Liking maternity leave too much? Can't be arsed to go back to your old job? Why not get made redundant, set up a company, have another baybee or even fall off a horse? Anything to spend more time with our little darlings! And it's so naice here - pass the gin!

Thanks curlsworld.

Talking of "catching/finding" poo - this is the next chapter in boxer's "poo under the pillow" story. I was hoovering the dining room last saturday when a little poo pebble rolled out and got sucked in, then of course blew out warm poo air. Confused Why do poos only get lost when the men are in charge?

rollerbaby · 29/07/2011 10:18

Good luck with scan Alps. Mine is 4pm so will check in later so see how you went.

Box I went to meet a work-related friend yesterday for a cup of tea. She had her little one and mine was with the nanny. I felt like such a fraud and took the dog so at least I was looking after something!

rocketleaf · 29/07/2011 10:31

Get you box i'd indulge and get the nanny to drive if i were you, have to spend that pay check on something no?

shiners I am not sure I would say I have made reusables work yet. The ones I have should be good til she's around nine months. At that point I will reassess as I suspect getting washing sorted every day is going to be more challenging at that point. Plus it's going to be more of a struggle over the winter.

Good luck for the scan pone

We seem to have cracked feeding lying down here. It seems my bizarre shaped boobs are actually good for something as it's actually easier to feed her from the opposite one, negating the need for swapping sides. The draw back of that is that I've missed baby massage again as we were just too comfy in bed. It's a good job it's just a drop in one. What fool expects anyone to get out of the house before mid day anyway?

I now have to pack for our first weekend away. Having to stop myself from packing the kitchen sink. Any tips?

SilverSky · 29/07/2011 10:41

box I heard a woman yesterday mention Nanny Plum! Did a quick 360 in case it was you!

Hope ponio and honey's scans go well today. Exciting!! h I think your diffment is down to your Fb profile pic! Grin Seems fb is now predicting the future so it does!

roc as long as car can get above 50mph then you've still room for more stuff!!!

Now the child can sit up in cot, he is happy to be left playing in it. Now there is no excuse for living in a shithole domestically challenged home is there?

rollerbaby · 29/07/2011 11:07

silver loads of people have seen that and think child 2 is mine!! No sirreee said I without irony, and now look!

rocket I cannot help you on the packing front. I am currently packing for 3 days and so far have 78 carrier bags full o'shite on the kitchen floor. It doesn't matter how long or how far you still need the same stuff. It must get easier.

I am also useless at taking my baybee to classes. Poor child will be lucky if he makes it to school at this rate.

rollerbaby · 29/07/2011 11:08

oh and well done on the lying down feeding. Just don't fall asleep and let baybee chew nips like I used to!!! Sorrre.

PollyPoo · 29/07/2011 11:09

fanny I laughed so hard at Bonnie's 'ointment' I nearly pissed myself. Not that that is difficult - must do more pelvic floor exercises. Blush Sorry about the black toe though, ouch.

I am very Envy of the talk of nannies. I want one. Actually, at the moment, what I really want is a fecking divorce. We decided to cut our holiday short as we are all exhausted and crabby due to ill and teething children and lack of sleep. TG has been a miserable fucker for the entire week and I am ready to explode. He had a lie in this morning and then dragged himself out of bed at around 10 and got showered and dressed. It seems he thought that Boo's hospital appointment was at 11:00. It is actually at 2.30 and I did tell him that yesterday. If he bloody listened to me he might find it works to his advantage. Tosser! He has not stopped moaning since, especially as I told him he could have a lie in today if I could have one tomorrow - so now he has ruined his only chance of a decent lie in and will be going back to work on Monday feeling exhausted and like he needs a holiday blah blah blah. ARGHHHHHH.

Anyway, speaking of exhausted, it seems BB prefers to have her daytime naps with the accompaniment of helicopters, tractors, refuse lorries etc. On holiday she was having 2 hr naps with all that noise going on and now we are back at home with peace and quiet she is back to waking after 40 mins. Grrrr.

Excuse me, I feel much calmer now.

rocketleaf · 29/07/2011 12:11

Oh poo that's such a shame. I imagine hols can be much more stressful with children as by the time you have got em used to being there, its time to come home!

Glad its not just me Moo But its not like we are stuck in the house all the time so I don't feel too bad. I am rubbish though but given the choice of a class and some extra sleep its a no brainer really.

I am wondering if its over the top to take the baby bath. I could just do her in the big bath at my mums but it means more leaning over and i reckon the bath would make a good receptacle for all the other crap I am taking. TBH i think we would be packing fairly light if it weren't for the washables and we need to save room to bring back the cot we are picking it up from boos MIL on the way home. :S And I am dithering whether to take the pushchair base or just rely on the sling

Shhh, silvs no one knows that but you, small child has been VERY demanding ALL day. nudge, nudge WinkWink

FannyPriceless · 29/07/2011 12:15

poo Sorry about the curtailed holiday.

And don't worry, you're not alone. We figured out that we can't actually afford a nanny after all. My poor neglected kids will instead be sent to the work-subsidised nursery.

(If I ever agree this fecking contract, that is. So far the start date originally discussed has slipped by about 3 weeks, still counting. Grrr.)

CluckyKate · 29/07/2011 12:26

You bath your baby when you go away Rockers Shock. BC gets a quick wipe around his neck and under his arms with a babywipe if he's lucky :o). I'd leave the baby bath at home [nods]

Utterly crap about cutting the holiday short Pol but can't be much fun with a grumpy husband poorly kids.

Box - that place is pure hell and should be selling intravenous gin shots.

Good luck for the scans girls.

rollerbaby · 29/07/2011 13:06

Rocket - take whatever you think you will make your life easier when you get there. DEFINITELY take pushchair - anything that they can sleep in is a must. Sling requires effort and probably only you know how to put it on which is no good. I used to use laundry baskets - fill them up with all his crap and sling them in the back of the car. Baby bath sounds perfect for that purpose, although I never had one so can't comment. We've got that plastic bath support which is dead handy and he still goes in it now.

Polly - sorry to hear holiday has not been entirely successful. I don't know what it is about men and lie ins. It's like an automatic right. Otherwise the whinging just becomes incessant. Its like getting up with the kids is our job and they are obviously doing us a massive favour when they get up. Mr Moo is pretty good at getting up first and taking little one downstairs but the noise is so fucking loud that frankly I end up getting up anyway to come down and investigate. Must buy ear plugs.

Right - have packed me, mr moo, baby and just need to do toys and dog.

rocketleaf · 29/07/2011 13:34

I have no idea clucky first time away!! I was planning on sticking as closely to bed time routine as possible but it's probably unnecessary.

moo funny that I was eyeing up the laundry basket with just that idea,

Medee · 29/07/2011 17:00

We take the top and tail bowl when going away and just do that instead of a bath.

rocketleaf · 29/07/2011 17:12

I've got a little washing bowl. I'll just use that or take her in the bath with me if she needs one on sat night. And we are only taking the frame for the Bee as we have the car seat and the pop up crib so plenty of things for her to sleep in. I am packing light! She doesn't really need much at this stage so hopefully we'll be reet. Now just got my fingers crossed she sleeps all the way and the traffic isn't too horrendous. I hate going anywhere near the M6 on a friday.

rollerbaby · 29/07/2011 17:35

Littlest moo is A OK! We saw him at half a centimetre and his little heart beating. Magic. GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Alps how was the scan?

AlpinePony · 29/07/2011 17:37

moo just the one, all present and correct good and healthy. Which means I'm having a real baybee and I can justify my Isabella Oliver and crave surge today haha.

AlpinePony · 29/07/2011 17:38

Amazing isn't it? We've done it us loons! Well done mootwo!

Backinthebox · 29/07/2011 17:55

Hope Alps and Moo's scans were all fine and dandy.

Juxtaposing the 'get the nanny to drive' and 'can't afford a nanny' conversations - we can afford this nanny because she is a non-driver. So this morning we had to get OH to drive the whole lot of us to the soft play area. It was as grim as Cluck reckoned it would be. Loud disco music and flashing lights at 10am. OK if it is the end of a long night as a teenager. Not OK if it is the start of a long day after a sleep-interrupted night (again.) On the plus side, the end of the extension is in sight.

Muser · 29/07/2011 18:46

Hooray for good scans! Lovely news.

rocket bath baby in sink. Much easier. I am going to my SIL's for 2 nights soon on the train with just the baby. I am going to have to pack super light as we need to get across London on train. Aaargh.

Mind you, if I were you I'd take disposables with you rather than washables. We do disposables when going away to avoid the washing thing.

rollerbaby · 29/07/2011 19:13

Hurrah! Well done alp-baby! I'm with you there on the maternity wardrobe... I got it v wrong last time. This time I am not buying things that make me look like a tent. Also winter pregnancy miles easier and more stylish I reckon. Me last time in a sweaty black sack dress was not a good look.

box a mid morning disco? Ow. Sounds like the time we went to one of those music classes with clubbing music and props which meant you had to get up and down every 3 sodding seconds. I had to lie down afterwards.

Lighttaperstandback · 29/07/2011 22:27

Excellent news on A-OK scans!!! GrinGrinGrin And...er...sorry Moo if it's all my fault and putting ideas in your head about dropping dream feeds prematurely Blush. The Goodnight milk seems to be doing the trick round here. Have you tried that?

We have MIL (well...out-L...can't be arsed to make it legal) over from Belgium this weekend...we shall mostly be allowing her to do lots of catch-up childcare duty...bring on Saturday night date night!

We still haven't got a potty yet but someone gave us one of those toilet seat thingies so gave that a try today. Squib and I spent a very enjoyable 10 minutes in the bathroom. Him sitting on the throne, playing with some toilet paper wrapper, me sitting on the floor thinking I should probably haved done that after mopping the floor around the toilet. Must have a word with OH about his night time directional skills in the toilet department. Needless to say, no emissions whatsoever. Hmm

SilverSky · 30/07/2011 07:42

I went out last night!! Girly night tho had to drive so no booze for me. Food was lush and good company. Hoisted myself into a normal bra and realise I really need to go and get kitted out properly and get some serious lift-age for my very sorrowful boobs. I fear I may never have a cleavage again. At least not one that doesn't require major scaffolding! As much as I have enjoyed bfing it's wrecked me boobs! Blush

This morning HI has gone into knobber mode. Angry Why do they do this?! The main point is he feels a bit unloved. He claims I don't look after him! The only thing I don't do very often is cook as I'm not confident or even very good at it which I know is silly reasons but when I do cook he patronises me and I want to throw the food at him. Aside from that I do all the other SAHM type of things except ironing . What an ass. I've already got one baby and I don't need another! Then he said that it seems as though he's only good for giving me money! HA! That's laughable! If I was after an ATM I would have married some squillionaire who was on his last legs. I rarely mention being on a tight budget and hardly ever ask if he can spare me a few dollars so he can shove that where the sun don't shine. Can't wait for him to sod off to work today and give me some fecking peace.

AlpinePony · 30/07/2011 07:51

Oh Silv, he can go and sit in the corner with TG. I know you've spoken before about your worries in the kitchen so that's clearly not a new issue. As for ironing, I believe you're supposed to singe a shirt )favourite item) and the object of the game is to be on the receiving end of 'you Silv, will never do my ironing again!'.

Totally sympathise about financial woes, should've married a rich man, but didn't want to spend my life alone/paranoid. ;) we need a new car, ours is unlikely to pass mot in Dec without cash injection more than value - the closer we get to Dec obv the harder to sell, so want to part-Exchange, or at least get a dealer to take it off our hands. Don't have much cash, anyone experience with Hyundai Tucson or Santa-fe?

rocketleaf · 30/07/2011 10:31

Lovely scan news alps and moo you are having real live baybees, again!!

muse yep left the reusables and the bath at home. We used to bath sprout in the sink at home til she got a bit too big and someone gave us the bath so as you say can just do that here. Journey was fine, had to stop to feed her about half am hour from the end which was a shame but we made good time. We didn't get her to sleep til 11 though (I think it was a little ambitious to expect her to self settle in a strange room!) but she slept til 7 and both her and TB are still asleep now! I'd best get them up as freinds arriving imminently.

silvs men are rubbish. FACT. Glad you had a girlie night out though.

Muser · 30/07/2011 10:58

Poor Silvs, I know it must be a bit weird for men when a baby comes along and changes the dynamic. But man up and deal with it already! Glad you had a night out.

I am going out sans baybee today! Lunch with friends on the other side of town so I can't rush back if there is problem. I am very excited.
