Liking maternity leave too much? Can't be arsed to go back to your old job? Why not get made redundant, set up a company, have another baybee or even fall off a horse? Anything to spend more time with our little darlings! And it's so naice here - pass the gin!

See, I am generous with the slaps today.

Yes, Sheila Maid is uppy-downy thing.

Your EC method sounds like the precise opposite of my approach! I waited until she was old enough to articulate clearly that she'd rather not wear nappies any more, thank you Mummy. Landfill, shmandfill.

okiecokie · 25/07/2011 16:16

FP it looks like something you could hang pans on too or some kinky S&M tie up thang.

SilverSky · 25/07/2011 17:52

Welcome back light! Brilliant to hear you are not hungover refreshed! Grin

FP tent aerobics eh? That's one way if exercising!! Wink

Huzzah for kid free days and self indulgent relaxing treats

Honey hope the scan went well! Grin

alps do they have room for one more at that yard? Sounds bloody lush. Is that full livery?

cluck suggest you sleep in car avec kids ce soir. Wake up 7.55 and drive. Perfect.

rocco have been fortunate to get my leg over twice this weekend. The saddle of course. You filthy lot. Wink

meds your composure and strength during such a difficult time was phenomenal. Just so pleased everything is on the right path now.

okie peppa is such a cutie! Lovely pic of her with BabyMoo! Total cliche to say but aren't they all do grown up now?

Is CU lurking? Hope all is ok and she's not being worked to death.

I'm sat here MNing whilst giving MB his tea which is Dairylea sarnies and a banana. He's sodding massacred everything. It's everywhere and I keep repeating "food us fun til one" and trying very hard to not let my OCD go into overdrive at the mess. The dawg's gonna be in 7th heaven with the amount of food on the floor. This kitchen is a health hazard not to mention MB's hair!! His scalp is wearing most of his tea. Looks like tonight will be a bath night fo' sho'!

rocketleaf · 25/07/2011 19:14

Have to say after being forced back to disposables for the last week or so I am not really looking forward to getting back on the reusables treadmill. Although Sprout does look cute with a big bum and it gives you something to grab on to.

rollerbaby · 25/07/2011 19:35

Lighterfluid welcome back! Looooong time no see. Fanks for congrats. I know, I am a sucker for punishment...

Scan went well I think. I am less far gone than I thought by a couple of days (5+5) even though I know when the deed was done, it can take up to 3 days for the egg to form. Who knew? . So anyway the upshot is that all looks healthy and normal size wise but a few days too early to see a heartbeat so we have been asked to go back on Friday to see it then. The woman at the Wellness Centre was so nice and could see my worried look and reassured me that everything was absolutely fine, so please god it is. Feel slightly on tenterhooks until then, but hey ho.

I am going to york this weekend for another work related mini-break am dead excited. This one might not be quite as romantic as the last one as we are taking mini moo, but still. I am loving my job at the moment despite all the stress and stupido deadlines.

okiecokie · 25/07/2011 19:54

Well moo you can shag away to your hearts content on your mini break safe in the knowledge there is no risk of getting diffed cos you already are! If you ever want anyone else to do any work related mini break research then I would happily oblige. Good news on the scan. Did you see Prada/Sharda?

So, walking home from nursery today and mini Oke yelps "there is something in my mouth Mummy". Now, I hate this. He can't stand when bits get stuck in his teeth and on this occassion it was strawberry pip/skin. Usually I have to try and fish it out before he gags and throws up but I was too late and he threw up his entire tea and a shed load of strawberries all over himself and the pram. The pram now stinks of vom. I have tried to wash it down but as it is not the first time this has happened we have vom on vom. I see the resale value on ebay diminishing. However, the pram "looks" in good nick, it just smells of vom.

Silv I am with you on the meal time carnage. I have resorted to newspaper on the floor to try and control the mess.

rollerbaby · 25/07/2011 20:10

Yep it was Sharda again. She was most shocked to see us and put out that we didn't bring the small person. (left him with GM). I have promised to take him on Friday. Was comforting to see the little bean though and know that this isnt just a figment of my imagination. Not sure about the whole shagging this weekend - will my bean fall out?

okie we also had mass strawberry vom yesterday when he gagged and I had to do the turny upside down trick for the 4th time. I am getting quite good at this now. There was an enormous puddle which Alfie licked up and then stank to high heaven and had his 2nd bath of the weekend. Can you douse the pushchair in Milton fluid? Would that help?

rollerbaby · 25/07/2011 20:11

oops note mistake above.

Muser · 25/07/2011 20:17

Sharda is so lovely. I think you can shag mumu, but be careful of cakes and loud noises.

I have just done bedtime for the second time. Apparently 1 bedtime is not enough. There must be another one.

Lighttaperstandback · 25/07/2011 20:20

The joys of feeding eh? I heard on the radio on the other week that apparently someone advertised on Freecycle for the loan of a dog for 2 hours every evening "to clean the floor after our children have finished eating". Made me chuckle...

HoneyIGotTheKids I rapidly discovered (after the first night) that the combination of a hangover and a son that wakes at 7am were not a good one - I could either handle going to bed later that my usual 10pm, or a few extra bevvies, but not the both. Opted for the late nights instead of the blotto-ness, and spent most of the Sunday after we got back napping with the baby...lightweight, me.

Right. We've done it. Stuffed Squib full of food today and gave a bottle of Goodnight Milk at bedtime. Dream feed is over. I suspect I may be up in the wee smalls tonight...

okiecokie · 25/07/2011 21:02

moo don't worry, I don't think you have outed yourself.

rollerbaby · 25/07/2011 22:33

Can someone tell me what car seat group 2 to buy? Thinking that a 4 hour journey might be better with forward facing baby...

okiecokie · 26/07/2011 07:14

Maxi cosi axis. Will save your back in months to come. Wish I had got it but will get it for Peppa.

SilverSky · 26/07/2011 07:53

Is that the one that swivels?

Backinthebox · 26/07/2011 07:58

Moo, have a little read of the research on rear facing seats before you decide to go forward facing so young. Some good stuff on MN if you have a poke around.

Good luck for Cluck's vetting today! Will expect a phone call asap.

Nanny Plum is fabuloso! More later.

Lighttaperstandback · 26/07/2011 08:22

Well, we survived our first night with night feeds...kinda. Squib woke at 5.15, and I just gave him water and held him until Dad came in to "get him up" at 6 for his first feed of the morning, which is pretty much the approach I took when we cut out the 3/4am feed a couple of months back. We'll get there.

Crumbs, is it nearly new carseat time? What are the rules on that? Is it when baby's head pokes up above the top of the old one or summat? Confused We have one ready to go in the cupboard given to us by friends but I figured we were ok with the one we have for awhile yet...esp seeing as we prob put Sqiub in the car once a month tops...

Lighttaperstandback · 26/07/2011 08:22

Er...withoutnight feeds...maybe that 5.15 start may have had some effect...

AlpinePony · 26/07/2011 08:36

fanny has the definitive formula about "when" to buy a carseat, it has something to do with sales * remembering - size of car + size of child or something.

rollerbaby · 26/07/2011 08:44

I think my carseat test is that I literally have to squidge him into the carseat until he sort of 'pops' in!!!!!!! His head is nearly at the top and he is so sweaty when I take him out. I haven't had him weighed for ages but he was 2 stone then a month or so back so god knows what he is now. I'm guessing it might be time.

okie I like the sound of that one. It does say though not great for moving from car to car. Not sure if that matters though?

rollerbaby · 26/07/2011 08:52

light that sounds like a success! did he cry much at 5.15? Babymoo often wokes at either 5 or 6 and will sound like hes really going to go into one but then goes back off after 5 minutes once hes got over the shock of being awake!

rollerbaby · 26/07/2011 08:53

what i was going to say is try ignoring him for ten mins and see if he goes back off... you dont want him thinking the day has started then iyswim!!

SilverSky · 26/07/2011 09:07

That's what I do when MB wakes at 6/630 and then he goes back to sleep til 730/745. I discovered this by accident a couple of weeks ago cos I was knackered and fell asleep again and ignored him.

FannyPriceless · 26/07/2011 09:22

honey Clyde is a fairly bulky boy and we didn't put him in the toddler car seat until he was 13 mths. As long as their head is not poking over the top, rear facing is much safer.

You can always get a fitting done at a shop if you're unsure. When we bought Bonnie's they checked her fit in the baby seat and told us she should should stay in that for at least another couple of months.

okiecokie · 26/07/2011 09:46

Yeah it is the one that swivels. Moo if you need to move it around between your fleet of cars then may be buy one for each car? Wink

Lighttaperstandback · 26/07/2011 11:01

I usually do that to Moo - Squib woke at 5ish yesterday, but I left him to his own devices until he started really wanting attention at 6ish. Usually it's nearer 7 but I think he's still trying to rearrange his body-clock post holiday. He was pretty upset when he woke today - was gulping at the water I gave him but I was a mean momma and made him wait till 6 for milk. I figure an extra 45 mins was not going to kill him, and am hoping his body will quickly adjust and take on more food during the day. That's the theory anyhoo...

The fun bit was then trying to keep him awake until at least half 9 for his first nap, as we have a hossie appointment at 2 this pm for eye tests (due to postnatal low blood sugar) so didn't want him sleeping too early and being overtired for.
