mrsflowerpot · 23/12/2005 12:35

Hello ladies

Very quick post to say Merry Christmas to you all and to all Junie babies, even though as ds said to me this morning 'Babies don't need Christmas really, it's more for the bigger brothers I think' (think he is worried about dd's presents taking up valuable space in Santa's sleigh...)

Have a lovely one everybody, see you in 2006!

2manyglassesofmulledwine · 23/12/2005 18:47

May/may not lurk/post again before sunday. In case not, merry christmas everyone.
Love to all the Junies and their families xxx

Thehollyandthejonah · 23/12/2005 19:01

Merry christmas from the jonah house too!!!!

I hope that santa brings you and all your lovely junie babies everything they want (and things they don?t want, but can happily chew the wrapping paper for a while)?

Got mine, thanks very much Secret Santa

Phew. All the presents are wrapped and under the tree, the stockings are filled and the milk and cucumber (DS2's idea, I talked him out of leaving an onion) are laid out for the reindeer. Santa will be having a glass of red at this house too

Hope you all have a wonderful day, and that all the Junie babies enjoy their first Christmas.x

tribpot · 25/12/2005 09:37

Merry Christmas Junies! We are running around like mad things trying to get ready to leave but I have to log on to print out our reservation details at the various hotels we are staying in.

Theoretically going to East Anglia on Tuesday - the day there is a severe weather warning out because of snow. So will be revising that plan on the day if need be!

Sorry I'm a day late Katz, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you. Hope you had a lovely day. at your DD2 sitting up on her own as a present to you! DS2 has just started to do this too and looks very pleased with himself. He does have a tendency to fall over if he turns to look at anything though.

Lovely Christmas here too, DS1 was very well-behaved, played happily with all of his presents and generally made his mummy and daddy very proud. DS2 did a lot of smiling and enjoyed having lots of cuddles from all the family.

We've even got a bit of snow here today! Only a dusting but it does look very festive.

Am bloody knackered though after too many late nights - both DSs have been waking up for various reasons so have been up 4 times a night for the last couple of nights and it's taking its toll. Might go for a little lie-down on the settee whilst DS2 is asleep and DS1 is happily watching cartoons...

Hope you're all having a lovely time.x

baubleloo · 27/12/2005 10:31

Morning All,

Happy belated birthday Katz.

Also had a lovely christmas here too.It was so good not having to cook for everyone, but the down side of going to a carvery was having to queue up(with loads and loads of others!)for our main course.Didn't get back till 8pm which was nice and the last lot went just after midnight so wasn't too bad.Only had 6 for dinner yesterday and had bought a HUGE lump of salt beef,so now have loads left over in the freezer-yum.
Had to laugh at Oscar-We surrounded him with his pressies(so we could take pics etc...) but when I looked he had pulled a tag off and was sucking it.His little mouth and tongue were both blue, from the ink.

Have also had some snow here this morning. It started coming down very heavy and was settling, but now the sun is out,it's stopped which is a pity. The good news is that Dh can now go in the garden and put up the garden swing that Ds got from his auntie and uncle.

Hope everyone else is ok and having a nice time.xxx

Hello all
A belated Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday to Katz
We have had a WONDERFUL time (although it has been odd not to see any family).
We had a tremendous lunch and afternoon at The Four Seasons hotel which was such a good idea. They even had Santa coming round with presents for the girls, both of whom were wonderfully behaved and we got to sit outside in the sunshine having a hot chocolate and enjoyed a walk along the beach before gettting home to open our presents which were all fab . We went to a Christingle service on Christmas Eve and made it to the All age service on Christmas Day which was aimed at the children and so full of 'happy clappy' songs and really friendly.
Yesterday we went out to the mess and today I have spent all day cooking doing Nigellas Gammon in Coca Cola (yummy) with corn and mashed potatoes and veggies as well as sausage rolls and a beef casserole to freeze for New Years Day. I also managed sweet potato, parsnip, brocolli and carrots for dd2. Phew. Am worn out now and so enjoying a glass of Chardonnay while dh baths the girls.
DD2 has another two teeth (eight now) and so e have had some terrible nights with her up every hour despite Calpol and tetthing powders. I am knackered but thankfully dh is off work to help. Her sleeping is terrible. The longest stretch she has had in the past week is three and a half hours this lunchtime . It can't last much longer though....can it????
DD2 is not taking to weaning as well as dd1 did. She likes the taste I think but it is a bit hit and miss with her managing to get the food to the back of her mouth to swallow without choking so we are taking it slowly. Sometimes she has no problem and the next mouthful has her coughing/choking away . Still she has had a good variety of veggies so far so I will keep plodding on. On the upside she is great at sitting up (doesn't throw herself backwards like dd1 used to all the time and she is really nearly crawling properly. She also pulled herself up on my fingers to standing and took quite deliberate steps towards me on Christmas Day. She obviously has no balance etc but it did make us get very excited for her. Her nappy rash is still bad though due to this constant teething I think ans so she has been in disposables for weeks now. Right that is enough waffling about me and my life. Hope the rest of you are well. Have been thinking of you. Byeeee

tribpot · 27/12/2005 16:44

Merry Christmas to all and a very happy birthday to Katz! Well done lil Miss Katz on a fine sitting up performance.

We have got back a little sooner than expected - ladies prepare for the second of Tribpot's Adventures in Snow and Ice. Today we were meant to be having a very rushed lunch with my bro and family, and my dad, step-mum and half-sister, before legging it from the Midlands to East Anglia for a memorial service for dh's grandpa. Because of the snow, we had decided not to go to East Anglia, so could have a civilised lunch before heading home. However, turning a corner in the pub car park, the car went into a very gentle skid and slid into (and up) the kerb. A bit of a bump, ds cried for a moment in surprise but I was never the slightest bit concerned for his safety, so it was really the least frightening car 'crash' I've ever had.

Got out to assess the damage and the car is undrivable! Somehow this mild prang had managed to knacker the suspension to the point where the wheel could not longer turn in the wheel arch. So now the dilemma was: phone the AA for a tow truck before lunch and hope they are slow, or phone after lunch and hope they are fast. Went for option one and so ended up having to leave even more abruptly than if we had gone to East Anglia after all! We went in the tow truck and the AA man towed the car to Leeds (thank god the M1 Northbound bore no resemblance to the M1 Southbound, which was basically at a standstill from Sheffield to London).

Ds behaved beautifully throughout this, even going to sleep despite the funny angle of his car seat in the truck meant dh had to hold his head in place. He has been very good all Xmas, although my grandma tells me I 'fuss' him too much (this is defined as 'picking him up, kissing him, and not letting him have the white chocolate drops she'd bought for him').

Glad to be home, and all in one piece anyway!

Giddy, glad your Xmas was not the soap opera-style nightmare it could have been!

mandymac · 27/12/2005 16:52

Brrrrrr! Evening Junies (I know its only 4.45pm, but with the snow it looks like the evening to me).

Katz belated Happy Birthday wishes. Well done Jnr Katz on the sitting.

EYM glad the church service has made you feel like that! Lovely to hear that Georgia is doing so well too!

Giddy - Your house looks lovely in the snow, I hope you had a good Christmas!

Skyler - How lovely to be sat outside with a hot chocolate! Prepare yourself for the cold here - I'm guessing it will be a shock to the system for all of you. I am planning to leave the heating on tonight, which I never do, but its supposed to be minus 3 or even minus 5 tonight .

Well ladies, we had a good Christmas at my inlaws, but came back a day earlier than planned due to the weather. DD was a bit unsettled down there too - too many people and too much rustling wrapping paper I guess. I've only got a week now till she starts at nursery and shes still not taken a full feed from a beaker - yikes! No pressure there then.

Off to scoff a mince piexxx

evening junies

am really tired after a very long drive home, over 7hrs is a little more that i can take particularly since we were stuck in endless queues

dd hates the carseat and screams her head off if left there for longer than an hour, and will not sleep

on the plus side christmas was lovely and dd was a star very at ease with all the family. i had to make sure she had plenty of down time and all her naps to be able to cope with all the excitement and serial chewing of wrapping paper.

had a quick read and am glad you all seem well, must get some rest.
good night all

2manyglassesofmulledwine · 28/12/2005 11:01

Good morning ladies, great to catch up on everyone's christmases.

Katz - (very late) happy birthday, hope you had a brilliant day.

Trib - glad it wasn't a big bump, but that your car is undrivable, hope it fixes ok.

Mrs CD - hope you got some sleep!

Skyler - 8 teeth and crawling?! Wow! Hope you got some sleep too!

Giddy - glad you had a good christmas day

SFX - hope you've recovered from your long journey. Great the day all went well.

Mandymac - good luck with the beaker. Which one are you going to use?

EYM - glad you had a peaceful christmas and that georgia is coming on. Sounds like the baptism will be beautiful, what a nice priest.

Baubleloo - salt beef till next christmas then?!

Secret Santa - thank you very much for my present. dh got to wear the lip gloss when I kissed him after putting it on, he went round for ages with shiny lips

We had a busy Christmas - we live so near to both famlies we felt we had to do both, which meant we kept having to zoom between them both which probably wasn't the best idea. ds had a great time eating wrapping paper that mil and fil kept giving him until I took it away from him (bad dil!! but was getting sick of fishing great lumps of papier mache out of his gob!). Is all snowy here now and very cold. ds sat staring out of the window at the flakes coming down this morning, mesmerised. I can't believe this is our first christmas all over already! It's been lovely, here's to the next one!!!
