Liking maternity leave too much? Can't be arsed to go back to your old job? Why not get made redundant, set up a company, have another baybee or even fall off a horse? Anything to spend more time with our little darlings! And it's so naice here - pass the gin!

Poo. In. POTTY. That is all.Grin

FannyPriceless · 09/08/2011 13:41

Well done lighter! And when you're a really big girl maybe you can do one in the big girl toilet.

I fell really sad about the future of our 'society'. I think what's needed is a whole lot of really inspirational teachers. Sidney Poitier, Michelle Pfeiffer, et al. But who would want to do that these days?Confused

Muser · 09/08/2011 15:04

Forgot to say Happy Birthday Cos!

AlpinePony · 09/08/2011 15:20

Cat-flappers? Gather around please. Had another scan this afternoon to be told I've got an anterior placenta :( - does anyone know how this might affect c-section/VBAC/elcs type stuff? I don't want to be pushed in to a VBAC if there's a risk that #3 might not happen.

FannyPriceless · 09/08/2011 15:32

alps Sorry, I haven't a clue. I never paid any attention to the placenta stuff as I was destined for the sun roof anyway.

Is anterior related to placenta previa? I had a friend with that and if it stays that way it is compulsory sun roof.

rocketleaf · 09/08/2011 15:35

Happy birthday cossifantutti have wonderful day containing lots of

It kicked off up here last night, my freinds car got torched Shock luckily we live in the posh middle class other end of the city. It doesn't worry me that Sprout would ever turn out like that but it does worry me she will have people like that as her peers and she might well be in a minority. I agree that society is getting more and more divided but how can you expect these lads to be law abiding when they see politicians, the police, the media and big business breaking the law and (largely) getting away with it? Under 25 and male is the most unemployable demographic and I dont expect it gets much better if you are from a further minority. I am absolutely not condoning violence, it makes me sick but these riots are a symptom of a diseased society IMO. I have no solution really except for a move away from materialism and wealth as a measure of worth. These lads need strong role modals that they are not getting from family or any figures in power, it's all rappers and footballers. (great!) And what was one of the first things cut by this government? Youth centres and out reach where young people could meet decent role modals and mentors and be provided with alternative ways of thinking. BRILLIANT move Angry and here ends my rant Blush

Cosmosis · 09/08/2011 15:37

I think placenta previa is when it covers the cervix, anterior is if it's at the front?

AlpinePony · 09/08/2011 15:40

Tbh rocket , I can't imagine that the yoofs we are seeing on our television screens spent an awful lot of time at the youth centres. From my experience, they are were predominantly for the middle-class white people with crap parents. Much like surestart baby groups.

But, JB is of course that "target yoof" you talk of. His escape tbh came when he met me, but there he was - a 22 year old with no future, no chance, no nothing. Despite what Ms Harmen might try to tell you, being a single male is the lowest of the low.

fanny Not necessarilky previa from what I can make out and I suppose more will be revealed at the 20-week scan, but I don't want a bunch of fecking hippies a the hospital telling me I could/should VBAC if it's going to rupture the scar and yank the placenta out of its socket and kill my baybee. :(

CurlyCasper · 09/08/2011 15:42

Correct cossie. I had an anterior placenta with Squeaks and it was never an issue, so don't fret alps.

Sorry to hear of violence up your way sprocket. There are rumours of it kicking off in redneck town around here - but thankfully we moved away from there last year. There are even Twitter rumours - which have been quashed - that cars are being set alight at the venue of the ESHmeet tomorrow. Hmm

rocketleaf · 09/08/2011 15:47

That's why I talk about out reach pone the youth workers I know don't sit around in youth centres waiting for the yoof to come to them. They go out and work directly with the 'hoodies' and they can and do make progress with some if them. Or rather they did, when they still had jobs. not saying it would have stopped the riots but it might mean that there was less of a critical mass. Who knows.

rocketleaf · 09/08/2011 15:49

I'll bring some marshmallows then curly

Lighttaperstandback · 09/08/2011 16:56

Hear hear Rocket. Couldn't have put it better meself.

Just went out to post a letter (your book is on it's way Silva), and all the shops are already closing and pulling down the shutters as a precautionary measure. Sad that the whole of London seems to be being held to ransom, but perhaps in a way it makes us nice middle class types get our heads out of the sand about the divisive world we live in. Think there was trouble in Notting Hill last night, so nowehere's safe. Like much of London, our street is "nice", but there's an estate only 2 streets away... It's nice to hear the stories of communities getting out on the streets afterwards to clear up. You never know, perhaps something good might come of it in the long run. Delusional optimist me...

Cosmosis · 09/08/2011 17:14

I haz texted iggy and she is very busy with looting things at the mo, so send her your requests Wink

Muser · 09/08/2011 17:18

I completely agree rocket. The violence and destruction is disgusting and there's no condoning in it. But these kids weren't born like this, born into another situation they could be doing fine. I just don't know if we've left it too late to try and fix, but society has to start fixing itself if we're going to have any hope of stopping.

It is really making me question if I want to bring my child up in London where these chasms between the rich and poor exist. Ok so hopefully I can keep my kids out of trouble, but it's just the environment it creates. I was speaking to a woman today who was trying to explain what it all meant to her 6 year old. How do you do that? Makes me want to go live in a pretty little Yorkshire village or up in the wilds of Scotland. Typical middle class response of course, solve the problem by opting out and making it someone else's problem.

Cosmosis · 09/08/2011 17:21

But then you get completely different problems in pretty Yorkshire villages and the wilds of Scotland ? still massive unemployment for youngsters and they are priced out of local housing so all move into the cities. TGO is from the lakes and we would love to live there, but unless you want to work in tourism or retail there are no other jobs, and house prices are just shocking. There is a lot of drug abuse in small Yorkshire towns as there?s bugger all else for the yoof to do.

Muser · 09/08/2011 17:28

Funny you should say that Cos, when we were discussing it last night TBG said if we moved to Yorkshire we'd just have to worry about glue sniffing and other drug use instead. And with smaller peer groups the pressure to arse around might actually be higher.

Moral of the story is: you can't win, so you just have to try and bring your kids up to know better. So that's easy then.

SilverSky · 09/08/2011 17:31

Happy Birthday costarica! May it be happy and joyous. Grin

Our towns on red alert!!! Sad

SilverSky · 09/08/2011 17:35

Fanx lighterfluid!!

MadameBoo · 09/08/2011 18:36

The youth centres I worked in were full of the poor and dispossessed kids Pone. I have to disagree with you very strongly there - if I'd been working with nice middle clss kids then my job may have been a lot easier!

The service I work in now is like a cross between youth work and social work and focuses on prevention. I stand by what I do an am proud of it - it works. I was extremely lucky not to lose my job in March - and doubt it will still exist beyond March 12.

Backinthebox · 09/08/2011 18:49

Alps I had an anterior placenta with LG, and I asked about it at my 12 week scan and they said 'don't worry, it could move about a bit yet.' At my 20 week scan they said it was still anterior, but was well above the CS scar so not a factor for anything, VBAC or ELCS. I wouldn't fret about it yet. Your uterus has a lot of stretching to do before you pop and placentas usually move upwards with the stretching.

okiecokie · 09/08/2011 22:00

It is amazing what the kids will do for a few pairs of chavvy trainers innit? Cunts. Fucking sirens and helicopters woke me up last night. Well it at least meant my husband came home early from work tonight and helped out with bathtime.

Alps placenta will move around a bit between now and lay time so don't fret just yet.

Light I is impressed with the poo in potty.

AlpinePony · 10/08/2011 08:19

boxer Thank you for that! It's put my mind at ease greatly. I figured it would do some more moving and more will be revealed at 20 week scan anyway. I was hoping one of you had been in a similar situation, just seems to be "different" than with those with a "virgin" uterus.

AlpinePony · 10/08/2011 08:20

PS well done lights - well, well done squib because I'm assuming the poo was his and not yours! I wonder if I should experiment this end - he's ever so regular.

SilverSky · 10/08/2011 09:07

Same here! During most of his meals though can't see eating on a potty being particularly hygienic!!!

AlpinePony · 10/08/2011 09:19

silv He's a man. Time will come he's sat on his throne with a book, a phone and a takeaway. :(
