Liking maternity leave too much? Can't be arsed to go back to your old job? Why not get made redundant, set up a company, have another baybee or even fall off a horse? Anything to spend more time with our little darlings! And it's so naice here - pass the gin!

Oh Cassie sorry to hear Sad news.

ponio I can see their faces now! One person would be veh veh narked yet full of joy simultaneously. I'm not sure anything less than 18mo gap is the best idea. Tho HI just said "but if we do the hoss will be living out!" GrinGrinGrin

I too am a young un. In fact my big day is just round t'corner! I do think that it may be why I struggled in maths or is that cos I iz fick really? Confused

SilverSky · 10/07/2011 18:15

Anyone know how scorpette is doing?

AlpinePony · 10/07/2011 18:20

curly I'm so sorry. :(

I was just talking to a friend (at stables) here who is "chief honcho of all health visitors around here" and I mentioned that Bear is being a horror at night - she reckoned that was pretty normal for 12 months and that "this too shall pass".

Can I just say on that note that Bear was awake from 1-3 am and I got out of bed with him at 6:30 I think it was. So JB had at least 5 hours more sleep than me. Your starter for 10, guess who's tired? Hmm

Btw curly, because I'm shit & forgetful I just wanted to say thank you so much for the pressies for Bear's birthday. The cars are a go and can be thrown with accuracy and the chalk is apparently, yummy! Grin

Medee · 10/07/2011 18:47

very sorry, Casp.

okiecokie · 11/07/2011 01:26

Whenever I try and have an early night I end up not being able to sleep and peppa wakes up! It is depressing when you lie in bed and hear the milkman drop off the milk.

silv as we are all old hags work have to accept returning to work diffed. It is just the way it is when you no longer have time on your side.

CurlyCasper · 11/07/2011 08:33

Cheers ESHs.

alps the cars were a hit here too, but I have not yet attempted the chalk and board. Just thought it was a less wasteful way of trying to start scribbling. Paper seems to ends up chewed and holy. Sorry he scoffed the chalk!

14-hour work day today

AlpinePony · 11/07/2011 09:09

curly Tell me about it, I started at 5:15 and fuck knows what time I'll be finished, although I need to be home by 7 as JB has to drive to Cologne to pick up his mum. It will be a blessed relief to have her here as she's a marvellous babysitter. I might even get a lie-in.

I removed the chalk from his soggy grasp and placed them and the board out of reach until he's a bit older and can get it. The cars are bloody brilliant though as I'd got him a Fisher Price multi-story car-park thing for his birthday so now we have 3 extra cars to whizz down the helter-skelter thing. Grin

okie I generally find when I'm at my most tired then Bear has a terrible night. :(

AIBU to have wanted to let him "play on the stairs" this morning when he screamed through an important conference call? :(

Lighttaperstandback · 11/07/2011 09:36

Bit late but so so sorry to hear that Casp.

Nope, in no condition to pre-book time of year for births round these parts either. MC no. 1 was due on April 1 if I recall. I was looking forward to having a spring baby...by the time I got round to producing Squib I was happy to take what date I got. We've ended up with all 3 of us being born within 5 days of each other.

Going to give the MacPac a trial run going toa friend's house today. Thought I'd better see if he will nap in it ok before trying it on our holidays this Saturday!!!

SilverSky · 11/07/2011 11:00

Holidays holidays holidays light???? EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy

Would just like to add that visiting my 'rents does not count as a true holiday.

So today I Haz no child. HI has him as my pal is taking me put for the day.

HI is going out with his sister and I've told him no handing the baybee over for the day!!!! I should just be glad that he's taking him out but I'm a ridiculous control freak and am narked that he's not at home suffering experiencing my normal daily life. Grin

SilverSky · 11/07/2011 11:01

*put = out

Backinthebox · 11/07/2011 11:37

Well, ESHes, I have had a luvverly weekend away, even with a broken leg. LG and his little cousin were very cute playing together. The cousin is 10 months older than LG and has previously been the youngest cousin. He has spent his whole life trying to keep up with his older brother (3yo) and TT, and getting very frustrated by the whole affair with has been expressed as toddler-axe-murderer behaviour. So to see him gently playing with LG was nice. TT and the older brother had a fab time too, and she also enjoyed going to see the racing cars (we were at Silverstone) with her dad and uncle. The only slightly tricky bit of the whole weekend was trying to get me into and out of the caravan loo, which is only 18" wide. The caravan loos are normally only allowed for kids and middle of the night, no pooing allowed. But it was decided it might be a bit mean to make me hop on crutches to the other end of the field whenever I needed the loo. We got completely bladdered on Saturday night, and I can tell you trying to stagger into a tiny space on crutches when you can barely even stand up straight is quite a challenge! Made my leg feel a whole lot better though.

I would not be bothered about the whole 'youngest child in the year' thing either. I was the youngest in my year and clearly it didn't do me too much harm. I met OH at college, and he was the first person I had met who was even younger in the year than me, and let me tell you he doesn't do too badly on it either! TT will be going to 'big girl school' after Christmas and the village school have tried to play me a guilt trip about her getting a bit of a slower start to academic life than the other kids, and I spelt it out to them in not uncertain terms that they were not going to win on the 'she'll struggle as she's young' argument with this household!

My mum had TT last night and OH took LG to her's at 7am - lie in for me! So trust me to get a sodding delivery of building materials at 7.30am. Typical.

glad you had a lovely time, box!

Muser · 11/07/2011 17:20

I was one of the youngest in my year and it never did me any harm. I know all my letterz and everyfink. It is my birfday this week innit.

Casp sorry to hear things are so tough just now, have some unESHly hugs.

Lighttaperstandback · 11/07/2011 17:29

Silver it's the first one since Squib was born...8 months ago!!! And no, I do not count Easter bank holiday visiting the Belgian in-laws as a holiday. This time we are staying with some friends who have a house near a lake in Sweden. They have 2 youngish kids, so we don't need to take any baby stuff, which is marvellous. MacPac seems to work fine - Squib slept in it on the tube, so hopefully will do at the airport...

Glad camping was good Box. Although I'm not sure some would consider the use of a caravan to be camping in the purest sense of the word Hmm. I think a broken foot excuses a little laxity. Grin

I ended up being the youngest in the year when I was 10 - skipped a year at school and went straight to senior school when I was changing schools. Didn't do me any harm... But then was talking to a friend who is expecting a baby in 3 weeks, and it does seem insane that her bump and my 8 month old rolling, babbling son would be in the same intake in 4 years time...

Belated sympathies on the bad times cappy

yikes trotski I was thinking a tenner was a bit steep, hmm, food for thought. I agree re that Swedish stuff, I just bought a few bits in the sale on love itx3 but would never justify full price. And I am a bit miffed at green baby. I put Sprout in one of their vests today and couldn't work out why the vest extender wouldn't work. Turns out they use a none standard size snap at the crotch making them impossible to wear with a washable nappy. Not very impressive from a 'green' company especially as they sell washables on the website. (well not impossible, she still wore it and I just didn't do it up but that's not the point) she still looked uber cute but it's all form over function.

box holiday sound lovely especially the drunken part. And the sweet playtime. I had one glass of champagne last night and felt tipsy. It's pathetic. Going to have to work on getting my tolerance back up but suppose i can't really get too hammered while BFing anyway.

My mum arrives tomorrow for 3 days. Hoping to take TB out for dinner on one of the nights and Shock leave sprout for the evening. I bet we are home by nine.

Muser · 11/07/2011 21:09

That is annoying about the Green Baby top rocket. I've not had any trouble using their tops with my reusables, but I do have a baby with a skinny bum so I am mostly grateful that reusables provide so much bulk as it keeps her trousers on! I would moan at them.

rocketleaf · 11/07/2011 21:47

I think I am going to email them about it muse it's not the width that's thd problem it's the length!! Spose I should have got them on her before she grew so long but at that point they were too baggy. It just seems silly as they don't make vest extenders themselves to not use the standard size snap.

FannyPriceless · 11/07/2011 21:58

Who is the naughtiest ESH? Apparently we can quantify our badness on this quiz! Have a go and report back.Grin

casp I hope things are getting better.

MadameBoo · 11/07/2011 22:17

£475.10

FannyPriceless · 11/07/2011 22:45

Respeck to you boo! I only got £345.60. I was shamefully naughty in my past but seem to have only got a middling score.

MadameBoo · 11/07/2011 22:53

I think the total is above £1000 so we're both pretty tame Fanny, compared to some of those depraved wimminz on that fred Wink

Backinthebox · 11/07/2011 23:22

I am squeaky clean. Apparently you can only have a bad past if you include sex-not-with-your-partner and drugs? I married young, have never taken drugs and have an altogether different set of quality snippets of naughtiness. Grin I'm not letting on what, exactly, but there is a lot of fun to be had out there. And, err, things which don't always end up the way you expect them to. I've crashed an aeroplane (only a little bit,) been in a pub fight, been propositioned by a duke and a famous heart-throb (although he was minging in real life,) and managed several ambulance rides, some with sirens and lights, thanks to misadventure. And been found to be going commando in a rather unusual place. And that's really all I'm going to say Blush. But I wouldn't like to class myself as boring just because my fines were really rather low.

Ahahaha - just had a flashback, too, about removing one of my work colleagues from up a pole and taking her somewhere safer for herself. We weren't in a fire station either. Grin
