Hello. Think i was first to deliver off the September EDD thread so waving to see if anyone else out there yet to join me :)
Had my 2nd DD on 26aug by C-sec. We now home but struggling with BF and baby lost 10% body weight in 3days. Started to top up with formula in syringe to try give cracked. Bleeding nipples a rest, but milk is starting to drip out now leaking everywhere! Hoping for a better night tonight after 3nights of hourly feeds and snatching 2-3hrs of sleep.
Anyone else struggling too?

Ha ha, we turned the duvet round last night! Grin

dd1 holds books for me to read - generally Winnie the Pooh etc! Although she did ask me to read her PS I Love You - like I need that kind of emotional read right now, plus dd1 is 3!

dtds have been diagnosed with tongue tie which explains all the problems with bfing. I knew something wasn't right and flagged it up when they were in SCBU but as they were putting on weight they weren't interested. Finally someone listened to me.

Evening ladies LO is currently on a growth spurt at the age of three weeks has outgrown all his newborn clothes and is drinking milk like there is no tomorrow!
Having his BCG done tomorrow so no doubt lots of tears from me and hopefully not many from him thank god daddy is coming to hold him while he is having it done!
Lo also seems to have a bit of trapped wind maybe due to the amount of milk he has been drinking I just feel so helpless!

So far we have had no sick on the duvet (bet it happens tonight now!)
Went to read my kindle earlier while he was sleeping only to find it totally dead so waiting for it to charge now.

Have a good evening ladies may it bring lots of sleep and not alot of sick!

This will make you laugh my Lo been vunhappy at times today her bunged nose making it hard for her to stay latched on and feed. So after yet another crying on off feed I said to DH can you try giving her 10ml breast milk in oral syringe just so I know she getting some fluids. He gets her to take it but then few minutes later she vomits whole lot up and some more in his crotch all over his jeans. He said he had to get them off straight away it might burn through onto his 'bits'.... errr what I say...well if it had stomach acid in it don't want it hurting the wedding tackle :o I nearly fell off the sofa laughing.
Hope those with vomiting babes have gd washing machines I dread our water bill it was already £42 a month (SW has highest rates) since Lo arrived machine has been on daily! How can someone SO small create SO much washing and I'm not even using the reusable nappies yet!
Feeling better today plus had 45min nap at 4pm today as Lo stayed asleep when we bought her in from car and finally got manual breast pump to work :) found the replacement valve and it worked straight away got 80mls in 6mins. Poor boob vsore as Lo not feeding properly I was getting vuncomfortable. We had 8wk DR check today. But I delayed her jabs to next wk as she been SO under the weather with cold. The DR didn't check me at all, not even my scar? This happened last time why do they call it mother& baby check when its so not?
Hope u all have non sicky sleeping night

Evening folks had a rotten day but think I prevented mastitis, or the adrenal of today has stopped it in it's tracks!

Is it wring that I am so looking forward to dd going to nursery tomorrow as last week was half term?

Minkyjj · 25/10/2011 01:41

Feral princess and smile. - the duvet tricks made me laugh - have been out today to get a thicker duvet so havechanged the sheets and told lo that he is not getting near them tonight as I would like the bed to stay dry !
Jojo - bcg will be fine - he will calm down quicker than you do ! Good luck
Lovebeingawitch - no it's perfectly normal to look forward to the end of school
holidays (most normal mummies count the sleeps !)
I am feeling a bit ropey tonight - not sure why just feel crappy - really hope I am not sickening for something - could be the little old straw that breaks the camels already dodgy back.
Lo not settling tonight - feeds and falls asleep on boob then awake in basket grumbling 5 minutes later - I so want to go to sleep !

sebs71 · 25/10/2011 12:14

Sorry haven't posted for a while, but have been reading each day, whilst expressing - just can't manage typing on the phone as well, but have lap top out now. Sorry everyone has colds - hope everyone feels better soon, particuarly if Little Ones have anything. I thought I was coming down with something - achy limbs etc, but think it was more tiredness as went during yesterday.

We've got a choice to make each night - do we go for a good night's sleep that's uncomfortable or a bad night's sleep that's comfy... i.e. either she sleeps in our bed, and that means she sleeps well, but we're teetering on the edge, not able to move much, on the ends of the pillows, which has meant I've now pulled muscles around my C Section scar area and feel like I'm back at week one after birth stage, OR we get her to try and sleep in the Moses Basket - which she really seems to struggle with, and you get about 2 hours sleep during the night. Not sure why she manages to sleep ok in our bed - it's not like we're snuggled up to her, we give her lots of room - she's in a gro-bag so it's no different to the basket. Just hoping she settles a bit more soon, and we can get her back to the basket - she's 6 weeks on Friday.

I also can't believe how much more washing there seems to be now - and it's just one little person that's been added to a family of four! We seem to have doubled the washing amounts! Must wash about 50 muslins each day (ok, that's an exaggeration!)...!!

Anyway, hope you all ok, getting better and getting better sleeps...

ssmile · 25/10/2011 15:49

sebs neither of our DD slept well in basket, with this one she was happier sleeping on fleece blanket in the basket as softer &warmer. I put this Lo in her crib at 5wks she slept much better normally at least first half night then second half in bed with me. Our Lo likes to sleep both arms above her head and she can't do that in mosses basket, if I want to wake her up in daytime I put her our bAsket :o

Woohoo, DS slept for 4 straight hours last night then another 2, I feel like a new woman. It is amazing how you re evaluate what a 'good night's sleep' is. He was pooing all day yesterday so I think he had a good clear out which helped. We are using infacol so that may be helping too. Princess, glad you can finally get your DD's sorted, my friends baby had this and she now BF in 'jockey position', baby sits astride her leg, upright, facing boob, looks odd but works for them. Had 6 week check up today and baby now 8.4lb so doing really well and sleeping next to me now (I even got some jobs done around the house Smile) Is probably too much to hope for a repeat night but have been able to express 4.5 oz in 2 goes today (have only ever got 2oz before) so DH can do a feed and let me sleep Grin Hope I have not been seen as rubbing it in to any of you, hope you all had some sleep and get more tonight.

sebs71 · 25/10/2011 18:04

Ssmile - that's a good idea. Might try fleecy blanket as sheet as often wonder if it feels cold and thin under her which is why she likes the big bed?? But I fear it could just be she likes the company! Know what you mean, if we want to wake her up Moses basket does the trick!!

Candr that's great news about amount if sleep and no, not rubbing in at all - just pleased it sounds like things get better the older they get! Glad 6 week check went well

Minkyjj · 26/10/2011 04:04

Candr - not at all - really pleased for you and gives us all hope.
Ssmile - my lo likes to sleep with hands above his head too - my mum says it's how I slept as a baby - my other two dcs sleep like it too. Lo not too keen on Moses but lovesy bed and sleeps really well there but trying to avoid future problems so don't encourage it.
Lo sleeps for England in his snowsuit and car seat - can do 5 hours without a feed - shame I can't replicate this at night Sad
Had my 6 week check up yesterday and doc said that my back pain is due to severe constipation - he said he could feel my bowel was full - nowhere else would any reasonable person be accepting and grateful to be told they are full of shit ! Wink all went well apart from fact that they don't do the snip to dhs until babe is at least 6 or 9 months in case you change your mind and decide to have another one ! My gp is brilliant - a legend in the area and retiring in three weeks sadly. He is so experienced I don't know who I will trust to replace him as he has been there for me (on and off when I moved away) since I was 6. Or en went to school with his kids and he has cared for my entire family through births and deaths. Needless to say I really trust him - so when he told me to try the minipill cerazette I agreed.
Off to change a stinky bum now Smile

Minkyjj · 26/10/2011 04:21

Back again - great tip for anyone needing more heat in a room for night feeding - rather than heating the whole house we bought an oil filled radiator with a thermostat and timer - really brilliant. I have also discovered that radio 7 became radio 4 extra and have my dab radio up here in the loft so will start listening to plays now at night.
It's raining hard outside and thundering - typical school holiday weather!

LoveBeingAWitch · 26/10/2011 04:28

Oh my god just had a 4.5 HR sleep Shock Grin

I'm so excited, I could live with this AND dd hasn't woken Shock Grin

LoveBeingAWitch · 26/10/2011 04:45

LoveBeingAWitch · 26/10/2011 05:24

Well ds has gone straight back to sleep, but 20 mins later I'm still wide same Sad

LoveBeingAWitch · 26/10/2011 05:24

*awake

LoveBeingAWitch · 26/10/2011 07:20

Ds woke at 7 Shock he sounded like he was going to wake a few times but went back to sleep [grin\ please don't let this be a one off.

sebs71 · 26/10/2011 09:16

Ssmile - that was a great tip- LO slept on fleecy blanket in basket for 3 hours, feed then another 2.5 hours! After 2nd feed she came into our bed though but really pleased she took to basket! Thank you x lots!

Minky midwife in hospital recommended cerazette to me too. Sorry about your GP retiring. I never get same doc when I go to my practice but they've allbeen good do far. My check isn't till 8 weeks - they combine with LO'sjabs and checks.

Well done on sleep lovebeingawitch. And good weight too!

God I need to stop eating cake etc was good during pregnancy but since giving birth think weight is creeping on. Don't want to think about diet till after Christmas but must stop weight gain or will have nothing to wear!!

jimmijam · 26/10/2011 13:45

Wow will have 2 catch up later o. All these posts!

Jojo1983 · 26/10/2011 15:11

Jimmijam hope your not going to stalk me next weekend lol We are staying at a lovely hotel right by the sea cant wait even if it rains all the time I WILL BUILD A SANDCASTLE!!!

LO had his BCG yesterday didnt even cry (thats my boy!) but has since come up in a spotty rash all over his face read the info sheet the HV gave us and this is normal so they say but still dont stop me worrying! He also slept for a solid 5 hours last night even though the fireworks did scare him a bit.

sebs71 I feel your pain have started doing just dance and zamba on the Wii feels like i'm dying!

Registed little man at the doctors so my 6 week check is all booked but they do babies @ 8 weeks so they can do their injections but there calender dont go that far so need to call back next week to book his.

jimmijam · 26/10/2011 16:42

Hope its not raining. Sandcastles r better wen its wet :-)
& it'll b butlins adult weekend so there wont b anyone on the beach (i prefer it that way) tho u may c the 2 old ladies swimming in the sea looking very happy yet stone cold, theyre there come rain or shine!

Cant wait 2 have time 2 go on zumba & dance central & just dance :-) hopefuly this coming week

its our 5th wedding anniversary thursday (i think, mayb wed) & butlins free firework show & funfair r on the same night so looking 4ward 2 that! Tho ds1 hates fireworks so we may have 2 watch them from the back garden.
Want 2 start lo sleeping in moaes basket @ night but i keep falling asleep feeding him so will stick 2 the co sleping 4 now i think.

Have any of u gone from co sleeping 2 crib/basket/cot by bed & had lo sleep longer @ night? Ours wakes every 2-3hours 4 a feed most nights. Other nights having a spell of being awake.

Dh got tablets 4 underactive thyroid. Also now got appt 2moro 2 chat about his cholesterol. Sed il go with him cuz otherwise kowing him he wouldnt change his eating/ excercise habits 1 bit. Sounds like we may end up with a house full of (boring) low fat food. I did love being a small size 8years ago but that was purely down 2 excercise. Iv always eaten whatever whenever & may find this hard :-/

Glimmerberry · 26/10/2011 16:44

ssmile thanks for pointing out this thread, wish i'd known it was here 7 weeks ago!

Glimmerberry · 26/10/2011 16:56

Hello everyone, i missed this thread springing up from the Sept baby bus, onky joined mumsnet when my maternity leave started so not quite got the hang of it yet...

I was supposed to have a section for praevia, had to leave the island I live on, got sent back when 37 week scan showed placenta no longer over the os, but had to return to the mainland at 38+6 (last day I was given permission to fly!). Was all packed up for up to 4 weeks in hospital as I was going to be allowed to labour naturally but after hubby and i went out for a long walk (8miles!) i went into labour at 39+3. We hypnobirthed until 5cm before it got really excruciating (he was back to back), then i had an epidural...failure to progress and eventually he was delivered in theatre with forceps and a second degree tear. Hated the postnatal ward and was glad to get home 4 days later.

Have struggled with BF at the beginning and really worried about his weight after he lost just over 10% at the beginning and then seemed to be really static for a couple of weeks but he's feeding well now and is back over his birthweight. We had some struggles with night time (my inexperience really, had to start showing him the difference between night and day) but he is sleeping thru or just waking once now. Daytime i'm just a fixture on the sofa with my little gorgeous limpet who won't settle anywhere without me. Next steps are trying to find ways to get off the sofa.

I'm loving being his mum. Trying not to think about the 1 1/2 stones I need to lose!

jimmijam · 26/10/2011 17:39

Welcome glimmer! Glad bf going well now! Am assuming this is ur 1st dc? Am so jealous of ur sleepy nights!!! Howd u do it?
