terrible night/morning here too vik, dh and i are both zombies.

afaik, there's no need to drop the morning/bedtime milk feeds if they still want them - F still has a cup twice a day even at nearly 3yo and he loves it. if they want to drop them then you just need to be sure they're getting the nutrition (calories/fat/calcium etc) elsewhere.

How many feeds?

Well anything between 1 and 2 during the day and feeds to sleep but doesn't always take milk.

What times?
Morning and all night.

Type of milk?
Bf

Amount?
No idea, more than he really needs I expect.

After our hol next month we're going to start looking into getting him his own proper bed.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/09/2011 07:52

Yes it depends on the child. My toddler still drinks a cup when he gets up, a cup before bed and umpteen cups through the day because he loves it. Babyboy however doesn't really like it so has next to nothing out of his morning and evening cups and rarely has any through the day as he prefers water.

Trudyla · 16/09/2011 08:44

Morning,

something weird is going on. Normally I go to the post natal club section and look for this thread. But it has completely disappeared. All the others are still there but not this one. It's also vanished from threads I'm on. The only way I can find it now, is searching for July 2010 in the search. Anyone know what that could be?

Going for a scan later today, hopefully baby has turned around. I remember M only turning rather late as well, and I think there is still some time.

*quick survey re milk:

How many feeds?
2

What times?
7am and 3pm

Type of milk?
formula

Amount?*
7oz

Going to see some friends in the afternoon. A new "children's caf" has opened near us, with tables and chairs for mums and lots of play areas for kids. Hopefully it will be nice. People have lots of interesting ideas here for different cafes and bars. Unfortunately most of them are ruined because of the bad attitude / rudeness of the staff. Such a shame. Can't wait to come back to the UK for some friendliness. Default here is grumpy and rude Sad

Anyone got anything nice planned for the weekend?

memphis83 · 16/09/2011 08:47

How many feeds?
3-4

Times?
wake up, 11am and bedtime, but this week he has been draining full bottle at bedtime so we have been giving him a few ounces after tea to fill him a bit more and he is sleeping better.

type of milk?
Follow on and bedtime milk at bed, still dont think he is eating enough to not need extra nutrients from follow on.

amount?
6oz and the bedtime one is 9oz, he would drink milk all day if I let him though.

memphis83 · 16/09/2011 08:48

oh forgot to say the reason I havent dropped to 2 feeds is he still wont drink anything but milk so without the extra milk he wouldnt get enough fluid.

CakeandRoses · 16/09/2011 08:52

trudy you've hidden the thread. You need to go into Customise Talk and down the bottom is the active convo bar, it says if you want to unhide go 'here', should then come up with a list of your hidden convos at the bottom of that page

Trudyla · 16/09/2011 09:00

Yey, thanks cake Smile

How on earth did that happen? I've never seen this option before and certainly haven'd hidden this thread

viksam · 16/09/2011 09:24

Regarding milk feeds, does everyone use a cup now, im still using a bottle, i think i should change him but he is having so little that im afraid he will not take any, hmmmm maybe i'll be brave tomorrow morning and give it to him in a cup.
Wheres chu and wss?? hope u guys are ok.
trudyla hope the scan goes well and baby has turned. The cafe sounds really nice, lets hope its got good staff, where are u again, im sorry, BAD memory! How many weeks are u now, i cant believe i will be 26 weeks tomorrow! its going soooo quickly and i really need to savour and enjoy this pregnancy as im pretty sure it will be my last!

WhatSheSaid · 16/09/2011 09:29

I'm here and reading, just no news really.

3 milk feeds (cow's milk) a day, one on getting up, one after sleep and one before bed. Don't measure them out exactly but first bottle of day is pretty much full and the other two are about half full.

viksam · 16/09/2011 09:45

wss what time is it there? Does she have it in a bottle or a cup? how are things with u?
Why does time fly when they are sleeping, yet when they wake up it can really drag??? i havent even showered yet and have to wake him shortly! i have done two loads of washing and cleaned the kitchen and done some ironing already today though, thats what a tragicaly early wake up does for u!!

WhatSheSaid · 16/09/2011 09:54

It's 8.50pm vik, we're 11 hours ahead Smile.

Dh and I are having a couple of glasses of wine and flipping between watching NZ beat Japan at rugby and an old episode of Location on TV.

PublicHair · 16/09/2011 13:35

hello everyone.
i feed frankie when i get up (so half 7) jim gets up with him everyday Wink and he's had cup of cows when he gets up at 5.30 from dp.
he has (my) milk after he wakes up from his nap (so depends when he sleeps) and milk before bed.
and that is it.
we've avoided bottles and formula.
i give him a cup of cows milk 'mid meals' if that makes sense, so i give water with meals and if we are at park or gym and he might be thirsty but when i give snacks like fruit he has milk with that.

memphis83 · 16/09/2011 14:41

I have been shopping today and hired a very regal outfit for out night out it took me and the costume woman to dress me so I have no hope of going for a wee all night! So much for me not wanting a girly outfit, oh and L laughed his socks off when he saw me!
He has found a new love...fig rolls, not sure I should have let him have them when he has had 6 nappies today already!

viksam · 16/09/2011 14:59

Why does that hour go so quick!!!Rahhhhhhhhhh!! i dont want to get him up i want to sleep! but i will go and get him and i will drag my sorry ass to the park and we will have fun and i will feel better...............

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/09/2011 16:25

I'm at my mums again and D is playing in the garden. He's foraging around in the undergrowth.

He had a better night last night but we gave him calpol before bed so it's hard to know if it would have been a good night without it.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/09/2011 20:22

Well vik, I give him his morning milk in a beaker and if he has any through the day that's in a beaker too. He has a beaker in the evening but I often decant it into a bottle to try to make him drink more of it. He doesn't drink much milk these days at all though to be honest, but he eats well and drinks lots of water so I don't care.

MalibuStac · 17/09/2011 08:24

R has 2 milk feeds of cows milk 8oz. She drinks water all through the dayfrom a cup or bottle and she drinks loads. I'm wondering if she drinks too much.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 17/09/2011 08:43

Hey everyone I'm menu planning for the christening, we've got approx 40 adults and 15 kids coming - any advice for me?

I'm planning on doing a veggie and a chicken curry as it's a September evening so warm food will probably be appreciated as well as cold. It's a 4pm church service so I'm figuring people will treat this buffet as their tea, so I'm keen for it to be fairly substantial but keep costs to a minimum iyswim

So far (rough ideas)

cold
open sandwiches, various fillings (memph did you say one loaf = 10 people?)
homemade (vegetarian) quiche
salad
rice and/or pasta salad
coleslaw and potato salad
Sausage rolls or veg equivalent
Fruit platter
Breadsticks & dips

warm
Veg curry
Chicken curry
Rice

Do I need to do sticky chicken legs/wings or is that over-kill? And/or pizza?
What about anything else? Have I forgotten anything obvious?

There will be guiness/lager/wine and squash available or tea/coffee (it's at my mam's house so no probs there, I'll put the coffee maker on and have a teapot at the ready)

memphis83 · 17/09/2011 08:53

mlic my mum always did buffers with one loaf to ten, I would think pizza would be better than chicken leg/wings as its more kid friendly and cheaper, what about a chilli and a veg curry to cut costs a bit as chicken is dearer than mince? I think it all sounds lovely!
stac I dont think she drinks too much, the lifestyle coach said several beakers of water is the norm, L probably only has an ounce a day if that!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 17/09/2011 08:54

Oh and it's quite a low key do, so was hoping to maybe avoid the formal chiristening cake and maybe do a nice victoria sponge or something instead? And a pavlova for pudding?

Would a veg and chicken curry be better or a veg curry and a beef (yuk) chilli? Cast your votes please

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 17/09/2011 08:54

Haha, x post memph Grin

PublicHair · 17/09/2011 08:57

i'd do 2 cooked meats (ham\chicken)
new potatoes or wedges.
nice bread.
'nice' salads -i did a cucumber one and a greek one (saved us having to do bowls of lettuce etc)people take one spoon full.
coleslaw\potato salad.
we did chutneys\mustard.(i did do quiche etc but could've done without)
fruit platter went really well. buy individual packets of crisps and then you can eat them yourself

i'd just do curry, rice, naan.
are you doing any other pudding, it'd be cheaper if you got a choc fudge cake\apple pie (£6 each from costco) rather than a load of mains.

what's anyone doing today\this weekend

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 17/09/2011 09:13

We don't have costco round here. I was thinking a victoria sponge and pavlova would be enough Confused You think I need anotherone then? I'd be happier making an apple pie than buying one tbh

Ok will do wedges - was thinking mixture of potato and sweet potato, what do you think?

Bread - will make a nice sundried tomato & basil loaf or cheese and chive/onion loaf or something.

I can't just do 'curry' as I need to cater for those who eat meat and only meat (like my parents and some guests invited) and vegetarians, of which there are a few. Can do naans though, good idea.

WhatSheSaid · 17/09/2011 09:18

There's a thread in Active Convos about good buffet food, I was just reading it.

(I don't know why I was reading it, I'm not doing a buffet any time soon. I'm a bit bored Grin)

It might give you some ideas
