Liking maternity leave too much? Can't be arsed to go back to your old job? Why not get made redundant, set up a company, have another baybee or even fall off a horse? Anything to spend more time with our little darlings! And it's so naice here - pass the gin!

rocks we've only ever used disposables at night.

rocketleaf · 27/07/2011 17:10

Cheers meds I think I might need bigger wraps now she has grown a bit. That might fix the problem as I will be able to fit in a booster (bit gutted as think my funky Thirsties might have to go although they might still be ok for day time) If not it will have to be disposables.

Sorry the GP is being an arse silvs hope the other one will be more use.

Muser · 27/07/2011 17:34

I use disposables at night too rocket. They do end up leaking but that's because my baby has gone insane and started sleeping from 7pm until 9am and she leaks sometime in the last hour or so. And before anyone feels jealous, she wakes up a LOT inbetween those hours. I should start waking her before 9am, but frankly I've been glad of the sleep.

What wraps are you using at the moment? My Motherease airflow are very good and I've only had some very minor leaks recently which I think is because I need to start putting a booster in. These are the kind of "slight damp spot" leaks that because I am a slummy mummy I ignore and they dry out v quickly.

Casps sorry to hear about your granddad, very sad.

LadyG AWESOME birth story. Welcome to the deli.

Pones I went to a heuristic play session today and thought of you. Grin

rocketleaf · 27/07/2011 17:47

muse i have thirsties wraps. I was seduced by the pretty colours Blush but I think they might be too snug and the binding it wicking up at the back. I have been using a ME Rikki size S for the night time which worked fine before the break. Nappy lady recommended I use Rikki size M by this age so I think I am going to get a couple of them and see if it fixes the problem. I guess over the last couple of weeks of using disposables Sprout might have grown out of the wraps I have. Aso think I might have got a bit lazy about changing often enough (another slummy mummy here) as I have just gone up a disposable size, I guess there has been more absorbency to play with.

Muser · 27/07/2011 17:54

I have two pretty wraps, a wee notions one and some other kind. They definitely aren't quite as good as the Motherease. I think it's because they're fabric on the outside and they can wick the moisture from the nappy. Definitely need to change promptly if I'm using them. And as the small one doesn't seem to care whether her nappy is wet or not it is very easy for me to forget.

Muser · 27/07/2011 17:55

Oh those Thirsties are lovely. So tempting!

rocketleaf · 27/07/2011 18:23

Cheeks and cherries do them cheapest I think if you decided to indulge Wink

LadyGoneGaga · 27/07/2011 18:55

FP that is hilarious. am sure it will do her no harm. Maybe not a tale for the hilarious family reminiscing in years to come though. She may not thank you for it...

Yes, was at W hospital. Was pleasantly surprised. MiniG is loving it in the most part. Adores her, is less sure about sharing me. MrG let him fall asleep and stay asleep for 2 frigging hours yesterday (until 6pm!) while me and Iris were napping. Did I have a cats chance in hell of getting him to bed last night? We ended up 4 of us in the bed and a tantrum at 5am where I told him off for flailing his legs about and kicking Iris. No nap today so hopefully we will get more sleep!

Feel free to pop round whenever you like - when do you start fancy new job?

Need to get the cloth nappies back out. Still very much in black, tarry poo territory so I reckon I can put it off for a couple of weeks yet.

CurlyCasper · 27/07/2011 19:12

Thanks for nice words re gramps. Unfortunately he is hundreds of miles away, so I have not been able to see him, just getting lots of updates.

Welcome gg, I had a quick squiz at your story and it sounds really empowering. so good to know some women aren't forced to push etc.

Talking of wraps, I have ME airflows in small, med and large if anyone wants to try/use/borrow them. I have failed completely with the washables, but would like to try again if there's a number two child.

lighty I'd be keen to hear how you fare with EC. It's something i take notions for now and then, but doubt it would work when I am not with Squeaks consistently (don't think nursery would be impressed). I might try popping her on a potty when I can anyway - her poos are pretty much routine, so we could at least practise the sitting position.

CurlyCasper · 27/07/2011 19:12

Grin at fp

SilverSky · 27/07/2011 19:28

I've had the most horrid bath time session with MB. Sad Scratching and screaming and not happy. SadSad Un fact throughout his tea he was scratching, put him in his walker and he's scratching. Feel so sorry for him. All I can hear is mr saying "no" "stop it" etc. Distracting him is so pointless.

Bloody Dr "give him piriton, use the steroids on his groin ra ra ra" AngryAngry

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrt!

Sorry to whinge but it's getting to me! Sad

rocketleaf · 27/07/2011 19:41

Oh silva that sounds horrible, poor MB. No wonder you need to vent. Nothing practical to offer I'm afraid :-(

casp I wouldn't mind trying out the size M, will pm you

SilverSky · 27/07/2011 19:45

And now MB has figured out how to sit up in his cot. Balls and buggeration.

rollerbaby · 27/07/2011 20:07

Poor MB. It will pass as they say!

I've only just got monkey moo into bed. He is still not asleep. God only knows WHAT has happened today but he was not tired at 7pm. Maybe not enough crawling as we went out all afternoon in the buggy? Fuck me I am tired. feel about to pass out with lack of food and knackeredness and still need to finish baby cooking and washing and pick up all the socks the dog has chewed and brought around the house. I think I might start a thread that goes "how do I stop my dog eating my baybees socks?".

I have to say, I do like monkey moo having nice home cooked food but it is a right arse ache having to do it in the evening when all I feel like doing is lying face down on the sofa.

rollerbaby · 27/07/2011 20:09

I salute you all for trying washables. I do not know how you do it.

CluckyKate · 27/07/2011 20:29

that is hilarious FP. Is Bonnie old enough to remember this event??? I have a strong recollection of searching my Dad's bedside drawer for "balloons" and him getting very cross with me - was only when I saw a johnnie for the first time that I twigged Shock

Beats the "how do I stop my dog eating the cat's poo?" ishoo in this house Moo - if anyone has any ideas pliz to reveal. Well done you on the home-cooked food front tho. Am afraid I've slipped into a fish fingers/sausages/chicken nuggets with chips 'n beans rut so nuff respec' to you.

That is one heck of a tale GG - sounds very calm and serene so blimmin' well done. Double well done for getting the story writ so quickly too.

rollerbaby · 27/07/2011 20:40

OMG FP that is bloody bloody funny. Didn't read posts properly. Do you mean to say that you didn't explain it wasn't 'special suncream'??? Wink

rollerbaby · 27/07/2011 20:42

Clucky I think cat moo beats the dog licking poo off the baybee's arse cheeks!!!! Also, if babymoo were old enough to eat chicken nuggets, trust me I would serve them. My mum gave us microwave chips when we were young and I'm alright. What happened to them I wonder. They really were minging.

CluckyKate · 27/07/2011 21:37

You can still get them Moo - Tesco not Waitrose. Still come out soggy too....you'd think they'd have fixed that over all these years.

rollerbaby · 27/07/2011 21:49

ha ha, how do you know where I shop???!!!! Shock

FannyPriceless · 27/07/2011 21:58

clucks Don't worry - she will never know about this. I just told her it was Mummy's special ointment - a word she is particularly impressed by at the moment. She got a bit distressed when it was starting to dry and getting all sticky so I washed her down in the garden, which she thought was hilarious. Parenting is such a lark!Hmm

LadyG MrG definitely needs words about the sleeping until 6pm thing - what was he thinking?!

SilverSky · 27/07/2011 22:29

The other day HI thought MBs crankiness was down to tiredness at approx 5pm so ge spent an hour or so trying to get him to sleep. The actual ishoo was MB was starving! Men eh? Bless.

Grin at balloons!

I found a copy of The Joy of Sex on top of the wall unit whilst hunting Christmas presents when I was a teenager. Blush Clearly belonged to the 'rents.

CluckyKate · 27/07/2011 22:35

Lucky guess Moo Wink

You did have as flick through, didn't you Silv. I trust it was in pristine condition - spine intact, pages not stuck together etc.

SilverSky · 27/07/2011 23:01

Hell NO! I was mortified! Blush

rocketleaf · 28/07/2011 05:55

Ha silvs I had exactly the same experience but I was a little older so though it was hilarious and showed it to my friends. I just remember the 70s illustrations and all that hair!
