I could really do with advice on volume of milk etc at 9 months. Currently little man is still having a fair bit. BUT he is eating (at least I think he is) well and so I don't think he is making up for lack of solids. The last 2 days we have actually had to refill his bedtime bottle with another 200ml carton of formula for the first time ever, so he actually had about 350ml before going to bed tonight! And is likely to have most of his bottle at 10.30pm too.

Today he had about 150ml at 7am, then weetabix and banana (first time he has ever had this and had LOADS) at 8am. Then lunch at 12pm which he ate all of (beef and sweet potato stew) and pudding. Then bottle was at 2pm early as he seemed so hungry. Then dinner just before 5 which was pasta and bolognese and fruit pot. He had a fair bit of the pasta but not all, just seemed to get fed up. Then bottle at 6.40 and then another one at 7!

I know they are supposed to be cutting down and having more food, but I don;t think he needs more food particularly, he seems to having a good lot. But maybe not. I reckon he must still be having 600-700ml a day of formula. He seems happy, he's not fat so why am I worrying?! I couldn't even begin to try and cut out the 10.30 feed when he is like this!

AlpinePony · 21/08/2011 20:38

700 until 12 months is recommended.

I've the opposite problem! Bf first thing both sides and then bf at bedtime one or both. He's not interested during the day!!

He is scoffing tho and he's having grimace fraud, Dairylea, milk on brekkie etc.

He has water with all meals.

Like you moo I await someone in the know to respond!

SilverSky · 21/08/2011 20:41

Argghhhh bloody bastard phone!!

Grimace fraud = fromage frais

Muser · 21/08/2011 20:52

Grimace fraud!

Muser · 21/08/2011 20:53

Have we put out the stinky brie and questionable meat products for booty yet? I found half a pepparami at the back of the fridge. Anything else?

okiecokie · 21/08/2011 20:59

Grimace fraud sounds gooood.

Moo I have given up worrying. I just figure as long as they eat and drink then all is good with the world. Peppa had Bf at 6am and a couple of mouthfuls of weetabix and a bit of toast for bfast, a chunk of lamb from some casserole and a couple of bits of potato for lunch. A half interested/3 min BF around 3pm and some pasta for tea and I struggled to get 3oz of milk in her at bedtime. I ended up plonking her on the boob after as she seems to have gone off formula. She is still a chunky monkey but I am sure I will be up a couple of times tonight for a feed as she hasn't had enough to eat today. So, all I am saying is with that quantity of grub/milk sounds like he should be fine.

I haven't caught up with fred. Whenever I get time on 'puter at mo I am just a bit brain dead as kids are taking everything from me at the mo. Fish slaps all round.

okiecokie · 21/08/2011 21:05

Sorry moo are you worrying he is having too much? Don't worry. Mini ate like a horse till he was about 18 months. I am talking adult size portions of food and lge quantities of milk every day.

rollerbaby · 21/08/2011 21:31

Fanks okie I think is a good approach. he is happy eating what I think is about right and drinking quite a bit. I just keep hearing that I should be dropping the late feed and thinking, yes but how?! Particularly when he's going back for seconds at 6.30 I just don't want to risk it. Seems stupid to reduce it when he will no doubt let me know when it's right for him to drop it?

Also thanks for advice on other place. Am being a right Twunt I know.

Watching dolphin programme. they are amazing.

Have also just cooked about 5 litres of lamb stew. Should feed us until March I reckon.

Muser · 21/08/2011 21:51

Grimace Fraud!

rocketleaf · 21/08/2011 22:09

Grimace Fraud? Is he out of Harry Potter or something? :o

I don't know from experience moo but sounds like you know what you are doing is ok really. If he is happy I wouldn't worry about what you hear. All babies are different right? and they change so quickly. He might have dropped the late feed himself in a months time. Hard not to question yourself when people start telling you what your baby 'should' be doing though. (grhhh)

That program was amazeballs. Especially the hunting humpback whales and the narcissistic dolphins.

Backinthebox · 21/08/2011 22:49

Firstly, Cas stop with the bfing worrying. Tis bollocks what you are thinking.

Cheese - I was told when I broke my leg that the bones act as a calcium reservoir and can store and release calcium, and that bfing might mean I have slightly more porous bones atm. So cheese intake might not do anything for your baybee, but might help you out a bit. So eat the cheese. Who knows where I might be now if only I'd eaten more cheese... Grin.

Silv LG bites too. He laughs as he does it. And he laughs as he sticks his fingers up my nose, when he pinches and when he scratches. I have birthed a thug. Am off to read Dr Sears - he speaks sense. Perhaps MB has had a bit too much Grimace Fraud?

Am back from camping. Cluck and I have learnt our lesson. Hmm Camping on Exmoor we had the opportunity to shout 'OMG! Ponieeeezzz!' For real. Grin LG is a camping fan. OH is not. I generally like it better when I don't have to hike to the top of a hill on crutches in the rain to go to the loo. Crutches mean I still can't pick up LG, so was reduced to sitting there shouting 'watch out, he's near the gas bottle!' or 'watch out, he's heading for the huge puddle again!' without being able to actually do anything about it. Such fun, that we are going again next weekend - we are suckers for punishment Grin.

Backinthebox · 21/08/2011 22:55

Hmm, back from Dr Sears. He is talking about older children than LG there. So how to stop an 11mo biting?

SilverSky · 21/08/2011 23:20

My thoughts too box. MB is 9.5mo. It's a trauma. Bloody lunges at me with his mouth wide open! Camping sounds cool. I nearly broke my own ankle today falling down a rabbit hole. Luckily only pride bruised.

Backinthebox · 22/08/2011 00:47

I have now got a headache and square eyes from hours on t'internet trying to understand the 2 cryptic sentences typed by the mad Russian doctor I seem to have been assigned. My last visit to him had him stating 'We haf good newz and bad newz... Ze bone is hilling well but you will haf osteoarthritis,' before refusing to elaborate further and dismissing questions with a wave of the hand, while telling me to apply vodka to my ankle on a cotton wool poultice - I kid you not. Hmm

The cryptic sentences, according to google, state that I have a thickened bone but a thinned bone too, and also a bit of bone that when I type in the word he used in the letter is used exclusively with bone cancer, which I am 99.9% sure I do not have! Apparently the bit I have bone cancer (or not!) on is a bit that when googled, the word does not exist. But if you say it with a Russian accent, it sounds like something that does exist but that at no point have I been informed I had, iyswim. Reading the letter with sceptic's eyes, it would seem I may have broken more bones than they have been letting on. I am not thick, and would like to know these things. I fucking hate doctors. They might make you better, but they do it with such a supercilious 'worship me, for I have knowledge you will never have' attitude. I hate them, I do.

rocketleaf · 22/08/2011 09:18

I bloody hate the way doctors do that. We were constantly being asked if one of us had a medical background during the birth and stay in hospital. No, we are just not thick and have done our research. All medical types seem to think that if you can hold an intelligent conversation and sound like you know what you are on about then you must of course be a medical type. Hmm

It turns out Sprout actually had 3 things wrong with her heart but the consultant decided only to tell us about 2 of them as the 3rd one must have been minor. But he wrote it in her red book. I can see why he would want to not freak us out anymore than necessary but when you come across something in the paper work that has never been discussed, it could be more worrying.

silva 30GG??!!!??11! Wowzers :o

Medee · 22/08/2011 09:25

doctors fluctuate in my affections too, especially the one who sees EA. I sometimes think she gives us more credit that we are due as we are intelligent, but then makes us spell out our concerns in words of two syllables or less.

okiecokie · 22/08/2011 09:35

moo he will drop 10.30 feed when he is ready. Mini was getting harder and harder to wake up for it, would take around 1oz and then over an hour to get back to sleep Hmm. This is when I cut it out.

Silv 30GG? How do you not fall over? Nice to have uplift though huh?

I like cheese too. The stinkier the better.

Cosmosis · 22/08/2011 10:37

can you believe today is my due date anniversary?????

FannyPriceless · 22/08/2011 12:24

Happy due date anniversary cossie. I remember the long wait well. It must be, what, a mere 6 weeks or so until Artie's actual birthday?WinkGrin

I did bad yesterday. Poor MrP had a crap day because I am a bad, bad, forgetful, disorganised person. Though he did say the police were really very nice to him after the first hour or so.Blush

Cosmosis · 22/08/2011 12:27

Shock the police?? fess up fans, what did you do???

lol at the 6 weeks, yes about that long I think. Do you remember meeting up after my due date and you panicking you might have to take me to hossie Wink

FannyPriceless · 22/08/2011 12:46

cos Yes I remember that - I was prepared, and a little bit panicky. You were totally cool, calm and collected.Grin

The police... well. It turns out that my car has been uninsured for the last 3 months.Blush

MrP had a fabulous day planned attending a theatre workshop at the RSC. The kids' seats were in his car, so I generously said, oh just take my car.

Soooo.. the car was impounded at the local clink, MrP missed his workshop, and instead had to endure a good cop / bad cop routine while I was on the end of the phone trying to convince them that it was a genuine mistake.

Then he had to wait while I got on the phone to the insurance company to sort it out and insure the car before they would let him go. All this while juggling two hungry tired kids. (But apparently the bad cop smiled and started to come around when they all heard loudly over the phone me saying, 'A poo! You did a POO! Well done!'.)

So, word of warning: if anyone is insured with Natwest and has it set up to renew automatically, please note that if you change any detail throughout the year (e.g. change your address and dutifully inform themHmm) they will no longer renew it automatically. Oh and they won't tell you this - you have to phone them. Grrr...

I have to admit it was a bit funny though when I got a phone call from MrP 20 mins after his workshop should have started, with a slightly high pitched, pretend-relaxed voice saying 'Hi, look I'm just having a chat to two police officers...'

Though when I told him it was funny last night his face went like this: Angry.

CluckyKate · 22/08/2011 13:21

Happy Monday everybody!

Blimey Fans, that is some cock-up Shock. I have a problem with automatic renewals tho - rarely re-new with the same insurer and forget to cancel.

Box - we clearly have not learnt our lesson if we're to do it again next weekend Grin. Must admit it got a whole lot easier when MrBox turned up....I can just about Hmm manage my own kids but give me another 2 to watch then the tarnish on my halo quickly starts to appear.

So, in other news, the droid appeared this weekend. Yep, that's right, after 16 blissful months it's back with a vengeance. Pliz to let it be gone by the weekend.

Jealous of the properly fitting bras Silv. I need to do the same but don't want to waste good money on something that will only fit for a bit, esp once the pounds start dripping away on me new diet

On topic of tooth brushing, we have only just started to do it properly with LC. She is nearly 3. Took her to the dentist t'other week and all was well.

okiecokie · 22/08/2011 13:24

Fanny you rebel. At least the car wasn't stolen or God forbid used to injure anyone in the last 3 months! I got pulled over by the police recently for pulling out on them. I was actually on the phone but managed to chuck it under the seat before they saw it. I blamed mini who was in the car seat moaning on and crying. You could tell the policeman had kids..

FannyPriceless · 22/08/2011 14:04

okes That's much worse! I only accidentally broke the law.Wink

clucks You have stumbled upon an ESH truth. When a non-pregnant woman goes camping the droid must appear as a result. (Hence nobody allowed to mention the 'c' word on the BESH thread. Brings on the red tide of doom, innit.Sad)
