If it saved us dh tax return it would be a start! Though I'd be able to do that now anyway, I've more time than last year.

Think I'm a bit squeamish for a MW/nurse!

You could set up your own business with book keeping, it's seems pretty ideal in some respects if you have littlies.

Report
SpringFlowers · 11/08/2011 21:11

You could almost certainly start a book-keeping course in September and maybe a second course to formalise your secretarial skills. It would just be a matter of time until you could get out then. The fact that you are doing the courses will help at interview. I know you need a steady income, but after a while you could do book-keeping from home too.

bff, thanks - I shall wear my hippy tree-hugger crown with pride!

hj, sounds so tough re the jobs/finances. Hope you work something out.
I should do this AAT thing - those are my initials! :)
I also thought I should work for the Association of British Insurers so I could be [email protected]! :)

Wow you lot have been chatty today Smile just took me ages to catch up.
Mock I get about 150ml a time- It used to be 300 but my supply is dwindling- which is probably my fault as I don't express as often as I used to. Trib I do it 2/3 times a day (or once today as I have been busy)
HJ hope that you find your new career direction and Spring can you send me a dose of that motivation for the new term please Grin
I went shopping for new clothes today as my wardrobe is looking very sorry for itself. How come when you go with the intention of spending you can never find anything you like? I am going to have to try again another time. Though I did see lots of cute things for DD but managed to resist...for now.

HJ - I just looked at the AAT website. It sounds really good, there are loads of options about how you study which make the courses really accessible. It might be worth finding out how easily you can switch between methods of study; if you start from home but find it isolating it would be good to know that you could join a course instead.

BP - I think you've done really well to keep expressing, I've never got that much and dd has never drunk my expressed milk Sad. I am dropping the afternoon feed at the moment as I don't want to express at work when I go back. Last term I was just doing it to keep my supply up for the holidays but next term is too long. My guilt is that she won't drink milk at all if I don't feed her and she's not a massive eater. I'm trying to expand her food repertoire at the moment and have introduced snacks morning and afternoon. At one time she would only eat foods she could feed herself which was very tiresome as she choked a lot. Great for blw but not great if you need calorie intake. Now she'll let me help her as long as her hands are in the food Hmm

I must try and sleep now...

I just tried to post...the mm server is being updated. I was sent back to a year ago when my baby always woke my between 3 and 3.30 am. I even briefly felt like getting up for cornflakes Grin. I've been feeling really broody for the last couple of days and has that little buzz of excitement in my tummy that I might have another baby. Of course it's all a bit unnecessary; dh is not convinced and I'd have to wait until dd was three for free nursery mornings. If I was really being unnessecery I'd work out when that was...

Jab 14 spring we've worked out dd3 misses being at school with dd2 by a term!

I'm awake but dd3 isn't. I've been dreaming of doing productive things like tidying the loft/cellar/ wormery/garden.thinking of getting up but if I do & don't hear dd3 she will wake dh who only finished work at 11:30.
She fedall night but that's better than nipping me & crying all night

Morning...a short night, time to get up now Sad. Dd has learned to point, very cute. I'm a bit worried that she can't crawl though, us there anyone else whose baby isn't crawling yet?

Report
TribbleWithoutACause · 12/08/2011 10:22

spring DS isnt crawling yet, he rolls and in the last few days has sort of learned to drag himself forwards. I'm not too worried about it, some babies take longer than others. My friend said either they walk before they talk or they talk before they walk. DS is very chatty so I figure he's already got a lot to be getting on with. HTH.

Report
HarrietJones · 12/08/2011 11:09

Dd1 was a talker & didn't crawl til she was at least 11 months.
Dd2 crawled/walked v early but talked Vv late
Dd3 v mobile for ages but only started babbling yesterday. Her signing isn't bad though.

Friends dd has about 6 words and is a month older than dd3. She has just started crawling. Her speech is sooo cute though!

Just back from a mammoth walk. My legs feel like they are going to fall off!

Had DS weighed and measured, now he is 10 months. Born at 25th%ile, was 50th%ile for a while, but he's now between 75th and 91st for weight, and 91st for height (I think, might have gotten that the wrong way round). KNEW he was getting to be a heavy monkey!

Don't worry about crawling and walking - I walked very early when I was a baby (eight months) - hasn't put me at any advantage in life, so don't sweat it! Enjoy that you can chill a bit more!

BP (should change your name to BusyExpressing!) - ultimate kudos to you for expressing all this time. Really awesome effort. I can't remember - why could you not BF directly?

Check your DS out NoHun! Does it make you proud that you got him to that weight?! DD is a skinny mini but has gone from 5th to 18th centile so I am very pleased with that.

Spring- I wouldn't worry. Lots of people get hung up on achievement of gross motor skills but I bet she's doing stuff others cannot.

Report
NoHunIntended · 12/08/2011 17:01

I don't know, really! I was still mega proud when he was born at 25th%ile! SOMEONE's got to be at the small end!

Report
MockingbirdsNotForSale · 12/08/2011 17:26

Yup, I'm not exactly large....

Report
SpringFlowers · 12/08/2011 20:35

We are the small end or 'petite' as I prefer Smile. Dd is not yet 16lbs and is just below the 9th percentile. She look like a baby doll with long (long enough to tie up) chestnut hair and delicate features. She as born on the 50th which makes health professionals all jittery. I think that was mainly because I stuffed so much food while pregnant Blush. My weight gain was mammoth.

We went swimming for the first time today and it was fantastic. Dd loved the whole experience. She's a fabulous swimmer already Grin.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

How do they know?!! I'm doing my first proper morning of work tomorrow and dd has been shrieking for well over 1.5hrs . Settles for 10mins then up again! Given in and given her night feed early. It's going to be really hard to stop night feeds :(

Spring dd's not crawling yet. She swirls around or wriggles forward a bit but still doesn't quite get her knees up yet. I'm fine with that - dreading the babyproofing motion will require! We are not naturally tidy in our house! Her bumshuffling is coming on nicely. She is very chatty like her brother.

BP another one here impressed with your expressing. Also envious of the amount you can produce.

Floozie Did you get my PM? My internet went down for 2 days straight after I sent it to you and I am not sure if it got to you.

I have done no baby proofing at all Blush I really should; living in a half finished house, there are potential death traps everywhere. The stand alone TV speakers are the focus of attention at the moment. She keeps crawling up to them and inspecting them. She knows what no means and will obey to a point. There is now a dog bed blocking the standard lamp as she's grabbed it and toppled it on top of herself.

I've just no loads as she's approached the speaker so instead she's opened a drawer and is stood over it removing the contents.....

Report
HarrietJones · 13/08/2011 12:10

We've removed most things from the living room. It's gated at all points , cellar has a lock on, drawer locks in the bathroom. Fire guarded.
