Hi all. Sorry, i've not had chance to catch up really. Hope we all had a good first Christmas. I have to say, ds has been rather testing for the past week. Christmas day he was an absolute joy, but 3 days before and since then, he's been an absolute nightmare. I think he's teething so he's done nothing but cry or moan all day every day.

I really cannot believe how much stuff one little boy can have. My house is quite small anyway, but now its just full with ds's toys and clothes etc. We've even had to leave some and my mums and dps mums because we don't have room. Can't you tell he's the first grandchild. Please tell me it gets better when you have more.

Feel a bit rubbish today. Too much to drink and eat. You'd think i'd learn, but no. Not me

eastyorksmum · 28/12/2005 13:54

JonahB · 28/12/2005 17:15

Afternoon all.

Happy birthday katz!! Sorry its slightly belated.

Trib, sorry to hear about your bump, glad that no one was hurt.

Our Christmas wasn?t the best. I got flu, then DH caught it. DS hasn?t been too bad, just very snotty. I did give him some calpol today as he was feeling under the weather. However, we still had the family round on Christmas day. DS seemed to enjoy the constant attention, influx of all things primary coloured and plastic, but his special enjoyment was directed at all the lovely wrapping paper there was to chew. Bless him.

Hope all you ladies and babies are having a good day. Wrap up warm, its so cold?.bbbrrrr?..

SKYLERtnightholynight · 28/12/2005 18:40

Hello
Just got back from a BBQ lol.
I must stress that dd2 is definately not crawling yet, but looks so close....
Trib - at your car 'bump' particularly the damage caused. Was it a crumple zone crumpling???
Jonah - Hope you are feeling better. Both my dd's are very snotty at the moment and coughing a lot at night.
EYM - Hello
Giddy - Hello, glad your xmas was ok too. I don't know how you didn't say something to your FIL.
SFX - Wow what a marathon journey you had. Glad it seemed to be worth it though
2many - My family bought milk choc drops for dd1's first Christmas too. I still don't let her have a whole packet and she is 3 in March. I am a mean Mummy, especially considering how much chocolate I eat .
Trouble - Our family are geographically close too so means driving around at xmas usually. Next year I will have people to me I think, esp as MIL wants us but my mum and stepdad were on their own this year so I want them to be with us next year. All four of us kids were with the inlaws (or abroad in my case) very bad planning but Mum said she had a nice lazy day opening all their presents in the morning in their pyjamas and drinking lots of wine lol.
Right have to dash as have thank you letters to do.
Bye for now.xxx
P.S. Anyone hear from Lippy, KVG, or Charley??

Oooh Giddy, sounds a bit much to me . Just rememeber this wonderful strong man is all yours, and that nurse knows it. She must be SOOOOO jealous.

2manyglassesofmulledwine · 29/12/2005 17:01

Good grief! It's all very well if she's just some random silly mare who doesn't know the difference between funny and really very un-funny behaviour; but to do this in her position is totally unprofessional IMO.
Skyler's right, he's YOURS so tough titty to her! Silly woman.

tribpot · 29/12/2005 19:26

Giddy, agree with the others, the woman sounds mad. I would suggest one of you has a word with her and explains that it embarrasses dh when she says things like that, even though of course you know she is only joking (not).

Sky - could have been a crumple zone, I know not what they are!

MrsCD, hope you're catching up with your sleep.

DS has gone off his food today. He has Y-cut teats because he's on Omneo Comfort, which is quite thick. I hadn't realised quite how bad the teats had got, i.e. the Y has become much, much bigger. Bought him some new ones and he can't seem to be bothered to suck hard enough to get the milk out now. Mind you, I gave him an old one in desperation to get some grub into him and he was exactly the same. He seems fine, although masses of drooling and ear pulling, are the new teats just a coincidence and this is (finally) teething in earnest?

snowfallatxmasmum · 29/12/2005 20:06

hello junies, let me try to catch up

skyler- BBQ's walks on the beach...what are you expats like with your funny foreign waysbet you cant wait to get back to freezing old britain

giddy - clearly an insane moo in heatand the sort of behaviour which can lead to disciplinary action imo. the cheek!

trib - oh mil and their opinions on weaning, mine clearly disapproved of our ways but mostly kept it to herself except for 'is she having any food now? -no she just nursed - i mean proper food not milk
glad no injuries came out of the crash

eym - sounds like you had a nice time and found some needed comfort. really good news about little georgia too.

troubles - i am having similar sleep patterns and she has been really crotchety during the day, pretty sure its teething too, it may be some time, take heart.

2manny - what is it with fil and giving infants inappropriate chewing material, mine kept saying oh just let her choose what she likes...? the menu of poisoning and death!

katz - very late, but i hope you had a good birthday

jonah - what a nightmare hope you and yours are feeling better

mrsCD - i feel your pain, one day we will have a full nights sleep...maybe.

mandy - hope it all goes well in the run up to nursery day.

i had a terrible migraine on wednesday, no doubt as a result of that journey home and extreme lack of sleep. today i had a long sleep in the morning while dh took care of dd, so glad he is home until next week.
take care all and wrap up warm

I'm really crap at keeping up with people if it helps. I haven't got a clue who's little ones can sit up/crawl or anything. I just know mine is a lazy little boy and he is quite happy to sit propped up on the sofa or having a kick on the floor. Seems to have absolutely no interest in sitting, rolling over or crawling yet.

Actually, talking of taking the kiddies to shops, ds seems to loathe Next. Everytime i go in that shop, he screams his little head off and i have to leave. Its so strange because he'll go from being really happy to just bawling. And everyone stares at me as if i've just hit him or something, which i haven't. So embarrassing

We have been getting on so well with our weaning lately. Ds loves his breakfast, and i never seem to do enough , and we've been having lunch for the past 3 days. The first two were not too good but today he ate absolutely loads and he is learning very quickly. I only have to put the spoon close to him and his mouth it wide open waiting for it. The problem is his blinkin' arms and legs get too excited so it goes absolutely everywhere....that and the fact that i'm actually a really rubbish shot!

Dp's sister had a baby today. A little boy. So ds has his first cousin. I can't believe how diddy he looks. Ds was 7 lb 14 oz, and his cousin is 8lb 1oz and i'm sure he's much smaller than ds was. But you tend to forget actually how small they were after a while.

Anyway, i've rambled lots today, so i'll be off

teabelly · 29/12/2005 20:56

Evening ladies

Glad to see everyone had a good Christmas . All was well in the Teabelly household too, even if ds did insist on trying to stay up and look out for Santa despite the fact his tired little head was lolling this way and that so much I thought it may actually fall off!

Trib - at the crash - blooming cars, hope it's all sorted with minimal fuss asap. Has ds has a cold recently? I only ask cos it's the only time dd goes off her feeds, so it may be something like that? Or maybe he really wasn't that hungry that day...not a concept I adhere to, but I understand others sometimes eat less on occassion

Katz - happy belated birthday wishes, and wow for dd2 sitting up by herself...Amber's trying it but only succeeds in making herself sick with all the stomach crunching the process requires!

Giddy - beautiful house - fancy a swap he he he. at the nurse and her basic instinct auditions! Next time tell her she should have listened to her mum and worn clean knickers if she's going to show them off - that will embarrass her!

Skyler - am very of your nice hot Christmas...we'll get out own back tho - next year you won't be prepared for the cold like the rest of us

Bubb - he he he at ds's blue tongue - dd did the same only hers was red!!!

SFX - hope your migraine has cleared.

Jonah - at your flu - hope it clears quickly for you.

Mrs Flowerpot - hello delurk more often if you get the chance

2Many/Troubles/EYM/Cratchit/Mrs CD - glad to see you were all having a great Christmas too

Right hope I haven't missed anyone! Hope all lurkee's also had a great time and their lo's new toys have now taken over every spare inch of space in their house like mine has, he he he!

Take care, catch you all later x.

Oh before I forget, I posted a help request to Yahoo about my inability to access the photo's pages on the yahoo group...anyone else having trouble?? I think you were Mrs CD?? Yahoo thought it may be my provider...I don't - I'm with NTL - who are those having troubles too with? - thanks girls

teabelly · 29/12/2005 20:59

Blimey - you write an epic and two sneak in when you weren't looking

Giddy - was that the new one at Milton Keyenes? where about's is it - my mum's driving me mad about going

Troubles - get some of those long armed bibs and then you won't care how messy it gets

LOL at the shopaphobic babies DS2 loves shopping, he gets more attention in Morrisons (that's about all the shopping I do, I hate it) than he does at home.

Giddy, the woman sounds completely bonkers and quite frightening too.

Tea, bless your DS trying to stay awake to see Santa. How long did he stay up for? DS1 was most taken by the fact that the reindeer had taken 3 big bites of the cucumber he'd left out for them

Trouble, so lovely for your DS to have his first cousin. I know what you mean, I went to see my friend's baby in hospital on Saturday (the day after he was born) and although he was 8lb 8oz he seemed so tiny.

The sleep has been a bit better in this house, only up once a night for the last couple of nights but I'm expecting a bad one tonight as DS2 has been ill today. Poor little thing has got a tummy bug, suddenly went completely pale and threw up one full bottle of milk all over me, his car seat and himself (twice). Once his stomach was empty he started throwing up bile . I feel so much of a paranoid mum about him in a way that I wasn't about DS1 (perhaps because of his birth, the 'stairs incident' etc) so took him to the doctors who said it wasn't anything serious. So I suppose he'll be up loads, either hungry or sick, tonight.

Jonah, hope you are all feeling better now. Perhaps Christmas would be better being moved to the summer (or Cyprus), to avoid all these bugs around in the winter - it seems lots of people have been poorly.

Trib, what a complete nightmare about your car. Will email you now.x

Bed time for me, should try and get a relatively early night in preparation for the long one ahead... It's one step forward two steps back with this bloody sleep lark.

Night all.x

SKYLERtnightholynight · 30/12/2005 05:59

Hello
So lovely to read all these posts this morning. However I haven't taken notes......
Giddy - Nightmare about taking dd2 out. I hope she will grow out of it for you. I wonder if there is just too much going on for her.
Troublesmummy - My dd1 hated a kitchen shop I used to go to in York. I was trying to buy something for my sister and she screamed everytime we got in there and was fine as soon as we went out . I went in and out five times before being able to buy what I wanted . I have only taken dd2 to the supermarket and corner shop so no real shopping experience there yet. Wait till we get back to the Uk hee hee hee. Congrats on the new baby in the family too.
Trib - I don't really know what a crumple zone is either but know that a little knock can cause lots of damage if it causes one to go. I think they are there to minimise impact in a big accident. I reckon your ds going off food could well be teeth. I think they either love or hate things in their mouths when they are teething. I am sure it won't last long so try not to worry.
Tea - I love your posts. They make me lol
SFX - Oh yes expats are a funny lot
Mrs CD - Poor ds2. I hope he is better soon and that your night was OK.
Well dd is still up every three hours but there is a kind of regularity to it that I can cope with. DD1 however has a nappy free night last night and the result was her waking at 4 am to wee in her potty and then come into our bed to wake me up to tell me. I call that a result even with the extra night waking. Gosh though that reminds me we have all got up and had breakfast and I have forgotten to deal with the potty!
Right had better get to it. We are sorting and packing today.
The UK is going to be FRREEEEEEEEZING when we get back isn't it??

SKYLERtnightholynight · 30/12/2005 06:03

Have to tell you that my Dad sent over some 'Singing Westies' for dd1 for Christmas. They sing 'I got you babe' as a duet. They are slowly driving dh and I mad but the dd's are LOVING them and dd1 knows all the words lol. They ae funny.

2happy · 30/12/2005 13:28

Singing Westies, lol!

Trib - hope ds is eating better today

SFX - hope the migraine is better

Giddy - isn't it always a mistake to go anywhere near an Ikea at sales time anyway?! You should have said to dd "yes I know you're crying because you've been frightened by that nasty ugly man staring at you like that"!

Troubles - congrats to dp's sister. Can't remember at all when ds was that small. Or that floppy - remember when they had no head control at all? Was frightened to pick mine up, now swing him around like a dafty to get him laughing!

teabelly - I emailed yahoo a bit ago about this, they said we'd exceeded our quota on the photos and deleted some, which solved the problem, but by that evening it had stopped working again. I don't know why they don't just stop letting people post pictures when the quota is reached.

Mrs Wednesday - your poor ds2, hope he's feeling better today

Skyler - clever dd1! My dsis gave ds a book for christmas called "potty poo poo wee wee" which looks just fab for potty training! (some way off that though I think!)

Well the snow has turned to sleet, so I don't think it'll be long before it's all melted . John Lewis have delivered the material I ordered, so now can make curtains! Yay, first step to getting this house a little warmer. Next step, get the plumber to hurry up and fit the central heating. By the time he comes it'll be spring and we won't need it! Hope you're all keeping nice and warm ladies, bit different to the weather when our little babies were born isn't it?!

2HappyNewYear · 30/12/2005 13:29

Ooh great, I get to have a festive hogmanay name too!

hello all

having some really nice days, minus migraine, with dh and dd. will have family here tomorrow so that should be nice.

dd still struggling with teeth, its clear they are about to cut and she seems to try and be cheerful. she has been rolling around a lot, same goes for non stop chatter. but not so great with the food we are sticking to cold fruit purees, everything else gets spat out.

i could do with a bit more sleep, as usual

kvg - never a dull moment! g
hope you are recovering well

question - has anyone bought highchairs yet? any ideas recommendations? think this was mentioned sometime ago and the tripp trapp seemed to be a favourite
