Ha ha! ILTMIMI when I looked at your link, this is what other people bought when the bought the cutter WHY? :o

Kitty, sorry xposted with you last night, Yay for the rolling! B had a much better night, woke at 5.45, but just needed a nappy change, then went back down until 8.30. Can't complain with that!

Blowing raspberries is now Bs favourite thing to do. He thinks its hillarious! I must admit it is rather cute!

Watching the news about those trapped miners in Wales, so :(, I just hope they can get to the other 3 in time.

Cyclebump · 16/09/2011 09:45

H is also a raspberry blower, I wish he hadn't done it at some rather dodgy blokes as I carried him the sling the other day. It was, ahem, awkward.

caramellokoalalover · 16/09/2011 10:17

That crinkle cutter looks brilliant ILTMIMI, thanks for the tip.

Star, can't remember exactly where you are but are there any local cinemas doing mother and baby screenings? Brilliant for a rainy day.

cycle can you go to mum's group anyway and just keep H in the buggy or sling? Or would that be frowned upon? Seems a shame to miss out. Uness he's miserable in which case it wouldn't be any fun anyway. Given your night last night maybe a day of napping when H does is in order?

S has had a few nights in a row now of only 2 feeds. I'm trying not to get complacent...she'll sniff out my complacency and change it up on me Grin.

Cyclebump · 16/09/2011 10:22

I thought about the sling, but one of the other babies was premature and is only about four months old. A friend whose baby was prem was warned about their lungs being susceptible to infection and if a robust H is taking a long time to fight it off I would worry about the other baby catching it. We're popping to the shops later then DP has offered to give me a bit of time to rest as I'm working tomorrow.

kittycatcat · 16/09/2011 10:26

Ladies I'm switching s to formula at the start of oct. I've loved bf him but I'm back to work nov 14th and need to get him settled onto it in good time. Tips? How do I get him to stop going for my boobs? Which formula? S will be 4 and a half months so I cant use follow on yet. Anything else I need to know?

fraktious · 16/09/2011 10:54

What. A. Week. Crappy sleep, teething hell, work is terribly busy (I don?t have time to handhold 250 students, really I don?t) and I feel a crappy mummy for leaving him when he?s so teeny anyway.

Is it even a week since I last posted? I?m going to try to namecheck but sorry if I miss you!

First of all I want to join the luff from about 3 pages back. Mwah mwah all round.

kitty no beaba babycook here although I was quite tempted and the Phillips Avent one is on offer at the moment but a) we have no space and b) we have a perfectly good food processer on the other side of the world so we really don?t need one which does tiny portions. Hurrah for rolling. Formula is trial and error ? I personally recommend Hipp Organic, it?s the only one which doesn?t taste foul. Otherwise Aptamil is supposed to be good. I?ve never met a baby who got on well with cow & gate but SMA is also pretty good. Have you started on bottles yet? Can you transition by mixing formula with EBM? Are you planning to keep a morning or evening BF?

arch congrats! Well done for all your hard work ? I?m sure hundreds of women will appreciate it, even if they don?t know who you are.

cycle my sympathies :( we have shit nights here too. Bloody teeth. But at least co-sleeping and boob sorts it out.

caramello grrr to your neighbours. I fear we are the horrible noisy neighbours in our apartment block but we?re top floor so at least don?t get stamping around.

JKS brownies Envy

Fizz I might need to pum (please excuse the pun, although it was intentional) for advice on expressing for a friend who?s just had her little one and he won?t feed. Doctor is insisting there?s no problem and he?s gotten lazy from having a syringe but she?s exhausting herself pumping.

ILTMI how are you getting on with the slinging? Did you master the rebozo w/ slipknot? I learnt a fabby new carry last week as well ? insta-fit and easy tensioning ? for about the same size wrap. Basically you put it over one shoulder, tie at the elbow (which ensures it?s the right size), shift the knot up to the middle of your back, put baby in pouch and turn it down over the should to tension it correctly.

dairy Grin

I feel so guilty about not starting him on food. He?s watching like a hawk, he can sit, he has teeth, he has no tongue thrust but we?re not even 5 months yet so I don?t really want to start him on purees. I think we?re at 21 weeks now (time flies!) What to do?! We have a paeds appointment next week (I hope) but DH probably won?t be able to come and I have no idea what baby led weaning is in French to ask for advice. They?re terribly pro puree here! I?ve come to the conclusion that I can legitimately hold off for another few weeks without getting told off but by the 6 month appointment I?d better say I have actually given him some food.

For our rugby fans M now has a sleepsuit and 2 bodies ready for tomorrow Grin Mummy 1, Daddy 0. Or does my order count as a converted try in which case Mummy 7, Daddy 0. Either way England beat France and the world is put to rights.

JoEW · 16/09/2011 11:38

Hi all.

Trying to catch up but we can talk, ladies, so apologies for not namechecking everyone.

Frak hope you have a better week next week. I think there's guilt about leaving them, whatever age, so don't beat yourself up too much. I'm also counting down the weeks till work starts and worrying about how he'll react to nursery. And that he won't get fed properly and no one else knows how to get him to nap and how it will be awful, awful, awful etc. I know that he'll get used to it and love it.

Cycle you poor thing. You are having such a tough time with nights. I really feel for you. It might be too late for today but I wouldn't worry too much about going out with colds even with prems about. All my prem mum friends have been very chilled about colds, even the ones who's babies are still on oxygen. My view is that you can't control what germs they come into contact with so trying to is pretty pointless. C has had one cold already and if the volume of his crying is anything to go by his lungs are just dandy.

Ilike hope you're feeling better too.

Dairy Hell fire.

Arch nice work!

Caramel noisy neighbours are vile. We have a mother and older daughter next door and they scream at one another for about an hour at least once a day. They are very odd indeed. Maybe pop a copy of Gina Ford through the letter box?

Had a lovely time in France and even had an evening meal out with DH, which was wonderful. My mum is besotted with C and was desperate to hold him all the time. Very sweet and also useful. However, having done hols to the Lakes and France in fairly quick succession C's routine is all over the place and he's waking up at odd times. He's woken up during the evening for feeds the last two nights, which is unheard of. Hope he settles back down soon - I'm thinking it's almost time for his own room but I want him in a good routine again first.

I'm off for lunch with my friend and her four week old daughter. She's so teeny and newborn-y. I can't even remember C being that small.

chillikat · 16/09/2011 12:20

Hi all,
It seems to have been a while since my last post - it's been a busy week. We're off to the north west this afternoon for the weekend - my dad is in hospital after a mild heart attack, though his main issue now is boredom. My mum is excited about seeing M again who will do doubt be showing off her rolling skills. I just found she'd rolled across the floor while I was in the kitchen for 2 minutes making a cup of tea :o Well done to all of you who have managed holidays with babies - just a couple of nights at my mum's seems to be a huge planning exercise. I think M will be testing the travel cot there this weekend as I think she's too big for the carrycot now. Like Jo I'm thinking it must be time for her own room soon - I really like her in our room but she'll be growing out of the crib and there's no room for the cotbed in our room.
Weaning is going well - she seems to like most purees and keeps opening her mouth for more spoonfuls, it just creates lots of mess.

Arch well done. A few of our breatfeeding group were interviewed about maternity services by local radio on Wednesday, so the desire for the MLU to reopen was highlighted again. Lots of women at the group wouldn't be breastfeeding without it as it provides postnatal care even if you gave birth at the hospital.

Hope everyone's sleep improves over the weekend.

kittycatcat · 16/09/2011 14:04

chilli hope ur dad is ok.

frak I plan to do a night feed, ta

fraktious · 16/09/2011 15:32

Oh gosh chilli hope your dad's okay.

The reason I asked kitty was because it would change the way/time I introduced formula IYSWIM? If you plan to keep a night feed then I'd get him used to bottles in the morning with EBM first, then formula/EBM and increase the proportions until he's on full bottles. That will also help your supply adjust down because you don't want to go completely cold turkey in case you get mastitis or similar. Others would probably approach it differently though and if necessary M would just have to have straight formula.

OP posts:
kittycatcat · 16/09/2011 15:50

Gotya. He has expressed if I'm not around but won't take a bottle if I am out. So express and give him that. Alternate with formula? Then night feed?

fraktious · 16/09/2011 16:15

Pure EBM, then 50/50 EBM/formula then pure formula. Otherwise he might go Hmm at the taste.

If he won't do it that way try formula in a bottle. Some babies will accept that but not EBM. I think they're thinking 'smells like boob, tastes like boob, isn't boob. WTF? Gimme real boob!'

OP posts:
kittycatcat · 16/09/2011 16:50

Haha. Thanks frak

Sassy20 · 16/09/2011 22:30

Kitty L has aptimil 1 and seems to like it. It's what a friend of mines Mum, who's a former midwife, recommended.

kittycatcat · 17/09/2011 03:47

I am having such a shit night. I've had about 2hrs15 sleep. S has fed twice for an hour each time and is now feeding again. Growth spurt? Teething? [sobs]

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 17/09/2011 08:05

Kitty I hope you got some sleep in the end. Shit night here too, T and DS1 working in a relay to ensure as little sleep as possible for DH and I.

Teeth, growth spurt, hunger, sheer bloody-mindedness. Take your pick!

We are going to my grandma's for the weekend and I think we are going to need the roofbox to fit in all the stuff (buggy, bed, highchair etc) Confused

kittycatcat · 17/09/2011 09:02

Yeah all of the above Ali
not much sleep. Dh got up with him but his knee is still sore so I had to get up after an hour to settle him. Cue another fight to sleep. He did a massive poo this am so could have been tummy ache.
Have a lovely weekend.

fraktious · 18/09/2011 06:34

Argh the bastard tooth is still not through and we're running low on teething powder and my parents are put the country so can't send me any more

It had better appear pdq or we're screwed.

I was going to bitch about DH but teething crisis has eclipsed this.

Incidentally never, ever watch Dora the explorer in French. Ever. It's AWFUL.

OP posts:
GsyGacheFiend · 18/09/2011 09:15

OMG Dora, I hate it with an absolute vengeance. All their shouty whining voices.

IMHO Peppa Pig is far superior, although even that is having a break at the moment as our telly has been "broken" for 2 weeks now. Wink

I still havn't moved P out of the moses into her room, but surely she'd wake up if it was too small for her Smile

kitty hope you had a better time last night.

kittycatcat · 18/09/2011 10:15

Equally shite night Angry. Gonna give it a couple more nights and if no improvement start on formula. Got his third injections tomorrow!

If I see the powder in our crappy little boots would u like me to get u some frak?

Cyclebump · 18/09/2011 12:27

Slightly better night last night and DP decided to watch the rugby at 5.45am so took H and I went back to bed until 8!Smile

We've told people now so I suppose I can say it...

My birthday present was a rather lovely ring. We decided to get hitched while i was pregnant and DP was adamant I should have a ring. We're still hoping to pull off a 'We got married last week' kind of deal as we want it super tiny.

kittycatcat · 18/09/2011 18:05

Awh congrats cycleGrin

Cyclebump · 18/09/2011 18:17

Thanks Kitty, I'm hoping you'll get some sleep soon, sounds like you're really suffering. I'm also hoping the jabs won't mess your babe up the way they did H. Although, if your nights are already bad at least you're well practised. Can your other half give you a lie in at any point? I feel so much better after getting one this morning while the rugby was on.

H has napped well today so we're hoping he's finally fighting off the snot tide!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 18/09/2011 18:59

Cycle congratulations! Grin

'goin' to the chapel and we're
gonna get ma-a-arried'

We had another crap night last night while we were away. DS1 woke up and was really loud and upset which woke T who then didn't really settle back to sleep properly. Gah.

Sassy20 · 18/09/2011 20:15

Congratulations Cycle, what a lovely birthday present. Smile
