Thanks all Grin And hugs Ali one if my friends has gone into labour so we might have a little someone to share it with!

chillikat · 10/08/2011 14:26

Happy birthday kitty and fizz. Hope you both have great days.

We've had a couple of bad nights, though to some they'd be good nights... it's taken a few attempts to get her to settle in the crib to start with, then she hasn't been going for more than the first 45 minute sleep cycle :( when we eventually ettle her again she then wakes about 1 and has taken an hour to settle after her feed then. DH and I are knackered - we're used to her just being put back in and settling well.

We've got 3rd jabs in 45 minutes. I'm hoping a feed and calpol afterwards will mean a good afternoon nap Hmm

GlaikitFizzog · 10/08/2011 14:35

Hmm, so bad weather here, DH is doing laundry and ironing before we head up the road tomorrow, B has been sleeping since noon, so I'm indulging myself with a box of fudge and MN!!

I've had a delivery of flowers and belium balloons :o and lots of cards! My FB is full of messages. Today is a good day!

Ali ((hugs)), tis a good day to be born!

MrsWajs go for it, I toyed with eejit and blether!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/08/2011 14:36

Just had a thought cycle, teething can cause horrid nappies. Something to do with the extra drool they create and swallow can cause acidic poo - which is also why some lo's get nappy rash when teething too.

Ds2 is off to his granny's this arvo, is it wrong to have a little cheer Blush

Cyclebump · 10/08/2011 15:09

Really ILTMIMI? because he's got a red bum for the first time ever too. Hmmmmmmm

Happy birthdays to fizz and kitty, sorry, must have missed that!

Hugs chilli, must be stressful Sad

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 10/08/2011 15:22

Cycle - I would say the combo of red bum, bad nappies, wailing, fist stuffing points to teeth for sure. Goes some way to explain your lack of sleep as well! We have great success with Ashton Parsons powders, or Dentinox teething gel is good too.

chilli :( fingers crossed on the nap!

chillikat · 10/08/2011 16:14

Napping is in progress :) Most of the calpol went on the muslin and unfortunately we have to go back on Tuesday as the nurse had run out of one of the vaccines. M was a very brave girl - only cried a bit after each jab and was giving me smiles again within 10 minutes :)

I think we have teething here too (possibly the cause of not so great sleeping) rosy cheeks, lots of hand eating and drool. I got some bonjela yesterday but applying it is amusing - she'll lick it before you can get it on her gums, seems to like the taste.

Cyclebump · 10/08/2011 17:00

H loves Bonjela. Weird!

We've got jabs tomorrow morning. I'm dreading it as he has always had bad reactions. It's three tomorrow, eek!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/08/2011 17:18

We've got rosy red cheeks and not a lot of sleeping going here as well today

Sassy20 · 10/08/2011 17:23

Have had the mil here today. I'm sure she just likes to try and cause trouble between dh and I. Apparently she was uncomfortable because of the tension and bickering!!! The only thing we had a discussion about was who was entertaining her!!! The other thing that's pissing me off is my dd being treated like a bloody competition prize by her. My parents are looking after her while we go for a meal tonight but mil irritated by this because she should be looking after her and my parents babysit usually....er maybe that's because they live 40 mins away and drive and she lives 2 1/2 hrs away and doesn't! So annoyed at the moment. Rant over, feel better getting it off my chest-this is like therapy Grin

kittycatcat · 10/08/2011 22:26

Eugh at mil sassy

Has anyone got tips on how to get s into his cot? He freaks everytime I lay him down and cos he now doesn't trust me he's not napping in his basket either. I've started using a sleeping bag. What do we think of controlled crying to sleep? S has to be held and bounced but I can't keep on like that. Be honest. I just need help.

GlaikitFizzog · 10/08/2011 22:34

Kitty (Happy Birthday BTW) what does S nap in through the day? Any chance you could put that in the cot for a few nights get him used to the scenery? A friend did this with the moses basket and her DS is now in is cot every night.

B took to his cot no bother, we used sleeping bags from day 1, even in the moses basket, but only at night. He gets a cellular blanket through the day.

Does S have a musical toy/light show that lulls him to sleep? Every time B hears the tune on his monitor his eye start to droop. If he's freaking out when you lie him flat have you tried propping up the mattress a little. Roll up a towle under the head end of the matress.

Not sure if any of that will help, it's just little bits I've gleaned from trawling through the sleep threads!

kittycatcat · 11/08/2011 02:59

Thanks fizz. he was too warm in his sleeping bag last night and woke an hour after he went down. Had to be resettled.
Will try the Moses basket in his cot. He only goes to sleep in our arms which is a pain. Wish he would sleep to music.

Starshaped · 11/08/2011 06:38

We still have to rock P to sleep kitty. It's pretty seldom that she'll self settle or fall asleep without any help. Have you tried giving her a bit hug as you put her down? I've found it helps if Iean over the cot as I put her down and sort of hug/hold/put my face against her face. I think it helps her feel like I'm not deserting her!

Mind you, I wouldn't take advice on sleep from me. It's getting worse here not better. The days of one wake up between 12-6.30ish are few and far between now. Up twice last night and she decided to start her day at 5. Nothing would persuade her to go back to sleep Sad. God, what i'd do for a five hour stretch of unbroken sleep at the moment...

kittycatcat · 11/08/2011 06:49

Thanks star. I do. If he starts panicking I hold him close as I'm lowering him
then try again. he woke at 3 for his next feed so he'd gone 5 hours between feeds but had to be resettled after half hour for the first one, then I put him down after the next one and after 5 mins he was moaning again so I fed him again and this took another half hour! He did go down til now tho from 4. hugs star

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 11/08/2011 07:09

Kitty people often suggest a t-shirt that you've been wearing so that there is a familiar smell?

Cyclebump · 11/08/2011 07:26

H has to fed to sleep or rocked and just will not self settle. We had wailing, drool and fist chewing last night so broke out the Calpol. Still went 9-2.30 3.30-5.30 ten 6-7. Could have been worse though I suppose.

We've abandoned the sleeping bags in this changeable weather and are going for layers that can be added to or removed.

kittycatcat · 11/08/2011 14:41

My friend had her baby by c sec at 430 this am. Baby Thomas weighed 8 1b 7.5

Cyclebump · 11/08/2011 17:09

Hurray! Lovely, another baby!

BuckminsterFullerene · 11/08/2011 17:11

Congratulations to your friend, Kitty!

We're back from the ag show, it was a load of bullocks! And horses and sheep and rabbits and hares and tractors and a lot of solar panel companies. And the WI, of course. Much fun.

Saw the doc this morning, and we now have baby gaviscon to try. It's not as strongly flavoured as some of the colic drops, and was surprisingly easy to give to him. We've got a follow up appt in 2 weeks to see how he's getting on.

Why is it doctors ask vague questions like "how is his feeding?" "er, well, I get my boob out and he sucks, what do you mean?", or "how are his nappies?" "very nice, thanks, although the microfibre, whilst quick drying, doesn't contain as much... oh, is that not what you wanted to know?". Ridiculous.

And, cycle, we've just had the baby-eating cat situation. Well, not eating, but she did express her displeasure at having her fur grabbed by 'boxing' F's head. He's now got 4 punctures on each side. (antiseptic-wiped already) The cat is being ignored. It was a bit frightening.

Cyclebump · 11/08/2011 17:17

If it's a comfort Buck, you'd never know H was ever scratched as the cuts have completely healed.

H has been on off screaming all day after jabs this morning. Nightmare! He's been in the sling a lot. We went to the animal park down the road and he fell asleep. It was lovely, I sat watching the pigs while he snoozed.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/08/2011 20:19

I should really be researching a new car seat for ds2, but I've lost the will to live looking at various websites, so I have escaped onto here instead!

Teething has finally caught up with me. Ds1 & 2 didn't really have teething woes, and tbh I wondered why people went on about it so much Blush And now I know why. An Amber anklet, Ashton & parsons powders and nelsons teethers have all been ordered. Poor old ds3.

Where is JKS?

I's latch is also shocking at the mo, I think that's the teething as well. Mac brushed my nipples when we were having a cuddle and I nearly hit the ceiling.

JustKeepSwimming · 11/08/2011 21:28

Hi I'm here :)

At my parents in Devon for a week so not on here much.

After some nights of sleeping through the night Shock DD has had the worst nights ever that last couple of nights. Up to 4 feeds a night, urgh. Just 2 last night so i'm hoping we're over whatever it was. Pretty sure it was a growth spurt as she fed most of the daytimes too.
Though some teeth trying to come through too.

On tea & chocolate to get through the days :)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/08/2011 21:39

Hi JKS

I have just spotted the April 2012 thread!

BuckminsterFullerene · 11/08/2011 21:39

Hi JKS!

Sorry to hear about the sleep, though.

Can I ask where in Devon?
