Liking maternity leave too much? Can't be arsed to go back to your old job? Why not get made redundant, set up a company, have another baybee or even fall off a horse? Anything to spend more time with our little darlings! And it's so naice here - pass the gin!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FannyPriceless · 28/07/2011 09:17

I am currently sitting with ice packs on my foot as I managed to fall down the stairs this morning while carrying Clyde!Shock

I was relieved to find that my instinct was to keep him safe. But as a result I have ended up with an impressive bruise and graze on my arm and a possibly broken toe. I'm hoping it's just strained or bruised but I can't seem to put any weight on it.Confused

Crap. Clyde has vaccinations late morning and then I am due at work for 6 hours. Painkillers, methinks!

okiecokie · 28/07/2011 09:26

That was a bit careless FP

Microwave sausages have to be worse than microwave chips. I used to eat microwave sausages when I was a grim student.

rollerbaby · 28/07/2011 09:34

Ow FP. That scares the living daylights out of me that does. I'm not sure they can fix broken bones in feet someone once told me. Just to cheer you up Wink

Okie how about fray bentos? Yuk.

Lots of wombular poking and mild pulling going on. Dont really remember what it was like before but I do remember the bloody loo visits in the night. Annoying!!!! I didn't worry before but now I worry I will wake the baby up.

Am trying to cut down 1030 feed too. Last night he had between 4-5 oz so tonight will do 4 and cut by an oz each night. Hopefully by next week we will be 7-7. That's the theory.

AlpinePony · 28/07/2011 09:47

Oh fanny. :( I am terrified of falling down the stairs especially due to having a frighteningly narrow, spiral, steep Dutch staircase. :( I'm hoping that by the time I'm in very late pregnancy I will go down on my bum with Bear following me down on his.

moo I had a lot of poking at the beginning, no extra loo visits though. And to warm muser's heart - I am having an easy diffment! Grin If the first trimester is the "hardest" then it's going to be plain sailing this time and I'll want to have SIX children! Wink

Went to visit the new stables last night and they're lovely Stables for those who give a shite - and I miscalculated the route and it's only 6 miles. Owner is quite the "piece" too. Blush He likes me due to the fact my horse has the same name and breed as his first - although to get in to this stables I'd have lied and called the hoss Hitler if needed! Wink

AlpinePony · 28/07/2011 09:47

AND THEY'VE GOT PEACOCKS!

rocketleaf · 28/07/2011 09:57

Ouch FP not good. I think it's that the treatment for a sprain and a break is the same so they often don't even bother xraying to find out. (veteran of buggered ankles/feet) You are doing the right thing though, ice/elevation as soon as pos is the best treatment. I hope its just a minor injury. Think you might be phoning in sick though!

Ace news pony sounds very promising.

So if you guys are trying to drop the 10ish feed is it not worth instilling one? At the moment we are going through from 8.30ish til 5, then back to bed until 8ish. I suppose this could all change dramatically once the teef start.

Lighttaperstandback · 28/07/2011 10:22

Ouch FP. That sounds painful! Praps you could try seeing if your special ointment helps the ouchy foot??? I live in constant fear of going arse over tit on the stairs...tripped once going up and landed on my elbow rather than on Squib, but one of these days...

Blimey Alps. That place looks sehr gud (yup, no idea how to write - or speak - German). Can I go and live there too???

Curly, my understanding is you don't have to commit to the EC thing full time. I'm basically planning on going for it whenever I'm at home and it's convenient - so that gradually Squib will develop a preference for at least pooing in the potty/loo - he already hates having to sit on poo in his nappy for more than a nanosecond, so I figure I should start now before he can poo standing up. Once/if he gets his head round the baby signing lark, or finds some other way of communicating what he wants, I guess then we can move up to him being able to tell me he wants to go when we're out and about Confused. Think you can also just hold them over a loo, rather than taking potty with you and plonking 'em on it in the middle of a restaurant or whatever, which may not be everyone's cuppa. I'm not going to get too stressed about it, just reckon one successful effort in a potty/loo is one less nappy to change/buy.

Rocket/Muser am so impressed you have made washables work. We tried 2 types they both seemed to just dig into Squib's leg/leak all over the place as soon as I put them on. We've ended up using Nature Babycares during the day, to at least minimise petrochemical useage, and Pampers Babydry at night, as my son seems to pee like a horse...

Honeymoo we decided to go cold turkey and replaced the 7pm feed (which was a bf, or occasionally a bottle if I was out) with the Goodnight milk. Seems to have done the trick. When squib woke up in the morning, it seemed to be that he had had enough sleep, rather than because he was hungry. I think at their age they are usually capable of doing the 12 hours. Squib did 11 and a half last night. Just another half hour and I'll be happy especially as I went to the pub and didn't get to bed 'till 11 last night!

AlpinePony · 28/07/2011 10:32

lightspaper When I win the lottery I too will be buying a farm pretty much like that. The farmhouse is sehr fantasisch! He's got a Porsche Cayenne too. And did I mention he's a piece? I think you're insanely brave to try EC - although tbh it might actually work in our household as Bear is incredibly regular. E.g., if I leave the house early enough creche deal with it rather than me! Wink

I liked the washables to a degree, but found it a bind to get nice clothes after them and I'm a raging snob when it comes to "tracksuit bottoms" and the like. Blush But I could never get JB on board 100%. I will try with the new baby, they just didn't fit Bear for months due to his skinniness.

rocketleaf · 28/07/2011 10:37

Yes the clothes are a bit of a PITA, but I think it's easier with girls as you can do dress/skirt plus tights/leggings and just buy the next size up. Looks like Sprout is going to be fairly long so hoping she won't look too ridiculous with dangly feet.

Lighttaperstandback · 28/07/2011 10:43

Yeah, the clothes thing over washables had me confused to. I guess for boys it has to be dungarees all the way? Squib was pretty skinny as well...

Lighttaperstandback · 28/07/2011 10:43

confused too. Ugh.

Muser · 28/07/2011 13:27

I've found having a long skinny baby a bit of a boon for reusables as she needed 3-6 month for length but they wouldn't fit round her bum without the cloth nappy. Now she's put on some chub and is getting on for 6 months they are getting a bit tight. But I favour stretchy trousers as well as I have this thing about her clothes being soft. So she has a lot of leggings which stretch. It probably is easier her being a girl.

okiecokie · 28/07/2011 13:43

Peppa looks ridiculous in leggings as her legs resemble that of a rugby player (think Prop), a ballerina she is not. Also, why are leggings all in manky girly colours?

Muser · 28/07/2011 13:53

My leggings aren't! But I am still in PFB spendy phase so I am on the Molo.

rocketleaf · 28/07/2011 14:00

I am exactly the same muse I have a few woven bottoms and dungarees given me but I don't like to put her in them as they just don't look comfy. So it's leggings and jersey trousers all the way.

rollerbaby · 28/07/2011 15:35

We have a big boy car seat!! Okie I took your advice and got the axiss. I figured trying to lift him into the tractor whilst 8 months pregnant would be no joke! Very exciting. He is well above weight threshold so I'm not concerned about a possible risk. Now all set for the big road trip on the weekend! Smile

okiecokie · 28/07/2011 21:28

Good work moo. Now, all you need is a head rest dvd player.

Backinthebox · 28/07/2011 21:41

FP ouch. Join me in Cripple's Corner.' I don't have to drive to the pub atm - everyone drives me there. And back. Grin

I had another silver lining to my broken legged cloud as well this week - my pay slip. Seems I was considered full time when I had my little slip. Hurray!

Alps I was going to tell you not to be so silly about the stairs and then I had a sudden flashback to a weekend in Amsterdam where I needed climbing equipment to get up the stairs to our room. The new stables are clearly in Germany, not NL - do the rolling hills start the very second you step over the border?

We have more teef here. 5 and a half now. And a lot of dribble.

OP posts:
rollerbaby · 28/07/2011 22:39

So fucking much for cutting down 1030 feed! He just screamed blue murder at the injustice of being presented with 4 lousy oz. Had to make up second bottle! Won't be doing that again in a hurry. Adminstered calpol as he was going bananas. In bed now and need some kip. Please to not wake up in 3 hours thinking about work or needing to wee?

SilverSky · 28/07/2011 23:07
FannyPriceless · 29/07/2011 08:47

Alps Those stables look amaze! I also think that you are so enraptured with the facilities, the peacocks, the Cayenne, etc that you are very likely to dump poor jb and run off with Herr Player.Wink

box Well my injury is nothing like yours! All I have is an entirely black and blue big toe which can't be bent without a yelp. I managed work yesterday by strapping up my toe to the next one and wearing delighful big velcro sandals.

Clever girl with the full time pay!

clucks Where are the photos / link for this wonder pony? I need my fix of pony porn. Quite desperate for some vicarious pony buying action.

muse I am the same about soft clothes. It also cuts down on the ironing!

Joules fans - A woman came into the shop yesterday in a fab Mary King Joules top. I complimented her on it and she actually said 'This old thing?'.Grin

Backinthebox · 29/07/2011 08:51

FP you will have to break your FB duck for wonderpony pics.

Today we are going to the soft play area. With a broken leg Hmm. And a nanny Grin. Get me! I'm just going to sit there and drink crap tea. Have you noticed how they sell beer in these places? Surely that's the wrong idea to be giving out?

OP posts:
FannyPriceless · 29/07/2011 09:00

box Get you! And yes, there's a place we used to go to near Ebor that had a wine list!Shock Won't somebody think of the children!

AlpinePony · 29/07/2011 09:05

moo I hadn't even thought about trying to get him in to the car seat when I'm heavily pregnant. :( It's hard enough right now as we've only got a 3-door, but he's big enough that I can toss him in the general direction of the car-seat and strap him down. Can't toss a newborn in! Wink But we're car shopping soon so hopefully that will help. I was dreading carrying him up the stairs in creche (proper stairs though) because baby room is upstairs and it's hard work with stair gates, wriggling him and changing bag - but he's not going to be there for much longer - he'll be downstairs with the big kids.

Well done box - knocks my pre-loaded visa card received today for no particular reason in to a cocked hat! Wink We actually have hills down here fo reals - small undulating ones and despite Dutch outdoor shops, they do not necessitate survival equipment to conquer. My dad climbed Pen-y-fan last month - probably only took a cheese sarnie and a book. The Dutch would've had a heli on call and taken crampons.

silv It is so hard isn't it!? Nearly everyone at my yard has found somewhere new, but I seem to be the only person who's actually getting "better" (albeit for more cash) - but this is because I live further away so am looking at different places. Even my current YO told me it's a good move.

Got my scan this afternoon and it occurred to me last night that I will have a baybee in 6 months.

CurlyCasper · 29/07/2011 09:26

good luck with the scan alps!

Lighty I caught a poo in the loo today. Clearly she learned nought from it, but I was pleased.
