week anyway so will whip my baps out for him just in case Smile

Ow ow ow ILTMIMI.

Hope the lurgy retreats Star.

JKSLtd · 10/10/2011 20:31

Lol Cycle :)

Ouch ILike!!

Well the ideal person around that time is a teenager. Home from school, happy to work for little but regular money. As long as you can find one that's good with kids - toddler/young kids love playing with older kids (who they see as adults anyway) so get some games/puzzles out and let them get on with it. Lock yourself in the kitchen with baby and get tea sorted :)

DD woke last night about 2.30 - was gong to feed her automatically then paused, gave her a dummy and she went back to sleep, yey.

link for other thread is here

Starshaped · 10/10/2011 20:38

Just read your other thread JKS. I can't add anything even vaguely useful I'm afraid, but think that the teacher sounds like a thoughtless old boot Angry. I hope that everything goes well at your meeting tomorrow.

GsyGacheFiend · 10/10/2011 23:08

As expected baby P was fine in my absence today. I woke her at 6.45 and gave her a good BF on leftie and then fed her rightie before going out the door at 7.45am. She had most of an 8oz bottle at 10.30/11. There was another bottle made up if she wanted some after her lunch, but she was quite happy and didn't need it so she had a nice cuddle and BF when I got back at 1.45. Smile

ali No witching hour, it was an entire witching day here today for DS.
He's been clinging like a limpet Sad. He didn't want me to go to work, he had earache Hmm, tummyache Hmm, wanted cuddles. Then when I got home he didn't want my mum to go to work either.

He spent the entire afternoon trying to climb onto me for cuddles and having hysterics if I said I couldn't for the moment because I needed to feed/change P, go to the loo, put the oven on... you get the idea.

P got in on the act too and would only nap at the breast. She did have a couple of good stints attacking her playmat though. I managed to get a Brew and a slice of gache Grin for my lunch at about 3.45 which I then had to eat with DS glued on my lap.
We had frozen pizza for tea and that I even managed to get that in the oven is a near miracle. To get that done I resorted to putting P in the buggy in front of Cbeebies with a miserable DS for company. This did nothing to inprove his mood as P protested greated to being put down so he couldn't hear the TV. I on the otherhand had my mood much improved as I took refuge behind the childgate in the kitchen for 5 minutes whilst cooking P's veg and had an Aero biscuit or two Blush.

DH got in just after 6 and haD P thrust upon him as he does P's bath, bottle and bedtime. I do DS. I find it funny that now when I'm just just looking after one of the DC it feels like a break.
All kudos to you for managing 3 ILTMI. Loved your description of your DS in the garden BTW. I'm finding it hard to coax DS back into his pants after letting him go bare whilst he had chicken pox. I keep finding pairs abandoned around the house Grin

Hopefully tomorrow DS will be more himself, if not it will definately be yesterday's leftover roast turkey and spaghetti hoops for tea.

Work in its self was fine. Good luck for tomorrow beetle. It was like i'd never been away really. I enjoy my job and work with a nice bunch of people which definately helps.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 10/10/2011 23:13

GGF that day sounds a nightmare, and oh so familiar! Grin

T is still awake, he just will not switch off. He wants to chat, play, taste the whole house, talk to the furniture.

Cyclebump · 11/10/2011 08:27

Eugh, was on the sofa from 4am with clingy wriggler baby full of snot. Lovely.

architien · 11/10/2011 09:51

cycle that sounds ouch. Hope it's healing properly now.
Good luck to all those going back to work. Hope you get to grips with the ropes quickly and enjoy your days.

Boiler scrapage scheme is noted and will be used once there is a little more -any- spare cash, thank you :) On the other hand there is good news I have given in an bought a fridge freezer on 0% buy now pay in a year which was reduced in the first place so a decent model (and it's lovely, can't wait for it to arrive a week tomorrow):
loveliest FF in the world One more week of bucket in garden system and then back to fresh food. Hurrah the end is nigh!

Birth support group I'm doing with another lady has it's first meeting and it went well.

R had her first non- liquid poo. I wouldn't call it solid but maybe describe it as next stage. She was so surprised! She went purple with grunting and then after laughed.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/10/2011 10:00

Gache - thank you for the compliment on my mothering skills, but it is unwarranted. Ds1 died when he was 18mo, so the first time I have looked after multiple children is when ds3 was born. I can now imagine that your hand has flown up to your mouth and that you feel awful. However please don't. I mentioned ds1 when I first joined the thread, probably about a year ago, but I certainly don't expect everyone to remember my life story! So please, don't be embarrassed - and I really mean that.

Also, I have another Guernsey question for you. Is there really a pre historic tomb on the island? It has been mentioned in my book. ( the collaborator, Margaret Leroy)

Good luck today beetle.

Hope you get some sleep today Cycle.

Tis a lovely breezy and bright day here today Smile

GlaikitFizzogOnaNeepyLantern · 11/10/2011 11:05

I have no idea where my days are going now. B is practically mobile now, not crawling, but he comandos backwards Hmm or rolls. So no leaving him lying on the play mat while I MN get on with things! I want to avoid getting a jail playpen but can't think of anything else that will keep him contained without me having to go and re-site him every 2 minutes. Anyone got a brilliant idea??

Weaning is going well as you may have seen on FB :o! We are doing a combination of BLW and purees. Mainly fruit and veg, but gave him a wee bit of chicken the other night but he didn't see that keen! I even overcame my irrational fear of bananas yesterday and gave him some cut up. Urgh slimey yuk yuk yuk :o

Arch, good news on the FF, love the colour :o! I was almost offering you my one because we're getting a new one when we do the kitchen soon, but that would leave us without so hardly solving a problem!

Cycle ouch ouch ouch! I almost joined you yesterday. I made up Bs bottle and we've started putting the tippy cup handles on his bottles to get him used to feeding himself. Only thing is they only function as handles when the teet is screwed on. Q 8 ounces of almost boiling water down my front! Fortunatly no blisters here.

JKS hope you get somewhere with the school.

There are more people I was goign to name check, but I've forgotten Confused. So sorry!!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 11/10/2011 12:05

ILike I'm so sorry , I hadn't cottoned on where you were talking about DS2 and 3 :(

arch - yay for having a fridge!

Fizz - I'm having a similar dilemma with T. We have got a baby gym thing that is an inflatable ring which I'm still using for now. He can climb out, but it takes him a few minutes so it gives me a chance to go for a wee!
If I need to do things in the kitchen then I have him in there with me, either in his highchair or buggy. We have got a fireguard arriving today to prevent him braining himself on the hearth, and then the living room is safe for him - the hearth is new since we had DS1 and the rest of the room was baby and toddler-proofed long ago Grin
Can you baby-proof one room and then let him get on with it?

T slept 11.30-7.15! Longest stretch for quite some time. If he would do it every nigh I might start to feel human again.

We have been to look at primary for DS1 this morning, it is lovely and I think would suit him really well. Now we just have to hope he can get a place - it is our catchment school so we should be ok.

architien · 11/10/2011 12:31

Ok if you weren't already under the impression that I was potty you will be soon. I'd been pondering primary school whens and ifs. I'm in Scotland and their school terms seem to be different which I think is jamming a cog in my brain because I can't work out:

  1. When my two would be eligable to go to primary
  2. If I could place them at school so that they were older in the class or not
I know this sounds daft but because the brain is mush and the cog is jammed I just can't get my head round these things. Anyway Here's the thread if anyone fancies it.
