Heeyah.

To be honest the Kindle saved me from madness as I couldn't ever co-ordinate having the correct configuration of the 3 remote controls required to watch any of the downloads 'box sets'. Plus a book is much easier to dip in and out of. If you like to read then I'd heartily recommend getting one. Saved me from Homes under the Hammer and JK.

owlbooty · 19/09/2011 18:14

Kindle is ace. I use the reading light at night to check if nappy change is required Grin

AlpinePony · 19/09/2011 18:27

I have a variety of sleeping bags - mama's & papa's, IKEA, allsorts - the BEST one evah was a pressie from cossie - trouble is, it's too wee for him so I'm saving it up for number 2. :)

cossie Oh you definitely made the right choice - a dishwasher is way better than a holiday in Italy.

Can I have a look at the Bad Mother crown? I left the baybee unattended while I went to put her bath on and came back to find her with her hand in the cat food bowl. We really need to move to a less open plan abode. Got feedback from my first viewings and they did not approve of the open plan layout. I am now worried that nobody will buy the flat.

Feeds definitely got quicker here around the 5 month mark and even quicker now. She is super speedy now.

rollerbaby · 19/09/2011 21:47

Right then, hand that crown over now. None of you are getting it back. I broke a plate in the kitchen and then found my baybee chewing on a shard of broken plate the next day. The shrieking that accompanied would have deafened Beethoven.

rollerbaby · 19/09/2011 21:48

Oh and feeds got way quicker for me before 5 months - I'd say 4ish was the mark when things got mucho quick. Although at bedtime he tended to take his time but I didn't mind too much then.

SilverSky · 20/09/2011 07:08

I was thinking I was going to have this crown forever! . Is BabyMoo ok?

Alp mil kept telling MB he was naughty on Sunday cos he was spitting out her mashed up roast dinner. If she hadn't of mashed it up and he could have fed himself then it would have been more successful. Fact.

owlbooty · 20/09/2011 09:15

moo you definitely get the crown. muse I am fully expecting owlet to eat cat food as soon as he starts crawling but for extra bonus points they need to get their head stuck in the cat flap :)
The boy went down and slept for 6 hours last night. Pliz to join me in my happy skippy dance. Boing. He did piss all over his cot this morning but I shall forgive him for that.

Muser · 20/09/2011 09:23

We have a fancy schmancy cat flap that reads the kitties microchips and open for them. I'd have to get the baby chipped to ensure a head trapping incident. Hmm, an interesting idea.

Hooray for 6 hours sleep. Happy skippy dance! I would quite like 6 hours sleep.

Cosmosis · 20/09/2011 09:25

Yeah, but alpro the holiday in italy was significantly more than £26. Especially as is priced in Euros

I bet today they are doing that great ride over the mule trails, squishing all the wild thyme and oregano, past the tiny vineyard where the owners gave us loads of grapes and then ending up down at the sea with a beer in a beach front bar. Sob.

Artie has been at the cat bowls, he likes dipping his fingers in the water and then tipping it upside down. I also scooped him up from in front of the litter tray yesterday.

yay for 6 hour sleeps boots !!!!

AlpinePony · 20/09/2011 09:40

Our dogs have finger-flavoured water. I prefer finger-flavoured to "lift & tip" tbh.

OP posts:
rollerbaby · 20/09/2011 11:25

We also have finger flavoured water in this house for doglets. It is a miracle that babymoo has yet to eat any kibble.

silver yep he was fine - I was in shock though! He was in his bounceroo just casually CHEWING the shard of plate!!! I must have missed it hoovering and it flew into his bouncer. Fuck me I was in a flap! Well 'ard my boy.

owley that is fabulous news, bet you feel like you can do ANYTHING today. I loves that feeling. Then you end up on your knees by teatime again....

What's happened to Box? Don't see her or Clucky in t'other place anymore!

Cosmosis · 20/09/2011 12:17

Can anyone explain why, when artie is 91st centile for weight and 75th for height, he has only just grown out of 6-9m sleepsuits, and the 9-12m ones are massively baggy as well as very dangly in the legs? He was crawling round this morning with about 6inches of babygrow after his feet.

AlpinePony · 20/09/2011 12:21

cossie Bear is still in some 9-12 suits, they're a wee bit short on the arms now and not a lot of leg-stretching room, but plenty wide enough. JB only bought 12-18 months on sunday. I'm finding clothes sizing for little ones "all over the place" and getting worse as they get older. Do Tesco for example size for barrels? The pirate pup for wee ones was fine - but I got some cords which are STILL way too big in the waist but come up to his knees. Hence I've gone over to Boden. :(

OP posts:
AlpinePony · 20/09/2011 12:23

Oh and his 12-18 month pyjamas from Tesco - the neck hole is so wide he could wear it as a fucking Bardot top! Confused

OP posts:
Cosmosis · 20/09/2011 12:41

these are tesco sleepsuits. Maybe I should try some sainsbos ones. as far as I can tell the only difference between tesco 9-12 and 12-18m trousers is lenght, they seem to be the same waist size.

Ocarina · 20/09/2011 14:16

Well, we're surviving our first day home alone. We both managed to get up and clean and dressed, and have both eaten, and Peedie is currently asleep in the sling, so I'm counting this as a success! My Mum arrives tonight for a few days so we'll be back to having someone who can run round after us.

I've just phoned the GP for the results of the swab they took last week when they gave me the antibiotics for my undercarriage infection. I forgot to phone on Friday, and they've been shut since (some random local holiday yesterday - I don't think I'll ever get the hang of them). Finally got through and 'there's a result back but the doctor hasn't commented yet'. So that's really helpful then, given I should've had them on Friday, and have just finished the course of antibiotics they were supposed to be checking were the right ones. The midwife checked it yesterday and it was improving but still infected apparently, so it would be nice to know whether I've been taking the right pills. Grrrr.

Cosmosis · 20/09/2011 14:48

I?m well impressed that you are dressed, well done!!!

Muser · 20/09/2011 17:03

Being dressed is very impressive.

Alps we had a "lift n tip" episode here just as I was trying to leave the house. Somebody thought the fact she was completely soaked from head to toe was hilarious. I was less impressed.

CluckyKate · 21/09/2011 07:50

I'm here Moo - finding it hard to keep up with all the posts & topics on t'other place . I've not seen much of Boxer either - she's busy painting her extension and revising for her return to the fray.

Baby sizes are completely fucked Cossie and it doesn't get better as they get older. Yesterday LC was wearing a 18-24m skirt from Mothercare, age 2-3 Next tights and a Gap 3-4yr top!!

Good work on getting up, washed & dressed before lunchtime Occa - you must be ver organised [nods]

Cosmosis · 21/09/2011 13:00

I still need you all here in the day cos reception on phones is rubbish here so can only get on tother place intermittently.

Thanks for sleeping bag advice everyone. Silverton, Tickle is 3.5 weeks old. Okie, our flat is also apparently 22 degrees, but feels colder. I think I may start with a sleepsuit and 1 tog, though I always feel like he should have a vest on as well. The next conundrum is how often I'll have to wash the sleeping bags! Alpine, isn't general advice not to use duvets? Though I think Gro do a zip up one. But Rockette, I agree, it's confuzzling business.

Carina, we are having similar problems with feeding, plus we also still have to top up. I have to say, while Tickle is gorgeously cuddly, can't help but think that it will all get easier when around the clock feeding stops.

Moo, what did you do when Mr Moo went back to work? I am wondering how much I can wake CH up then.

Well done on the amazingly successful first day alone OcarinaBallerina. Which sling are you using?

I am sure I forgot to mention a bunch of things, but have written this post in, like, 12 different goes. Deffo appreciating the time to watch Mad Men.

AlpinePony · 21/09/2011 15:55

Btw - have any of you seen the convo in chat about "can I leave the house if my 12 year old is having bath-time"?

OP posts:
rollerbaby · 21/09/2011 16:35

Ha ha Alps won't someone think of the children?

Hoppy we have a funny old set up here as Mr Moo works from home (as do I now) so we are a bit unconventional. It's worked well for me and babymoo (not so well for him) as we have had more support than most from the early days and he's within yelling distance which as you can imagine is dead handy when the baby used to projectile vomit on the dog and so on... To my mind your job is WAY harder so disturbed sleep for them is just fucking tough. It's unlikely they are getting up if you're BF and I never liked the idea of us sleeping in separate rooms for months on end. We might just get used to it...

you don't need to wash the sleeping bags every 5 minutes. Maybe once a week? But in all honesty you're not likely to ever make it that long to begin with before you get yellow poo or sick on it. I did actually have quite a few back then as we had so many accidents and I way preferred them to having to check if the blankets had come off etc. Now he is pretty good and we probably change them once a week.
