OK this is it I have started the thread in the vain hope that someone on the December antenatal thread will pop and come and join me, I have been waiting for over 3 weeks now and to be honest with you I think your all being a little selfish making me wait around on my own .

Can't believe I am the one starting this thread I'm not due till 18/12/05 yet by then George will be nearly 6 weeks old, I tell you what though I feel really really sorry for the last person to give birth from December as they will be dying to get onto this thread by then.

As sad as this may seem over the next few days (or weeks if you lot don't get popping) I'm going to post on this thread little messages so that when people start crossing over they have something to read, well that is what I intend to do anyway but whether George lets me do that is a totally different thing.
I shall deffo post my birth story on here I have waited so long to do it so expect that to appear in the next day or so.

So come on over ladies the grass really is greener on the other side.

HERES WISHING YOU MANY HAPPY NAPPIES [GRIN] [GRIN] [GRIN]

Good to see you here hereshoping! Cant believe we had baby girls on same day and weighing the same too! What a coincidence!
Bad night with Alex, She was awake from 12pm right through till 7am, wanted to feed but couldnt keep latched on due to snotty nose and nasty cough, didnt want to be seen as paranoid new mum so sat up with her all night. Midwife came at 9.30 and sent us straight to A&E as Alex has dropped 11% of her body weight (apparently they allow 10% as normal!) Got some drops to help her nose but feel like a total failure now! Am expressing off 3 oz and having to feed it to her every 2 hours via bottle as she is totally exhausted and cant latch on. Am really not a happy mummy and feel im letting my daughter down. Very emotional here.

congrats to all newbies!

Well, I'm feeling back to my normal chirpy self today. After a few terrible nights Lucas is back to sleeping again. He's got a really horrible cold and I think his little body is fighting it really hard because he's done nothing but sleep for the last 2 days and nights.

Bonkerz - sorry your feeling low hun, I know how you feel. I felt so terrible when Lucas had to change from breast to bottle because of his tounge. It does get better, I promise and once Alex's cold is gone I'm sure she'll latch on again.

I'm hoping that I can go back to breast feeding after Lucas has his tounge op on Thursday.

I hope everyone had a very merry (all be it tireing) christmas - I know we did.

I have breast fed him once since and topped him up with a bottle - I hope to have him back breast feeding very soon.

Right I'm off to cuddle up on the sofa with my kids and watch Stuart Little - does life get any better???? i don't think so!

Love to everyone.

Nemoinapeartree · 29/12/2005 20:22

Hi all

just had a text from bonkerz to say Alex has been admitted to hospital with bronchilitis[sp?] so is on oxygen. Bonkerz is staying with her but just wanted to ask you all to send your thoughts as am sure she will be stressing..bless her.

SH glad lucas has had op and it was without anesthetic. hope he is back bf soon.

hopefully george will be lying in hospital holding her little bundle by now

congrates to scully and ninah on your little ones. scully your labour sounds great and just what you wanted.

We are all good here. Hannah is now officially registered and was also weighed by HV and is now 7lb7ozs. Her face has really filled out although rest of her is still tiny..lol She is looking more like Adam every day. Have had to change hannahs formula though as she started throwing up all her feeds the past 2 days so will see how we go on the new one.

Take care all

Hi Ladies,

Hope you are all well and looking forward to meeting your bumps. Just come on here to vent really.

I am so so so so so so mad {angry]

George has been really unwell since Xmas eve throwing up all his feeds and coughing away like mad. He managed to get through Xmas day on some feed but with xtra boiled water so as not to get dehydrated. It then got to 3pm Boxing day afternoon and he had had nothing to drink since 11pm Xmas day he just refused totally and was very unresponsive so I took him to the emergency doctor (seadoc) at the hospital where I was told he had a chest infection but he was fine give him calpol and just keep trying to feed him. The following day (Tuesday) he was no better so I took him again to the Seadoc (a different Dr) who told me exactly the same so I took him home and DH went off to work, within an hour of being at home George stopped breathing it was horrible I have never felt so scared in my whole life he was limp and turning blueish, the ambulance arrived and he took a huge gasp of air but looked so scared and his breathing was very laboured. We went straight in the ambulance to hospital and on the way he had 2 fyrther episodes, he was rushed in and I was ushered away into one of those horribly quiet rooms (then DH turned up thank God as I was falling apart) George was transferred to the childrem ward but was still so bad they said he would have to be transferred to Guys in London He luckily stopped having these episodes but was on loads of Oxygen and a drip as he was seriously dehydrated. It turns out that he has Brochilitis (Bonkerz I know what you are going through) and it should have been picked up on by the Seadoc and then this would have never happened.

I have been at his bedside since Tuesday afternoon but have come home tonight for a rest and DH has stayed with him I shall be back there first thing it feels horrible without him here, he has now been taken of his drip as he is feeding again (occasionally bringing it up but that is normal with brochilitis) and today he spent most of the day out of his head box (for oxygen) but may have to go into it over night as his levels drop when he is in a deep sleep. We are hoping to bring him home in the next few days but I will be watching him like a hawk I can't even think about what would have happened if I hadn't been with him when he stopped breathing.

Oh and one other thing when they where checking his heart they found a heart mumour but they said this may just be because of the illness but they will be doing further checks.

What a Christmas week I am shattered, very very emotional and very very angry I don't know whether I want to sob my heart out or punch a Seadoc.

I will keep you all updated, Bonkerz I'm thinking of you.

Hi everyone,

Just to let you all know we bought DS home from hospital today as he had gone 24 hours without any extra Oxygen and had gone 48 hours without having to be ressusitated (sp).

I am so glad to have him home for new years eve there will be huge cuddles and kisses at 12am I can tell you, things were very very scarey for a little while and I can't stop looking at him to check his breathing now but we are still very happy.

hey mummies hope everyones well and all babies too.
nearly all of us here now.isnt that amazing? a week or two ago most of us hadnt!!
would like some 'chitchat' about how its all going with everyone, postnatally. missing our 'coversations' altho of course we're mmuch busier.
whos babys sleep where? expat i believe you co-sleep too? daisy has a bedside cot, and downstairs a moses basket for naps, but really shes far happier and much more asleep if shes right next to me.

Thomcat · 01/01/2006 21:19

Hey girls, nice to be on this side now aye.
Happy new year to you all.
one finger typing as i'm breastfeeding as i type.
still no name for bubaloo, can't see us ever deciding!!!
Shes a dream, feeds well, and often at the mo, and sleeps in with us, something i thought we'd never do, but she sleeps for longer when shes in with us and won't settle in moses basket so... and anyway, i'm loving having her with us and much easier for feeding etc.

dramaqueen72 · 01/01/2006 21:27

this will be my third co-sleeper........tho shes already better at napping in her basket than any of the others ever were.
she feeds quite often at night/evening. and is up for a few wide awake hours at something silly like 1am. but you know I dont mind, shes so lovely and i do get to sleep in good three hour bursts, -more than with dd2 who never ever slept properly til she was about 20mths. already had teh stupid question from people 'is she good?' you know I hate that question!!! is she good? like some babies are bad!!? certain to drive me mad that question. I am so lucky to have a newborn, after our losses, and since some people I know stil cant have any, that frankly if she never slept, and styed feeding all night, i'd consider myself still very lucky.
do hope all other babies are fine and mummies well.
tc -name that baby will you!! LOL bless her......

Nemoinapeartree · 02/01/2006 10:59

hi all
hope everyone is ok.
FB so glad you have george home.
Havent spoken to bonkerz since NYE when Alex was still in hospital on oxygen so heres hoping she is home now, will text later.
DQ we do half cosleep and half in crib. When we go to bed at 11 hannah will sleep in the crib until she wakes around 2 for a bottle. Then I tend to fall back asleep with her in the bed and we wake around 6.30-7 which is when Adam comes in. Must admit did exactly the same with Adam as a baby and never posed any problems with him going in his own room [think he was glad to escape the snoring..lol]Hannah sleeps in bouncer during day so is quite happy to do either but its just me being lazy and baby is like a hot water bottle in the bed..lol

Dh went back to work yesterday and I must admit the whole thing has been surprisingly easy at the minute. Am sure I wont be saying that in a few weeks but Adam is behaving better as he plays up when daddy is home. Cant believe we are in 2006 already and xmas is all done and we have our babies!!!!!!!!!

sweetheart · 02/01/2006 12:01

Hey DQ - glad to hear your doing well. We have a moses basket by the bed which Lucas is in but as he is a little so and so at night I often end up falling alseep whilst feeding him in bed so we end up co-sleeping most nights. He normally goes down in his basket and after his awake period (2am - 5am) I am so tired he sleeps in with us.

Quite looking forward to getting back to some sort of normality when dd goes back to school. Hopefully I'll be able to get some sleep during the day then too.

Lucas has gone back to breastfeeding quite well. He hasn't had a bottle now for for about 36 hours although it is tricky learning his new routein as he was doing so well with a bottle.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Happy new year to you all.
Ninah - hope your xmas was OK!

flutterbeedreaminofawhitexmas · 02/01/2006 14:10

Hi ladies, GEORGE HAS STARTED SMILING

I was so happy when I saw it it made me cry, he really locked on to my eyes and then just gave me this huge grin and then yesterday at my Mums he gave her one as well DH is still patiently waiting but it won't be long now and he will be at it all the time. After everything that has gone on this week a smile is just what I needed.

DQ with regards to sleeping etc, George has a crib in our room and a lie flat chair for during the day, he loves his chair and won't go in his crib at night but we hope to crack that this week with the help of a nifty vtech baby bear lullabye, he had one when he was in hospital and he was mezmerised by it so fingers crossed the one we have bought him should do the trick. He seems to have awake time during the day for a few hours and then from his early evening feed untill his late night feed. He then sleeps between 4-6 hours feeds and then goes straight back to sleep he really is very very good.

Happy New Year everyone, has anyone made any resolutions this year??????

Oh and by the way just in case you missed it GEORGE IS SMILING

Hi all, Alex got out of hospital tonight. Its been horrid! But she is alot better and hasnt needed oxygen since lunch time today!
Ive been diagnosed with PND mainly due to the horrors of hospital! Alex was admitted to a childrens ward just off the maternity hospital i had her in BUT there were no provisions made to support me so after 36 hours of no sleep, food or midwife support for me i finally buckled and made a scene which was met by unsympathetic nursing staff! Eventually someone agreed to ring over and get a midwife who has been coming to see me daily and has helped me alot! Unfortunately i have been living off of junk food as there were no facilities for me to cook or store food and my milk decided to dry up last night and i had to admit defeat with breast feeding, which hasnt helped my emotional state. Midwife has reassured me i should start producing again once i begin eating properly so hoping Alex will be on formula for just a couple of days for me to get strength back.
Need idiots guide please as to who has pooped and who is left etc etc. Hope you are all well.!
BTW may need to go back in again as Alex still has jaundice even though she is 14 days old now (which apparently is a problem!) Am waiting for test results!

scully · 03/01/2006 11:46

Good to hear Alex is on the mend Bonkerz, but poor you, that's awful they just left without any support etc. I hope you both start to feel better now you're home.
TC, happy to hear you are also strugging on the name front, dd2 is also nameless after 9days. We are down to a shortlist of 4 names though, so any day now....
If any of you live in Surrey, and see a copy of this week's Surrey Advertiser, there is a photo of a certain family on the front page, who had a Xmas day baby Can't believe they put a photo of me on the front page, 12hrs after giving birth Lovely keepsake though for when dd2 is older.
dd2 is in a moses basket in our room, settling in it at night a lot better than dd1 did, so will leave her in it for now although dd1 co-slept for a while and it also gave us no problems later. dd2 is noisy though, likes to talk herself to sleep - fine for during the day, but at 3am....

flutterbee · 03/01/2006 12:41

Hi Bonkerz - Good to see you back I have just been through a very similar horrible experience to you when you get 5 mins scroll back and have a read, I know exactly what you meen about no provisions, the expected me at Georges bedside 24hrs yet they didn't feed me or give vouchers for the canteen so I had to rely on DH bringing junk food in, I don't drive so I couldn't even nip home for a meal whilst DH stayed with George. DH stayed over one night in the hospital so I got at least one good nights sleep and some food.
George also has to go back to the hospital in 4 weeks time as they have picked up a heart murmour but this may have been caused by the bronchilitis (blood rushing round so much quicker) so may dissapear, I'm just trying not to think about it at all. He's on antibiotics three times a day and 2 doses of iron a day, but is looking and sounding much much better, and as I said before he is smiling so all is forgiven.

Hope you are feeling much better soon, hang in there, good on you for loosing it with the nurses
and your milk will be back in no time. Cat me if you need to chat. xx (((((HUGS))))

awayninahmanger · 03/01/2006 21:21

Am I stupid or what I have been looking for you guys on the ante natal thread - DUH! wondered why it had gone so quiet and how everyone was getting on! oh dear I thought it was just pregnancy that did this? SH I was wondering about the op and here it is ... Hope Lucas has settled a bit now? there are some AWFUL bugs going around, Louis and I have both have cough from hell which is no fun when your pelvic 'floor' is swinging round your ankles. Those exercises - are they a wind up? I mean I do what I think is the right kind of clench but it's not as if you can use a mirror like at the gym!
Arianna (well we have not decided finally either TC, I LOVE this name but p not keen) is a really contented baby, sleeps nearly all day, just wakes up for feeds, stretches like a cat, winds and curls up again, she'll curl up over your shoulder or on your lap and loves being cuddled. She feeds quite a lot at night but in a businesslike way, eat, wind and sleep again. Ds was much MUCH more demanding to look after, colicky, crying all the time, difficult to get to feed ... if he'd been the second would have been a rude shock whereas this is a real bonus! esp as ds is reacting quite markedly to the fact that he is no longer no 1 and I try to give him as much individual time in the daytime as I can. He is very gentle and protective with Arianna but quite resentful of me at the moment and lots of attention seeking tantrums etc. Is Adam like this in any way Nemo?
I am really enjoying time at home with the children though, loving it actually. Cos p is really tied up with work it's just us, which is great. I am co-sleeping with Arianna which I never imagined I'd do but I am loving it and I feel free to show her all the love and affection I feel (with ds p was keen to introduce quite a regimented approach and as it was all new to me and he'd had a child already I compromised towards his way more than I'd do now). I remember one time he'd made breakfast for me dss and himself and insisted we all sit down to it at the double despite the fact ds needed feeding, he actually took ds off my breast and put him in his cot - luckily someone rang doorbell and created a diversion but it was so distressing. Also I am realising what great friends I have made now I've lived and worked here a bit longer, have had marvellous company and support which has given me enormous confidence and self belief.
House goes on market tomorrow. I feel SO happy and lucky with my children I could move mountains.
Love to all ninah (sorry too tired to change Xmas name back)

REPOST ALAERT - SORRY.

Posting for JaysFirst

Hi, just to let you know that Jay has given birth to baby Harriette.

03.01.2006
8.55am
9lbs 5oz
23.5 inches long (.5 inch off 2 foot long!)

Um, she will write up the labour story later I guess. But she is in for 48 hr plus observations due to water breaking then a 40 hour wait before birth. "True Labour" was about 8 hours for the 1st stage and 1.5 for the second. No water birth, she had to go it alone, the epidural didnt work as Jay has bad scarring on her back due to a disk operation and she didnt like the G&A.
She did really well, didnt even scream. Made my life easy!

Anyway, that's the scoop. Pictures on www.peanutmonkey.co.uk
