Justaquickie as I'm in a cafe with the children but just to say I've always said goodbye to my two when I leave and will tell felix if we're going out later if there's a baby sitter coming after he's gone down. I like them to know what's going on so they know what I'm doing/going etc so there's no worry. I guess it's just each to their own tho, probably no right way to do it.

OK so this is why I like doing my dvd on a morning. Just did the Shred and boy, my pelvic floor aint what it used to be Blush I don't have an issue on a morning, and the other dvd is all ab/back/core work so the cardio is different. Turns out I can't do jumping jacks or skip ropes at this time of night without letting out a little wee Blush Blush

viksam · 14/09/2011 20:31

im starving!!!!!!!
Devon is fine at the moment, he only cried for a min and then he was ok, so that was good.
wrt saying goodbye i think you just have to take the least stressfull option at the time, they are so easily distracted at this age that i think they will just realize by default that you always come back even if you dont always say goodbye so in the future when you leave them they will be fine.
The nursery havent phoned back and Im getting a little worried now that i might loose the spaces as i havent yet payed a deposit, i might go there tomorrow with my cheque book, i really want those spaces.
I really need to nail this food thing, i really do not want to give D jars any longer but want him to have something nice and hot for his evening meal, so i need easy to cook ideas, remember ur talking to an absolute spaz in the kitchen but i really want to improve. That reminds me, id love to do a cookery night school class, im gona have a look and see whats out there.
DH is talking about rejoining a band he was in a little while ago, im a bit pissed off about it tbh, he hasnt got any time now so how on this earth does he expect to have time to be in a band, especially when the new baby comes. What is wrong with men, why cant they just be settled instead of always chasing something. His new trip is moving house, D woke at 5 this morning and was awake chuntering on for an hour, i tried to settle him twice in that time to no avail and to be fair it was driving me round the bend but to dh its like the end of the world and we now have to move to a bigger brick built house so that the kids cant be heard so clearly. Im just going along with it for now but it wont come to anything im pretty sure of that!

memphis83 · 14/09/2011 20:37

mlic that was so funny I nearly spat my tea out! I cant believe my pelvic floor is better than what it was before I had L, my friend who is pg and due in 3 weeks wets herself everytime she laughs and has done for months!

I say goodbye to L and he comes out to wave me off but he isnt very precious about me going whereas he cries when anyone else goes, think its because he knows I will be back, that or I leave him with my mum and she spoils him silly!
Just had a bath, L is in bed, dh is away tomorrow night. L ran into kitchen earlier he tripped, and smacked his head into cabinet at such force his feet went and spun and hit cabinet too, he cried for a solid 15 mins which is a loooong time in L's world, I rang my mum crying and NHS Direct (again) by the time I got to spek to someone he was hapily making animal noises and clapping, so they said to keep an eye on him, he has been fine though just grumpy anf clingy which is a new development over the past few days with him!

viksam · 14/09/2011 20:48

mylife my pelvic floor is shite, i went down a curly slide with D at soft play the other day and went really fast and a little bit came out!!! i had light trousers on too but it was just a tiny amnt thank god!

viksam · 14/09/2011 21:02

memph im sure L will be ok, but its worth keeping an eye on him.
cake i gave calpol before his injections today and i have some in a syringe ready, cant have a bad night i think dh would implode! but i will only give the calpol if extremely necessary and then i wont really want to but he does have 4 teeth almost through so anything that will make him potentially more comfortable.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 14/09/2011 21:07

Seriously it's embarrassing! Glad dh was out, lol. Although actually, I wish he hadn't been - he did his final run before the Great North Run (Sunday) tonight and has injured his calf. Great timing.

Vik, batch cook big meals and put them into freezer bags one portion at a time. Things like spag bol, veggie pasta sauces (just stick some pasta on to go with it when you're ready), fish pie, casseroles. If there's anything you particularly want to try I will give you some recipes.

Don't think you always have to do michelin star meals though either. Pasta with pesto and creme fraiche topped with cheese is my toddler's favourite. Babyboy loves jacket potatoes (quick int he microwave) with cheese and beans. A hot meal doesn't have to have lots of ingredients, is all I'm trying to say.

Memph, poor L :( Hope he's ok soon.

Cake if babyboy was happier about me leaving him at nursery I would prefer to say bye. But he is more upset watching me leave than he is when he briefly realises I've gone, so I just sneak out and he gets over it much quicker.

I've had a quorn fillet with a (homemade) creamy mushroom/onion/parmesan sauce with roast potatoes, carrots and peas for tea. I'm starving now!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 14/09/2011 21:09

Mild-ish curries and chillis are also good for batch cooking then freezing

memphis83 · 14/09/2011 21:33

vik the red pepper pesto goes down well in our house. You can also buy baby friendly sauces that you can add chicken, mince or veg too then add rice or pasta.

DesperateHousewife21 · 14/09/2011 21:38

Memphis poor L Sad Dylan has been in the wars recently too. He's got a scratch going down from his nipple he scratched on a drawer, cuts on his face from hitting himself with his fire engine and a horrible bruise on his forehead he did today by going head first into the radiator while pushing his car along.
I swear they always injure themselves when they're playing really happily and you finally get 5 mins peace.

PublicHair · 14/09/2011 22:25

hello everyone, been up against it lately with one thing and another.
F is doing really well, drs said we should control his asthma not 'chase' it (which made me a bit Angry because we're doing what they told us to do)
DD2 loved school, took her back this morning (she did an hour yday morn with me and then had a 3 hour session today and stayed for lunch) she bloody loved it. they were both in bed by 7 today Shock
got speech night tmrw for dd1, have spent ages on phone to her old school re her spanish mark. not making much headway though.

hope all the ill babies are ok. and the dps... what is it about us mums who carry on and don't get ill.... and dh,glad to hear about the rogue pube... Wink

Woodlands · 14/09/2011 22:28

ouch dh, poor d!

viksam glad D did OK with the injection. Hope he doesn't react too much.

Just wanted to say that "spaz" is actually a really offensive word - I know we all used to say it as kids, but it isn't seen as acceptable these days. I know you didn't mean to cause any offence, just thought I'd say.

CakeandRoses · 14/09/2011 23:18

My dh says it too woodlands. I think its one of those words where the original meaning has become a bit forgotten. Mumsnet is a nightmare for getting caught out with unpc words, things like moron for instance which I thought was perfectly ok, apparently isn't.

vik I wouldn't worry about using it occassionally if you need to. I think medinol has less in it than most so maybe get that if you're worried. Haven't managed to get to an independant pharmacist yet to ask them about an ever better version. dylth would prob be able to tell us tho thinking about it!

Re meals - I wouldn't worry about cooking for D specifically, just learn some basic dishes you can all eat. Jamie's Ministry of food cookbook is a great book for simple but lovely recipes.

As pelvic-challenged mlic said - a basic tomato sauce (can give you a v simple recipe) which you can make into chili, bolognese, pasta bake or whatever is a great start.

Good to hear from you tsc. Was starting to worry. Have the docs mentioned him going dairy-free? I think I remember you saying dd1 had to when she was small. My friend and her toddler dd are both dairy-free now with no asthma symptoms whereas previously my friend had steriods etc.

Very pleased to hear about dh's hair success tho :)

memphis - poor L. Sounds like he's a brave'un though, bless him.

kk all ok there despite missing post?

stac that woman sounds like a headcase. Think I'd complain about her but I'm a stroppy ol mare like that. Hope R is better soon.

Sorry anyone I've forgotten - on bb so not easy to scroll.

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 14/09/2011 23:20

Gah - it sounded as tho I was saying vik should use 'that word' occasionally if she needs to! :-/

OP posts:
PublicHair · 14/09/2011 23:39

i know spaz is bad and wouldn' use but what's a moron Confused

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/09/2011 06:58

I thought moron was along the same lines as spaz as far as their meanings are concerned.

Am going out for a walk/lunch with my mum today although I just feel like sleeping, bad night with D then he got up at 6:10.

MalibuStac · 15/09/2011 07:35

Another shitty night here. R woke about 6 with no intention of settling. Dp and I are totally shattered. The good thing is she seems on the mend so she's going to sil's while I'm at college. Had a wee panic attack this morning, think its the lack of sleep and all the changes (I'm a creature of habit).

ph no wonder you were angry with the docs, what do they think your doing? Does he have the preventative inhaler? That's brilliant C's loving school.

dh meant to say well done with your spiders leg, I too am a freak who would have attacked that quickly.

viks I just give R what we're eating and if I'm in a rush I but small tins of beans and sausages or something (lazy bitch that I am).

memphis how was L last night? Did he settle ok?

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 15/09/2011 10:36

Ahhh my bff had her baby last night Grin

There is 12 and a half months between her two Shock

Can't wait to meet him Grin

MelissaM · 15/09/2011 13:07

Dh saw consultant yesterday and whilst still a wait & see approach for next 3 wks, we now understand that it's because of the damage to his muscles, ligaments, cartlidge and where the broken bone has damaged the flesh over it. If they operate now there is a risk of infection because they would have to cut though the injures flesh. We're both happier and he's been given some exercises to do, which the nhs dr wouldn't have given for another 3 wks. He's already lost movement in his elbow as ligaments shorten v quickly when not used. Some of deformity with his shoulder & shoulder blade is due to swelling of the injured muscles. He did a decent examination too.

memphis83 · 15/09/2011 19:54

mlic ah what has she called her baby?
melissa hope the exercises work for your DH.
phglad Clara is loving school, is DD1's grade in Spanish not as high as hoped?

regarding spaz, ive never heard it before! but moron? that cant be a bad word? really?!?!? bloodly hell I had better keep calling people a dick head from now on! Grin

L is ok, but now got two grazes down his face! he did settle last night at midnight he went down at 6.30 then cried from 11 for an hour then I had to wake him to go work! He is in bed but not asleep as DH isnt here to read him his books and he wont sit and let me read at night. He has stood in dog poo while I was picking it up!
Right then for this medieval night what do I dress as? I dont want to do maid, wench or princess, the jester outfits ive seen are crap and the female knights and muskateers are 'sexy' one which isnt me, was thinking a wizard but it is more re enactment that jokey dress up so dont think the fanatics would approve!

viksam · 15/09/2011 20:23

oh dear melissa that sounds bad, poor man, he must be in pain, good job you went to see this consultant, sounds like they had a good look.
12.5 months mylife wow, shes going to have her hands very full!!
stac hope ur feeling ok with everything, it is a big change but im sure it will all become routine really soon, fwiw i think ur brilliant going back to college and everything.
ph did they tell you how to controle it?
Thanks for the meal tips everyone, im gona go to the shop tomorrow and get some stuff to make and freeze.

Its a good job i was refering to myself when using 'that word' no offense was meant, i am a child of the 70's and some things are hard to shake, however i didn't realize the following:

mo·ron (môrn, mr-)
n.

  1. A stupid person; a dolt.
  2. Psychology A person of mild mental retardation having a mental age of from 7 to 12 years and generally having communication and social skills enabling some degree of academic or vocational education. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive.

Interesting!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 15/09/2011 20:37
