The CRESH Creche and Spa - What's your excuse for not going back to work?

1000 replies

Backinthebox · 05/07/2011 20:10

Liking maternity leave too much? Can't be arsed to go back to your old job? Why not get made redundant, set up a company, have another baybee or even fall off a horse? Anything to spend more time with our little darlings! And it's so naice here - pass the gin!

alps You star! Does this require a move?

curls Sending you a sharp, painful punch in the arm for being so brave over the counselling. I also had a good cry on Wed night which was really weird... I went to the cinema with my PESH friend and cried through 90% of the film!Blush It wasn't even a weepy - it was Bridesmaids, so I was sobbing at female fart jokes - WTF??!! I told my friend that my contact lenses were hurting which made my eyes run.Confused

I was back at doc this morning for more anti-ds. kim since you are asking, there are several of us in the PND wing of the CRESH. It's very nice here.

pollyloon Well done on the child party success! I am also with droid.Angry Is this because we recently spent a day together so are now in sync?

clucks Dying to hear news on the pony visit tomorrow. This is like real life pony porn!

FannyPriceless · 22/07/2011 22:01

box Your description of noctural offspring antics sounded exactly like the Priceless family... until you got to the part about 5 hours sleep!Envy I dream of 5 hours!

And by the way, when you say of LG 'he'll be out in the stables again'.... I'm sure your stables are very nice, but, um, just asking...

SilverSky · 22/07/2011 22:15

I too haz droid. Bastard thing. Effing hurts and making me a tearful wreck. Droid blues and no idea or reason why.

Tomorrow I have date with my nag. Better not rain!!

box that's awful. Is it worth hobbling LG? Wink.

Cluck are you taking the trailer to the viewing? Grin

fanta there are a couple of boxes at my yard that are of show home standard. I'd def spend a night in either!!

cokie such a small blimmin' world! Six degrees of separation!

poll on the plus side you've several reciprocal invites in the mail surely!

When did Friday night tv become so poor and dull?

Backinthebox · 22/07/2011 22:21

Er, Fanny I don't know what you are trying to say! Stables - isn't the whole point of them to either put lots of poniez in, or use them as temporary sleeping quarters for offspring when the house gets a bit full?

OP posts:
CluckyKate · 22/07/2011 22:22

Sod TV - we're listening to Absolute 90's on the wireless. Am feeling all hyped-up and even cleaned my bridle....well, not mine exactly but you know what I mean Wink

No droid here but will inevitably be here soon what with the boy moving onto t'formula. MrCluck has volunteered to do the 3am feed tonight for the first time eva. So, pony-shopping on a full nights sleep - how lucky am I???

kimdeal · 22/07/2011 23:38

Fanny any excuse to grab your knees gal.
Another thread you say? But I don't know where any of the eshes are - the only reason I found you lot was that this thread appeared on most active when I was working (cough). Like I'm still spozed to be working now. But in fact, I'm going to bed now.
Clucky - hello. Woohoo you are getting SOME SLEEEEEP. Sweetest gold. How old is babycluck?
Polly - feff back.

okiecokie · 23/07/2011 05:26

Good luck with shopping trip cluck.

AlpinePony · 23/07/2011 07:32

morning all. Thank you for all your kind wishes, obviously I am thrilled! :) I've had so many bad interviews over the years and perhaps I'm paranoid but I've always felt judged on my looks - especially if the interviewer has been a man slightly older than me. I've also walked in before and heard "we weren't expecting you to be white - where is your name from?" type stuff. Confused I found the interview room and it was a woman in her early 60's, normal size and shape so immediately I felt confident and comfortable. My last very successful interview was with an older man who was horse mad and we talked horses. Anyway it was clear she liked my CV, she gave me a language test and was really happy - I wasn't expecting it although the ad had asked for fluency but tbh as we're a US company I tend to ignore that requirement. Wink There's actually an English guy on the team so I won't be the only native English speaker. Anyway, upshot is obviously that it went really well. No money discussed yet (her line manager not back until monday), however I'm going to take it even if there is at present no wage increase because the potential is immense and I can fight for a raise at end-of-year review, claim "everything" on expenses blah blah. It's at the country HQ and obviously I'll be meeting all the movers and shakers so the networking opportunities are brilliant. I saw a similar job advertised in our town for double my salary (experienced obv.) so there is good potential and I'm not going to turn it down for "pride". fanny No move required, it's two days a week fixed at the office, so easy to arrange childcare - so I'll need to take the train in but don't need to be sat at the desk for 8 hours, she says she's never there more than 6 herself. I could stay in a hotel overnight as the days are concurrent, but secretly I'm looking forward to sitting on the train and reading a book ! LUXURY! Grin

okie Ah well, then you know you've got good judgement because obviously your friend is nice and we all know VAG is lovely. So the two of them being friends just confirms that you were right.

Good luck today Kate - I hope everything goes well to plan.

Fackin' stables put on the market thursday - sold yesterday! Shock Nobody expected that. So my search will be sooner rather than later. So today I may go and check out a couple of places and see what I think.

My life is sooooo glamorous, I have cleaned 2 enormo-poos and cleaned out the washing machine filter which was actually just a 500g clump of sodden dog-hair. :( Also, whatever the fuck you do, don't get "white tinted" fucking floors when you've got a fucking black hairy moltastic dog.

silv I've got a free pass to go to the stables tomorrow - don't care if it's rain or shine, need to get my riding in before I stop feeling "safe". Can't really go today because it's miserable and can't leave Bear in the buggy next to the arena if it's raining. Although there is a waterproof cover I suppose. JB didn't get home from work until gone 5am so I can't ask him to get up in an hour and Bearsit so I can go riding.

And here endeth my essay.

CluckyKate · 23/07/2011 08:11

Sounds ace Alps and I'm just a leetle bit jealous (of the job, that is, not the shite).

Sleep was amaze - just as well really as I have a hyperactive, over-excited loon in the house. She woke up announcing she had a sore tummy....turns out it's butterflies Grin

Hey Kim [waves] - BC is a 5 month bundle of giggles & laughter. His older sister will be 3 in October and is bestest friends with Boxer's TT.

SilverSky · 23/07/2011 08:21

To clarify Kim that Boxer's TT is her daughter not her car! Grin

laurielou · 23/07/2011 09:35

Morning all,

Just a quickie to say blardy well done on the jobs Alps. Sounds absolutely amaze. Well deserved. Can I drink your share of champers?

Well, I'm off to the hairdressers this morning - so excited by the thought of a bit of pampering & a hot cup of coffee. Ah, its the small things that bring so much pleasure now, isn't it?

Hope everyone has a good Saturday - laters!

PollyPoo · 23/07/2011 10:14

I am farking knackered.... Thurs night I only had 4 hours sleep and after the party yesterday both girls were knackered so i thought we'd be in for a good night. Unfortunately not. BB has got a cold and is all stuffed up. TG didn't get in from work until 10.30pm last night (with chinese takeaway, so he was forgiven) and I'd already been up to BB five times. She woke up again while i was half way through my dinner. I was up countless times in the night and ended up putting her in bed with me in the spare room. I think the longest time she was quiet was 40 minutes. Having her in bed with me didn't help, she just moaned and squawked and batted me in the face so at 4.30am I gave up any hope of sleep and took her downstairs. She finally fell asleep on me at 5.30 but woke up after an hour wanting her breakfast.

I have now put her to bed with an oil burner in her room burning olbas oil but the fucking helicopters from yeovilton keep flying over really low and waking her up again. GAAAAAHHHHHH. Boo and I are eating leftover party food for breakfast* because I can't be arsed to make anything. We are supposed to be going on holiday today but TG has fucked off to play games and I am not sure I function well enough to remember to pack the essentials. You know, like dog, children, milk etc. I am in a Bad Mood. meh

Sorry, that was all very memememe. Alps that is a bugger the yard sold so quickly, I hope you get good weather tomorrow.

Good luck with the pony buying Clucks, how exciting! One of our neighbours does DIY livery (probably 60 seconds walk door to door). I'd love to get a little pony for Iris and BB (not to mention a nag for me) but it is just not practical or affordable atm. Oh well, when I am earning my fortune sticking needles in people I might be able to manage it.

Kimmy I am also in the psychiatric wing PND mental rockers corner. Feeling loads better now I have changed pills. And i have remembered to take one every day for a Whole Week - yay me!

  • do i get a go with the crown? Just for a bit?
CurlyCasper · 23/07/2011 10:27

I'm home alone with just Squeaks. No dog and no husband. So we went back to bed for two hours after breakfast. Oops!

Did anyone else's child get constipated afterswitching to cow's milk? We have crying when she pushes, following by solid little packages. Easier to clean for me, but not nice for her.

rocketleaf · 23/07/2011 11:11

Job sounds ace pone you are obviously buzzing. Congrates again.

Good luck with the horse purchasing today clucks am I the only ESH that is a wee bit scared of neddies then? (got kicked in tum by one as a child, went flying and landed on thistle, adding insult to injury and scarring for life) they are beautiful animals but I tend to admire from afar.

Can I join poo in the sleepy corner? Another night of thrashing and grunting ALL night long so I guess it wasnt anything to do with the dream feed the night before. Must be trapped wind as shes fine when we rub her tummy but starts up again as soon as we stop and she hasn't pooed for 6 days :-(. Would gripe water help do you think? It's really frustrating as she doesn't actually wake up to feed, just wakes us up with the noise so we would all probably be sleeping really well otherwise! she's down for a nap now and seems fine, it's only at night she's like this. Bless TB though. He got her up at 6 so I could lie in and has just cleaned the house instead of going back to bed. boy done good.

okie I have mutual friends with 2 of the ESH. Is a small world isn't it? But as alps says just proves you have taste.

loz to quote another forum:Pics or GTFO.

SilverSky · 23/07/2011 12:26

My nag date went ahead. Was lovely. Must clean my tack. It's rotten.

HI has taken MB to feed the ducks this morning and I've come home to an empty house. I KNOW I should be rushing round like bleeding Mary Poppins but instead I'm sat on the sofa with flapjack in my tummy, coffee in hand, still in jodhs with Dinner Date on the tv.

I'm still toying with moving yards but not sure. One 2 mins away but still DIY and £50 extra. Services extra also. Would need to pop pick and manage own paddock. Not sure if summer turn out.

Another place over the road BUT think it's private. Hacking awesome but to get to hacking is iffy. Need to investigate.

HI working later so it's me and the boy ! Really need to do some chores.

Wonder if cash has exchanged hands for da pony yet? Grin

CurlyCasper · 23/07/2011 13:48

rocket squeaks was grunty/farty in the early weeks, to the extent that i moved her into her own room for a bit. We both slept better that way. She came back when that phase passed, which was only after a couple of weeks.

Just met lovely neighbour and her kids at soft play and had a nice chat. Didn't envy her trying to bf 3 month old and control lively 3 year old!

rocketleaf · 23/07/2011 14:00

I spoke too soon, she's been grizzly all day which is unlike her and looks absolutely knackered poor thing, she even has dark circles. yet doesnt seem to be able to sleep for longer than 10 mins. :(

curls i had wondered if she would be better off in her own room. Not sure whether to try it tbh, i think once she's done a poo she'll be back to normal.

rocketleaf · 23/07/2011 14:21

Mm appears I may have spoken too soon again what she really wanted to do is lie on her play mat and watch the Tour de France. Strange child.

SilverSky · 23/07/2011 15:34

MB is desperately tired. Will he sleep? No!

Have managed to get him to stop hyperventilating tho he has ripped his face and neck to shreds. Sad

rollerbaby · 23/07/2011 19:57

Alps MASSIVE congratulations on the new job. That is amazing news and you sound dead chuffed and excited which is lovely. 2 days in the office and rest WFH is perfect. Brilliant - just shows you never know what's around the corner. Will it mean travel at all?

Polly tiredness sounds SHITE. Have you tried the £8 Karvol plug in? We used it once and found it really helpful for babymoo. The house stank to high heaven but he slept through his cold so canny complain.

cluck how did the potential-pony-purchasing go? The only pony I ever had was my little pony.

Today has been a massive day of shopping. The list was long and we headed to John Lewis for a 5 hour marathon. Dog went for a playdate and came back so tired and filthy after romping round his doggy playmate's garden and being humped that we had to wash him 4 times. He has passed out in the kitchen and refuses to come in for a cuddle which is a world first. We hit Baby Gap and kitted the monkey out in loads of stuff. I am sick of buying stuff too small so we actually did a trying on session for some jeans and t-shirts and you can imagine how popular that was. Other than that is was a lovely day and enjoying just chilling and watching Dexter and Salt later....

Have weirdly lost my appetite at the moment which is MOST unlike me. Did anyone have this with pregnancy before? Went out for dinner at a friends last night and had to turn down pudding. WTF is going on????

CluckyKate · 24/07/2011 00:10

Nope, can't relate to that at all MooMummy - pregnancy made me ravenous which explains the 3 stone I still have to lose [grump]

The shopping expedition went brilliantly. The pone is fabulous and LC love him. Just need to get him vetted & he's mine ours. So, horsey gals, 2-stage or 5-stage vetting??? Am veering towards 2-stage on basis that he's 14 and very little will be expected of him initially. Am I being idiotic???

Yippee for lovely ride Silvio - does this mean the nag is back on form?

SilverSky · 24/07/2011 08:14

Huzzah for amaze ponio! Tough one re vetting. Cos nag was older I was advised to only have 2 stage as it's expected to find a few bumps / ishoos but then I was paying not very much for hoss. If nag is £ or from dealer I'd get 5 stage for peace of mind.

We are in early stages of get nag fit and have yet to discover if the problem is still there. Am going riding again today, I know don't faint! So will see. I really hope not.

okiecokie · 24/07/2011 09:41

What arout stage 4 or 3? I would go for one of those Smile

Backinthebox · 24/07/2011 09:48

Am desperately jealous of Cluck and LC re pony. I had my eye on him for over a year, but now is not a good time to buy a new pony chez Box. So I did the next best thing and told Cluck. Pony is even nicer in the flesh than I expected. I'm hoping to be showing Cluck the lead rein ropes later on in the summer when I get my leg back in working order, but I expect she will be sweeping up all the red rosettes with her pretty and impeccably behaved ponio while TT and the Shitland prop up the bottom of the line.

Silv how much do you currently spend in petrol each month driving to the yard? A yard close to home is always very convenient. But good hacking needs to be investigated too. Alp Shock about quick sale of your yard. Have you got anywhere else lined up?

Moo I had no trouble with eating in either pregnancy, maybe you are trying to eat at the same time as watching Dexter? (I love Dexter, btw.)

Pol party sounded good - night afterwards, notso. We have TT's party next weekend. 17 children dressed as fairies and elves running round in our garden. Please don't rain! Pol I was going to offer to be a guinea pig for your new venture, but now I have heard you will be using knitting needles I have changed my mind. My physio (tells you a lot about me that I have my own personal physio that I am on 'chatting in Waitrose' terms with) does an electro-acu-thingy that seems to be the worst bits of a TENS machine and needles but does work, mainly because once he turns it off you are so relieved to not be being stabbed and electrocuted.

OP posts:
AlpinePony · 24/07/2011 10:39

silv I agree with box and this is one of my issues with DIY, it's all well and good "saving" 50 quid a month but you can so easily lose that in petrol. I'd rather go for the yard 2 mins away.

box I looked at two places yesterday, the first was "ramshackle" - but in a style I've not seen since the 70s and I saw not one adult but around 20 kids. Turnout awful, fabulous hacking. Second place - well most of the cars in the car-park were worth more than our house - not for me. Got a lead on a place in Germany though which looks "fantastisch" although will need to brush up my German toot sweet! Wink

Oh and in further stables news ( sorry non-horsey ESH) - lil' Miss Syphillis has unveiled her latest tattoo on facebook. His name tattooed on her wrist. :( I texted a mutual friend about it - turns out he was out of his nut on friday and pointed a gun at her. Bless troo love. Hmm

Well done kate on the pony - personally I'd go for the stage 2 - reasons being i) age, ii) weight of rider, iii) "intensity" of work. It ain't gonna be taking 13 stone over Becher's any time soon is it?

silv Lucky you getting your ride. I need to psych myself up as the weather is miserable. It's going to be one of those where I just get rained on the whole way around

pols I hope you're having a lovely holiday and you're feeling a little more chipper soon. x
