Sassy20 · 26/07/2011 09:58

Meant to add that L swims in her swim nappy as do all the other babies in the group.

Cyclebump · 26/07/2011 10:33

I so want to take H swimming but am a bit nervous about taking him by myself. I can't see any classes near me but I'll keep looking.

Sounds like a crap night Lis, have a Brew

I've just hoovered the stairs, I am superwoman. If only Hmm

fraktious · 26/07/2011 10:54

Those in the hampered by cloth bum crew what are you using? M can roll in BG flips and v4s but I wonder whether the wonderoos and MEs are stopping him rolling at night, which is not a bad thing!

M just wears a swim nappy, not that we go very often. We have a super cute UV suit for when we're in Mauritius as well Grin 10 days til moving, 3 weeks til holiday!

Thanks for saving me JKS!! I didn't know that milk ducts were sinuses, everyday's a school day!

I've just filled in I's passport application form online. Over the weekend dh and I were talking about a holiday, then last night it dawned on me that I will need a passport. Can you imagine turning up at the airport then realising your lo doesn't have a passport!!

I think you can get reusable cloth swim nappies, Kushies I think they're called. I have no idea if they contain liquid poo though.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/07/2011 10:59

Where are you moving to Frakk, and where are you going on your holiday?

The sound of island hopping to Mauritius sounds so glam!

fraktious · 26/07/2011 11:53

We're moving a quarter of the way around the island (so about 30miles!) but I'm finding it more stressful than any international or even intercontinental move we've done!

Mauritius is our holiday :) DH's 1st proper holiday since South Africa back in Jan. The only way he gets actual time off is leaving the country Hmm

Afternoon all :)

Lis So sorry to hear about your grandad. Hugs fr yu.

Welcme t Gnger als :)

R did her first half roll over last night too! DP was unimpressed as he missed it so apparently it doesn't count until he see's her doing it!! She also does the shuffling thing, I put her down on the floor and come back to find she's scooted a good foot from where she started off! She makes crawling attempts when on her tummy also.

Took her and DSS swimming on Saturday and she didn't not like it but I think the pool was a bit on the cool side for her as every time I tried to lie her back she started screaming. In the end I only kept her in for 10 minutes as she looked a bit cold and was starting to shiver!! Plan for next tme is to find a warmer pool! I got huggies little swimmers in Tesco, 6 nappies and a little hooded towel for £3 - think they're on special just now. I already had a swimming costume for her - super cute!!

My body can't decide whether it's having the cold or not, keep getting sore throat and a wee cough but that's all it's come to so far, still feel a bit pants with that though!!

MrsWajs · 26/07/2011 13:57

Bloody o's and i's are at it again!!

chillikat · 26/07/2011 14:07

Lis sorry to hear your news :(

Welcome newcomers Wine or Brew as preferred.

No rolling here, though she was on her side this morning before going into the cloth nappy. She can do the strange breakdancing on her back movement thing and is trying really hard to do the commando crawl during no nappy tummy time. Unfortunately it usually results in being a bit sick too.

Cyclebump · 26/07/2011 19:14

We have loads of chat but barely any attempts at crawling/rolling. I think he's just lazy Grin

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 26/07/2011 19:22

Cycle DS1 was lazy, incredibly so. I remember being desperate for him to show some inclination to move.
He spent 3 hours running around the garden with only a t-shirt on this afternoon (we are potty training) so it hasn't lasted Grin

T has just rolled over in his vibrating chair Hmm Shan't be using that anymore then!!

17 weeks

BuckminsterFullerene · 26/07/2011 19:28

same here cycle, except its more because he won't spend more than 10th mins in one place without screeching for improves entertainment.

LisMcA · 26/07/2011 19:30

Well believe it or not we made it to the surgery on time, only to be told the clinic was running late!! 2nd Jabs done and he seems fine, if a little reluctant to sleep through the day today. But we were out and about.

Booked for baby swim lessons, they start next Sunday. On that. went into Mothercare to look at swim wear for B. The had normal swin shorts and a swim nappy, which didn;t look any different to the shorts. Towling liner with elasticated leg holes. Would you wear a disposable "huggies" type nappy with the ones called a swim nappy? Stood there for ages and couldn't work it out. If B decided to one of his poos while we were int he pool there is no way eiter garment would contain the poo. A normal nappy has difficulty doing that!

Had my hair cut too, do you like it :) My only request was that I could still tie it back and she has done a longish choppy bob with a heavy fringe. God I feel human, almost, again!!

Does every baby have waxy ears?? Bs ears are almost always leaking yellow goo. I worry because I had glue ear when I was little with recurrent infections and had to have operations to fix things. I don;t want him to go trough the same. I do have to resist the urge to clean them out with a cotton bud .

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/07/2011 19:39

Shock & Grin at rolling over in the chair!

Be thankful Cycle, it is a pita when they start to move.

Ds2 didn't move very much for ages, then all of a sudden he could navigate a whole room by just rolling over and over again, then he crawled for a short while, then a week after his first birthday he walked and never looked back. He never cruised furniture and he was never interested in putting weight through his feet or walking along with me holding his hands. Mind you I never encouraged him to walk holding onto my hands - it bloody kills your back!

A holiday to Mauritius sounds lovely Frakk. Getting workaholic dh to go away on holiday is the only way I can get dh away from work as well

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/07/2011 19:41

Love the hair Lis, it suits you Grin

No idea about earwax, sorry!

BuckminsterFullerene · 26/07/2011 20:06

why don't I just express milk and pour it straight over clean clothes/bedding? Cut out the middle baby man. Much more efficient.

He's refusing to sleep tonight. Won't be fed or rocked to sleep. Just wants to grizzle/play/talk to himself. I've left him to it before I get too wound up this time.

Fortunately DH has just got home and is making yummy dinner.

MrsWajs · 26/07/2011 20:09

Yay Lis I do love your hair! Mainly cus mine is almost identical!! hehe :)

Cyclebump · 26/07/2011 20:43

H has just gone down and I'm still wide awake, sigh.

Took H on a trek across London to visit my colleagues today. Two hours there and an hour and a half back Shock He was fab until the last couple of minutes when he started to scream. Cheered up as soon as we were on the train and I held him up to see through the window.

H loves being held up so he's putting weight on his feet but being balanced by me or DP. So perhaps he'll surprise me and start running around soon.

Starshaped · 26/07/2011 21:10

P has just taken an hour to settle to sleep...arrrgh! I left DH to do the dirty work but could hear all the screaming and desperate lullabying through the monitor. Horrible! I wanted to charge in there and try and do it myself. Poor DH, and poor P!

She's been trying to roll over today but can't seem to get the hang of it. One of her arms is permanently stuck in the wrong place. TBH, I'm quite happy with her not being mobile at the moment. Our living room is hopelessly non childproof. Something we'll definitely need to sort out in the next few months.

DairyBeetle · 26/07/2011 21:40

Has anyone else managed to forget that their baby can't do something yet? Like umm, maybe forgetting the can't sit unaided?! Blush I just plonked S on the bed earlier and let go. Don't know where my brain went and am thankful it was on the bed so a squishy landing but still feel guilty. He did manage a good few seconds before ending up on his side though, and seemed to think it was a game!

Lis loving the hair! And yes we have lots of ear wax here too (enough to grow potatoes as my Dad says Hmm ) it tends to gather in the groves of S's ear lobe after a bath so I then get it with the corner of a muslin when he's having his bedtime feed.

Star I too have been looking at the amount of child proofing that we need to do >gulp< Though DH thinks he started by reorganising the book shelves with the less important my books going on the bottom shelves!

Cycle S is another who loves being held up standing. It's knackering my arms though! (Think the muscles are out of practice after a year of hardly any pint drinking Grin )

Frakk I am Envy we're going to Whitby in a couple of weeks, not quite as exotic!

Buck hope F sleeps and you enjoy your yummy tea!

(16 weeks - injections tomorrow, oh joy...)

Sassy20 · 26/07/2011 22:10

Lis you'll need the disposable nappy underneath the swim nappy.

Sassy20 · 27/07/2011 07:07

Does anyone know what throat lozenges/pastilles we can take when breast feeding? Dh got me some last night but as was about to take one read the back which said to consult gp if preg or bf!!! Awful nights sleep coughing and sore throat. L slept well though despite me making a racket.

DairyBeetle · 27/07/2011 07:32

Sassy there's a good fact sheet here it's the 'Coughs and Cold Remedies when Breastfeeding' one.

It says "Lozenges or pastilles to soothe coughs and sore throats: Lozenges and pastilles e.g. Strepsils®, Dequadin®, Tyrozets®, Lockets® etc will not produce sufficient absorption of ingredients to pass into breastmilk and can be used by breastfeeding mothers to relieve their symptoms."

We're on the Calpol (S not me!) already this morning thanks to the teething, hopefully we're heading for a bit of rest from it though as I think I can feel tooth!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 27/07/2011 08:08

Lis you need a disposable swim nappy underneath those shorts/trunks things. Huggies are what I've always used for DS1 and now T.

Bleugh feeling more rotten today. T slept 9.30-4.30 and 5-7.45. Pity DS1 was in here at half four!!

Cyclebump · 27/07/2011 08:14

That sounds grim Ali.

H went down ok at 8 but then woke up screaming in a panic at about 9.30. Would it be mad to think it was a nightmare as he's down it before and generally just seems to need a cuddle and soothing words to calm him down.

Oh and I use Tyrozets Sassy, they always seem to help.
